Problems Dragging & Dropping & Defining Y Axis

I am new to Flash, but have taught myself quite a bit so far.
Right now I am having a problem with dragging and dropping action
script. What I want to do is have someone drag a pushpin graphic to
a part of the screen. And depending upon where they drag it
something will happen after they click a button. As far as I could
figure out, in order for this to happen I need to know the X &
Y coordinates of where I want the object to be. Here in lies the
problem, I can not get the Y axis to respond correctly.
When I set trace(mv_pushpin._y); in the begining of my code
before anything gets moved I get a correct reading. however, as
soon as I move it, and try and retrace it, it tells me that it is
undefined. The X axis works perfectly and I can get updated
readings as to where it is. But for the life of me, I can not
understand why I can't get a good reading on the Y axis. Does
anyone have any ideas? Thanks

you're doing something wrong. most likely it is a path
problem.
the trace() function is probably being called from a timeline
that does not contain mv_puspin.

Strange Problem Drag & Drop Between Lists

In the following code, drag & drop is set to copy objects, but when more than one instance of an item exists, only the last item (highest data provider index) item can be selected. Any idea why this is happening, and how to correct this?

Actually I have also face this problem in one of my appliocation so have done some work arround for that.
If we use object of ArrayCollection as 'key-value' (like- {label:'Fish'} ) pair than it work fine.
srcAC = new ArrayCollection([ {label:'Fish'},{label:'Meat'},{label:'Chicken'}]);
In case of
srcAC = new ArrayCollection(['Fish', 'Meat', 'Chicken']);
If we drop same item two times than list is not identify unique item of the list
and if we use objet like- {label:'Fish'} than every item is unique for list.
I m not sure this is right or not but it works fine.
Also we need to set 'labelField' of list as per object.

Filmware problems, drag & drop doesnt work anym

I have a problem with connecting my MicroPhoto to load the battery and add new music. I haven't had this before. I connected the player on the same way I always do and I got this 'recovery' screen. I could choose for a few options like: Clean, reboot, install filmware. I disconned and connected a few times but I kept getting it. Also the creative media explorer didnt recognise the player so I couldnt get in the harddisc of the player. Then I decided to install new filmware. I deleted to old filmware and installed the new one (my computer said it was the exact same version) Finally I could get into the harddisc again, but then I had a new problem. I couldn't add any music/files by just dragging and dropping. So I disconnected and connected the player, but its still the same. I can, however, add music with the other way (adding media).
Somehow the new filmware has blocked the option drag & drop.
What do I do with this?

How do you mean one direction? Do you mean making one map and put all the songs in there? I can not add songs in a map. I keep on getting the same message, really bizar.

Problem drag/dropping photos to other Apps (e.g. PowerPoint).

I just got a new camera (FujiFilm FinePix S5700) and the photos from this camera can't be drag/dropped to other apps. If I try it I get the error message "Quick Time and a Tiff decompressor are needed to see this picture"
That puzzles me because the file info shows the pictures as being jpeg files. If I export the photos somewhere else I can drag/drop them into other apps, but not directly from IPhoto. I have had photos from two other cameras and have not had this problem. Any ideas?

Try this test. Import a photo from the camera to the desktop first and then import into iPhoto. Now see if that photo can be dragged into another app. They do have a jpg extension on the file name, right?

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. ITunes music sync problem: "drag & drop" works; "Sync Music" doesn't?

I've been trying to sync a few new playlists of music to my iPhone 3GS with frustrating results.
I'm hoping someone can explain to me what I may be doing wrong.
In the past when I wanted to add new music to my iPhone I would use what I refer to as the "Sync Music" or Music tab method. I would rip the CD, create a new playlist for the album, plug in my iPhone, select it under the Devices list in iTunes then click on the Music tab up at the top of iTunes (I have "Sync Music" checked and "Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres" checked. I would scroll down through the list of playlists, find the new playlist I created and check the box next to it and sync my phone to add the new music.
This has worked flawlessly for years. Until now.
The last three albums I have tried to add this way will not sync to my 3GS. The music will play perfectly on my MacBook in iTunes. I ripped the music the same way, created the playlists the same way, and I can even get as far as the list of playlists under the "Sync Music" check box in the Music tab. I can see the new playlists in this list, I check the boxes indicating I want to sync them to my phone, but when I click Apply and then Sync, the music never shows up on my iPhone.
I keep every new album I import in it's own playlist, so being able to select which playlists I want to sync to my phone is definitely the method I would prefer to use, but since it wasn't working I tried checking the box next to "Manually manage music and videos" on the Summary tab. This of course disables the Music tab and unchecks the box next to "Sync Music".
I'm not too familiar with using this method to manage my music library, so maybe someone can show me a better way to do this, but with the "Manually manage music and videos" box checked the only way I know to add music to my iPhone is to drag a playlist one at a time from my iTunes library to my phone in the devices list.
This is where I get confused. For some reason the new ablums I ripped, which I was unable to sync the way I am used to ("Sync Music" check box/Music tab method), can be dragged and dropped onto my phone and they are copied to the phone without a problem.
WHY!?
Why, am I able to sync these ablums using this tedious and clunky drag and drop method and yet I'm unable to copy them to my iPhone using my prefered "Sync Music" checkbox method?
If you have any idea why I'm experiencing these problems or if you have experienced a similar problem please let me know.

This problem started last year when ios 8 was released. I think apple is trying to force users to buy music on iTunes store and that's why it's impossible to sync other music and also that's the reason why they haven't solved this serious problem. That's really disappoints me and i'm angry with apple because i have like 10 gb of music in mp3 and i can't sync music from iTunes to my iPhone.

Problem dragging/dropping bookmarks

Whenever I attempt to reorganize my bookmarks by dragging a bookmark, or bookmark folder, from one place to another in the bookmarks list I go nuts with frustration. The problem is that if I hesitate even for an instant over a folder as I make the move the folder opens and the screen begins to fill up with open bookmark folders. Is there any way to make this whole process less "sensitive" to even the briefest pause, or is there some trick of the trade I'm missing?

Problem: Drag&Drop over HTML-Elements does not work

Hello everybody,
I developed some sort of Clipboard, which consists of a canvas, on which you can drag around some customized components. These components consist of a panel, in which there is an mx:HTML-component and a text area.
The problem is that clicking into the panel-header area and dragging the component around only works as long as I the mouse pointer does not touch the mx:HTML component. This means, that when dragging the component over the region where its own(!) mx:HTML-component is located, the drag action is terminated. When the component is dragged over another components mx-HTML part, the drag action is also terminated.
Why does this happen?
If source code is needed, just ask and I will upload an example.

what if u hit design mode
and then switch off the design mode
sometimes this workaround helps
try contacting the basis people and make sure u havent installed the lates gui or something.
somethimes during upgrade or so this functionality doesnt work

PSE7 with Windows 7 - Drag & Drop Problems

have some people experince in PSE 7 with OS Windows 7?
I have some problems with the Drag & Drop function. If I drag a picturce from the explorer into PSE7, PSE7 freeze and need two minutes to come back. Have somebody any idea / solution?

Hi, It works good for me. can you please make sure that the file you are dragging is not too large or is not currupt. can you please confirm that it is opening fine in other applications like Windows picture viewer?

Strange problem with drag&drop!!

i have a strange problem but not like the other users with drag&drop in Leopard..
mine is not exactly like this:

i can hold left click and move files but when i need to "drop" them at the .app's window the app rejects the file back! (some of the applications not all!)
what i mean in examples is:
i cannot drag&drop anything in the VLC's player window but i can inside the vlc's "controller" window
i cannot drag&drop a picture in preview
i cannot drag&drop any file in photoshop's new file/empty canvas
i cannot drag&drop a mp3 file in itunes but i can drag&drop a full album folder(only in playlist,not in the player window)!
and i can describe more to show u that it's not about vlc or preview or PS problem, but finder's/leopard problem.
(i thought in the 1st, that it's vlc's problem and i downloaded a lot of versions!)
all the other programs works well, for example i can drag&drop a video to final cut or motion
i can do the same in iMovie (at the space it says"drag&drop media here etc)
and of course i can drag&drop files to desctop,hard disks etc.
i can copy/paste text etc (i can copy/paste texti can copy/paste texti can copy/paste texti can copy/paste text)
i am trying to give you an idea, suggest me what else should i try in order to focus where exactly the problem is!

I disagree. I have tried this since reading your post, on all my VLC versions. It does not work.
You can, however drop a movie onto the VLC icon in the dock. That works fine.
RealPlayer accepts a file dropped on it. I just checked it.
Not all apps accept a file on their output window. Usually only the input window.
i started my windows bootcamp partition before and i saw this works.
and i remember trying VLC in tiger a lot of years before, this was ok.
and yes of course it would be also normal to drop a picture in the photoshop canvas.
so what is not normal here is my problem, if u can help i'm happy if you cannot please don't confuse it more

Since upgrading to iTunes 10.5.2 Drag&Drop no longer works in iTunes. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

When I upgraded to iTunes 10.5.2 I lost the ability to Drag&Drop. I started a new playlist and I could only add songs by cut and paste, and once they were on the list I can’t rearrange them in any other order.

I realized I can't drag and drop either, but I barely have any songs and I've never noticed if this feature was there before 10.5.2. Is this only on a playlist?

Why can't I Drag & Drop a link from my address bar to my Bookmarks Toolbar in 4.0? I have the toolbar activated, but I can't do this. I was able to do it no problem with 3.6.

Drag & Drop for bookmarking a link from Address bar to Bookmarks Toolbar is not working in 4.0. Was working in 3.6, then I upgraded to 4.0 and everything got screwed up. How can I fix this?

I ditched 4.0 and went back to 3.6.17 but I can't drag and drop with it either. The Favicom idea didn't work for me either. Once in a great while it will work, but usually that ends up screwing up my bookmarks and everything being re-arranged. How could something so simple and basic NOT WORK anymore?

Can open Topics by drag & drop, but not by double-clicking in the DITA map

Hi,
evidently I made an error somewhere in my structure app, the result is that I cannot open DITA topics by double clicking them in the DITA map anymore (Framemaker does simpy nothing). I can, however, open them by dragging the xml files onto the Framemaker window. If I use the standard DITA 1.2 application everything works fine so I guess the problem is in my mapping.
Here is what I tried to achieve:
We need certain variations of the normal 'topic' type topic. The DTD should be identical, however different structures should be auto-inserted when creating a topic and the topic should have certain attribute values predefined.
The idea is that the author can select one of these topic types when creating a topic, but when opening an existing topic simply edit it with the standard topic temple.
Here is what I did:
I duplicated the topic.template.fm, renaming it say "topic_a.template.fm", "topic_b.template.fm" etc. (just an example).
I made adjustments to the EDD of these templates, changing the auto-insertions and the default values of some attributes.
In the structapps.fm file I added XML applications for these new topic types, mapping each application to one of the new templates, but to the original topic DTD and r/w rules. E.g. the application "DITA_1.2_topic_a" is mapped to the "topic_a.template.fm" template, and to the original "topic.dtd" and "topic.rules.txt" files.
In Framemaker I then created corresponding application mappings in the DITA options. E.g. the topic type "A" (which defines the visible text in the "New topic" menu) is maped to the XML application "DITA_1.2_topic_a".
The result:
It works as intended in every way when creating topics. The topics are saved with the standard doctype 'topic'. However for when I try to open topics from the DTD by double-clicking then nothing happens. Opening topics by drag & drop works fine though and they are opened with the normal (general) "topic.template.fm" template as desired.
Any ideas? Was this confusing or am I completely off somewhere?

When you say that you need "variations" from the normal topic type .. are those structural variations or just formatting? FM associates structure apps with XML files based on the doctype (root element). If your files all have the same root element, then they will all open with the same structure application (unless you specify a different one when opening the file or by importing a new EDD). It sounds like you really should be creating a specialization for each alternate topic type. If you don't, you'll end up getting the wrong "model" assigned to the wrong file.
Multiple EDDs (structure apps) can share the same DTD, and one EDD (structure app) can support multiple models. This is how the "ditabase" app works. There are lots of ways to set this up, but I think what you've done is probably not quite right.
The default structure app setup in FM11 and FM12 is very complicated to work with. I recommend creating a single app that supports many models. This isn't always possible, but it sounds like in your case it should be. I've set up one app that supports 13 different specialized topic models and it works fine.
Note that even though you've added structure apps for each model, if you end up opening the files using the default template, you are no longer using those modified models.

Drag drop from bridge to InDesign.

I am having problems with getting drag drop to work from bridge to InDesign. I have made an extension that reads information from ouer dam and shows it in bridge. I wont to bee able to drag a node from that data from bridge(It shows fine in bridge with thumbs) to InDesign. I have enabled:

It has just never worked that way and I've never seen a request for it either.

Unable to double-click or drag/drop files to open.

I'm running Photoshop CC 64 on a Windows 7 64 machine and am only able to open files in Photoshop by going to File->Open. Double-clicking from Explorer doesn't work and i can not drag/drop files into the open application window or taskbar icon. Right clicking on files and selecting "Open with" also doesn't work.
I checked file associations and made sure to choose CC 64. If I right click on the shortcut and choose "Run As Administrator" which I have to do in order to get files to open between Lightroom and Photoshop (both need to be Run As Administrator), I'm still unable to open from Windows Explorer. However, if I check the box to "Run this program as administrator" in the shortcut's Compatibility tab, I can double-click to open from Explorer but am prompted with a UAC warning every time. Dragging/dropping into the open app still doesn't work.
Opening between Bridge and PS works as expected so long as both programs are "Run As Administrator"
Been searching the forums here and seen suggestions of similar but not the same issue, at least not that I've found.
Anyone else experiencing? Suggested remedies?

This is an OS permission problem. Make sure you have ownership of the HD. Do a web search on how to check. External HD can be a problem for permission.

Reinstalling CS2, and dragging/dropping files does not work

I have Photoshop CS2. Or at least I
had it. I had updated my operating system to Tiger, and it just caused a bunch of files to change, nothing really bad. It gave me an error message upon opening photoshop that "files necessary for running Photoshop were missing from the Application Support folder"
So I read the advice on this FAQ:

The problem you got into is a known problem after updating to Tiger. It is a small 4K file that gets trashed with the update. It is called the Adobe Unit Types. Both Photoshop and Photoshop Elements need this file to function.
One way to get it back is to reinstall Photoshop, the other is to add this file again.

[hard disk] /Library/ScriptingAdditions. If you don't have a Scripting Additions folder, you create it.
As you trashed Photoshop, you need to completely deinstall it to be able to reinstall it.
