Problems downloading personal edition:

I am trying to download Oracle Database Personal Edition.
1. Followed the direction per the webpage
2. Created 3 directories:Disk 1, Disk 2, Disk 3
3. I unzip the first and the third zip files
When I try and unzip the second file, it says that this file is not a proper archive file, try and download again. I have donwloaded the file two times and I still encounter the same problem. Is there a problem with the file on the server? I know that there can't be too much error on my part seeing how I am only downloading a file and trying to unzip the file.
More information would be much appreciated....
Thanks,
Jason Buettner

Supporting your statement:
Oracle Database Personal Edition includes all the features and options of the Enterprise Edition. It is available for Windows only. Which I think is sad as there are developers on Linux who would not mind buying a license for PE if it was available on Linux.
(Hey Oracle ... Windows is not the only developer environment around ... hint hint)
According to the Install manual (picking on the 10gR2 install), at in chapter 3 section 4 in Table 3-2 we note the second step of install using the Database Installation CD states
Select Installation Type
Select Enterprise Edition, Standard Edition, Personal Edition, or Custom. Click Next

  • Problems downloading digital editions to Mac OS X version 10.6.8.

It won't let me download the program because it is saying that my system is out of date and I need to update it first. Is there another version/something else I can do? I don't have another software update available.

    Hi,
ADE does not put any minimum OS version restriction as such.
But you can try installing older version (ADE 3.0) from Adobe Digital Editions downloads.
    I hope it helps.

  • Oracle 9i Personal Edition Download Problem

    Hi there,
I'm currently attempting to download Oracle 9i Personal Edition, however upon clicking on the file link, I'm being constantly presented with the login page (even after having logged in). I checked my browser (MSIE 6) and cookies are enabled. Trying the same procedure for other files yielded the same unsuccessful results. Can anyone help please (my username is [email protected]). Thanks in advance!
    Regards,
    Johan

Download it again. I had the same problem the first time. It happens when there is a problem in your internet connection. The second time I downloaded it, it worked fine.
    Hope this helps.

  • Oracle9i Personal Edition - how to startup after DOWNLOAD

So that we may better diagnose DOWNLOAD problems, please provide the following information.
    - Server name
    - Filename
    - Date/Time
    - Browser + Version
    - O/S + Version
    - Error Msg
I downloaded the following product from your site today, Aug.17, 2002:
    Oracle9i Personal Edition
    Release 1 (9.0.1.1.0) for Windows 98
    Part Number A95905-01
After the installation, there was a message that said that installation was completed already,
and that I had to reboot the PC. And so I did.
Please take note that my database will be a "standalone" one.
I tried connecting as scott/tiger and I also tried connecting as scott/TIGER,
and I just left the field "Host String" blank, not knowing what to put in.
Normally, I was expecting a readme.txt that will provide that useful info, but I couldn't find one
    that would tell me.
Also, after I press the OK button in the ORACLE SQL*Plus Log on window,
it prompts me for an Oracle9i startup password.
    (Please see attached file.)
    Please advise.
    Best Regards,

If you are at the screen where it's asking for the sys and system password with confirmation, you need to enter the passwords.

  • Burning and installing 8i Personal Edition after download

    Hello,
I downloaded the Orcale DB 8i Personal Edition (nt817personal.zip) for WinNT/2000/XP.
I extracted the zip file and burned the contents on a CD ROM. During the burn software file scan, I got a message saying that the directory depth exceeds the ISO limt (8), and it could cause problems reading it on old operating systems. Since I intended to install it on Win2000, I chose to continue.
When I tried to install from the CD, the installaion stopped with no error during "analyzing dependencies" stage.
I copied all the files from the CD to the HD and tried again, but encountered the same problem.
Only after I downloaded the original file again, extracted it localy and installed from the HD did the installation go through.
I would like to have a CD copy of the installation file, what should I do ? should I burn the zipped file and extract it locally each time I need to install ?
BTW - I used EZ CD Creator to burn the CD.
    Thanks,
    Flash

The problem is that Personal 8i isn4t compatible with Windows ME. But don4t worry. There4s a solution. Before you install it, modify the WIN.INI file, in the section [Compatibility95], adding Jrew=0x00080000. Reboot your system and try to install it again. Good luck.

I am attempting to install Oracle 8i Personal Edition on a PC with Windows ME, 192MB RAM, and 15GB of HD space. The installation is on my D:\ partition and I simply cannot get past specifying a valid "destination" directory. The default destination directory specified by Oracle Installer does not work. I keep getting an error message telling me to check the path. I have tried changing it with no success. I leave the "source" directory as-is by default.
Does the Oracle Home need to be installed on the same drive that the OS directory is located on (C:\)? What am I doing wrong? Are there any pre-installation steps?
    Thanks for any help!<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

  • Can't download 9i personal edition

    I can't download the disk1.
    but disk2&3 are ok

Same with me. I tried Personal edition, Developer edition version 8, 8i, 9i.
My line is T1 and I was able to download at the speed of 4mb/sec. I couldn't open any of zip files.
Worked fine with the smaller files though (Drivers, patches, etc).
    I am behind firewall.
    Could it be a problem?

  • Unable to download Oracle9i Database Release 2 Enterprise/Standard/Personal Edition f

Unable to download Oracle9i Database Release 2 Enterprise/Standard/Personal Edition for Windows NT/2000/XP

If you read the Release notes for 9.2.0.3 for Win 2003, it says
"Releases prior to the 9.2.0.3.0 patch set are not certified on Windows Server 2003".
You'll avoid known and maybe some unknown problems with it, so just install 9.2.0.1 and then apply 9.2.0.3 patch set and be happy :)

  • Cannot download Oracle 9i personal edition

I am studying for Oracle DBA certification and was told that I could download a free version of Oracle 9i personal edition. After entering my userid and password, nothing happens. I have my Internet Options settings configured to accept cookies. What else can I try? Can I get a copy of this version on CD? What is the price?
This is for educational use only.

I'm not familiar with the specific offer you refer to, but all Oracle Database software can be downloaded here:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/database/oracle10g/index.html
and then used for free for educational purposes (OTN membership required).
