Problems importing 4000 approx songs into itunes

I have recently purchased a new Apple Macbook. I am however experieicing importing all my songs into itunes. Approx 1,500 get imported successfully and then it just finishes with no explanation as to why its stopped.
I have also a Imac computer and this imported all 4000 approx songs successfully.
I am trying to import wirelessley.
My songs are on a Time Capsule (2008 model)

Same problem here. iTunes just won't import some of my mp3s and I can't figure out why. Most of my mp3s work respectively iTunes adds them but some of them won't - just nothing happens either through adding via the menu or drag&drop them. They just don't appear. Oh yeah and the mentioned mp3s work perfectly in winamp...

  • Can anyone help me import over 3000 songs into iTunes?

I can't "find" over three thousand songs on  my computer and back-up hard drive.  When I open my library it lists many songs but there are exclamtion points next to most.  I fiirst tried Apple support common problems and none of the remedies solved my proble.  I am not even sure how many iTunes files I have between my laptop and back-up hard drive.  Sure could use some help?  When I try to play a song from the libaray with an excalmation point it offeres the opotion to find the location.  I of course can do this but it will take me for ever to do one song at a time.  Thanks.

Uga, this is a link from Scott Patrie in the iTunes for Windows forum that I think may help resolve the poor sound issue.

  • I can't import any songs into iTunes.

I can't import any songs into iTunes. I can drag and drop but nothing will happen. Songs show up when a search is done but songs cannot be played or located in iTunes. I think this has something to do with the recent update because I have songs imported into iTunes from December.

I found the problem. I have VMware fusion that is hosting Window XP on the iMac. When the fusion is running the CD player is not seen in OS. By quitting Fusion I can now insert a CD and the disk icon appears on the OS screen. Now I can bring up iTunes and import the audio and continue as before. The one exception is I cannot bring in a photo of the album cover as before I have to drag the photo out of iPhoto and onto the desk top. Then I can drag it into the artwork patch in the iTunes/ info window.

  • Lockup when playing or importing songs into iTunes 7.6.1

Have anyone experienced a lockup in Windows when playing or importing songs into iTunes 7.6.1? Not sure if this is a problem of the new version or something I need to diagnose with my PC. I know alot you guys probably have MACs so I would appreciate any feedback you might be able to lend. Thanks in advance!!!

UPDATE: When all else fails reinstall everything! (without offending PC users, this is an accepted practice around here for pc software issues.....sorry). Anyway, trashing the old Spin DR and Toast Titanium and reinstalling seemed to get me going again. Sorry to bother everyone.

  • I used a usb turntable to import old vinyl records into iTunes. Then with the cloud and iTunes match I put them on another Mac.  The songs come up in the music list but they are greyed out.  How do I get them recognized.

I used a usb turntable to import old vinyl records into iTunes. Then with the cloud and iTunes match I put them on another Mac.  The songs come up in the music list but they are greyed out.  How do I get them recognized.  The symbol states the songs were downloaded from iCloud.  I would like to get them to play so that I can make a playlist, and burn a CD.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • Audio CD burning error- I opted for importing songs into iTunes as MP3

    Hi,
Before I started importing songs into iTunes, I chose int eh iTunes preferences to import all songs as MP3, as I wanted the option of being able to burn CDs to play on my car MP3 player.
When I tried to burn a CD, I got an error message that these songs could not be burnt onto the CD. This had the option where I could see all the errors and the list was of all the songs that I was trying to burn.
BTW, I created a new playlist, dragged the required songs to this playlist from the library and pressed the burn disc option.
What am I doing wrong? Could it be that the drive is faulty?

First of all, how long is the total time of all songs? If it is more than 80 minutes, you can't record to the CD as an audio CD. If that is the case, and you say you have an MP3 cd player in your car... you might want to try burning to the disc as an MP3 CD. Go to iTunes preferences, then click "Advanced," then "Burning" and you'll see an option for "MP3 CD." Click that, and then when you burn the disc, you can put as many songs as will fit onto the disc.
Also, rewritable CDs aren't any better... as a matter of fact, a lot of audio CD players can't read them. A regular CD-R should be fine, even one rated at 40x speed.

  • Uploading to online data storage: Now cannot download songs into iTunes

    Hello all.
I am not seeing this one on any FAQs, knowledge bases, or discussion boards yet:
I am doing my initial upload of files to SugarSync, a highly-recommended online data storage service. Since I started, I cannot download songs into iTunes, even from the iTunes Store.
On any new downloads from the iTunes Store, the song DOES appear in the Music library view but immediately after completing the download it shows the exclamation point warning that the file is not in its location. The new folders get created properly within the iTunes Music folder but the subfolder where the song should be is empty. Each time I had to write iTunes Support to get them to make the files available.
I can still add files manually, no problem. E.g., I can add *.mp3 or *.wav files or folders, I can convert them to AAC, etc. The glitch seems to occur only when automated loads into iTunes are operating.
As a test, I downloaded a song from Amazon. Here the problem was different but I could work around it manually. Normally the Amazon process loads songs automatically into iTunes, too. Here again, the download did create the proper folder in the iTunes Music folder, as it should, but this time the symptoms were reversed:
    (a) the mp3 file WAS in its folder as it should be (w/the iTunes DL, the file was NOT there)
    (b) the song did NOT appear in the iTunes Music view (w/the iTunes DL, the song DID appear)
    (c) I was able to browse to the file and tell it manually to load into iTunes (w/iTunes I had to write Support and wait a day).
(I wonder what's the cause of the differences between the two cases.)
Strictly speaking, I can't PROVE the problem has anything to do with SugarSync (which otherwise seems good so far), but the DL problem started as soon as I started using it. Something in the SugarSync upload or file-monitoring process, or an odd thin gin iTunes, seems to be preventing automated, direct loads into iTunes. And since the data service runs in background, so it can monitor file changes, that might mean I can't buy music anymore! Obviously that would be a dealbreaker with SS. (I have contacted SS on this but they've not had fair chance to reply yet.)
    1) Anyone else have this problem?
    2) Is this permanent or just temporary while I am doing the initial upload?
    3) Anyone know a solution?
(FYI, I am a highly-experienced user and otherwise quite handy with iTunes files, library moves, and backups. My library is entirely consolidated and all AAC.)
    Thanks.
(Oh, and this occurred in both iTunes 8 and the new iTunes 9, so it seems unrelated to the upgrade this week.)

UPDATE 1. CHANGING BROWSER HELPED -- OR DID IT?
I called Apple iTunes Support, who said the problem is new to them. The technician's hypothesis was that something, perhaps browser-related, was interfering with the initial creation of a temporary file (which should go to the Recycle Bin) that instead causes the completed file to go to there.
He noted that iTunes, though not going through one's browser onscreen, does use settings within one's default browser. I use Mozilla Firefox, so we switched to IE as the default browser, restarted iTunes, and the song downloaded with no problem! Then I switched back to Mozilla, restarted iTunes, and it worked AGAIN with no problem!
(Dutifully I advised SugarSync, which is still investigating.)
    UPDATE 2: ARTIST NAME CHANGE - SOME FILES GOT MIS-MOVED / MIS-CHANGED
Definitely something still wrong. This time some pre-existing song entries (not new downloads) lost their connection to their source file.
In iTunes, which manages folder names for artists and albums automatically, I corrected the spelling for an Artist, so immediately iTunes renamed the folder, and automatically SugarSync noted the change to be uploaded. While the changed folder name and all the songs within were still uploading to SS, in iTunes I saw exclamation points come up -- but only for some of them. Most files got moved or changed correctly, but several lost connection to their file (i.e., the file was removed for the original misnamed folder but never moved into the correctly-named folder). Weird.
Worse, in only some of those cases did I find the missing *.m4a file in the Recycle bin. (I had to retrieve old, original *.mp3 versions from another folder and re-import each into iTunes manually.) I've never seen iTunes have a problem managing an Artist rename until I started using the live SS process.
(I've reported this to SS and asked if there is a way to disable temporarily SS to see if that's the problem.)
[Note: I am willing to try downloads again but I am wary of trying to rename entire Artists (Folder) again. That was a lot of work.]

UPDATE 3: SERIES OF TESTS - 1 FAILURE USING iTUNES
Still problem occurs, but not always. Today, I rebooted PC. I tried CD, iTunes, & Amazon. I varied having the browser open when using iTunes.
Here are the results of a series of attempts to download songs. "FAIL" means the file did not load properly into iTunes or loaded but lost its connection (exclamation point warning).
    # Source Mozilla #Songs Result
    1 CD Closed 1 OK
    2 iTunes Closed 1 OK
    3 Amazon Open 2 OK
    4 iTunes Open 1 FAIL
    5 Amazon Open 1 OK
    6 iTunes Closed 1 OK
    7 Amazon Open 2 OK
    8 iTunes Open 2 OK
(I reported this to SS. Hoping they'll test and find the problem.)

  • HT1844 Library Issue:  I just imported 2 CD's into ITunes.  They show up in "Recently Added" and on my other devices via ITunes Match, but NOT in the ITunes software on the computer where I added them.

Library Issue:  I just imported 2 CD's into ITunes.  They show up in "Recently Added" and on my other devices via ITunes Match, but NOT in the ITunes software on the computer where I added them.  They show up in the search box, but when I click on the results it just kicks me to ALL my music.  I have imported thousands of songs/CD's before and this is a new one.

Something may have gone wrong with the index of the Music playlist. Making another change to the library such as downloading the current iTunes Free Single of the Week, or deleting one track from your library and reimporting it, should fix the problem.
If that doesn't work close iTunes and delete the hidden file sentinel from inside the main iTunes folder, then start iTunes again. It should run a consistency check when it starts up which ought to correct things.

  • How do you import copyright controlled cds into Itunes?

    Hi
how do you import copyright controlled cds into Itunes?
When i put the cd into my computer, Itunes does not read it like a regular cd. It does not show up in my source list.
I just want to put the songs on the cd onto my ipod.
The cd will play in windows media player and i was able to save the cd as wma files onto my computer, and then i tried to import those files, but Itunes says the file is copyright controlled, and the only way for itunes to import it is with the orignal cd? The original cd was in my D drive the whole time, but it still will not let me import.
I also tried physically looking into the CD for the music files, but those aren't there. The cd is like an enhanced cd where if you look into the drive for files there are no files except for 2 icons. The actual icon the open the player to play the cd and a uninstall icon.
does anyone know how to do this? PLEASE HELP!

I have downloaded the latest version of Itunes. I don't think that is the problem. Music companies have started issuing "copyright controlled" cds now especially on import versions of cds. I have the original cd, but Itunes cannot import it due to the copyright because it is protected. I read the "help" file on the cd, and what it does is you can play it as much as you like, you can make a copy of the cd only 3 times. The copy of the CD is also copyright protected. I have tried Itunes, WMA, Sonicstage, Sonic and etc programs, but nothing has worked.
Hopefully, someone from APPLE will now what I mean about the copyright controlled CDs. I only want to be able to listen to the music on my IPOD. Nothing has worked

  • Can't drag songs into iTunes 8

I've been recording LPs (with Audacity) and converting them to CDs by burning the playlists in iTunes for years. I hadn't done it for a couple of months, and in the meantime iTunes was upgraded from version 7 to version 8. My procedure is this: I recorded in Audacity, split and name the tracks with the song names and export them as aiff files at 41.000kHz 16 bit. I then drag them into a playlist in iTunes from the finder and burn the CD. Now I cannot drag the songs into iTunes at all. I've tried using the command Add to Library, and that doesn't work either. I've checked that the songs are not locked, and I've looked at the Import settings in the preferences and set the encoder for AIFF. What's wrong here? Has Apple locked out users who want to do this?
    thanks,
    Jack

Funny how we´re doing and experiencing the same, although maybe not for the same reasons... I have been converting my old LPs to CD with Audacity on a WinXP box, soon gave up because of the flabbergasting speed of it (not audacity, the box...). Begin last month almost transformed the monitor into the flattest screen on earth; fortunately not, as I still needed it to order my first Mac, 5 minutes later.
I believe Apple wants us to drag and drop the AIFFs into the *Burn Folder* straight in the Finder now (right under Documents), which carries a convenient <Burn> button (top right) to burn everything in there on a CD. It works for me anyway, that´s how I´m doing since last week. Took me some time to find out though, grant you that!

  • Importing a complete library into iTunes at the same time.

I recently purchased my first Mac and have copied all of my files from my laptop to the iMac, this includes my iTunes library. My question is how do I then import the songs into iTunes and not have to do it one song at a time...as I have hundreds of songs I really don't wont to do one at a time, but this seems to be the only way I have figured out how to do it.
    Appreciate the assist.

Just use the Add to Library command and select the folder in which you have your tracks.
