Problems Exporting Captivate to Flash

When exporting a Captivate 3 file to Flash CS3, the area I
recorded appears very small. However the mouse movements seem to be
clicking on a much larger image, around the small one. I have the
stage size and framerate matching the Captivate settings, so I am
not sure what's up.
Also, I noticed the skin I selected doesn't seem to transfer
to Flash, so no playback controls. Is that too much to ask for, or
is there a way to get those Captivate skins into my Flash
file?

- The slide backgrounds are all held on one layer in Flash.
Looks to
consistently be layer 2, named Slide Backgrounds :-)
- This layer is locked. So click on the little padlock and
unlock the layer.
- Select "Onion Skin" and "Edit Multiple Frames"
- Two little 'start onion skin" and "end onion skin"
indicators appear at
the top of the timeline - move them to the start and end of
the timeline, so
they encompass the whole project.
- Select the Slide Backgrounds layer so that all of the Slide
Background
images are selected at once. You may need to also click on
the background.
- If you get it right. You'll see size and location values
for the
background in the Properties panel.
- Type in the correct slide background size, and position
0,0.

    Hi mindtube and welcome to our community
    I am inferring from your question that you may think Adobe
    employees are monitoring this forum. While we might see one or two
    pop in here and there, by and large this is a total "user-to-user"

  • UrlParam problem with Captivate 7 Flash output

    Has anyone else had trouble with urlParam in Flash output for Captivate 7?  I can't grab the first variable.  It works fine with HTML5 output.  Here is the script:
    var objCP
    if (typeof window.cp==='undefined') {
    var objCp=document.getElementById('Captivate');
    if(objCp && objCp.cpEIGetValue){
      isHTML5 = false;
    else {
    if(cp.vm && cp.vm.getVariableValue){
      isHTML5 = true;
    var oURL = window.location.href.toString();
    var URLparams = new Array();
    if (oURL.indexOf("?") > 0){
    //var split up by
    var sValues = oURL.split("?");
    var aValues = sValues[1].split("&");
    for (i=0;i<aValues.length;i++){
      //split by = sign
    var sEquals = aValues[i].split("=");
    URLparams[sEquals[0]]=sEquals[1];
    setValue('checksum', URLparams);
    setValue('csid', URLparams);
    setValue('id', URLparams);
    function setValue(id, URLParams){
    if(isHTML5){
      if(typeof window[id] === 'undefined'){
       cp.vm.setVariableValue(id, URLparams[id]);
      } else {
       window[id] =URLparams[id];
      } else {
      objCP.cpEISetValue(id, URLparams[id]);
    function getURLvalue(id, myarray){
    for(var i=0; i<myarray.length;i++){
      if(myarray[i][0] == id) return myarray[i][1];
    return false;

    The script is on the entry of the first slide to set the variables as the slide show begins.  I did publish to both swf and html5.  I'm using the index.html page for the html5 and the other htm page that contains the flash object. I have a php script that detects mobile devices to determine which content is displayed using iframes.  I'm not sure what the multiscreen.html page is... ok I just read about the multiscreen and it looks like that page doesn't detect all devices correctly so I'm better off with the php script that I'm using.  I'm adding the variable string to each url on the index page and also the htm page for embedded flash content.

  • Exporting Captivate 3 to Flash CS3 (Vista Ultimate 32)

    I saw the other topics describing issues involving exporting
    Captivate to Flash, but I can't get the export to work at all. The
    first couple times I tried I got the "unknown error," and now the
    .cp files don't even show up in the list of importable files.
    I've applied all the latest Adobe updates. I really need to
    be able to work on these Captivate 3 files in Flash. Any help would
    be appreciated.

    Thanks for your help, Rick.
    Yes, I've reviewed it and followed its instructions. I've
    found that I need Flash to be closed before I start an export from
    Captivate or nothing happens. (I can't import from Flash at all.)
    Even when the export works, I'm only getting the first slide.
    So it looks like I have some poking around to do. I was hoping this
    was going to be a "press a button and go" operation (yeah, right).

  • Yet another Captivate-to-Flash problem

    I'm trying to get some Captivate files into Flash MX 2004.
    When I try exporting from Captivate, I get a message that I
    need to Flash MX2004 installed. I do, but it doesn't seem to
    recognise it.
    If I try to import into a Flash movie I get a message that it
    doesn't recognise the file format.
    This is, as you can imagine, not only frustrating but
    disappointing. There are way too many problems with this software -
    let's hope Version 2 is a big improvement..

    Hello tone47b,
    I am sorry to hear that you have been experiencing problems
    getting Captivate files into Flash. Have you read the
    Converting
    Captivate to Flash Content - Technote? This might offer you
    some assistance.
    With regard to importing SWF's into Captivate - You will need
    to set the frame rate at
    30 fps and publish your SWFs as Flash Player version 6.

  • Export Captivate 3 to Flash CS4

    Hello All,
    I am using Captivate 3 and when I try to export project to Falsh, only Flash 8 and Flash CS3 are listed but they are grayed out because I am using Flash CS4. My question is how do I export project to Flash CS4 if it is not an option?  Is there another way to create a FLV file?

  • Problems with Captivate Redirects, possibly Flash Security and XML

    Hello fellow Captivarians,
    First a little backstory, earlier in the year we developed a course that heavily used external image files, which were gathered and organised through an XML file, then placed into Captivate 4 through a widget. This was all developed in Actionscript 3 and was designed to be accessed locally, on the user's computer from a CD Drive.
    We had a whole deal of issues with Captivate and Flash security issues, finding that we could not get the importing to work correctly in Internet Explorer as it outright refused to import the XML file (Presumably because of security issues). However, Firefox would work fine. Eventually we got it working via a bandaid solution by prepackaging the course with a firefox portable install.
    Now many months later, we have discovered our previous solution still works, but it now outright denies any redirects from HTML page to HTML page, regardless if the content is on the CD or if it's on the harddrive. Buttons that link to external sources will not work, (even if it's just a local page in the same directory).Flash player simply refuses to redirect between HTML pages. We tried some older projects that were developed in AS2 - and this wasn't an issue.
    The odd thing is however, on my computer it still works fine. However, on everyone elses in our office, it will not redirect at all. We are all running the same version of Flash Player, and the same version of Firefox...
    Any ideas? Could it have been a recent update with the Flash Player that prevents this sort of interaction?
    Cheers.

    Hi there
    Have you tried configuring the Flash Security Settings? That's my guess.
    Click here for a tutorial on how to configure
    If this will be on CD-ROM or DVD, you may need to consider adding a light version of a Web Server to the media and launching via that.

  • Audio problems preloaded Captivate swfs in custom player

    I have a slideshow-like custom Flash player that uses
    standard preloader code - it loads external swf movieclips into a
    holder clip, and stores references to them in an array. Once all
    external swfs are loaded, the first clip starts playing and
    navigation buttons allow the user to go through the "slides" at
    will.
    The problem: some Captivate-generated swf files have audio
    that starts playing as the clips are preloading, and the audio does
    not stop except with a stopAllSounds call. As needed, each loaded
    swf is copied (so to speak) from the array to a clip on the stage,
    loadedClip_mc, to be played and controlled. The player's pause
    button, which works as follows:
    loadedClip_mc.stop()
    has no effect on the sound of the loaded Captivate clips.
    Furthermore, the audio doubles-up when trying to play any
    slide, and clicking play (loadedClip_mc.play() )
    HERE IS THE MOST CONFUSING PART: this ONLY happens when the
    player and the movies to be loaded are uncached - after the files
    are visited for the first time, everything works great. Anytime you
    revisit the player it is fine. However, if it is the first time
    someone is visiting the custom player, or the browser cache is
    cleared, once you visit the page the audio for all Captivates start
    playing during preloading simultaneously and cannot be controlled.
    Thank you in advance for your help!

    Hi. I've experienced the same problem with audio and preload.
    Sorry for my english, but - I dont know if I've understood the
    matter- I think you are talking about to fix this problem using
    actionscript code. Please, would you answer me one question? If I
    can't change the code of the base clip generated by Captivate, is
    it possible to add some code in my loaded clips to stop that audio
    embedded in them when they are preloading? What would this code
    be?.
    I hope you understand me!
    Thank you.

  • CS4 Problems exporting swf

    I am having a problem trying to export a swf file from my fla file in adobe flash CS4. Every time I try to export my fla file to a swf the progress bar reaches about 7/8 of the way to finishing, but then the progress bar goes away. The swf file is no where to be found, where I tell it to be exported to. I don't seem to have problem exporting scenes from the fla file though, just when I export the whole thing. Maybe the file is to big? The file size is  486, 508 KB.  If anyone has any idea how to fix this it would be greatly appreciated.

    Acrobat's Bookmark creation facility is associated with PDF page content.
    The content of the inserted SWF file is not part of the PDF page content.
    There may be something possible using Action Script and Acrobat JavaScript.
    But, I'd guess that's a question for those respective scripting forums.

  • Share in FC Pro Studio suddenly won't work - export button just flashes

    Hi,
    Can anyone help?
    I have an urgent project which I need to burn to DVD. I have used the share feature in FC Pro Studio loads of times and it does the job but now the export button just flashes and nothing happens when I click on it.
    Someone helped me a while back by suggesting that there might be a share confict with Compressor or Q Master and that I should delete some library files. Whatever it was worked but that was over a year ago and I cant remember what they recommended but it worked brilliantly.
    Many poeple have told me to use Compressor but I've done that and the DVD wouldn't play on all PCs.
    I'd like to use Share.
    Please can someone suggest a solution. There definitley is one.
    Thanks,
    Mike

    The best workflow is to export a selfcontained quicktime with current settings from fcp, use compressor with the appropriate dvd preset and bring the resulting files (m2v and ac3) in dvdsp and author the dvd there.  Do some searching here and I seem to remember someone has a very simple description of this workflow.  If you had compatibility problems with a dvd on a pc, it would probably be caused by the particular dvd blanks you used.

  • Variables from Adobe Captivate to flash

    Hi,
    can anybody explain me, how to acces variables in captivate
    from flash?
    I can't export my CP file to Flash CS3, there is an alert
    message
    The following elements in your project have not been
    converted. They are not supported by this importer.
    Question slide
    508 compliance
    A swf animation slide has been imported. The following files
    must be made available at publish time:
    DefaultPreloader.swf
    Please make sure you publish the project to "D:\MyQuizzes\".
    Saving the project to this directory will ensure that test
    project will work with the swf animation slide.
    Thanks for answer...

    Hi tikiri,
    You can access variables directly using the movie instance.
    Please check the code below, where we are printing the varCount
    variable.
    on(release){
    _root.play();
    _root.createEmptyMovieClip("movie", 999);
    _root.movie._x=146;
    _root.movie._y=12;
    loadMovie("test/test.swf", _root.movie);
    trace (_root.movie.varCount);
    This code is specific for AS2 captivate swfs. You can try
    accessing any of captivate system variables also in this way:
    _root.movie.rdcmndNextSlide = 1; // jumps to next slide
    _root.movie.cpCmndMute = 1; // mute the audio
    trace(_root.movie.cpInfoCurrentDate); // print the current
    date
    _root.movie.rdInfoCurrentSlide =
    _root.movie.cpInfoLastVisitedSlide // jumps to last visited slide
    Please go through the list of available variables in
    captivate documentation. All the variables starting from "rdcmnd"
    are legacy variables and exist in captivate 3 projects as well.
    Ones starting with "cp" are new and are not available prior to
    captivate 4. Accessing method remains the same for both cp3 and cp4
    generated swfs.
    For accessing variables in AS3 captivate movies:-
    var movieLdr:Loader = new Loader();
    var movieURL:String = "CA3_Demo.swf"
    var movieURLReq:URLRequest = new URLRequest(movieURL);
    var cpMovie;
    movieLdr.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE,loadComplete);
    function loadComplete(ae:Event)
    cpMovie = movieLdr.content;
    //Pause the movie
    cpMovie.rdcmndPause = 1;
    //Resume the movie
    cpMovie.rdcmndResume = 1;
    //Jump to next slide
    cpMovie.rdcmndNextSlide = 1;
    also try,
    // print current date
    trace(cpMovie.movie.cpInfoCurrentDate);
    addChild(movieLdr);
    movieLdr.load(movieURLReq);

  • Captivate to Flash CS3?  Just a dream?

    Based on the results in this forum, I take it there is now
    way to import Captivate 3 files into Flash CS3 even though it is a

  • Problems exporting files

    I'm new to using Flash (I'm using Flash Professional CS5) and am having problems exporting my files.
    While the files will export as .mov files, when I try to play the files they're simply a blank white or black screen.
    Any help or ideas on what I'm doing wrong?

    The most likely reason is that you are attempting to export a muxed mpeg file. QT will not export sound from such files. QT Mpeg Limitations

  • Sync and frame rate problems importing video to Flash CS3

    Just like the subject states, I am indeed having frame rate problems importing video to Flash CS3.
    When I export a video from Premiere with the settings:
    1280x720
    frame rate of 23.976
    using H264 or Animation (basically every codec produces the same results),
    "embed video on SWF and play in timeline"
    When I do this the file exports fine. Playing it in Quicktime works fine and the audio syncs up no problem. But when I import it into Flash using the same settings, for some reason the movie clip is now too fast in that the video does not match the audio and seems to be at more like 12 fps now (just a guestimate). The action of the video is over long before the audio even comes in.I have verified that the frame rate is correct in Flash so it's not that.
    I've done this literally hundreds of times in the past and suddenly it does not work and I can not figure out why. I'm not even really using video, but actually artwork that I am putting together as an animatic for an animated piece so the video could not have been imported incorrectly or digitized wrong either. Can someone out there please tell me how to make this work? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!
    -Mike

    Thanks for you quick response however it really doesn't apply to what I am doing in any way. I will not be uploading the video to a server. I am using the imbed function so I can use it as a layer and then animate over it. It is just reference and will ultimately be deleted. The Fla file does indeed carry the same specs as I stated in my first post. I have done it this way dozens of times and I am trying to figure out why it suddenly will not work.
