Problems editing adobe 9 pro PDF in adobe X pro

Using Outlook 2007, I created a PDF of all items that were in a folder I created.  The version I was using at the time was Adobe Acrobat pro 9.  In version 9, I had a field that I could populate called "Jurisdiction", which was available as a column that I could choose to view.
I have since upgraded to Adobe Pro X and when I open that PDF, I have no ability to edit it.  I see Jurisdicition as a column but I am not able to make any changes.  I have tried opening directly in Adobe Pro and it doesnt make any difference.  I checked my security settings and nothing indicates this as read only.
Another thing that I tried was to recreate this PDF using Adobe X.  When I do that, not only am I unable to edit the NEW PDF but Jurisdiction doesnt even show up as an option.
Please help.
Laura

Thank you again for the reply. I have been worried it's an x64 issue. Normally everything works so well though. I certainly understand that any program may have issues and crash from time to time.
What would really be helpful is more info on the auto-save feature. I have not been able to find any way to modify its settings (other than on/off and how often). Does anyone know of a way to not merely auto-save a backup, but to have Adobe automatically save an open PDF on a specific interval, equal to ctrl-s to save? Thanks again for any help.

  • How to convert the Adobe 10 PDF to Adobe LiveCycle ES2 so that I can make the text boxes expandable?

When I convert the Adobe 10 PDF to Adobe LiveCycle ES2 it is a static document, thus not allowing me to make the text boxes expandable.  How do I take a current Adobe 10 PDF with Text and convert it to Adobe LiveCycle ES2 so that I can make the text boxes expandable?

    Hi Alan,
TextField objects can expand dynamically.  There are a few things that you need to do:
    1. The TextField object should be contained in a subform that is set to Content: Flowed.  This isn't technically necessary, but if you have anything below the expanding text box and the subform is set to Positioned, the text will expand and overlay what's below.
    2. On the Field tab of the text field's Object property tab, check the Allow Multiple Lines checkbox
    3. On the Layout tab, check the Expand To Fit checkbox under Y:/Height
    4. Set the PDF Render Format under Form Properties/Defaults to Dynamic XML Form.  If you're previewing in Designer, don't forget to set the preview to Dynamic too.

  • I want to upgrade adobe export PDF to adobe acrobat XI

I want to upgrade adobe export PDF to adobe acrobat XI

You can check on the Adobe site, but I do not think there is such an option. You can upgrade a previous version of Acrobat back to AA 9, but nothing else. Go to Products and select to buy Acrobat. Then change to upgrade and you will see only Acrobat is an option.

  • Problems editing text in pdf file

I have a user that is using Adobe Acrobat 8 Standard and is wanting to edit a pdf form that someone sent him.  When we open it and I use the Touchup Text Tool to try and delete some of the text it throws off the entire layout of the document.  Is this because this document wasn't originally set up as a pdf? I don't understand why my edits throw everything off.  For example when I highlight the white text in the reddish colored header and start typing new text, the new text appears down below the header next to the "For daily and terminal cleaning" text.  I tried resaving the file and even tried exporting it to Word etc, and then reopening in Adobe Acrobat 8 Standard but none of that helped.  Am I completely missing something easy in this program?  I thought this would be a simple task.
    Thanks for any help.

    Hi Bill,
I have used the Text Touchup Tool to jump around through the document.  The document is broken up into sections that are editable, but any editing of the very top part throws everything way off.  I don't know anything about Designer.  Do you think it's possible this document was created in something like Word and was scanned in as a pdf and that is why I am having a hard time editing it?
    Thanks, malaize

  • How to edit sheet music pdf files in Acrobat Pro XI?

    Hello,
I am hoping to find a way to cut out parts of a musical score to save on page turns when reading the music with my instrument.  Specifically, in guitar music there is often tablature directly underneath the music staff which makes for more pages in a piece.  I would like to cut out the tabs so that only music notation is on the page.  Is this possible in Acrobat or do I need to use photoshop or indesign or??  I would really like to find an elctronic way of doing this- for so many years I've assembled by physically cutting and pasting strips of the score to produce the music-only version.
Any insight into this would be greatly appreciated.  I am a complete beginner with Adobe products (except for Audition).
    Myrtle

Not really practical, I'm afraid. Capturing screenshots and cutting them up is possible with Photoshop, but PDF editing is very limited (fix a typo, move a picture).

  • The 'applications' tab in tools does not list Adobe documents (pdf), only adobe forms - so it will not open pdfs properly. How do i add an item to Applications?

The topic in Help relating to the Applications manager tab shows Adobe.pdf as a separate line, but it does not appear in my set up. I can download pdf files, but not open them online (e.g hotel menus etc.)

I have a similar problem. Even though Word is listed under Firefox applications as opening .doc files, when I try to download a .doc file, it always asks me to choose an application and I have to go through an extra three steps to open Word.

  • Does anybody know if Adobe Export PDF can do something that Adobe PDF Pack can't?

I only need to scan and download documents into a pdf format, convert pdf docs to
Word or Excel for editing and  visa versa.    I have both Adobe Export PDF and Adobe PDF Pack.  Don't remember why I bought both of them.  It looks like PDF Pack does everything that Export PDF does, plus a bunch of other things.  They are both up for renewal in November.   I think I can drop Adobe Export PDF and just keep Adobe PDF Pack.  Does anybody know if there's any reason I should keep Adobe Export PDF?

    Hi,
here a translation of a "judging" of a German computer newspaper, which I tried to translate:
Adobe Export PDF - professional conversion tool on the Web:
Users get the opportunity to as many PDF documents into Office formats Word (. Doc and. Docx) and Excel (. Xlsx) as well as in the Rich Text Format (RTF) to export. As the provider explained, paragraphs, and paragraph spacing, multi-column text, images and tables are taken. Also scanned PDF documents could be easily convert, so Adobe. With the help of OCR technology (Optical Character Recognition), users can edit the documents after converting any.
Conclusion: Who wants to export important PDF files to Word, Excel or RTF and is willing to spend a little money for a reliable solution which finds Adobe PDF export the appropriate tool.
What concerns Using Adobe PDF Pack see here: http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat-com/kb/using-pdfpack.html

  • Missing Details in Adobe's PDF User Guide

Does anyone know where to find the following documentation:
    1) A more precise description of numerous commands that are poorly specified (or not at all) in Adobe's PDF, "Using Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2" (e.g., "Promote Subfolders..." and "Update Folder Location...")?
    2) An exhaustive list of all commands that actually make changes to either the directory structure or the image files on the hard disk (as opposed to just to the Lightroom catalog)?
    3) I'm sure there are other missing details for which others have had to request clarification in this forum or elsewhere.  What are your favorite references?
                             Thanks in Advance -- JClarkW

Thanks, blzrdphoto, but that link appears identical to Adobe's PDF, "Using Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2" (lightroom_2_help.pdf), whichI was able to download from somewhere. -- JClarkW
The link is the same, but the actual content changes often. One can find the date of the most recent update at the bottom of the first page in the pdf (link in upper left). Currently the most recent update is June 25.
Now whether any of the updates will address any specific deficiency/error is unknown unless one looks deeper--if only Adobe published a page of the recent changes at the beginning...

  • Adobe X PDF files converted to jpg, edited and converted back to PDF have ragged, unclear text.  I didn't have this problem with Acrobat 9 standard.  What is the remedy for this.  If this is the best I can expect, I won't be able to use X standard.

I can't imagine any worse workflow than converting to JPEG to edit text, then back to PDF. Text in a PDF is a vector thing, smooth at all resolutions. And JPEG is made for photos. EVERY conversion to JPEG and back loses quality but how much loss there is will vary.
If you must go to an image format, try PNG.

  • How can i edit a scanned pdf file in adobe 9 pro ?

how can i edit a scanned pdf file in adobe acrobae 9 pro ?

With Clear Scan you get the text replacing the graphics of text. That can be edited. If you do searchable PDF conversion, you can still edit (I think). However it is an edit of the hidden layer of text behind the graphic and does not show on screen normally.
Usually the best choice is to ask the author for the original file to edit. If that is a copyright issue, then you should not be editing anyway.

  • Adobe Reader XI and Adobe Reader X Pro (Editable PDF Combobox Search is not working properly.)

I have created Editable PDF using itext(5.3.0) in java. I have used Adobe Reader XI and Adobe Reader X Pro.  But in editable PDF combobox search is  not working properly.
    It's only search first character.

My (admittedly old and slow) system did this too the first time I opened Reader 11, but it "unfroze" after about fifteen seconds, (an eternity in computing time, I know, but it did eventually open all the way) What you're seeing on the right is the "Tools" panel initializing. That's exactly where mine would freeze up on starting. Once it did finally open fully, I clicked the "Tools" link at the top to close the panel, and I opened and viewed a document that way, then closed reader. Now when I open Reader, the Tools panel doesn't initialize and it opens immediately.
Reboot and before you open anything else, open Reader. When you open it, DO NOT try to do anything with it until it fully opens, don't click anything, don't try to switch to another app. Give it time to open fully, and then click the Tools link to close it. Then, open and view a document, and close it. Close Reader and reopen it. the Tools panel should remain closed and Reader should open fully immediately.
