Problems Exporting RAW images to JPEG in Lightroom 1.1

I have used LR 1.1 with much success in editing, then exporting/burning JPEG images.  But now, I am shooting in camera RAW (Nikon D40x), and when I attempt to export the edited images to JPEG files, I get the message that an error has occurred during export, and the files do not burn to jpeg.  What can I do to correct this?

It will convert all images to jpegs, resize ... however you set it up ... and yes, it is so straightforward as it seems to be .
It makes no sense to upload RAW files to the web for public use in the first place. Second, LR does not touch/change the RAW files. Therefore, how would it be able to integrate your dev settings when using RAW on export?
You can add the ftp target in LR and it will upload directly to your web server.
If you choose Flash-based, people need to have the Adobe Flash player installed on their computer. The Flash player itself is not part of the LR setup. Most of people already have it installed and who doesnt will be asked to install it.

  • Converting raw images to jpegs using PSE 11

I have started to capture only RAW images from my Sony NEX 7 camera. However, I wish to be able to send JPEG images to my friends ( prior to RAW editing ). How do I convert/copy my RAW images to JPEGs using PSE 11?
    Thanks
    Derek

After you're done in camera raw (or in your case, without doing anything, but you'll just get the default conversion, because you MUST convert the files), click the Open button, then save in the format of your choice in the editor. JPEG is an 8 bit format so you will want to either set the raw converter's pulldown menu to 8 bits or you will need to go to Image>Mode> 8 bits/channel in the editor. If you're emailing, you can also use Save for Web to size them down if necesary.
If you use the organizer, you can just use file>export as new files and be sure to send the jpgs someplace easy to find.

    From the Editor choose:
    File >> Open

When the image appears in the converter use the sliders to make your raw adjustments, then click open image.
    From the Editor use:
File >> Save As >> jpeg

You can convert a RAW image to jpeg with the Canon software DPP. I believe there is a tutorial on Canon's site regarding the software.

  • Problems viewing RAW photos properly in Photoshop/Lightroom/ACR

Hey folks. New here and looking to find some assistance with a  problem I'm having in Photoshop CS4, Lightroom 2 and Adobe Camera Raw  5.7 when attemtping to view RAW photos straight from my Canon 450D. My  computer is a Mac PowerPC G5 running OS X 10.5.8 with a single 1.8Ghz  CPU and 3.5Gb of RAM. Photoshop CS4 is version 11.0.2. Lightroom is  version 2.7. Adobe Camera Raw is version 5.7.
What I am  having problems with is viewing RAW photos from my camera in all of  these applications. No problems are encountered with any other file type  such as PNG or jpg.
I have attached a screen capture of  what I am seeing when I open a .CR2 RAW image in Camera RAW before  opening in Photoshop. As you can see, the software seems to be having a  difficult time rendering the photo properly. I can view these files on  other computers using the Canon software that came with my camera. I get  this same problem if I view the image in Lightroom.
As  far as I know, I can't upgrade to PS CS5 or LR 3 because I am still  running on the PPC architecture, so I need to find how to fix this  without having to buy a Mac Pro and the newest software.
Any ideas on how to troubleshoot? If the screenshot is too small, I can provide the full-res version.

I'm well-versed in forum ettiquette, thank you. I do, however, see no problem why posting about this problem once in each forum covering the software involved in my problem would be an issue. If I posted about the problem in only one forum, let's say in the Lightroom forum, and the problem was experience by another person who did not use Lightroom and would not be browsing the Lightroom forum for help, how would they have come across this post? Unless they also looked in the Photoshop forum, they might not have seen this post. So where's the harm in having it viewed by a greater number of individuals?
With that aside, my problem is now resolved. After looking around a bit more on the forums here last night, I came across a thread started by a fellow who was experiencing the same issue as I, except he had newer versions of the software. Someone had replied to his post suggesting that it could have been faulty RAM modules and that they once experienced similar issues which were resovled by replacing the RAM. This was good news to me, since I had just purchased additional RAM for my Mac last week. It arrived today and I installed it and booted the Mac up. I purged any cache files used by these three software titles and then reattempted opening a RAW image in Photoshop. I took my latest RAW images from my camera, exported them to a USB thumb drive, and then from there exported them to my Mac. I tried to open on of the images in Photoshop and it opened successfully with ACR along with a complete and pristine preview of the image. Open the other RAW images in Lightroom, no problems.

  • Does Web Module size and convert RAW images to jpeg?

I have never used the Web module before. It looks pretty straightforward but I have one question:
What about images? Does Lightroom take the original RAW images from the library that I've chosen to go into the web site and 'pare the down' or re-size them to be appropriate size for the web site and I assume it would also convert them to jpegs in sizes needed for preview and for thumbnails?
I assume that when you start the 'machinery' for Lightroom to build the web site that it will put all of the images needed as copies from the originals into a proper folder that can be then uploaded to the web?
    Thanks,
    Ken
PS: if I choose a flash template, which are pretty nice, does it also include the flash module so that people can run the flash presentation on their computers?

It will convert all images to jpegs, resize ... however you set it up ... and yes, it is so straightforward as it seems to be .

  • How do I Export Raw images from Iphoto to Adobe Photo Elements 4

I recently purchased Photo elements 4 because I could import images from Iphoto in Raw format and work with them. Everything I have read and the instructional video sent to me by Adobe make it look and sound very easy but so far I have had no success.
I have been able to open Bridge and view photos from Iphoto so it seems to me that everything that I have in Iphoto is automatically transfered to Elements 4. However I can not find my Raw images. What am I doing wrong or failing to do and is there some logical sequence that I have to follow to import Raw images.
I am using a Nikon D200 and just to be safe I have been shooting so the images are saved both in JPEG and RAW.
Thanks for any help you can provide

    dakota8,
iPhoto and Adobe Bridge are incompatible, so you need to decide which one you want to use (for which photos). iPhoto is a database, with many flexible features for organizing your library and finding your photos. Bridge is a file browser with some organizing capabilities. You absolutely should not use Bridge or any other application (Finder included) to browse the files inside your iPhoto Library folder, as it will damage the iPhoto database. To verify, click on iPhoto's Help and read the section "About using the iPhoto Library."
If you want to keep your RAW files in iPhoto, then you'll need to open them from iPhoto. As Dave E said, this can be done by setting the iPhoto pref to export RAW files. You also need to set PE 4 as the external editor in iPhoto's preferences. With this setup, you can select photos using iPhoto, open the RAW files into PE 4, then edit. Now comes the wrinkle in the workflow. Normally, you would do a Save to cause your edited file to be saved back into the iPhoto library. This Save, not Save As, requires that the filename and extension stay the same. Works great with jpeg files. However, once you edit the RAW, the extension (and file format) must change. Save will not work, because any save at this point is treated like a Save As. So you have to Save As to a folder OUTside of your iPhoto Library, and then import it in as a new file. There will be no link between the edited version and its unedited RAW file. You could organize inside iPhoto to display the edited file beside its original RAW, or keep separate rolls for the originals and edits.
With that in mind, you might not want to save the RAW files in iPhoto at all. You could create your own filing system for them, which you would browse using Bridge. Upload using Image Capture to save your files to a folder of your choice. Once you edit the RAW files and save as another format, you could them import into iPhoto for cataloging or further editing. You'll just have to find the system that works best for you.
BTW, don't save your edited RAW files as Adobe RAW. I tried and discovered that iPhoto refuses to import them at all.
I have been able to open Bridge and view photos from Iphoto so it seems to me that everything that I have in Iphoto is automatically transfered to Elements 4.
There's no transferring involved at all. Bridge is rooting directly inside the iPhoto Library folder. Did I mention that it's best to avoid this?
However I can not find my Raw images.
When you import a file it is saved into the Originals folder. Your RAW files are there, along with any video clips you may have imported.
iPhoto automatically creates a jpeg version of your RAW files and stores it in the Modified folder. It has to do this in order to display the picture on your screen. With video clips, a jpeg of the first frame is created for display purposes.
I am using a Nikon D200 and just to be safe I have been shooting so the images are saved both in JPEG and RAW.
If you import both versions into iPhoto, then you have
    Originals - RAW
    Modified - jpeg
    Originals - jpeg
(Modified - jpeg - if you edit the jpeg version or if they are auto-rotated to portrait orientation)
I don't shoot in RAW, so I can't really comment about which workflow would be the most efficient. I just played with it long enough to realize that there is no easy way to do it.
    Regards.

  • PSE6 - Saving RAW images as JPEG

I am new to PSE6. I have a Pentax K10D dslr, which can create raw images in either the Pentax proprietary PEF format or Adobe's DNG format.
I have downloaded the latest version (4.4.1) of Adobe Camera Raw. PSE6 opens and processes either type of raw file with no problem.
My problem comes when I try to save the file. I click on "File" - "Save As". There is a line to specify the file name, and a pull-down menu with several file types. Standard JPEG is not included in the list. JPEG 2000 is in the list, but when I save the file in that format, the resulting file is more than 3 times the size of the original raw file. None of my other software knows what to do with a JPEG 2000 file, either.
Have I done something wrong? Am I missing something? Must I save the file in its original format (PEF or DNG) and then use some other program to convert it to JPEG, so that I can send it somewhere to be printed?
    Paul Noble

You have to convert the file to 8bits/Channel. You can either do that in
ACR or in the Editor (>Image >Mode).

  • Exporting RAW files to PS5 from Lightroom

when exporting RAW files from lightroom 3, version 3.6, to photoshop 5, (version 12.04, ACR 6.6), raw files go directly to editor, not camera raw editor. This began only after I went from trial version to full version, before it went to RAW editor.  If loading directly into PS RAW files do go to RAW editor as they should, but not from LIghtroom.
    Please advise

The way it is working now is the way it is supposed to.  I don't know why ACR was opening before.  You do your adjustments in Lightroom, and when you send the image to Photoshop ACR is used to interpret the Lightroom adjustments.  If you want to be able to go back to ACR then you need to open the image as a smart object.

  • Problems Importing RAW Images - Photo distorted

I am having problems importing RAW files to Aperture. I have a Canon 450D and I import Both RAW & JPEG. On the import tab it shows all photos correctly, naming the RAW .CR2. However, once imported and processed the RAW images appear as either black only or in the thumbnails, lines of colour.. I have tried just importing RAW only but same result. I have updated the latest software from Apple so am at a loss. Any assistance would help. Cheers

    Mel,
I haven't use the DPP Canon software in a long, long time. (And I never used it on a Mac).
These next few statement and questions are concerning troubleshooting. (I.e., I have no preconception of the answer and I'm not trying to be daft. )
Can you view a photo from the DPP software, if that photo was not imported by the DPP software?  If so what do your Aperture RAW files look like in DPP?
When you import files by DPP, are they the same format that you are expecting to get by directly importing into Aperture from the camera?  If not... Hmm.  Not sure what to make of that...
Concerning the SD card, yes it's possible that some are corrupt.  Best practice is to extract your photos from the card, and then (when you have backed up the photos), use the camera to format the card.  If you are satisfied with your backup situation, I would try formatting a card, taking some RAW photos, and then importing into Aperture to see what happens.

  • Why are my RAW images imported in to Lightroom 5 being de-saturated?

Lately, in LR 5.3 and 5.5, every time I import RAW images they show up de-saturated.  In the thumbnail they look right, but in both the library and develop mode main screens they show up very flat and de-saturated.
This is the first time I have had this problem.....never had it in V2-4.
I am shooting with a Canon 5D MIII.
I thought that there may be a preset during import that is doing this, but I do not think that is the case.
I need some help, any ideas what is causing this?  I cant process all my weddings with this issue.....it would take forever to fix.
    JP

Images can be different between the camera-rendered preview you see before Import and the default Adobe rendering, but after import the thumbnail in the LR grid view shouldn’t be a different tone than the image in the main area.  Is that what you’re saying you’re seeing?
Can you show us a screenshot with both the thumbnail filmstrip and the central area visible as well as the histogram?

iPhoto, Preview, Aperture and many others will convert RAW images.
Also, is raw  the reason I cannot burn images to a disc?
No, the format of the file shouldn't  be interfering with burning them to a CD. How are you creating the CD?
