Problems Downloading with Jetpack 5510L

I'm trying to help a friend who is having trouble downloading music files (from a DJ record pool) using the Jetpack 5510L.
I've seemed to determine that somehow, the Jetpack gets stuck when the file transfer command is issued. What seems to happen is that when she clicks on "Download file XYZ" the browser re-routes the request via some kind of proxy? The URL bar will read:
192.168.1.1:8181/http://www.xyzwebsite.com/download/song.mp3
for a moment before redirecting completely to a blank page with URL:
192.168.1.1:8181/blog
According to the Jetpack settings, there are no ports blocked. I'm not sure what's going on. Has anyone had any similar experience?
- m

Thanks for the info. My notes say CDO was preventing Malwarebytes’ updates so I disable it.
> The best part of it is that it will attempt to do the rewrite to 192.168.1.1:8181 even though the jetpack is not set to use that IP range as it's internal subnet range.
You lost me… The default subnet is 192.168.1.0  to  192.168.1.255.
8181 is a port designation which I don’t think are used with private IP addresses.

  • Problem downloading with 3.2.1

I have tried to download update 3.2.1 twice. Each time as it nears the end of the download I get the message "there was a problem downloading the software for the iPad "xxx". The network connection timed out."
I have upgraded to the newest version of iTunes. Rebooted my machine (Windows XP Pro Service pak 3). Still not luck.

I have the same problem. When I connect my iPad to my Windows XP computer, iTunes dutifully launches and prompts me to upgrade to iOS 3.2.1.
I have the latest version of iTunes.
    My iPad is fully charged.
I have tried this on several networks, both wired and wireless.
I have tried downloading without installing but that makes no difference.
Every time I try to download iTunes seems to progress nicely for a while, and the progress bar gets nearly half-way, but then it always displays the following message.
"There was a problem downloading the software for the iPad "My iPad". The network connection timed out."
I know my network connection is good and has not timed out because I can successfully browse the internet before, during and after this download. I have a fast 50Mbps cable connection, and usually get somewhere around 38-42Mbps in realworld usage.
I have temporarily removed my firewall, but it makes no difference.
I too have noticed that it doesn't make any difference what time of day you try it, or what day of the week it is.
    Any help appreciated.

  • Sooooooo disappointed with Jetpack 5510L

I suppose it's my fault and now I'm stuck in a contract for two years.  I bought this before moving to a rural area b/c I didn't want to pay for cable. I'm in a 3G area right off of the interstate. My smartphone has fine data coverage - not lightening speed but not pulling my hair out either.  Point being, coverage is not an issue.  I'm not that far out in the sticks.
The jetpack gets 4 bars and my laptop picks up the signal right away.  Every other time, there seems to be an issue of my PC saying it's connected but there's no internet access so that's annoying.  Once it's connected, general internet browsing tows the line between "tolerable" and "sloth-like."  Mostly tolerable.  I don't have a need for downloading music (though it'd be nice to have the option) but one of my few pleasure is watching movie trailers.  Last week I tried several clips and it took up to 15-25 minutes to play a 2:30 video.  I went to my local RadioShack and the manager said she's sold several for people in the area and there hasn't been a problem.  It's not lightening fast, but it does the job.  We did the hard reset and she called Verizon and they decided to replace the SIM card.  Got home from work that evening and that didn't seem to help. Walked through some trouble shooting with VZ reps again and then it was decided to send me a replacement device which I got today.  I've just had it set up for a few hours and no change.  Internet browsing is managable (I got here, didn't I?  But we'll see how long it takes to post this message)  Four bars, connected and more than 10 minutes to play a 1:30 long video (probably longer, I stopped trying)
Unless there's some other option that doesn't involve some ridiculous cancellation fee, I guess I'm stuck with this.  Sooooo disappointed

I'll just start by saying I know you are trying to do your job and I've never had bad customer service from any online or phone representatives but I'm also not in the mood to keep going over this over and over again and have a new person run through the same troubleshooting tips.
The zip is 81635 in a 3g area.  The phone plays videos fine. The jetpack is only connected to my laptop.  And for the last few days I've connected to an unsecure wireless connection with three bars and the speed of music, videos, etc was great.  The other secure wireless connections near me include at least one other jetpack (the user hasn't changed the network name).  And as I mentioned the manager at the RadioShack in town was surprised to hear of the difficulty I was having with this device.  That's it. That's all I know.

  • Reader 9.2.0 Problem Downloading with Firefox and Vista

After upgrading my adobe reader to 9.2.0 I have been unable to download the weekly pdf report from my US News and World Report site which worked fine before the upgrade. I am using Firefox on a home VISTA premium platform. Strangely, I can download using internet explorer 8 on the computer. I have been unable to resolve on the Firefox help forum. Thanks!

By chance I've found a workaround.
I noticed that the same bug occurred in Reader 8, so used the workaround recommended for that release.
I assigned a local printer as the default Windows printer. Reader then allows me to print so I can choose which printer (remote) on which to print.
However, it's poor that Adobe haven't yet fixed in Reader 9.0 a bug that was reported in Reader 8.

  • Problem downloading with internet explorer

when the adobe starts to install, theres an error screen that pops up telling me to "close internet explorer to continue".  When I do this the same screen just keeps popping up when I push "retry"

Are you able to do the install if you download using Firefox instead of IE?

  • Problems downloading with the Adobe Download Assistant behind a proxy

I'm attemtping to use Adobe Download Assistant from behind a proxy (specifically, one created by an IronPort data appliance).  Is there a way to set proxy information within Adobe Download Manager?  It doesn't seem to be pulling my system's settings, so attempting to download a product results in 101 errors no matter the destination.

Branched this out to a separate discussion.
The Adobe Download Assistant will use the proxy configuration for your computer.  If it is being blocked then please ensure that your proxy is configured to allow the Adobe Download Assistant to connect to the Internet.

    Hi.
This forum is for troubleshooting compatibility issues between Macs and Windows, not iTunes or iPods.
You should probably post your question in iTunes or iPod discussions:

  • Is the jetpack 5510L compatible with VPN use

My jetpack 5510L does not seem to be compatible with VPN use. I installed a personal protective VPN for use at hotspots when traveling. It worked flawlessly since installing this year. Now I am in a resort and using the Jetpack but I cannot keep a connection open with the VPN (surf easy). Is there some special setting I need to activate so that my jetpack cannot let me get internet traffic with a VPN interface? It has all the latest updates as of today. I use Macs and Apple devices. They all work fine with the same VPN program at a hotspot if I drive into town. They work fine at my house. It is only when I try to use the jetpack 5510L that it won't work. The VPN connects for a few seconds then gets disabled then re-establishes a connection then gets disabled and that cycle continues. In the few seconds that it is established, I can download a book or something but then it gets disabled and the file is corrupt. So is the jetpack compatible with VPN use?

What type of VPN are you using?
    1. PPTP VPN (Dial-up VPN)
    2. Site-to-Site VPN
    3. VPN Passthough
2 of them you will  need a static IP address at a cost of $500 from Verizon Wireless, the other you do not.

I have an iMac 27" and am trying to import some videos of a friends wedding into iMovie however one of the movies won't import. It doesn't say why or give any error message or codes.
All of the other movies on the card download with out a problem. The movie in question is not 'corrupt' as you can watch it in iMovie direct from the SD card but as soon as you try to import it, it  just says 'error'. iIve tried moving the file to an external drive ( and other variations on this theme) then importing but have had no luck.
    Can anyone please help me.

    The mystery remains....
Thanks for the pointers. The file type is .mts (a proprietry sony one).
I have now found some video converter software (Wondershare and iSkysoft) at a cost. Either will convert this file for me into .mp4. This I can then import into iMovie without any problems. I've checked this on the trial versions and it worked well but without paying am left with a giant watermark in the video
The mystery (which I still havent solved) is why did 20 other .mts files import fine and then this one not?
If you could point me in the direction of some free .mts converter software that would be the cherry on the cake.
    Thanks

You're not speaking to Apple on in this forum, nor will someone from Apple see this post.   We are just users like you and I.
Have you tried to restore or reset your phone?

Hi all,I have just purchased new iphone but have difficulty in completing the itunes download with message : problem with Windows installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected.
Would appreciate help...its driving me up the wall!!

Perhaps let's first try updating your Apple Software Update.
Launch Apple Software Update ("Start > All Programs > Apple Software Update"). Does it launch and offer you a newer version of Apple Software Update? If so, choose to install just that update to Apple Software Update. (Deselect any other software offered at the same time.)
If the ASU update goes through okay, try another iTunes install. Does it go through without the errors this time?

there's no pblm with my connection but this error keeps on showing,
    what to do? please help....

Stop with the silly and pointless fonts.
A simple search of the forums for the actual error would have revealed the resolution.
Temporarily disable all security software on the computer.

If you mean you subscribed to iTunes Match, you have to import your music into your iTuens library in order to add it to iTunes Match.  iTunes Match (and iCloud) only works with iOS devices and computers.  It won't work with your iPod Classic; you'll have to sync that with iTunes in order to add your music.
