Problems getting track times to import.

I have experienced a problem where the CD track times display on the CD I am importing, but when that CD is in the Library, some or all tracks display "not available" for the track time. When those tracks are downloaded to the I-pod, they get skipped over. Is there a way to edit in track times in the library, and in I-tunes itself? I'd like to not have to re-import a bunch of CD's if at all possible.

As far as I know, you can only generate track names on CD's from Gracenote if the order, the amount of tracks and the time per track on your CD is correct (= original).
So, if you have complete albums, and you are able to 'reconstruct' them as described above (same tracks in same order as on the original CD), than burn a CD from this. Mount this CD in iTunes, and let it search in Gracenote; if you did a good job, you will receive your track names. You can now re-import your tracks to iTunes.
But, when the albums that are incomplete or when you don't want to spoil all this empty CD's, I think you'll have to retype all your track names. Maybe you can look for the track names on Gracenote or amazon and copy-paste this.
One good thing : if you have converted your AAC's to AIFF's (that's how I understand it), you did get rid of the protection and you will be able to burn as many CD's from this songs as you want

Problem with track times and importing

Importing CDs onto my iTunes is usually OK, but on one CD a couple of tracks transfer to iTunes with incorrect playing time. Track 7 which is 2:54 shows on iTunes as 37:09; track 8 which is 3:25 shows on iTunes as 789:57:13 and will not play after being imported. Both play OK from CD.
I have the latest version of iTunes installed on XP Pro. This is the result from CD Diagnostics:

ITunes 11.4.0.18 will not get track names for imported mp3 albums.

I'm new to Apple (Windows 7 i7 Sandy Bridge processor 16GB ram) and recently got an iPod touch 5g 64GB and I am trying to figure out iTunes. I have GB's of albums that I have collected over the years in mp3 format. When I imported them to iTunes via...File>Add Folder to Library...It imported all of my albums, but, almost NONE of the tracks are in order and they are "scattered" for lack of a better word. Some are with the albums they are supposed to be with, but MOST made their own names and albums. Getting the tracks with the albums I fixed by doing it manually. Getting the tracks in order in the albums...HELP. I tried to "Get Track Names", but iTunes comes back with "iTunes cannot get CD track names for songs that were not imported using iTunes. To allow iTunes to look for CD track names for this song, import the song again using iTunes."???? I'm assuming that iTunes will only get the track names if they are imported from CD only and not mp3? If I have to manually enter all of the information in myself....God help me...just leave it unorganized???

When iTunes imports a CD it records the information used to look up the album in the Gracenotes database. When you add your tracks into a different library that data is no longer available. See Grouping tracks into albums for some tips on organizing iTunes content.

Problems getting correct time on Unix

I have a problem with retrieving the time for a unix application.
Problem:
- The date on Unix is set to GMT time (for example 12.00) - (without
adjustment for daylight)
- When I get the time with

I get the 11.00, (I expect 12.00)
What is wrong ?

Problem getting tracks to display in the right order

My music library does not always display tracks in the desired order. For example, after loading a concerto from a CD I find the movements are out of order. When I try to rectify this by putting a numeral into the track title itunes takes no notice. I've had the same problem organising talking book tracks: when I try to order the untitled tracks numerically, itunes reads the numbers oddly eg L1 01 is followed not by L1 02 but by L2 01; then it reverts to L1 02, then L2 02 etc. With letters itunes alphabet order without exception. Why does it not do so with numbers?
Does anyone have a suggestion or solution to this? Is there an easier way to get itunes to play the track in the desired order?

Either you have the list sorted on the wrong column heading or the track numbers are not populated. See Grouping tracks into albums for more info.

I have a Pages document I created that is 7 pages long with pictures--I went to reprint it and it shows up as only 5 pages--last 2 pages gone--I go to Time machine and to date right after it was created and do a Preview and all 7 pages are there--close Preview box--and keep that document selected--hit "Restore" and it comes back from the Future and asks me if I want to keep both documents or "replace original--I select "Keep both"--and guess what--the document I brought forward is truncated also to 5 pages!!
Can anyone tell me what is happening?--Hank

Try restoring it to an alternate location. Instead of clicking the Restore button at the lower right of the "Star Wars" display, click the "gear" icon in the TM Finder window's toolbar and select the +*Restore <item> to ...+* option, then, say, your desktop.
Use QuickLook on it there; if it's ok, I'd be inclined to rename it slightly and move it into the normal location.
I don't use Pages, but it sounds like it may be looking at a cached version.

ITunes cannot get track names

hi community,
although this subject is one often talked about, I have to reask it because my parameters are different from the other discussions.
Frist seen this error was when I transferred my music files per "home-sharing"-function between my MacbookPro (with CD-drive) and my iMac (without). After transferring while using >home-sharing > song-selection > "import" > importsettings as everytime (wave, 48kHz, Stereo, 16-bit) I tried to update the songnames and the artwork by "get album artwork" (worked fine) and "get track names" (error appeared).
So I was sad about not getting my music files working correctly on my iMac without buying an external drive, because "remote disk" is unable to share music and video cds/dvds.
So I thought about completing my music on my MBP (Snow Leopard) and transferring manually by copying and importing (that worked for some other files before).
I inserted the cd, started importing with settings above. After importing I saw that the tracks names saved on the cd weren't that optimal (correct yes, but the title included album and interpret, which I dont like: ALBUM: INTERPET - SONG".
So I searched the cd in iTunes (to know wether there are disc-info and disc-artwork to import), found it and tried to start getting track names. But the error appears.
Error-message (should be known): iTunes cannot get CD track names for files, which are not imported by iTunes. To get track names please import the CD with iTunes.
So I >imported< (not added) the CD directly about internal SuperDrive to my iTunes library. It got some file names from the CD, the album cover was taken from iTunes with "get album artwork". But getting tracknames ends up in this curious error.
Someone here, who finessed iTunes in this case? Deleting files completely and reimporting didn't make any difference. And changing all song names manuelly is actually no option because I have not enogh time yet.
Remeber the error appeared in this cases:
- iMac 27" (late 2012), Mountain Lion 10.8.4, latest iTunes --> importing albums with home-sharing (with should be the same like importing a disc (iTunes asks for format, import-settings, etc.)
- MacbookPro 15" (late 2010), Snoq Leopard 10.6.8, iTunes 11.0.4 --> importing CDs directly with internal superdrive. getting track names while CD is inserted worked, getting track names after ejecting cd to get iTunes-track-names got the error.
Maybe intereseting that this issue didn't appeared when I first set up my collection some month ago (in the meantime I cleaned up my MBP and know wanna make complete new collection). that time i think there was iTunes 9 or 10 actual ... but same discs etc. worked before. And on my iTunes on PC, where I made another music database for myself these month ago, everything worked perfectly fine including getting the track names ...
I'd be very glad if someone knows how to cope with this issue.

Movie clips have wrong time when importing

I use to rename my images before importing to iPhoto. I copy them from my camera to a folder in the desktop, rename everything to my like using Adobe Bridge, and then I import them to iPhoto. That way the name of a file usually corresponds to the one in the internal Library (control-freak as I am). That said, I never mess with the Library.
But I'm having this problem all the time: After importing, all the image pictures are listed on the event accordingly to their correct date/time, but the movie clips are not. They always have an irregular variation in time, sometimes with a difference of several hours, that I have to change manually using iPhoto "adjust date/time" to have them sorted ok chronologically. The strange thing is: that EXIF data is correct in Bridge! I even use this to view/reference the correct time in Bridge, and change it on the movie file already imported in iPhoto.
Could this be a bug in iPhoto, or is there something wrong with my way of importing? Again, it happens only to the movie files, not the images.

Thank you. I didn't know that.
But still, for me it's a common issue to have iPhoto reading a wrong "File Created" data on my imported movies, even though it seems to be OK on the original file. Does it ever happen to you, know about that issue? Sometimes I have ten or more movie clips in an event and it's a bit of a hassle to restore manually the correct time for each one.
Maybe it's Bridge fault, maybe it's iPhoto, maybe my workaround is the only answer to this "bug"?

I am having problems reestablishing my Time Capsule. I had to get a new internet modem and that seemed to screw up my Time Capsule. The amber light keeps blinking and it's not being picked up when my Macbook scans or when my PC scans for the wireless ne

I can't find my Time Capsule on my networks anymore. It's like it doesn't exist. We got hit by a storm and that might have caused our internet modem from ATT to fry. I replaced the modem today but now my Time Capsule isnt working. It's blinking amber. The PC its connected to through the ATT modem isn't finding it as it scans and its not in utilities. My MacBook isn't finding the time capsule either when it scans. Whenever I hooked up all the wires to the time capsule and the modem, the internet stops working. I've tried resetting the time capsule but it's still blinking. I had all my computer equipment on a power surge protector. A pretty good one. All my other equipment is fine. The ATT modem was old, so I thought it might not have even been the lightening. Nothing else in home was injured by storm. I am freaking out and need help!!! I can't use my MACbook to do my internet work and all my files were backed up on the time capsule.
Another problem. My Time Machine isn't backing up now either. What is up with that?

A PC can have more issues connecting than a Mac.
But it really should not matter.. so just try it in situ.. press and hold the reset.. once it starts up, it will return to default IP, 10.0.1.1 the PC should then be able to find it via the airport utility.
If not drag it over to the Mac and plug in there by ethernet.. or since it is a laptop, really should not be that difficult to drag the Laptop and plug it into the TC.
Important thing is to get access to the TC.
The Mac if it is running lion, then you MUST download and install 5.6 airport utility to do anything useful.

HI i have tried so many times to import images, both pictures and video from my hard drive to elements 131, and it keeps coming up with the error message " .....has stopped working we are looking for a solution to this problem etc " please help!

After taking days to upload elements 13 I am now having trouble even trying to import my images and videos into the program for editing. thanks for the reply. would you please tell me how to check for the folder to have write permission. I have done the same settings as before but this time does not transfer. It says can not read files with a code "298". I can see the thumbnails on the screen prior to trying to import the photos, also can see them with the card in the camera and using the view mode. I have up to date camera raw 7.4 for my Nikon D7100 and the settings allow for 7.1 and above

Use the trackpad to scroll, thats what it was designed for. The scroll bars automatically disappear when not being used and will appear if you scroll up or down using the trackpad.
This is a user-to-user forum and most people will post on here if they have problems. You very rarely get people posting to say there update went smooth. The fact is the vast majority of Mountain Lion users will not be experiencing any major problems with the OS, or maybe with apps which are not compatible, but thats hardly Apple's fault if developers don't update their apps.

Can you try to rename (not delete!) the folder named "YOUR_CATALOG_NAME Previews.lrdata" and restart Lightroom?

Lightroom encountered an error when reading from its preview cache and needs to quit. Says Lightromm will attempt to fix the problem the next time it launches, but on every re-launch I get the same message. Any clue as to how to fix this problem?

I recently updated my HP laptop's OS from WIndows8 to WIndows8.1. When I went attempted to open Lightroom5 I got the following message:
"Lightroom encountered an error when reading from its preview cache and needs to quit. "
"Lightroom will attempt to fix the problem the next time it launches"
Every time I relaunch I get the same message. I'd like to understand what might be causing the problem so I can remedy and get back to my photo editing. Any clue as to how to fix this problem would be greatly appreciated.
