Problems Filtering by Metadata

Are there known problems filtering by Metadata is PSE 7?
I have a few thousand photo's in my collection, and want to be able to filter by the camera they were shot on.
Some of my pictures are from a Panasonic Lumix compact (I'm able to see that data in the exif properties on the shots I know are from that camera : Make = Panasonic, Model = DMC-LX2).
However, when I set "Find - By Details" to Camera Make contains "Panasonic", I only get some of the correct pictures. The ones it is showing (around 53) are correct (so no false positives), but I know there are many it's missing. I have located several which have metadata which should be a match and they're definitely not coming back in the search.

I imported that pic into a test catalog, and Find > By Details > Camera Make = Panasonic found it.
I suspect that what's stored internally in the PSE catalog is different than what the Properties pane is showing under Camera Data (Exif). To troubleshoot this:
1. Make a new test catalog with File > Catalog > New and import a problem pic into it. Does the problem still occur?
2. In the main catalog, select the problem pic and do Edit > Update Thumbnail, which causes PSE to reread metadata from the pic back into the catalog (except for keyword tags). Does the problem still occur with that pic?

You can login to the Metadata database and execute:
select * from dba_registry;
This will give you the version numbers for database components.

Adobe Muse - Big problems with SEO/Metadata?

Hello,
I recently completed mysite using adobe muse but I'm having major problems with the metadata tool, essentially it does not work.
I cannot find my site anywhere on google unless I type in the domain itself despite the fact that I have inserted a full description and several keywords. When it does appear the description isn't what it's supposed to be. Rather than take the actual description it just takes a paragrapgh from my site.
Does the metadata option on Adobe Muse actually work? Has anyone used it successfully. Seems to be a major flaw in the Adobe Muse product.

Thanks so much sir but a few more questions..(I am a Wordpress user) Where do I find or how do I *** " semantic properties to your pages by creating paragraph styles, applying them, and then choosing the tag type in the paragraph style options. You can add h1, h2, and so on, for example.
I am trying to learn this Muse..seems very positive but I cannot figure out how to do seo with muse as I have not figured out where to insert Meta info , header info or tags like i can with WordPress. Do you have any suggestions on this...also, have you had any luck with contact forms in Muse?..is it possible to export some of the new widget features of Dreamweaver CS6 into muse somehow.
Maybe I cab aleady do contact forms..Im I overlooking it?

Metadata filter for "Location" filters on metadata field "Sublocation"

It's confusing that the metadata filter for "Location" filters on metadata field "Sublocation". This is confusing until you figure it out. Adobe should assure that field names in the filter tool match the field name in the Metadata Panel they filter on. Should be an easy fix.

Problem in loading metadata resources in 10.1.2 for developer

when the process invokes the mail service:

Similar problem I had with JMSService
In ORABPEL PM v.2 it worked fine.
The 10.1.2 ver is coorectly patched.
So I don't understand what the matter is.

Problem with SharePoint metadata (People Picker) in Adobe Reader X.

Have a problem related metadata that is in SharePoint 2010 when I try to upload a PDF from Adobe Reader X (Online site). I have a few mandatory fields such as; Document Owner, Document Type, Date, etc..
When I save the PDF to a document library, so fetches Adobe metadata from the designated document library. I am forced to fill in my field, but when I get to document owner field the people picker don´t work. So I can not complete the transfer/upload of the
document.
Any ideas or solutions?!?!

What did you mean for “upload a PDF from Adobe Reader X (Online site)”? Whether you mean that the SharePoint 2010 site is an online site.
Per my knowledge, when you upload document into SharePoint, the metadata of the documents cannot upload to SharePoint. If you are using a third solution or party tool, I suggest you ask the third solution or party tool support for help.
In addition, I am not an Adobe Reader expert, I suggest you ask the Adobe Reader support for help.

Problem while creating metadata files

I created metadata files to add styles to Photoshop Elements 8 (in Windows 7) and included them in the C:\Program Data\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\8.0\Photo Creations\layer styles folder. The first several worked great and successfully showed up in the Styles Palette. Later, when I was trying to add more styles I received a message in PSE 'Could not load styles because the file could not be found'. I closed PSE. Now every time I open Editor I receive this message and it locks up the program. The only way I can close PSE is through Task Manager.
Any suggestions on how to correct this?

I put a copy of the third party styles in the Photoshop Elements Preset/styles folder and in the Photoshop Elements 8.0/Photo Creations/layer styles folder. From the Photo Creations/layer styles folder I selected an existing metadata file and copied it to my desktop. I changed the first part of the file name to the name of the new style (example: glitter 001.metadata). I then right clicked and opened with Notepad. When I found the name of the existing file I was using, I changed the name before the equation sign to the name of my new layer style with no spaces between words. Then I changed the name after the equation sign to the name of the new style with spaces between words (glitter001=glitter 001). I then deleted the lines below this except for the line /PSEContent leaving one space between the lines. I saved and closed the document. I then put the saved file in the Photo Creations/layer style folder. When I started PSE I held down the sift key when I selected Editor. As I said, the first two I did showed up fine. The next ones is where I had the problem.
I did all of this in the Admin account. When I go into my user account, PSE works but now I am afraid to try to add the layer styles.

Problems with extract metadata from Essbase with ODI 10.1.3.5.

Hello there, I have a really annoying problem. I have 2 dimensions in essbase v11 with a space on it, (Itens Financeiros and Centros Financeiros), and this is causing a problem when I try to extract the metadata from essbace to a table. the problem occurs some times in 3 - loading - ss_0 - begin essbase metadata extract and some times in 4 - loading ss_0 - extract metadata, but in this 2 steps the error is the same:
unknown member name [itens] in function [@idescendants]. I see in Johns blog someone sayng to add a '/"' in the front and at the end of the member filter criteria to allow ODI to parse the space as part of the member name. but I really don't understand this. Someone can helpme with this? Thanck you.

It doesn't matter, I am able to replicate with an older version of the essbase adaptor...
I take it this is the type of error you are receiving "com.hyperion.odi.essbase.ODIEssbaseException: Extract operation failed : Cannot query members by specs. Analytic Server Error(1200497): Error parsing formula for [REGION DEFINITION"
If you download patch - Patch 8785893: ORACLE DATA INTEGRATOR 10.1.3.5.2_02 ONE-OFF PATCH
It is easy to install just a matter of copying a jar file over an existing one in the \oracledi\drivers directory.
It should resolve the issue.

Multiple value selection lists - Problem filtering

I'm builing a news application with publisher, and one of the fields is a multiple value selection list. We're filtering news stories to different pages based on the values. Problem is, I can't get the right content items to display. I did it no problem with a single selection box. The code I'm using is:

How show ONLY images with problems or needing metadata update, etc?

In LR3, how do I show JUST the images that are waiting for a metadata update on disk?
Or, more importantly, how do I show images that have a problem - the little box on the top right of the thumbnail with the exclamation point.
If I have a dozen images out of 50,000 that have an error with "another process has updated the metadata" I want to see JUST THOSE IMAGES
so I can fix the problem...
How do I do this?

- LR appears to have a number of problems correctly identifying which images have metadata conflicts between the catalog and the files proper:

Problem in Sybase Metadata accessor information

Hi!
I am accessing Sybase database thru JConnect 5.5. If I try to access Metadata information, it throws the following exception. As per JConnect documentation, to access metadata info, one has to run a stored procedure i.e., sql_server.sql(for versions lesser than sybase 12.0 - I am using sybase 11.0.1) which is available with JConnect 5.5. I did the same. But still I am not able to access the metadata information. It throws the following Exception:
java.sql.SQLException: JZ0SJ: Metadata accessor information was not found on this database. Please install the required tables as mentioned in the jConnect documentation.

I am having the same problem.
The docs are saying:
To support JDBC DatabaseMetaData methods, Sybase provides a set of stored procedures that jConnect can call for metadata about a database. These stored procedures must be installed on the server for the JDBC metadata methods to work.
If the stored procedures for providing metadata are not already installed in a Sybase server, you can install them using one of two stored procedure scripts provided with jConnect:
sql_server.sql installs stored procedures on an Adaptive Server database.
sql_anywhere.sql installs stored procedures on an Adaptive Server Anywhere database.
I executed the script but i am still facing the same problem.

Problem filtering using between dates

Hi, I have a Measure in Webi that has to show the Invoicing Quantity between 2 dates. The thing is that i don't know how to do it and I tried many many times. The Dimension that has the date is a date field.
The thing is that i tried to "check" if i'm mispelling something and I added the dates (start date and End DAte) as filters in the execution of the consult and it brings the data without any fail and also the correct quantities.
How can I filter the invoicing quantities between 2 dates using a Measure?

Hi Stratos, I have created a derived table in order to bring the Invoicing. The Dates aren't prompts fields, there are a Formula that if a launch the report today, it has to bring the invoices between monday and friday of last week, and also the sales of the last 21 days (that's the second column).
The database is Oracle, I think the trouble is how the dates are shown by the DB, because are formated in DD/MM/YYYY HH:MM:SS and I need it only DD/MM/YYYY. I used the function To_date by oracle, but, still brings the HH:MM:SS, when I look for the values of the table.
This problem, I think is going also to Webi and when I try to filter using a Measure doesn't bring data, but If I use the filter used by Webi (the one that modifies the query, brings the data ok)
Can you help me?.

Problems syncing custom metadata

Running into a few problems when trying to work with custom metadata fields, as follows:
1) Sync Metadata command refuses to copy custom fields values across selected pictures.
2) When "Metadata->Show metadata for target photo only" is unchecked and writing a value to one custom field across several pictures it completely snafus the Smart Collections in the totals they show and also the pictures that are returned. In terms of the number indicators they either lock up, or become associated with the wrong metadata fields. Only a relaunch/optimize and another relaunch forces the totals to update properly otherwise they will not correctly reflect any changes made.
Are any of these known issues? There are some cool features here but it's giving me headaches!

are are right, Bridge supports only text fields for custom metadata:
Booleans have to be "True" or "False"
Dates have to be entered in ISO8601 format, e.g. 2011-08-26T13:53-02:00
Lists of Strings are working when you use commas or semicolons to separate the entries.
Dropdowns are not working
You have two options to accomplish you workflow:
You can use the "Generic Panel" example and feed it with the same XML file. This shows the "My Choice" property as dropdown.
But you have to open the File Info dialog to see and modify the properties.
You can create your own panel using the Creative Suite SDK with Flex, if you have programming skills.

Problems exporting snaphot metadata

I'm using OWB 9.2.0.4.0, and I'm having trouble exporting snapshot metadata:
After creating a snaphot of our project in development, I open the change manager and execute Export from the Snapshot menu. OWB does it's thing and then invariably gets stuck on 25% progress, never to return.
Any thoughts on this problem? Others experiencing this trouble?

Did you find anything in the export log file? Are you doing this by logging in as the OWB repository owner? Is your snapshot very big (containing a lot of objects). I tried to reproduce this, but was not able.

BIB - problem with retrieving metadata

I've Oracle 9i 9.2.0.2 (Win) installed, Oracle JDeveloper 9.0.3 and the latest BI Java Beans.
When I'm trying to run sample bibdemo, I receive messages that connection to Olap Service was established but failed to retrieve metadata
Any suggestions?

Sorry but with the limited information it is difficult to figure out the problem. However, my first question would be do you have the Windows 9.2.0.2.1 patch set installed correctly? A lot of users have failed to perform the Post Install steps from the readme such as running catpatch.sql. (Understandably so because the readme is HUGE!) Please take a look at my post on this OLAP forum with the title "9.2.0.2 Patch". There you will find abbreviated install instructions regarding the 9.2.0.2.1 patch set. Make sure you have actually completed the install process.
Also, the BI Beans have posted on OTN a client configuration diagnostic utility. The purpose of it is to gather information about your configuration that will help you and Oracle Support Services diagnose problems. You can find it at the following OTN link:
