Problems downloading podcasts.........

Just installed the latest version of iTunes and all the podcasts I subscribed to I can no longer download. I get the following error message
+"There was a problem downloading 'podcast'. An unknown error occurred(-39).+
+Please check that the URL is correct and the connection to the network is is active and try again."+
Strange thing is though it only applies to the ones I subscribe to. Any other podcasts I can download like normal. I've even tried unsubscribing then subscribing again but this still doesn't work.
Any ideas?

I too am having that problem in much the same configuration!
I managed to get my podcastings by continuasly asking the Itunes to download.
Rughly about 20 times-
Dont anyone know what couses the problem!

Having problems downloading Podcasts to my Nano.  I re-installed iTunes but that didn't help.  I am not very computer literate.  Can anyone help?

Nevermind, I finally figured it out.  There was a different screen on iTunes.

  • "There was a problem downloading podcast. An unknown error occurred (-50)"

    Hello everyone,
When I try to download the latest episode of my podcast feed, I see an exclamation mark next to the episode. When I click on the exclamation mark for more information, I see the following error message:
"There was a problem downloading <podcast_episode>. An unknown error occurred (-50). Please check that the URL is correct and the connection to the network is active and try again."
I was hoping that somebody might take a look at my feed and review the code for any potential problems. It can be found here:
    http://www.stereogol.com/audio/wimpy_podcast.php
    Important notes:
    1. This is not XML code. It is an XML generator created in PHP.
    2. This feed used to work fine in iTunes. I had many episodes already downloaded.
    3. I began noticing the problem after upgrading to iTunes version 7 and beyond.
    4. I know at least 3 other people that experienced the same problem with my feed after upgrading.
    5. Upgrading to newer service packs (7.0.2 for example) has not solved the problem.
    6. I ran my feed through an RSS validator. It spotted 2 errors: (1) the width of the podcast image and (2) the syntax of the <source> tag. I made corrections but they did not solve the problem. I changed them back after that.
Thanks in advance for any input you can provide.
    Pedro

Try fixing up the validation issues...

Not promising it will help, but it's worth a shot.

  • Problem downloading podcast certain podcasts over wifi

I have a problem downloading 2 specific podcasts which i have never experienced before.  The two podcasts in question are "Janey Godley's podcast" and "Mike Harding's Folk Show".  Never had any problems downloading these podcasts in the past, but ive recently had problems with my broadband provider regarding my speeds.  This has now been sorted and every other podcast i subsribe to is downloading fine.
When i get to the two podcasts mentioned the download starts at around 80kb per second (opposed to my B/B speed of 3MB).  it then deteriorates till the speed drops to nothing and its says it will take over 2 hours to download. (both files are around 25MB-30MB).  I have tried unsubcribing, deleting and downloading form the source website but still the same problem.  i have also noticed that if i try to download previous episodes i'm getting the same problem also.
Tried downloading from podcast app on iphone 4s over wifi but again same problems.
I can dowload it from the podcast app over 3G with no problem on my phone.
Any ideas people, as the complete randomness of this has got me perplexed.
    I await your response
    David

    1. Check that the Podcast feed is still active, can you find it in the iTunes Store?
    2. Try downloading the episodes again, but don't try to download too many episodes at once, this can sometimes cause problems.
    3. Did your connection drop out while you were downloading these episodes?

  • Problem downloading podcast

hi, i've been having some troubles downloading my favorite podcast since upgrading to itunes 7.
in itunes 6 i downloaded hundreds of episodes of English as a second language podcast without any problem.
a few days ago itunes started downloading an episode but for some unknown reason it stopped and now i can't resume it, everytime i try to download it again it says 'url error'. how come did it download half of the podcast then??
today itunes downloaded a new episode, it downloaded the entire episode but there's a '!' next to the episode title and it says that the file is either corrupted or incorrect format, so itunes can't add it or play it. but the file is a normal mp3!!
i think it's itunes fault, since the podcast has always worked smoothly.
    does anybody have a solution??
    thanx

  • Problem downloading podcast video

Please note that l have the latest version of iTunes i.e iTunes 7.0.2 so it's not a version problem. pleaaaaaaase l beg you help me in my distress having such a nice toy and not being abble to profit fully of it is very but VERY frustrating.
    Thank you
    iPod video 30gb

no the podcaster is still on. i'm downloading some as we speak. Anyhow i've found the converted podcast in the movies library. Still like to know why i can pop them straight onto the ipod without converting though.
new thing i noticed. New converted podcast has 610MB where as original podcast was only 268MB?

  • There was a problem downloading podcast

If I get the error "The URL xxx could not be found on the server", how do I notify the iTunes store to remove the podcast? Doesn't the iTunes store automatically get notified when this happens?

    I guess nobody knows.

  • Problem downloading podcast feed to itunes

this website exists, but won't rss to itunes because the url could not be found on the server.
(www.undergroundfellowshiptelevision.info) what can i do to fix this?
i've been fighting with iweb to produce a podcast that can be found in the itunes store, (as roger w. knows very well) i seriously don't know why these mac products don't play nicely together.
a duplicate site exists, and DOES rss to itunes... but won't publish to the itunes store, because it is a forwarded url, i think. (www.undergroundfellowship.info/uftv)

That site gives the following link for the feed:
    itpc://www.undergroundfellowshiptelevision.info/undergroundfellowshiptelevision/ happiness/rss.xml
which does not work. The feed is actually at
    http://web.me.com/growingdeeper/uftv/happiness/rss.xml
but iTunes is working from an outdated feed at
    http://uftv.undergroundfellowship.info/rss2.aspx
So you will need to access that feed and apply the method detailed here to change itunes to a feed at whatever address you want it to be at (and then make sure the web page reflects the correct feed - you could also give the iTunes URL).
If you can no longer access the feed at http://uftv.undergroundfellowship.info/rss2.aspx you will have to submit a new feed as if it were a new podcast (you may need to change the title to get it accepted). I would recommend submitting the actual feed URL in either case, not using a redirect.

  • HT5295 I have read the other comments of others with the same problem of downloading podcasts and submitted my comment, but there is still no fix to the problem.Does anyone know why the trouble has not been taken care of?Who is the person dealing with this

the podcast app is not fixed still wont download, did not find any solutions with anyones comments, they all have the same problem with this app.So how can you say the problem is fixed, get someone who knows how to really do something so it is not a recurring topic of frustration!!!!!

You might get more replies to this (but not from Apple, who you will recall, do not monitor these discussions) if you had posted in the Podcasts for iOS discussions, but never mind. At least in this post you've mentioned that your problem is with the Podcast App, something you didn't mention in your previous post. Consequently, my comments were based on "problems downloading Podcasts", not "problems with the new Podcast App".
(I don't use the new Podcast App, since I cannot install iOS 5 on my Touch. So I stick with the older method of listening to Podcasts on my iPod.) That said however...
It cannot have escaped Apple's attention that the new Podcast App has not been well received. Although these discussions tend to focus on what's wrong rather than what's right, it does appear that the App hasn't been well thought out.
In particular, the Auto Play feature, which - once an episode has finished playing, the "next most recent unplayed episode" will begin. Now, maybe I'm wrong but to me that means that it plays the Podcasts in reverse date order, so episode 19 will play after episode 20 and episode 18 after ep.19! That is how the iPod Classic plays Podcasts by default and the Classic forum is littered with posts from people who think this is barmy. (I think it's barmy too!)
I use an iPod Touch as well. Although not perfect, playing Podcasts on the Touch is far easier than on a Classic.
You are unlikely to find any "solutions" to the issues with the Podcast App, because the "solution" is for Apple to redesign it.
If you are assuming that the update of 25th july is a claim that it's fixed... oh dear! I notice that the App views, shown in the Store, still include that "tortoise and hare" screen with what appears to be the transport mechanism for a reel-to-reel tape deck. That alone tells me there is no real improvement to the App. It really is the worst graphic Apple have ever produced! I'll be surprised if anyone under 35 recognises that graphic as a reel-to-reel tape deck.
Actually, I have a question for you.
If you have the Podcast App installed on your Touch, does that mean that the previous method of listening to Podcasts has been removed from your iPod, or can you still access them in the Music App? If you can, abandon the Podcast App and use the old method. If not, please warn me in order that I don't purchase a new iPod Touch until Apple fix this!
Sorry I can't be the bearer of more positive news.

  • TS2313 error message downloading podcasts in itunes

Whenever I try to download podcast episodes from iTunes I get an error message that reads: "There was a problem downloading <podcast>.  The file directory is corrupted or unreadable."  I don't understand this, because it happens with all of my podcasts.  It says check the URL connection, but the internet is fine and iTunes is working just fine.  I have previously downloaded these podcasts before without problems.  I unsubscribed and deleted all of the podcasts' content and then resubscribed, but it did not help.  What do I do?

I am marking this as answered as no-one seems to be interested. I guess I just have to be careful to run iTunes at least once a week to get all the episodes on my podcast list.

  • Can't download podcasts in iTunes

I have subscribed to several podcasts. It was since iTunes 6, I think, I can't download some podcasts. My connection is fine. It has improved a bit before with an update, but recently it has got worse. Only 2 podcasts can be downloaded now. Really frustrating. Anyone knows what's happening?
    Mac mini   Mac OS X (10.4.4)   1.25 GHz PowerPC G4, 512MB RAM

Hi. I'm having the same issue -- VERY frustrating. Here's what my exlamation says:
"There was a problem downloading [podcast name]. You Do not have enough access priveleges for this operation. Please check that the URL is correct and that the connection to the network is active and try again."
I have looked through my preferences and made sure that the "explicit content" one is NOT checked. I have looked through all other relavant preferences and found nothing out of the ordinary. This happens with EVERY SINGLE PODCAST that exists!!! The network is fine, because firefox runs smooth. I have trouble believing that ALL podcasts have the wrong URL, so what is going on.
Any and all Help is MUCH appreciated.
    Thanks.

  • Can I get help with podcasts?  When I try to open the podcasts, itunes crashes, says "itunes has detected a problem and must close", or the spanish equivalent since my xp is in spanish.  everything else works fine, it even downloads podcasts and syncs.

The only other thing I can suggest is to use the Repair option for iTunes.
Download the iTunes programme (do not uninstall your current iTunes) and then "install" the new copy. At some stage you should see an option to "install" or "Repair". Take the Repair option.
Once you've done that, if you still have a problem, I don't know what else to suggest, except to search through the discussions to see if anyone else has had the problem and managed to fix it.

  • Problem in updating applications and downloading podcasts after upgrading to iOS 6

Recently I have downloaded iOS 6.  Since then I cannot download podcasts and cannot update applications

Haha, thanks for the tip! I was just curious if anyone had this problem at all. I just found it odd that before iOS 6, I had version 5.1 (which came standard with my iPad at the time) and there was no delay. You click on/off button for Airplane Mode or WiFi and the function would turn on or off instantly... Just annoying have to wait several seconds for a response. Thanks for the input though.

  • Download podcast problems

uh, every now and then, (usually when there is a podcast that i want) it will download for about 5 minutes, and then stop. then when i try to do it again... it wont download, and when i click the "!" for more info it says...
"There was a problem downloading <insert podcast name here>. An unknown error occurred (-39)."
what the poop does that mean and how do i fix it?
Message was edited by: my nano is on the fritz! Help!

I had this same problem and figured out how to remedy it. you pretty much have to clear out a temp folder that itunes creates for downloads. the location is in
    My Documents\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Music\Downloads\.
In there you should see a folder called Podcasts. In that you should see the podcast/podcasts you're having problems downloading. Just delete the folder and try downloading it again. That should hopefully fix the problem.
