Problems importing files or folders into my itunes library

When I try to import files, mp3, wav etc, from my hard drive into my itunes library they seem to be automatically being deleted from my hard drive. I can play them in windows media player but they disappear into the ether if I want them on my Ipod. Any Ideas?

  • How do I import a mp4 disc into my itunes library

I have MP4 files on a disc and want to import them into my itunes library.  I have tried to drag them, and then I will see the name in the library, however, the file itself does not download, so I cannot play the file without the disc in my computer.  Please give me some baby step directions to take care of this.  Thanks so much

I had the same problem. I found the solution by accident.
Open the Movie mp4 in Quick Time 10. There is a share button (or click share on the menu) and select iTunes. It will take awhile for the file to be imported into iTunes.

  • HT1349 why when i import a comperlation cd into my itunes library  it splits it into different parts

hello when i import a cd in to my itunes  library from my collection  it spliys it into differant albums ect   acample my epic cd x3  is split into about 20 alboms

You either put in a blank CD as roaminggnome suggests, or something mechanical went wrong with your player, damaging the CD.  Check for scratches.
iTunes has no facility for erasing a CD.  You would have to deliberately do that with a disk or DC burning utility.

  • Import files, sub folders Into Azure Storage

    Hi,
Since Azure storage can have containers and blobs within those containers, I like to understand how Microsoft will upload the files / folders to Azure Storage if I start an import job. The situation is, I have a main folder say "c-amazingelephants-wotws"
    that will be container in Azure Storage. In that folder I have some subfolders and files that I need to upload. See snapshot below;
I have written the utility that uploads "c-amazingelephants-wotws" as a container, uploads flipbook with blob name "files\assets\basic-html\flipbook", uploads "cart.css" in style subfolder as "files/assets/basic-html/style/cart.css"
etc. Is that how Microsoft would upload the files? If yes then that will make my life easier and I can have Microsoft take care of 300 GB worth of my data.
    Appreciate your help,
    Thanks,
    Ahmar

    hi Ahmar,
    Thanks for you posting!
Yes, you can upload your files on Azure blob. But you may need set your blob name such as "files/assets/basic-html/style/cart.css". You could coding a project to do this job. About how to use Azure blob, I suggest you refer to this document:
    http://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/articles/storage-dotnet-how-to-use-blobs/
Also, for this common issue, I suggest you could refer to this Gaurav's answers in this post(https://social.technet.microsoft.com/forums/azure/en-US/0a184e05-1d20-4b37-9ce5-bee8a5b6d09c/how-to-create-sub-folder-inside-container-in-azure-storage
Any questions about this issue, Please feel free to let me know.

  • How can I put my mp3 files into my iTunes library? Every time I download a song from a website and try to drag it to my library, it won't add on. How can I fix this?

Back then when I had the older update with iTunes i never had this problem with trying to put my mp3 files of music into my iTunes library. Now it doesn't want to be put into the library. Once I try to drag the music file to the iTunes library nothing happens, it just keeps showing a cancellation sign with my mouse. So how can I fix this?

    Hi William.
The problem is probably that the index is corrupt and you need to completely re-create it rather than rebuilding individual mailboxes. I have no idea what the situation really is now after having tinkered with the contents of ~/Library/Mail/, though, so the following procedure may or may not work.
Verify/repair the startup disk (not just permissions), as described here:
The Repair functions of Disk Utility: what's it all about?
After having fixed all filesystem issues, if any, and making sure that there’s enough space available on the startup disk (a few GB, plus the space needed to make a backup copy of the Mail folder), try this:
    1. Quit Mail if it’s running.
    2. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Mail/. Make a backup copy of this folder, just in case something goes wrong -- e.g. by dragging it to the Desktop while holding the Option (Alt) key down.
    3. Locate Envelope Index and move it to the Trash. If you see an Envelope Index-journal file there, delete it as well.
    4. Open Mail. It will tell you that your mail needs to be “imported”. Click Continue and Mail will proceed to re-create Envelope Index -- Mail says it’s “importing”, but it just re-creates the index if the mailboxes are already in Mail 2.x format.
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user’s home folder, i.e. ~/Library is the Library folder within the user’s home folder.

  • I can't import any files or folders into Final Cut Pro 7.0.3 projects

I can't import any files or folders into Final Cut Pro 7.0.3 projects. When I select import and then either files or folders, I am able to navigate to the drive where the media is being stored, but then when I scroll to locate the files or folders the drive disappears. This problem began as an intermittent problem, but now I cannot import any files or folders. This problem started when I upgraded my operating system to Yosemite version 10.10.2 on my mid-2010 Mac Pro running with 16 GB of memory and an ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024 MB graphics card. Can anyone help me figure out and solve this serious problem? Thanks!

Then just drag the files/folders from your hard drive into FCP.  Don't use the IMPORT option...just drag and drop.
The problem started when you installed an OS that doesn't support FCP 7.  So if you want things to work smoothly, it's best to go back to an OS that did support FCP 7. Yosemite was written without taking FCP 7 functionality in mind, so it isn't fully functional. It might not do one thing for someone...but works for you in that respect. But then you can't do something else. The ways it doesn't work is always random.  Or it might work great for some people, because they don't use functions that might no longer work....so they don't notice it.

  • Best way to import music folders into new media library

I have searched, but have not been able to find an answer. I have recently just moved my music library from my internal hard drive to an external hard drive. I also consolidated my library so that it will have the new naming convention, etc in the new media library.
I am now ready to import songs/folders into my new library and want to make sure I do it correctly. Is it as easy as moving my music folder to the new external HD music location; selecting file/add to library/ and then selecting the folder? I just want to make sure I am doing it correctly. Thanks in advance!

    iTunes > preferences > advanced
    1. make sure iTunes is pointed to your external HD
    2. check +keep iTunes media folder organized+
    3. check +copy files to ... when adding to library+
all new content will be added to the specified location *provided that* the external HD is mounted on your desktop before iTunes is launched.

  • Recently purchased song and another I transfered into my ITunes library vannot be set up in a playlist.I get the message"file cannot be located".Originally I could listen to the purchased song but now that will no longer play. What do I need to do to ?

Recently purchased a song from ITunes and another that I downloaded from a CD will not transfer to a playlist and will not even allow me to listen to the songs.I get the message "file cannot be located"What can I do to get my system to locate the file?Originally I could play the songs from my desktop and I was able to transfer to my IPad.

Because the location for each song in your library is on your hard drive.  If the hard drive isn't there, how can iTunes play it?
You'll have to move/copy the music from your hard drive to your computer's hard drive.
Basically, EASIEST way to do all this, if you don't care about your play counts, etc...
-Delete EVERYTHING from iTunes, so that your library is now empty.
-Go to "Advanced" inside of the "Preferences" window, found in the "Edit" drop-down.  You can also access Preferences by pressing Ctrl+, (Press Ctrl and the comma key)
-Change your iTunes Media Folder Location to something simple, but on your computer. I use C:/iTunes.  Make sure "Keep iTunes Media Folder Organized" and "Copy files to...." are both checked.  You can close Preferences now.
-Now, drag and drop your music from your hard drive into your iTunes library.  iTunes will automatically add the music to your library, as you would expect, and also creates a copy of each file to place into that iTunes Media Folder you just created.
    Shouldn't have any more problems...

  • I clicked and drug music into my itunes library folder inI clicked and drug music folders stead of adding it with itunes. how do i get itunes to see the new music?

I drug music folders into my itunes folder instead of useing the add folder feature in itunes. What do I do now to allow iTunes to see and play this new music? There is now about 40 gigs of music like this in a 140 gig library.

    NTG,
Dragging them into the iTunes folder does not add them to the library.  However, you can still add them to the library by finding the new location you dragged it to, and using the command File > Add folder to library.
