Problems downloading and keeping downloads

I have had tons of problems with my iPod and I tend to assume that somehow I am at fault, but it's so extremely user unfriendly that maybe it's not just me. I download from iTunes, and the stuff appears on my iPod and then it disappears at some later time. Or sometimes it simply doesn't appear. I download directly using WiFi to the iPod. Same story. I have no idea what I will find on the iPod when I try to listen. Sometimes old stuff I already deleted comes back. That is especially annoying when I have mistakenly downloaded highly offensive material. I would say the technical term for my problem is gremlin infestation. Does anybody know an exorcist for iPods? Seriously, what's going on? Operator errors of some sort?

Mucked up installation. If the installer app is still in /Applications, delete it and start over.

    Are you sure the episodes are downloaded into your iTunes?
    Since iTunes 11, the Podcasts count has shown some, but not all, episodes which are available, even though they are not downloaded into your iTunes. Those episodes also appear in standard black text, whereas before iTunes 11, the count only showed fully downloaded episodes and - if you selected to "show all available episodes", then the additional ones would be greyed out, not full black.

    same problem for me. I am using abe edition 3 as I don't think 4 can be used with kobo. Book has been downloaded to kobo but it can't be read as it is not authorised.Help please

  • I'm trying to download an episode of Dr. Who but it keeps telling me it's going to take 24 hours, and then it crashes and says "there was a problem downloading an unknown error occurred 50.  Any Ideas on how to fix it?

    Need help. I've only had my iphone4s for over a week or so and had no problems downloading free apps and purchasing apps using my bank card. I haven't brought any apps for 2 days now and I'm trying to update one of my apps I've purchased and it keeps saying billing details wrong and notice that my security code is not there so I've put it in and then it comes up with my payment has been declined. I have no reason as to why this is happening as I have money in my account and why exactly is it saying that when I'm only updating the app. I've even tried to get a free app and again it says the same. I've tried deleted every detail and re-doing it but nothing. I don't know whether it's to do with when I synced my iPhone on my laptop 2 days ago and my laptop died so it didnt sync completely so maybe its to do with that or to do with my bank. Can someone tell me what I can do next as I'm getting rather frustrated and so close to throwing the phone across the room. Thanks. :D

    Fair enough. The only reason why I asked for help is simply because I have never had to use my bank details to download a free app or to update an app. Not only that i have no idea how to work this phone. So I was concerned. And thought that the matter could be easily rectified hence why I posted this. Obviously if I had tried to purchase an app and I didn't have no problems in downloading and updating an app that Ive purchased or downloaded for free already then I would definitely know for certain that it would have to be with my bank. Same way you go to "a shop" and is given something for free, your not going to be concerned when someone asks for your bank details? Your going to investigate right? Ask questions? And thats exactly what im doing. And as for your rude/sly comment about throwing my phone, I don't expect you to care. I was simply trying to add humour. Thanks for your help anyway.

    I am trying to download an app and keep getting this error message: "Could not sign in. An unknown error has occurred.  I have tried shutting down and restarting. I've tried changing the password. I get the error message with free and not free apps. Any suggestions on how to fix?

    Reports are that this is a problem with the iTunes Store that they're working on. Some people have had success after signing out of their account and back in. If that doesn't work for you, wait a few hours or perhaps until tomorrow and by then they may have the problem sorted out.

    A simple search of the forums for the actual error would have revealed the resolution.
    Temporarily disable all security software on the computer.

    “SUCCESS!!! I took my iPod to a friend who is a computer programmer/genius. He turned off his wireless, hooked the ethernet cable directly into his computer, and the download went through without a hitch. YAY!”
    Here is my original post explaining what I had already tried:

    I got an iPod Touch 1st gen for my youngest son for Christmas as a starter. It has the 2.1.2 ios on it, but after I paid for the upgrade to 3.1.1, I keep getting an error message (8288) saying there was a problem with the network connection. I have called customer service, and they suggested I try on a different computer, and if that didn't work, try connecting to a different network, and then trying the update. None of this has worked. It seems that tech support is clueless with this issue.
    I have installed and unistalled iTunes 10.5, 10.3, 10.4, and now I am back with 10.5. I have tried looking up the issue from several search engines but no one seems to have a universal solution and I have tried several.
    I really want to have this thing updated for himw hwne he opens it, but I am starting to worry that my purchase was a bust. I know this is the oldest version, but I don't want to buy a newer, more expensive iPod and him still not be mature enough to really take care of it. As I said, this one is a starter.
