Problems embedding Japanese font

I'm having problems embedding the font Ryumin-light. It's a Japanese font that is not essential to my document but I'm placing a PDF file that uses the font. I get the message that it can't be embedded at preflight. I don't have the full version of the font and even though it is listed as free at Adobe the file is missing - http://www.adobe.com/jp/support/qa/ciddown.html The publisher won't accept the document with the errors so I don't know what to do next, I'm very new to Indesign.

To use the links on that page you must right-click/Control-Click the link and choose Save Link As...

  • Help: Embedding Japanese Fonts in Flash cs5 is actionscript

I have been trying to embed "小塚ゴシック Pro M" font via export for actionscript and I haven't had luck so far. I did the font.registration method but still no luck I had no problem doing this in CS3 and CS4 but CS5 must be different. Anybody got this to work?
    TIA
    Gerry

I got it. For those who might have the same question.
register font and use the name you used to export to actionscript like:
    Font.registerFont(Font2);
to use, create a variable for the font:
    var myFont = new Font2();
    to apply:
    urTextFormatvarhere.font = myFont.fontName;
    I did this to apply alpha;
    urTextFieldvarhere.embedFonts = true;
    urTextFieldvarhere.antiAliasType = AntiAliasType.ADVANCED;
    Hope this helps!

  • Problem with Acrobat 8.12 keeps trying to install Japanese Font Pack

I have a client who received a pdf file and when she opened it she was told that it needed the Japanese Font Pack. I gave her admin rights but it still keeps doing it. My pc with the same setup works perfectly fine with the offending file. Now everytime she opens any PDF it tries to open the offending file first and load the font pack. I was able to go into the registry and remove the keys that mention the file and Acrobat works fine as long as we do not try and open that file again. We have installed the font pack separately. The offending file opens fine in Reader. Any idea why this would keep happening and if there is a solution to stop it from happening. Thank you.

Actually, since I started getting the security warning, I haven't tried it on another machine. You think this information might be only stored on my machine? It's worth trying... Thanks!

  • Displaying Japanese Fonts Problem

I am attempting to edit a RH7 HTML project created in Japanese.
I have Japanese fonts installed and the page displays correctly in the Design window. However, the fonts do not display correctly in the TOC window. Typically, 演算設定選択ワークフローブロック displays correctly on the page and in the Topic Title field looks like ‰‰ŽZÝ’è‘I‘ðƒ[ƒNƒtƒ[ƒuƒƒbƒN in the TOC. Whilst I can understand neither, the end user might notice.
    Does anyone know why please.
    Regards
    Steve

I would advice you to install a new mid tier with Japanese language.

This is happening if we open a PDF with Japanese font in Windows7 OS.
Tried to install Japanese font pack for Japanese Adobe X. But that is not getting installed with an error message : 'Install Adobe X before installing Japanese font pack'.
Only fontpacks for 10.1 version could get installed successfully. But its again same issue.
    Can anyone hele here?
    Thanks,

When that happens, can you check with the Task Manager (Processes tab) if AcroRd32.exe is already running?  If so, can you kill the process from Task Manager and try again?
Another thing to try when this happens is to restart Windows, does it work after that?

  • OT: Problems Embedding Fonts.

    Hi all...
    Sorry for this but..
I am using MS Weft v 3.4.2 to embed the Shusha Tru Type font
    on a web site
    in the Hindi language.
I have cleaned up all the files and ensured that all font
    styles are correct
    and applied.
Having run the site files through Weft, it inserts a style
    sheet which
defines the fonts ie Shusha.eot - which it places in the site
    root.
There are 75 recognised web pages which are in
    content/product relevant
    folders.
I am using a Project Seven Anderson Jones template with Pop
    Menu magic.
Uploading the files to the server...the index page is OK
    showing the text in
the Shusha font....but no other page does!
On each page , in the head section, Weft places the style
    sheet for the
    Shusha embedded eot fonts.
I have tried creating a font folder and altering the Weft CSS
    to point to it
and the coreect eot font....still rubbish.
I have probably got myself lost in this an am missing
    something
basic...although I am not a CSS "capable" person!
I cannot fathom out why its OK on the index page but useless
    on every other
    page..
Any suggestions or alternative would save me from more hours
    of mental pain!
    TIA
    SB

I'm used to it. They already do! 8)

  • Illustrator CS5 - Save as SVG - Problems embedding fonts

    This is what is happening:
    1. I create a new illustrator document.
    2. I create a text-box in it, and write something. Like "test".
    3. I use the default font face (Myriad Pro) (Any other font will give the same result)
    4. I save as Svg.
    5. In "Fonts" I choose "SVG" and "All Glyphs" (Only Glyphs used gives same result) (SVG profile: SVG 1.1)
    6. Illustrator alerts "One or more of the fonts could not be embedded. Please check the output document and directory."
    7. It saves as SVG, but without embedding the fonts.
And it does not embed the font. I've tried with different fonts, with same result. I've tried with several text boxes, with different fonts, with same result: No fonts are embedded.
Any ideas about what might be going on here?

My PDF files are showing the fonts being live no matter what Adobe preset setting I used. The only way to get the fonts embedded is to outline them first in illustrator. I attached a screen capture to prove that they are still live in the PDF file. This means if the recipient don't have these fonts, they will default to something else.

  • Need help - problems with embedding bold fonts (Flash CS3, AS3)

So I'm tearing my hair out over this one project where I'm
trying to embed Arial in a project so that it can be used by two
different dynamic text fields. Nothing I seems to do works. If I
try embedding the font using the Properties window and set the text
fields to bold, the text doesn't appear. If I debold the two text
fields, the text DOES appear - but of course, without the bold. If
I try to embed the font in the library, link it, and use two
different TextFormat objects to format the text fields, the text
shows up - but it isn't bold, even though I set the TextFormat.bold
    property to true.
So what's going on here? How can I fix this?
    Thank you for your time.

In the Library, choose 'New Font'. Select 'Arial Bold' from
the 'Font' drop-down (don't just select Arial and click the bold
checkbox). Select the newly added from from the Library,
right-click and choose 'Linkage' from the context menu, and click
'Export for ActionScript'. The Linkage field should read eg 'Arial
    Bold'.
If you want to apply Arial Bold to an entire text field,
select the field and, in the Font drop-down in the Property
Inspector, look for 'Arial Bold*' (with an asterisk): this is the
embedded version of Arial Bold that you just created.
So, you're using a specific Bold version of the font, not
merely setting a font to bold.

  • Crystal Reports 2008 export to PDF does not render Japanese fonts

    Hello,
I have searched the forums for this issue, and there does not seem to be a clear resolution to this problem.  We are using CR2008 to create RPT files that are bundled with our custom .NET 2005 application, which then generates reports in PDF format by running the RPT files against an access mdb database using the CR2008 runtime (our application is deployed on a different machine than the one that is used to create the RPT files).  The issue we are having occurs when data in the access mdb file contains Strings with Japanese characters.  The system that our application is running on does contain the eastern asian language fonts so if a user opens the mdb file using access, they can see the Unicode strings in the database rendered properly (rather than the usual boxes and garbage).  However, once our application generates the report filling in the rpt file with data from the mdb and exporting the report to pdf format, the entries that should contain Japanese font data, which leads me to believe the problem is in the export pdf function of the crystal reports 2008 runtime.  Is there anyway we can configure the runtime to properly embed the fonts in the PDF so that the users can view the Japanese content from the database.  Our users end up viewing reports on both OSX and Windows using Adobe Acrobat Reader.
Thank you very much in advance

    Thanks for the quick reply!
    1) Exact version of Crystal Reports. (Open Crystal Developer. Go to Help> About Crystal Reports).
    12.0.0.683
    Type: Full
    2) What happens if you export the report to PDF format from the standalone Crystal Reports Designer?
Same result.  The entry shows up as giberish in the report designer preview...however, by doing this I stumbled upon something.  See below
    3) Are you able to export the report to other formats without any issue?
    See Note below
    NOTE:
In another part of the report, I just put the fields in question directly in the report (that is, not embedded in a text object).  That part of the report when run produces the correct non-gibberish, properly rendered Japanese result (in the CR designer preview).  The same field, however, when embedded in a text object, results in the gibberish being shown in the designer preview as well.
Now when I export this to PDF, that ends up turning both areas into the incorrect, gibberish result.  Both the one that did properly render in the preview (field not embedded in text object) and the one in the text object.
Exporting to any other format (tried xls, rtf and html) results in correct rendering for the field not embedded in the text object and incorrect rendering for the field embedded in a text object.
Hope this helps with the problem, and I think it means this thread probably still belongs under this current forum.
    Cheers

  • Japanese fonts appear larger in Flash Player  10.0.42.34

    Hi
We're experiencing a strange problem in a flash swf object embedded on an aspx page in a .net web application.
    Environment :
    Adobe Flash Player  :  10.0.42.34
    Browesers : IE 6 , 7  Firefox 3.5
    Client machine configuration :
         Windows XP SP3
         East Asian Language Pack installed.
         Flash player version 10.0.42.34 installed.
We're displaying Japanese text on the page through the flash player.
What happens is that randomly on some client machines the Japanese fonts appear too large in size while on others
    they appear perfectly fine.
We also have English , Honkkong and Chinese  versions of the page ..all of which work perfectly fine across all client machines.
The issue is only with the Japanese version.
Any pointers on this guys .... ?
    Please help !!!!
    Thanks

Sure , here is the url :
    http://www.forevermark.com/ja-jp/The-World-of-Forevermark-/Precious-Collection/
On some machines , the Japanese text in the centre section appears very large. ..( see attached snapshot)
We initially encountered this on the version prior to the 10.0.42.34 version.
However even after the upgrading to 10.0.42.34 , the problem still persists .
    Thanks

  • Why does embedding Adobe fonts in EPUB cause all text to display as oblique?

I have been having this problem for a while now to various degrees, and I stopped using InDesign to build and export EPUB files for a long time because of it. Lately I have decided to try reintroducing InDesign into my EPUB workflow. However, I have found that whenever I try to export an EPUB 2 file from InDesign CC 2014.1 while embedding Adobe fonts, all the text in the EPUB displays as oblique when I open the resulting file in Sigil or Calibre. Removing and then re-adding the fonts with no obfuscation does not correct the issue. Not embedding the fonts during export -- or removing them from the EPUB entirely -- eliminates the display problem, but obviously I can't expect people to have these fonts installed on their computers.
I do believe most Adobe font licenses allow for embedding, so I don't think this is a security issue. For the sake of this discussion the issue I am having is with Arno Pro OTF (Regular, Italic, Bold).
I can't find anything about this on the web. Can anyone help me with this issue, or has anyone else experienced this at least?
    Thanks!
    Allen

Here's another piece of information to add to the puzzle. The first screenshot is from Calibre on an PC with Windows 8.1 (using Google Chrome as default search engine). The second is from Calibre on a Mac with Yosemite 10.10.1 (using Safari 8.0.2 as default search engine). Both with the same ePub file created on CC2014 on the Mac using Arno Pro for the Latin text, Adobe Song for Chinese, and Deja Vu Sans for the Hexagram

  • Japanese font package being required for form without Japanese

I created a form in Adobe Acrobat Pro using (as far as I know) all English characters.  I saved the form and am now trying to open it on another computer that has Acrobat Reader X.  The error message I'm receiving is "A font package is required to correctly display this page.  Click OK to direct your browser to download the add-on from adobe.com...."  The font package that it wants me to load is Japanese.  Once I load that font pack, the form opens without any problems.
I'm not the only one having this problem, others who are trying to open the form are experiencing the same difficulty.
So, why does Reader think my form contains Japanese fonts, and how do I get rid of them so others can open the form without having to install a font package?
    Thanks!

As far as I can see, there are no asian characters there.  Here are the fonts listed:
    BellGothicStd-Bold
    FuturaBT-BoldCondensed
    FuturaBT-Book
    FuturaBT-BookItalic
    FuturaBT-Light
    FuturaBT-LightItalic
    Helvetica

    Thanks again!

  • Having Problem with Asian Fonts

I'm having a problem installing the packages ttf-arphic-ukai and ttf-arphic-uming.  They install fine, but it completely corrupts all my fonts.
Any new applications that are launched (or when KDE is relaunched) have nothing but boxes for the fonts, and, when I log out of KDE to KDM, everything appears as boxes.  If I log in to KDE and check out the Fonts section in KControl, it just crashes.
Thinking it was just a KDE issue, I installed Fluxbox, and it won't even start.
This is a brand new installed based off of the 0.7.2 base ISO, and I've updated everything completely.  Before the fonts are installed, everything is working perfectly.  Any suggestions?  Thanks!

On Friday I started to develop a page that had japanese translation. I had no problems with it.
Anyway, I realized something that may help you. No matter what font i choosed, japanesse characters where allways showed, and they were always the same.
It means that asian fonts override standard fonts. What can be happening to you is that you don't have the fonts properly configured (either the fonts by themselves, or in Xorg).
I don't know enough about fonts to give you more information about it, but what you should do after reading this is uninstall all asiatic fonts, install japanese fonts, install kde-i18n-jp and create an a user account with KDE set to japanese language and see if it works well to you. If it does not work then the problem is in your configuration. If it works well then do the same with the asian fonts. If they are still not working then to me it looks as a bug, and you should report it.
