Problems exporting GB2 songs to iTunes/equalizing volume

I’m posting this in both GB and iTunes becuase I don’t know where the problems lies.
1) I’ve exported five tunes I created in GB2.
a) Average length of song is about 3 minutes;
b) Volume settings were pretty much the same. I deliberately set them as close as I could. Especially the Master volume;
c) Average composition of songs is: 3-4 green (MIDI) tracks and 2 or 3 blue (Digital or “real” instrument tracks;
d) All volume settings in iTunes were the same.
When I exported them to iTunes, they were all “Bounced.” To the best I could observe...difficult because the little window just flashed a message under the “Bounced” message, reasons were “Unknown Album Artwork,” something about “Volume,” and another reason I coundn’t decifer.
However,
It appeared iTunes really did accept these songs. They were listed as “Bounced,” “Bounced 2,” “Bounced 3,” etc.
When I played them back, they sounded alright. So, I typed in the acutal name of the songs (By deleting “Bounced” and typing) and put them into the playlist I wanted.
When finished, burned a CD. However, the audio volume of the songs did not equalize. I did, indeed, ensure that the “check volume” button was checked in iTunes. But when I played back from the CD, volume levels were clearly not equalized. (I know iTunes will not perfectly “equalize,” but these are obviously out of whack.
Bottom line: It is going to be very difficult to burn a CD with volume levels for every song jumping all over the place.
What’s wrong and how do I remedy this?
Addendum: I have an iPOD mini. When I play songs from any given playlist, volume is also a problem. One song is at a given level, the next much louder, another much softer.

  • Problems with some songs in iTunes (and my iPod)

    Hi,
I do not know whether this is the right category for my problem, but I did not find a suitable one.
I have problems with some songs in iTunes. They do not sound right. It is hard to me to describe my problem in English (thanks to apple's "great" support...I was not able to contact them personally except by phone). The songs "hang", they sound like someone reels (?) it. The problem does not only appear with iTunes but also with my iPod nano first generation.
My godmother brang me CDs where that problems appear (but not the whole CDs have that problem, only a few songs) from the USA - I live in Germany. Maybe that is cause of the error. But I cannot imagine that, because CDs there and here have the same format and I have several CDs from the US where is no problem at all. I am absolutely sure that the CDs are originals and not a copy, by the way.
Maybe you can help me, it would be great!
    Thanks,
    Jule

Yes, I thought that's what Restore should do, but the problems remain.  Hmmm, the out of order 'album's' songlist is notated 1 of 8, 2 of 8, 3 of 8...  I'll try 01, 02...
    Probably a good idea.
The other album is running through the list of songs like fast-forward, but not playing the songs.  Then, iPod locks up.
Do these same tracks play okay in iTunes?  What is the original source for these tracks?  Were they downloads from the iTunes Store or imported from outside of iTunes?  What format are they encoded in and at what bitrate?

  • Problems with sending songs to iTunes

    Hi everyone.
I have GB '11 and iTunes 10.7 running on a Mac Book Pro using Mountain Lion 10.8.2. I have a large music collection which I keep on an external hard drive.
I created a song in GB and tried to send it to iTunes using the "send song to iTunes" command in the "Share" dropdown menu.
GB seemed to go through the motions of creating the mixdown etc.. however it failed to open iTunes or play the file.  When I tried to find the song in my iTunes library it was not there. I ended up having to burn the song to a CD, open iTunes then import the song on the CD into iTunes. There must be an easier way - what am I doing wrong??
    Many thanks!

    Hi LeonieDF
    Thanks for your quick reply!
Are there any error messages or other diagnostics when you are trying to share the song the iTunes?
No, not at all.  It just goes through the motions - then nothing.
Is your iTunes library on a remote volume and can there be network problems?
My iTunes library is on an external hard drive connected directly to the MBP via USB2, so there shouldn't be an issue there.
Does te title of the song or artist name contain characters that are not allowed in filenames?
Nope - the song name is "Reunion"
What happens if you try to share the song to a folder on your disk and import it to iTunes?
This works!!  If I share the song to my desktop then import it to iTunes from there it appears in my iTunes library on the external HD and successfully plays.
    Thanks for your suggestions!!

  • Problems with purchased songs and iTunes 7.0.1

For some odd reason, I can't transfer purchased songs onto my ipod. They appear to be transferred, but I can't play them nor can I open them within iTunes. Is this an authorization issue? Has anyone had a similar problem?
    TIA

They appear to be transferred, but I can't play them nor can I open them within iTunes.
could you walk us through what happens when you try to play the songs in itunes, Chris?

  • Problems with playing songs in iTunes

as the subject says. I have som problems with playing songs. not everyone just a some..
If we take for example that a song is 8min. then at 1.40 it just stops and goes to the next one. I can jump over it with pressing in the middle for example. it plays. as normal. UNTIL. 3 mins. then the same problems appear. I don't really understand how. just between 1.40-1.50 iTunes thinks that the song is finished. I know my english isn't so good but cuz there is no swedish support. I have to write here. any answers would be good

    I'm having a similar problem.
Every now and then, a track from a ripped CD or from iTunes or from eMusic will "look" OK in iTunes (or on my iPod), but when the track plays, it gets partially through and it jumps to the next track in the playlist.
For example, if playback of track 1 pauses and jumps to track 2 at 1:30 into playback of track 1, & I click on 1:31 or later in track 1, the rest of track 1 will play fine. But if the playback of track 1 starts at the before the "skip point," the track will stop & iTunes (or iPod) goes on to the next track in the playlist. If I locate the file (on my external drive) and play it in the finder, there's always buzzing sound at the point where the iTunes jumps to the next track.
For ripped CD's this is not a huge deal, I just re-rip & usually all is well. With eMusic, I can download again, but with iTunes, I have to file a complaint & so far they've just credited my account, which is OK, but time consuming.
At first I thought the problem was with my optical drive, but then the problem started happening with downloads from iTunes and eMusic as well. NONE of these shenanigans happened before I upgraded to iTunes 7.6, so I'm wondering if that's where the problem is. One thing's for sure: I'm not going to "jump" at the next upgrade of iTunes!
I'm totally stumped & bummed. iTunes used to be a really good friend, now I find myself wondering if I should bother with putting my entire CD collection on iTunes if it's no longer as reliable as it used to be.

  • How do I export one song from iTunes to a .mp3 file?

Sorry for the newbie question. I want to create a single .mp3 file from one of the songs in my iTunes library. How do I do that?
    Thanks much.

You can use iTunes to convert any copy protection free songs in your library another format. When you convert a song in iTunes it will be converted to the format that you have set to import your CDs in. Converting creates a second copy of the song in the format you have chosen which gives you the opportunity to either keep or delete the original. If you are using iTunes 8 go to iTunes>Preferences>General and click on Import Settings,, Change your Import format to MP3 Encoder for example. Go back to your library and highlight the songs you want to convert and go to the Advanced menu at the top of your iTunes window and choose "Create MP3 version": iTunes: How to convert a song to a different file format
Click on the MP3 version you've created in iTunes to highlight it and drag it to your desktop to create a copy if you want to use it in another program or put it in another folder.

  • Problem with downloading songs from iTunes

I downloaded around 10 songs from itunes onto my ipod using itunes on my ipod. All of a sudden, the songs dissapeared. Itunes says they are on there but they aren't. Any suggestions?

When you buy the song you do not get it as a ringtone.
The symbol means it can be also purchased as a ringtone once you own the track.
You must purchase the track then use the create a ringtone option in iTunes which will let you select 40 seconds of music from the track and then you have to pay to purchase those 40 seconds as a ringtone.

  • Garageband 10.0.2 won't export one song to iTunes but has no problem exporting others

I'm still getting used to the new Garageband and I'm liking it a lot so far. I had just finished editing a song before I updated and am now trying to export that into iTunes with the new Garageband. I get to the part where it says "Bouncing...," but it hardly gets a minute into this before that little window disappears and nothing exported. I've already sent a few previous Garageband files and some new ones to iTunes, but this one seems to be giving me trouble. Any idea what's going on?

I too can not export my presentation to Powerpoint. The presentation was originally in powerpoint and I imported into Keynote. Now I wanted to export it to let some others work on it. I receive this error below when I try the export.
"An error occurred while exporting your document to powerpoint."
I have tried some of the suggestions from other posts regarding exporting to qt like uncheck close after last slide and trashing the com.apple.iwork.keynote.plist file. Neight of these worked in my case with Powerpoint.

  • Exporting some songs to iTunes freezes the whole computer

I'm having a new problem with GB. I have about a dozen songs I've been working with recently, recording, editing, and exporting to iTunes. For some reason, while 10 of the songs export without any problem, two of the songs cause GB to freeze. What's more, not only GB but also the Finder freezes, as do any other applications that I try afterward. I can't even Force Quit -- nothing happens. The only thing I can do is to press and hold the on/off button for 3 seconds and start all over again.
The songs play without any problem within GB, and all are simple piano tunes with a single track. I'm running this all on an iBook G4 running system X.4, which isn't supposed to freeze like this at all. Any ideas what the problem could be, or how I could go about fixing it?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Chris

    Christoph,
Thank you for your suggestion. I gave it a try. Unfortunately, the problem still remains exactly as before -- exporting to iTunes gets started, and about two-thirds of the way through the "creating mixdown" phase everything freezes. Any other suggestion? I'm not a particularly sophisticated Mac user, so even something obvious I would likely not have tried.

  • When it export a song to itunes, it sounds like its being played under water

songs seem to export okay. it creates a mix. but when i play back the itunes track, it sounds like it is under water.
i've done it properly before, somehow...
    thanks.

Maybe you should define "fuzzy". If it's the same as "distorted", you should check if either the single track meters or the general volume meter in GB show clipping. Generally GB is more tolerant and you only hear it on the mixdown.

  • Problem with duplicated songs in iTunes library.

    Hi folks,
Following a recent sync between my MacBook Pro (OS X 10.6.8) and iPod touch (3rd Gen, iOS 6.1.6), my iTunes library (v 11.4) now contains duplicate tracks of every song on certain albums. Seems to affect random artists and albums and is only in my MacBook library - not on the iPod.
Does anyone have any ideas as to why this happens and, more importantly, how to 'undo it'? I've tried another sync and MacBook re-starts, but no result.
    Very grateful for any suggestions.
    Thanks,
    AJ707

I am having a similar problem. these mystery duplicates are turning into a real furball. In passing, I would like to say also that this so-called "feature" called "up next" is so unbelievably intrusive and annoying. It makes debugging this problem, which is already terrible bad enough to make me wish for an itunes substitute. I never thought it would get this awful. I have about 70 mystery tracks in my library which I am trying to get rid of. I have to go through them one by one and unless I manually clear out the up next list which takes about 3 clicks, every time I click on one of these mystery tacks the same **** song plays. Very awful. It took me along time to figure that out. I thought there was some data corruption somehow. Turned out it was just a sadist at Apple improving the program.
Here's an example. When I arrange my library in song view, I scroll all the way down to the bottom where these mystery files are. There is a bunch of them that have the album name "JS Bach Transcriptions". But there is no album or playlist in my library with that name! When I click on one of them, it will play some organ music that is vaguely familiar, but not immediately placeable by me. It sounds familiar, but what album or playlist it goes with I have no idea. All of the boxes in the rightmost column are all checked. I know from a painful experiment that if I just hit delete on these mystery tracks, something somewhere in the playlists will also be disappeared and I have no idea what it will be. I found this out from working with a small playlist of five tracks. Each of these for some reason had a duplicate which shows up with the other mystery tracks at the bottom of the song list. They are at least identifiable. If I hit delete in the song list and then go back to the playlist view, the entire playlist of five songs has been wiped out. I don't know what I'm doing wrong but it is so irritating. In the prefs window advanced tab, I have the "keep itunes media folder organized" unchecked. I don't know what checking that box would do. Maybe it''s important. If anybody knows about this, I'd like to know. I'd also really really like to know how to turn off the u next for good. Man I hate that thing.

  • Why do I lose my midi tracks when exporting a song to iTunes from GarageBand?

I have been using GarageBand for many years and have never had any real problems--it has always delivered. Recently, though, I finished a track that I wanted to share online, so I tried to get it into MP3 format via iTunes. After listening to it in iTunes, I noticed that none of the midi tracks were there. I tried exporting it again at a higher quality, then in a different format (AAC), and every time, I ended up with a track lacking all midi parts. Does anyone know why that would be or, more importantly, how to fix this problem? Many thanks!

I received the following response from email support:
The reason you saw an amount higher than what was actually in your account may be due to your account information not being updated. This can happen, for example, when you use multiple computers to make iTunes Store purchases. You can refresh your account information at any time, which will in turn update the store credit amount iTunes displays next to your account name. To do this, sign out of the iTunes Store and then sign in again.
It seems that the balance itunes is originally reporting should not be there and it is refreshed (and removed) once the new balance is added.
It's kind of unfortunate that the itunes store can't properly track an account balance (especially since I only use 1 computer for my account), but that's your answer. Hopefully Apple will get around to correcting this in the future, as it's pretty frustrating.

  • TS1424 Problem downloading a song from iTunes on Mac OS 10.7.4...

I have a message:  "There was a problem downloading (song title).  The file seems to be corrupted.  To redownload the file, choose 'Check for Available Downloads' from the Store menu."  I did this four times with the same result.  Any ideas?

I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the item that is not downloading properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the entry, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" link next to the item.
(Not entirely sure what happens after you click that link, but fingers crossed it should be relatively straightforward.)

  • Problems with importing songs in iTunes

    Hi there
I have deleted my entire iTunes-library. Now, I want to import the songs again. I chose File -> Add folder to library... -> iTunes music (I have all my music in this folder).
The problem is that not everything gets imported, about 30% is missing in the library. I think those songs are missing which are in a second underfolder in the iTunes music. E.g. ...\iTunes music\Band A\Album B\Song C with e.g. ...\iTunes music\Album A\Song B it works.
And even if I want to import those folders manually, it doesn't work (even if it loads).
Does anybody know, what the reason for this is?
    Thank you in advance!
    Kind regards
