Problems downloading movie rentals to my ipad3

Just rented two movies from iTunes, one began to download to my ipad and then stopped. Error message 'cannot download movie at this time'.  Any suggestions?  Should I have downloaded them to my computer first and then to my ipad?  Can I cancel the rentals, don't want to pay for them if I can't download.

All things being equal - there is no reason why you should not be able to download the rentals right to the iPad. But things like an interruption in the Internet connection - a hiccough in the connection - could pause the download or cause a problem. You can try to resume the download, or see if you can download the rentals on your computer and then move them to the iPad.
You could try restarting or rebooting the iPad and see of the downloads will resume. You can try signing out of your ID, restart the iPad and sign in again and then try to resume the downloads.
Once you tap on Rent or Install or Buy - the iTunes cash register rings up the purchase so that's a done deal now. You can't cancel it. You can contact iTunes support if the movies will not download and they should be able to get you through it - one way or the other.

  • HT1390 Report problem with movie rental

I rented the movie "Hunger Games". After the download had completely finished I wanted to watch the movie in iTunes and had trouble, the sound was on and off, the picture sometimes blurry and interrupted.
How can I report a problem in movie rentals?

Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the item that is not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the item, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" link next to the item.

  • Problems downloading movies since upgrading to mavericks

Ever since upgrading to mavericks when it was first released, I have had nothing but problems downloading movies in iTunes. What normally would take no more than 30 minutes to download a movie and iTunes extras has now turned into waiting more than 3 hours with no less than 4 error messages saying iTunes cannot download the movie and I have to relaunch iTunes or reboot my entire system. It is getting quite annoying and I can't seem to find a solution.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you in advance.

I upgraded to Mavericks on two computers and have display problems too! I have CC on one Macbook Pro (2011) and CS6 on another (2012) and I'm now almost positive my display problems are triggered by InDesign. I don't have to be doing anything special, and I don't have to be working in InDesign at the time, but InDesign has to be open and I get things like this:
Once it turns magenta or green, that's when I have to boot the system. I can still work with the glitchy display before it turns colors and if I'm still able to quit InDesign while it's glitching, the display goes back to normal. Same on both computers and the 2011 one has a new logic board in it.
At first I thought it had something to do with connecting my hard drive or my external display, but the display issues happened with both computers with nothing hooked up. Those are ruled out now. I took my 2012 computer to Apple and they told me it was a software issue and all my hardware is ok. Obviously they didn't fix the software issue because it's still happening.
This is not normal and needs to be fixed soon!

  • ITunes 7.0.1(7):  Problems Downloading Movies from iTunes Store

Prior to installing the iTunes 7.0.1(7) upgrade, I had no problems downloading movies from the iTunes store. After I noticed that there appeared to be rate-limiting on the inital movie that I purchased, I simultaneously downloaded three other movies and watched one of the movies while they were downloading.
No problems with downloading multiple movies but severe problems with using iTunes 7.0.0 as a viewer. An inadvertent movement or click of the mouse resulted in the video portion of the movie disappearing. To solve the problem, I created symlinks in the QuickTime Player's ~/Movies directory to the downloaded movies. Using QuickTime as a viewer was a significant improvement over iTunes.
Upgraded to iTunes 7.0.1(7) when it was released. Today I discovered that the release has significant problems downloading movies.
After the initial download of the movie to /private/tmp, the iTunes download panel displays a message stating that it is processing the file. One would assume that it is inserting the chapter bookmarks and transferring it to the ~Music/iTunes/iTunes Music/Movies directory.
Not so. Its downloading the movie a second time. The processing file message is displayed a second time followed by a pop-up window reprting that the file is corrupt with an error code of 10008. Looks like one of Window's infamous network error codes. Wonder what it's doing on a Mac?
Enough of my diatribe. Are others seeing this? Do you have a "work around" or solution to the problem?
    PowerBook 17, PowerMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   iTunes 7.0.1(7)

I did run Disk Utility after reporting my problems here and to the iTunes Store. The "Check Permissions" scan found two iTunes with the incorrect permissions. As the permissions were correct prior to the upgrade, I presume the executable permission flags were turned on during the upgrade. Repaired the permission problems.
Also, I performed a reboot as was mentioned in a discussion of a slightly different problem. I was able to download one of the movies. The second failed about half-way through the download with a 9006 error.

  • Error 39 when downloading movie rental

    Hi,
I was half-way through downloading a movie rental on iTunes and it stopped saying error 39. My software is up to date and there is no problem with my internet connection so not quite sure what to do. I tried looking on the apple support page and tried what they said but it hasn't helped at all.

Even though you're getting a different error message number, perhaps try the "Error -50," "-5000," "8003," "8008," or "-42023" section in the Specific Conditions and Alert Messages: (Mac OS X / Windows) section of the following document:

  • Problems downloading movies on iPad?

I am having problems downloading video to my iPad from the iTunes store directly on the device, not from my computer. Every time I tap buy or rent, a message shows up saying I don't have enough storage space. I have a 16gb Wifi version and about 2gb free on it. So I have enough space. Anything like this happens to anybody else?

Sorry but I think your information might be off a little bit. I have no idea what movies you are looking at - but the first 8 movies - the new releases - that I looked at in iTunes all exceed 1.5 GB in the SD version. I have one movie on my iPad that is almost 2GB.
I think that 700 MG would be the exception.
