Problems downloading Skype

I have been having trouble downloading "Skype" the voice messenging service. Whne I download it everything is fine until I go to drop the skype icon into applications and then nothing happens, I click on the skype icon and all it does it bring up the window for me to drop the icon into applications again.
Has anyone else had this problem or something similar?

I'm also having this problem, how annoying?
I tried dragging the file to the apps folder, opened the file launching the programme, it saves a skype icon, i open it and then it tries to launch an icon in the tool bar and then vanishes?! Just can't get it to open... Do you have any suggestions?

The version for PPC Macs is v. 2.8.0.866 which you get from this link:

Problem download skype

Hi, I am trying to down load Skype not possible, i tried to delete the old version of skype and tried to download or update the skype not at all possible. Please help.

Can't download Skype for iPad

I have had Skype on my iPad for ages. Recently the latest update refused to download.
The error message - "There was a problem downloading 'Skype' for iPad. An unknown error (499)".
Suggestion was to check internet connection, which was fine.
I had the same prob on my iPhone (5), but eventually got it installed again by deleting it in iTunes/Apps, and re-installing. This didn't work for the iPad
iPad3; OS is up to date; I do not have Restrictions set on my iPad.

I've just downloaded the new OSX, 10.8.4 (mountain lion) and I have a problem downloading skype for example, it goes into de downloads file but when i try to open it to begin downloading the app, a window appears: and it doesn't let me download. Please help!!!

You're not alone. So far, after searching the discussions in X and 9, the only solution that works may be to reinstall everything. I'd hate to do that, too, but I haven't found a solution that works. (GUI or Terminal)

Password problem trying to download Skype

It may be me being thick but ...... on trying to download skype I am asked to enter my microsoft account password - I know this is correct as logged onto that account to be certain - but every time I enter the password I get "The password is incorrect, try again". I have tried using my skype password with the same result. Anyone have any bright ideas please ? Thanks in advance

Many developers when they updated their apps fro the newer iOSs dropped support for the older iOSs. That included Skype and other developers. Unless you have a copy of the apps version that was compatible with your iPod/iOS you are out of luck. Do you cave such a copy in a computer file backup??

Purchased a Impression I 7 Android tablet Cannot download Skype. These are cheap tablets. But my wife and I just wanted to use it for facebook Skype and news weather on the go . Please those in the know any help would be appreciated. We are completely stumped. Thank you..

My wife and I share our Mac OS 10.6.8 since downloading Skype on her account she can not stay connected to any web site she pulls up. I removed Skype from here account but it stll happens. What can I do to clear this up?

I have remove Skype from her account but not mine. I don't have the problem on my accout and I still have Skype loaded. How can I fix this problem?

O.k. Thanks for the clarification. I poked around in my TimeCapsule router's settings (TimeCapsule is an Apple Airport Extreme router with attached hard drive for wireless backup/storage). Unfortunately, it doesn't look like I can disable multicasting with the TimeCapsule. I can change the multicasting 'rate'. Settings are Low, Medium, High. It's currently set to Low.
I did a few web searches, and found an Apple.com article: <http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3789?viewlocale=en_US> which explained how to disable Bonjour Service Advertisements. I believe this is the same thing as 'Multicasting'. The process is a modification of "/System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.mDNSResponder.plist", and a restart of the Mac is required afterwards.
I'm a bit concerned that disabling multicasting will interfere with my AppleTVs and iTunes music sharing, but I may try it next time I'm up for a computer workout. This task will require editing of system preference files, could require multiple restarts, might interfere with my AppleTVs, could interfere with my iTunes file sharing, doesn't have a documented relationship to my problem.
This is way to difficult for something that should just work. Did you say you had read something about a relationship between this bonjour multicasting and smb connectivity? If it was online could you post the link?
I'm currently able to connect to the drive using NFS, but I have to manually configure that connection each time I reboot (can't get the 'Disk Utility' configured to do it automatically). While it's working with NFS, it's not my preferred connect method (for various reasons).

Let's see if the Skype Customer Service will respond to this inquiry in a manner which indicates that they have completely read and understood the situation which I am about to explain.
Over the past 8 years, I have been regularly using Skype to call family in Switzerland. That's Skype-to-Skype, not Skype-to-phone. I have either used a modern Macintosh (OS 10.6.8, using Skype 6.15) or most recently an iPhone5 (OS 8.1.3) and the downloaded Skype App. The person with whom I have been speaking in Switzerland has been using either a modern Windows PC or iPhone5.
Each time, I can't call them, and the person over there must first call me.
Each time, I can transmit a live picture to them, but I can not receive their picture.
Oh, yes, I just tried to message Skype Customer Service about this issue, and received the following message: “500 - Internal server error. There is a problem with the resource you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed.”

I can't download Skype for iPad

Whenever I try to download Skype for I iPad this message appears:
"You have already purchased this app. It will start downloading without any further payment." (Translation to English)
I downloaded Skype before for my iPhone. Now there is this little iCloud symbol next to the app. I press it, the message above appears but it doesn't download. I restarted my iPad But it didn't help.
Please inform me about any further solutions.

Big problems with Skype on Windows 8

Skype and Windows 8 suck. I have to sign in on one microsoft account, then when I go to download skype it comes up another email address, when trying to change it sends me in the same circle. I will not be using skype on windows 8 if I can help it. It used to be so simple and now they make it so complicated. I have wasted hours on this.

I am in a similar situation. I have a new laptop which came with Win8 - ditto W8 sux - I went to apps and there were 23 apps waiting to download and install - things that I never asked for are there - Bing, Kindle, shopping, several weather apps, etc. I click download and nothing completes downloading. The error says I cannot download apps because Win firewall is not running. my ISP (Comcast) provides Norton to customers. I stopped Norton and I was unable to start Win FW. I deleted Norton completely and still get the same message and still unable to start Win FW. Like the other user, I have also spent many hours trying to resolve this. I had Lenovo tech support try to help but they were also unable to fix the problem I called Lenovo Tech Support last Sunday and this time I was told software support is not included in the warranty! I checked the warranty and he was right - software is excluded. And we all know how hard it is to get support from Microsoft. So I had to go back to my backup laptop to run skype because I need Skype for business but that's an unacceptble solution... If I could download Skype without using the apps feature (i.e., download in a browser) I could probably get it to work but I keep being brought back to the app download section of Win 8.... i have a new computer only partly functional. I let the 90 day time frame for "Return for any reason" during 90 days followng the purchase run out so I get no help from Microsoft, Lenovo or Costco! Is there anything else I should try? Or do I just give up downloading additional software??
