Problems downloading Large dmg s ( like Bootcam)

Recently I've noticed that I can't download large files like, an update of Mac OS X 10.4.10 Update (combo) and passing like 3 or 4 min since the beginning of the download it crashes telling me that it can't resolve the server. Then it happened with a dmg of Bootcamp, started downloading well, then past 3 or 4 min it crashed.
Do anyone knows what is the problem?
iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

My router is an Aolynk DR814 and is distributing network for the two computers.
basically when I start downloading large files it comes down in a mater of minutes. i've talked with the ISP guys and they told me that everything was fine with the connection and that they can't help with this.
I'm translating the error so it's something like this:
"An network connection error occurred: exceeded time (-1001). Make sure that you're connected to internet and try again."

  • Problem downloading large files via Safari

When downloading large video files (for example, from FilesAnywhere.com), my download stars off OK and then slowly gets slower and slower... and slower and then seems to grind to a halt. I'm currently attempting to download a 165MB file which has taken all day so far, and the time remaining just gets longer and longer. It now stands at another 18 hours, but by the morning it will most likley tell me there's a week left.
Does anybody know what is causing this? I can download via FTP with no problem very fast -it's just via Safari that seems to be the problem. I'm on a home broadband account.
I've encountered this problem before and I just had to give up on the download.

Good to see the problem was solved from the suggestion provided. Glad to have helped.
    Aloha from Big Island.

  • Problems downloading large video files...

*I get the following error message whenever I try to download a video file that is larger than 2gb:*
There were problems downloading some purchased items.
For more information on the items that could not be downloaded, click below.
There was a problem downloading “A-Rod's 500th Home Run / MLB.com Games of the Year / MLB.TV Game of the Year MLB.com”. An unknown error occurred (-50).
Please check that the connection to the network is active and try again.
*Is there something I need to adjust so that I can download these files??? I'm guessing that it is related to the size of the file, as 1.96gb file doesn't have a problem, while a 2.03gb file does.*

I tried contacting the store support, with no luck. They suggested that the problem was caused my either my ISP or my firewall, and has nothing to do with iTunes. I have since contacted McAfee, who has informed me that there is no way their firewall would limit the size of downloads. Embarq (my ISP) has also informed me that they have no way of limiting the size of my downloads.
I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place. Does anyone else have any ideas????

  • Problems downloading larger applications on a iPhone 3GS

Ok, I will try my best to clearly explain what's happening. Before I even attempt to do that, I will let those who need to know. That I went through over 8 pages of many different posts trying to find a problem similar to mine, with not much luck. There is no way that I'm going to go through 1235 pages of posts here in order to find one that might answer or solve the problem. I also use the search option to try and find a similar issue like mine. That's not to say there was none though, I wasn't able to find one.
I'm running iTunes version 10 and Windows XP Pro updated to service pack 3.My system meets all other requirements that I could find available on Apples iPhone website. I'm also using the usb cable provided with the phone.
I've had my phone about a month now and I absolutely love it! The many diferent things that this phone will do is totally amazing! I repeatedly find myself thinking of the older Dick Tracy comic when I'm using this phone.
Now onto my problem that is some what sporadic until it comes to trying to install mostly larger applications or games onto the 3GS. When I say larger I'm talking about app's that are 250 mb or larger. The same holds true with the software update for the phone, although I'm not certain as to the exact size of the update. But when ever I try to install any program as I said larger than 250 mb I always get the same type of error and iTunes needs to shutdown or stop the install.
Windows tells me that there is a accompanying text to explain the error and where it's suppose to be saved at so I can read it. Upon going to the the temp file in the documents directory it isn't in the folder. Best I can tell it is listing the various program dll's that were needing to stop running. An most if not all of them were related to itunes.
I'm by far not a genuis in programming but I'm lead to beleive that this is more of a itunes issue and not windows. But hey, who am I to say so? Any ideas?

OK, reinstalled, turned off all firewalls, anti-virus, spyware, ad-ware, and anything else that didn't need to be running in the background. And it had the same results, no matter what I did. Even worse now, I thought I would try and download some smaller apps from my iPhone. Successfully downloaded each app without a hitch, but now when I use itunes on my PC. I'm told that itunes needs to copy those programs from my iPhone to the library on itunes. Does good until it gets to one of the larger programs, which to be honest isn't all that big "82 mb". I get the same error stated earlier.
So now, I'm pretty much screwed unless I just use my phone to download through my wi-fi, which performs flawlessly, other than what I just explained. Is there anyway to turn that feature off, then I can use itunes on my PC? I've downloaded some apps that are in the library in itunes, now I'm unable to transfer them to my iPhone.
Is this just related to the 3GS or is this being seen with the 4 also? Am I the only person who purchased a 3GS and is having the same problem? Anything I can supply or inform anyone with regarding this issue I will try my best to do so.

  • Problem downloading large pdf with Safari

Has anyone else had this problem when clicking on a link to a large pdf file (1MB) I get a blank screen in Safari. When I try with firefox its fine only with safari is there anything I need to change to allow downloads of larger pdf files in safari?

1MB isn't a particularly large file at all. Can we assume that you've verified that Safari will open smaller PDF's?
Also, you haven't mentioned what Adobe product and version you are using (may help to give the version of Safari as well).

  • Problems downloading larger email attachments over...

I do work on friends/family PCs and I've had a number of cases (on seperate machines) of emails with larger attachments (2mb+) not being downloaded correctly. The POP3 connection either drops before the email is fully downloaded or the email is downloaded, but not removed from the server meaning no other email will come through.
Is this a known issue with BT broadband's email service?

I'd say not being able to recieve email is a pretty serious problem!
Sorry, clumsy wording. I was referring to the even more serious problem of not being able to connect with BT Yahoo! at all, and didn't intend to belittle your situation. They've had more than enough time to resolve all  the issues.

  • Problems downloading a DMG

When I try to Donwload a .dmg file I get a page not found error with the following address in my message bar.

    Hi,
You have an incompatible version of SpeedDownload installed.
Go to http://yazsoft.com/download.html and then right-click (or control-click) on the installer file and select "Download Linked File" to download it.
When the installer has downloaded, quit Safari and run it and select either to upgrade or uninstall it.

  • IMac disconnects when downloading large files

The internet on my iMac is a wired connection, hooked up through my router. It works perfectly fine and never disconnects while I'm browsing, playing games, or anything like that. When I download small files, things are still fine. Whenever I download something that takes more than a few minutes, my connection will shut itself off like clockwork. It then takes a minute or two to kick back in and resume, but then after another few minutes it will disconnect itself again. It isn't my ISP, since my laptop (Windows 7) downloads fine on this same network. My iPhone and iPad also have no problem downloading large files on this network either. What could be causing this strange issue with my iMac?

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of this exercise is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
    Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • Is anyone else having problems with large files, such as installation images, becoming corrupted when downloaded in Mavericks using Safari?

I am finding that when I try to download a disk image file, such as Office 2011, it reads invalid checksum, is corrputed and will not install. I tried to download it several times and even unchecked in the Disk Utility Preference Pane to verify checksums. The way I solved the problem, was to go to my Windows Machine and download the image, put it on a USB flash drive and install it on my Mac from the stick. Not a proper solution, but it did work. Has anyone out there had this problem? This is applying to any large .dmg files not just Office 2011.

I'm having exactly the same problem with the dmg file for Office 2011, tried downloading from my windows machine with no luck, still having the invalid checksum message.

  • Unable to download large videos taken with my 4S phone. 1-3G

I have taken several videos of my boys sports, but find myself unable to download the videos to my computer or portable hard drive.  Videos were taken with my IPhone and are 3-7 minutes long.  Up to 3gig of memory on just one video.
Trying to download to a Windows HP computer.   When plugging in the phone to sync...it will go for 30 min and then state.  (ITunes could not back up the iPhone because the backup could not be saved on the computer)  I have tried multiple times, rebooted, made sure everything is up to date.
When opening the files up like a camera where you can drag or tried copy and paste the files will attempt to save.  Sometimes the files looks saved but there is ZERO Mb saved, just the file name.   Other time I was able to get a file save, but it will not play, just a very fragmented video that looks like pictures taken every 30 seconds.
    Please help

Sometimes syncing will have problems with very large video files like this.  I'm not sure you will be able to overcome this, but if the videos are important enough you may consider purchasing 3rd party software such as Touch Copy to transfer them.

  • Problems downloading iPhone SDK

I just recently signed up for an Apple Developer account and am trying to download the iPhone SDK. When I start the download it never actually downloads and eventually times out. My problem is also described in these threads:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=11033796&#11033796
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=11000681&#11000681
In those threads I have tried the fixes and still been unable to accomplish the download.
I have tried on computers running Vista and Windows 7 and on my Mac running Snow Leopard.
On Windows (either one) after clicking on the link it comes up with the file information, I click save, and then the file download dialog opens. No transfer rate ever appears and neither does any indicator that I have downloaded any of the file. Eventually it times out.
On the Mac I tried downloading with Safari. Safari gets 1.1kb of the file and then tells me it will be many, many years before the download completes and eventually errors out that the server has not responded.
I currently have a 7 mb DSL connection. I am able to download any other file in the developer release section including X-Code and the Mac SDKs. In fact I have installed both X-Code and the Mac SDKs already and they were fine.
    Other things I have tried:
    1. Multiple browsers on Windows (Firefox, Chrome) with similar errors.
    2. Hooking straight into the modem (normally hooked into wireless N router)
    3. Disabling the modem firewall and Windows Firewall (Macs firewall is off by default. Is that normal?)
    4. using the trick from the other threads of changing http to https. For me it makes no difference.
    5. My work computers (with the same ISP) have no problems downloading the file. However with no disc drive, and with the USB ports disabled that doesn't really help me much. I only tried to see if they would work with my login since another thread suggested some users were being cut off.
Something else I do not understand is why I have to download the SDK with X-Code. Since I already have the latest version installed it seems like Apple could be saving on bandwidth there. No big deal but just kind of strange.
Any help anyone could give me would be appreciated.

Alright it turns out it was actually the DSL modem. Apparently the last major firmware update causes it to have problems downloading specifically from Apple servers. Both iTunes HD content and large downloads from Apple servers are unable to be downloaded. SD content, music, and downloads under roughly 1 gb are unaffected.
The modem is the 2Wire 2701. I actually managed to find an older modem that worked and downloaded the SDK fine. At this point I am looking around for a new modem just so in the future I will be able to download updates etc.
Also after a lot of searching it turns out that Qwest doesn't cap their service at all. Even the one report with a limit I turned up turns out that it was either true only back then or was part of a trial that ended. At this point Qwest does not cap at all.
Take a hint if you are going to respond to a post try to be helpful. If you are not actually going to help troubleshoot don't both.
But you did use an emoticon. So at least you were useless . . . with style.

  • Airport Extreme with Ubee D3.0 - cannot download large files.

    Hello all Macoids!
    Here is my issue...
I am on Charter Cable Network using Charter's provided modem Ubee D3.0 It is connected to an AirPort Extreme "main base" vie ethernet cable. That AirPort Extreme that I call "main base" distributes the WiFi throughout the apartment to other AirPort devices. And it all works.
    However...
I cannot download large files on Wi-Fi using iMac or even while connected to the AirPort Extreme main base via ethernet cable on my MacBook. What is interesting that inside of iTunes I can download large files with TV shows episodes just fine, but the update to an iPhone or an iPad will stop after 10 or 100 megs with error message "Unknown Error 9006" occurred. Interestingly enough, if I will drag the Download window in iTunes around while it is downloading 1.4 gig iOS update file for iPhone 5 - it will complete fine. So it looks like Airport main base (or whichever Mac is used) looses the connection to a download server or Ubee D3.0 modem, unless I constantly "renew" it by dragging the Download window around.
That is quite annoying to do for 15-20 minutes… Same happens on MacBook Pro that is actually connected to an AirPort Extreme main base via ethernet cable...
    Macbook running OS 10.9
    iMac running OS 10.8.5
    Same thing.
I would've call Charter but knowing well they have usually no idea what is up I thought to ask here if anyone has the same problem….?
Any smart suggestions not based on experience?
    Anything appreciated very much!

I ended up reformatting with HFS and the problem was solved, sort of.  The AEBS can now handle large files.  But that allowed me to expose yet another serious firmware bug (version 7.6.1), namely that if you use "account" style fileshares, the fileshares are not reliably accessible anymore, and frequent rebooting of the AEBS is needed to bring them back.  A quick test for whether this has happened is just attempt at ten-minute intervals to create a file on a read-write share.  You'll find it can work for up to a few hours, but at some point it will fail.  Makes the AEBS essentially unusable for account-based fileshares.  I
With firmware 7.5, I'd noticed a variation of this problem, which was that editing the fileshare permissions on the AEBS resulted sometimes in a corruption of the fileshare rights.  When this happened, you needed to reinitialize the AEBS completely.  So I hoped that in 7.6 they fixed the probems.  They fixed that one but added the new one.
For now, the workaround seems to be using a device-based password for the fileshares, and forgetting about account-based shares.  The huge problem presented by this approach is that all users have full access, so I await Apple's next attempt at stable firmware with great anticipation.  If only they had a beta test program, other than their users, we would not be in this near-constant state of working around serious bugs.

  • Problems downloading updated folio

Content Viewer is taking absolutely ages to download a folio (ipdated version) onto iPad 4.
I know there were server issues on friday/saturday, but it gets halfway through and then crashes/fails.
The status site is saying there are currently no problems downloading.
    Is there still issues?

Problem is Neil is that that status page is saying everything is OK with content viewer for web, but everybody is still experiencing problems - so people are not really taking it seriously/trusting it.
Surely a large company like Adobe could sort all these issues quicker and it's shouldn't be taking days?
People are missing deadlines through no fault of their own and potentially losing money not to mention clients.
