Problems importing files.

Hi all,
I'm having problems with my lightroom cc when importing files from my desktop.
First, the lightroom is not generating thumbnails from those files (which I edited the metadata using the Bridge), than, when I try to import them, the software stops responding and get stuck as "importing files".
Check the images of my screen attached. I don't know what to do anymore.
Anyone?!!?

It is happening when importing any files from any of my HDs, some problem. doesn't generate thumbnails, and get stuck....

  • Unusual Problem importing files in Lightroom 3

I am totally delighted with Lightroom 3 on my new MacPro, BUT I am experiencing a minor but mysterious problem when I download and import files. Here is what happens.
In the right-hand panel, under Destination, I select the folder where I want the downloaded files to appear. An arrow indicates that folder, in most cases a folder for the current year, in whch all my downloaded files appear in sepaerat folders for each day's shoot. I have also clicked the "Into Subfolder" box, and selected to organize the files by date, selecting a certain date format in the second box.
At this point, Lightroom 3 displays a greyed-out Subfolder within my selected destination folder, named in the way I have chosen, presumably showing me where the folder will appear once the import is complete. I then click import and Lightroom imports the photos.
But when I return to the grid view and look to see where that day's Subfolder of newly imported images actually shows up, I get a surprise. It is never in the destination folder I selected and that was marked with that small whit arrow marker. Instead Lightroom has placed it several steps up in my folder hierarchy, actually in the root level where all my image folders and subfolders start from.
But since that is not where I wanted this folder to appear, the first thing I try is to click and hold on the misplaced newly imported subfolder and try to move it to the folder where I had wanted it to appear. But I get a message saying that it is impossible to move because a folder of that name already exists where I wanted to move it. Sure enough, when I look at the folder structure in my Macintosh finder I see that the import is indeed in the correct place, with the new subfolder and files renamed as I specified in the Import dialog. But it doesn't show up that way in Lightroom 3.
I have even discovered a slow workaround to get it to appear where it really, already is. I select the newly imported but misplaced folder of images, and remove it from the catalog. Then I go to the folder in which I wanted it to appear, and click on Synchronize Folder in the Library menu, and then, final, in what is actually a second import, that folder appears, and in the correct spot.
This happens again and again, consistently. I am running SnowLeopard, of course, on a very new MacPro. What on earth can be happening. I find this very strange. Any suggestions or explanations would be greatly appreciated. Is this a known bug, or something just happening to me?
    Thank you, Lito

Thanks for your post and sorry you're also experience this two-folders-in-LR but only-one-at-the-Finder-level problem.
It looks like I've finally solved this problem, but I suspect I did so the hard way ... if I even understand where in the process things were fixed. As previously posted, when I tried to "move" one folder in LR into the other, LR got confused and deleted the entire contents of one of them! This was the existing one I had been using. Thousands of photos gone! I searched the hard drive and even used disk recovery software but, no, they had vanished. I luckily retrieved these photos from a backup drive, so that's good, but it makes one nervous to fiddle around with this particular problem.
Anyway, BEFORE I imported the new photos from the back-up drive, I first deleted LR prefs and in the process stumbled upon old LR prefs from LR2 and LR3 Beta. Cleaned them all out -- including LR prefs -- and wondered if that had anything to do with the problem. Then rather than Import>Copy the photos, I worked at the Finder level and copied them into position in the <2010> folder, retaining the month and date folder structure. This is at the Finder level. Then in LR, I used Import>Add and the photos properly were added to the existing <2010> folder (the newer of the two that was still there after the disaster ... the new one that LR is intent on importing into). It all works now.
Hope I've written that so you can follow along. Don't know if that will help you in your situation. If you have questions, please let me know.
Good luck, but don't work without a backup, OK?
    Best,
    Bradley

  • Problem importing files into Elements 9

Apparently Photoshop Elements 9 dropped the ability to import files from the computer in the order they are on the computer.  The only option is "date oldest" and "date newest".  This is a problem if you are combining pictures from multiple cameras with some cameras having improperly set dates.  We order tthe pictures by file name, only to have them scrambled by Elements 9 prior to uploading to Kodak.  My old version  (Elements 4) had this third option "file order" that apparently was dropped along the way. Does anyone know of "a work around."    BTW - going to Kodak and "pulling the files using their system doesn't work because it fails to bring the label along with the upload.

    Hello,
A lot has changed between Photoshop Elements 4 and 9. While "File Order" was dropped from the sort list of the Organizer Thumbnail View, it is the order method used by both the Import Batch and Folder Location Views. You can change Views by going to the Display button in the top right:

  • Problems Importing Files Into Dreamweaver

I have previously imported files in Dreamweaver by dragging them from my desktop & dropping them into my websites local files.  Suddenly today, I can't get any files to import into Dreamweaver.  I am using Dreamweaver 13.2 on a Mac with OS 10.9.2.

Nothing.  I drag the files from my desktop to the target folder in Dreamweaver, and nothing happens.  I have tried shutting everything down & bringing it all back up, and I have also tried re-saving the file to the desktop.  I was putting an html file into Dreamweaver when I noticed it wasn't working, so I tried a Word doc & PDF, all with same results.  Out of desperation, I just tried re-synching my website, but (as I expected), nothing changed.

  • Problems importing files in JDeveloper 10g

    Hi,
I have a project recently migrated to be developed in Oracle JDeveloper 10g (it was former developed in JDev 9), but when recompiling the project, some errors had occurred in import clauses.
There are some classes that are not recursed into a package and, importing them from one class that belongs to a package, it generates an error.
    An example of the architecture:
    EnderecoPensta
    AtualizaEndereco
    gov
    |_ Curriculo
    |_ CurriculoPDF
When adding 'import EnderecoPensta;' to gov.Curriculo, JDeveloper returns an error:"Error(3,22): '.' expected"
Otherwise, it returns: "Error(51,7): class EnderecoPensta not found in class gov.Curriculo"
Could someone help me with this?
    Thanks
    Diogo

OK, so the integrated run-time supports JSP 2.0 and tag files. But what I'm after is support in the design-time components. Specifically, I want to produce a set of user interface components that I can place in the component palette and have rendered in the JSP visual editor.
As far as I can tell (see previous post), jDeveloper's editor doesn't understand JSP 2.0 features. Therefore I suspect that the design-time as a whole doesn't and so I'll have to use regular Java tags for anything that needs to be able to be rendered at design time.
Oh well. Maybe I can write a Java tag implementation that somehow invokes a tag file and just write a simple wrapper taglib specifically for use within jDeveloper at design time.

  • Problems importing files already in iPhoto

OK... so I have imported videos into iMovie that were originally in .avi format, and were not in my iPhoto library, and they've worked just fine. But when I try to upload files that are already recognized by iPhoto and have thumbnails attached, I can't seem to select them for import. The files are orignially in .mpg format, but I have also tried converting them to .avi and iMovie still won't allow them to be selectable when trying to import.
Any help would be much appreciated.

OK... so I have imported videos into iMovie that were originally in .avi format, and were not in my iPhoto library, and they've worked just fine. But when I try to upload files that are already recognized by iPhoto and have thumbnails attached, I can't seem to select them for import.
Unlike files imported into previous versions of iMovie, files transferred at the "Finder" level into iMovie '08 are not automatically converted to DV for editing. Instead, iMovie '08 checks to see if the files contain audio and video content which is editable in its "native" compression format. If the audio and video content is editable, then the files are normally imported. If not, the iMovie '08 will not import them.
The files are orignially in .mpg format, but I have also tried converting them to .avi and iMovie still won't allow them to be selectable when trying to import.
Muxed compression formats like MPEG-1, MPEG-2, VOB, MOD. TOD, Flash, etc., do not contain audio and video synchronized instances (i.e., frames) of data and therefore cannot be edited in "frame level" editors like iMovie, FCE, FCP, QT Pro, etc. Nor, can they normally be properly converted to editable QT compatible formats using QT applications like GarageBand, iTunes, QT Pro, etc. without losing the audio content.
Files like AVI or MOV are actually just containers -- not an audio/video compression format. They can contain hundreds of combinations of audio and video compression formats which may or may not be "Edit" compatible with iMovie '08. Therefore, whether or not a particular file can be imported directly to iMovie '08 usually depends on what audio and video codecs where used to create each particular file. Casio digital cameras, for instance, often use an AVI file containing MJPEG video (which is compatible) and DVI ADPCM audio (which is not). The same holds true foe Kodak's MOV files which contain MJPEG video (still edit compatible) with µ-Law audio (another incompatible audio format).
The basic strategy here is to actually open the file, check the codecs used, and convert any "offending" data to an acceptable compression format for import/editing. Conversion compatible formats like MJPEG/µ-Law or MJPEG/DVI ADPCM can be converted to iMovie '08 editable files by QT applications like iMovie '06, GarageBand '08, iTunes, QT Pro, as well as, any number of third-party file conversion applications. Also be advised also that there appears to be a bug in the import of some supposedly compatible files (like MPEG4/AAC slideshows created by iPhoto) which seem to import on some platforms but not on others. Strangely enough, if your platform will not import such files directly, simply placing the data in an MP4 file container without performing any re-compression makes the file data iMovie '08 compatible.

  • Re importing files to AE problem

I followed the help instructions to re-import files to an AE project, but I had one problem. Certain files don't appear in my timeline, they are unviewable, and they have a different name and icon next to them. I'll provide a screen shot to show you what I mean.
Let me also explain the process of how I imported them. There's three things you should know first.
    1. the files are in multiple folders, and those folders are within other folders.
    2. The files I'm importing are .jpg files.
    3. I'm using a mac with After Effects CC
So what I did first after it told me I was missing 210 files, was double click on the first missing file. It prompted me to choose the file in my finder, just like the help said. I double clicked the first file I wanted to replace. It then said that 48 files were recovered. I thought this was great, and repeated the same process for each of the other folders. Everything worked perfectly, except the initial files I clicked on had become some other file type. I tried to replace them but it didn't work. They no longer appeared in the timeline either. so I managed to replace the vast majority of my files, but about 4 of them don't work. I'm posting a screen shot to show you the icon that appears next to them after I recovered them. I have no idea what these icons mean and I can't work with those images. Any idea how to get my original image back in there?

That icon says that this is an image sequence---i.e., a set of images that are treated as one footage item (as a movie), not as independent still image footage items.

  • Problem related to OSS Note - importing file problem

    Hi,
I m facing an issue while implenting an oss note 430580 , i have to import files from sapserver.
but i don't know how to do it.
below is the description of my problem.
Import the following files from SAPSERV:
    /general/R3server/abap/note.0430580/K000687.PLM
    /general/R3server/abap/note.0430580/R000687.PLM
Import the two files into your system.
For more information on SAPSERV, see Note 13719.
Can any one tell me how can i get rid out of this prioblem.
whether this is possible or BASIS Team can only do this.
    system details
    Operating system     SunOS
    Machine type         sun4u
    R/3 release 4.6C

Well, these files are part of the zip.file which belong to the note. This is part of a regular transport and is normally done be basis. The data and the cofile (K....PLM & R...PLM) should be imported into your system. Before doing so they have to be transferred to the file server. Better let BASIS do these kind of things.

Doublechecking, roy. After making the preferences change, are you leaving the General tab by clicking the OK button down the bottom-right-hand corner of the tab?

  • Getting Started with FCE - Problems with my imported files

    Hi,
I'm trying to get started with Final Cut Express, but I'm experiencing lots of problems when I import my project from iMovie.
My project contains video, which I imported into iMovie at 960 x 540. It also contains some keynote animations, which I exported from Keynote as quicktime files.
When I export my files to FCE, I instantly get problems.
    1) When I add the imported file to the sequence, I get an "Attention the clip does not match the sequence's setting or any of your sequence settings" error.
    2) Whether I choose to translate my settings or not, I try to play the video in the timeline, but there is a continuous beeping sound, no audio from my video and when it hits the keynote animations, it just says "unrendered" or "media offline".
Please can you offer any advice on how I can get started with FCE more successfully.
    Thanks!

    Hi(Bonjour)!
(please specify iMovie and FCE version)
Well, your sequence settings in FCE should be DV-PAL 48 Khz.
    Create a new sequence.
From iMovie and Keynote, export your movie with quicktime conversion andd select DV-PAL 48 kHz (*And Not* DV Stream...). This material should play without rendering because his format and codec match the sequence's codec.
Import your files and everything should be OK.
    Michel Boissonneault
The audio should be AIFF 48 kHz 16 bit linear PCM

  • Permissions problem when importing file in Final Cut Pro X 10.1.3

    Hi guys!!
Today, like all days, I opened up my Final Cut Pro X version 10.1.3 and created a new Library and new project. Then I selected "Import Files" and I checked all the files I needed. Last I clicked on import selected files and I received this error:
"Directory Not Writable. The chosen directory is not writable."
This is a real tragedy. I have to start an important project and I can't use the program at all.
This is what I tried so far:
    - Checked Macintosh HD permissions - Done - No problems
    - I use an external HD as my scratch disk - Checked - No problems
    - Tried to create a new project on a new HDD - Same error
    - Checked Read / Write permissions on Macintosh HD and on footage folders - No problems
    This is my Mac:
    - iMac 21,5" Mid 2011
    - Core i5 2,7 GHz
    - 16 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
    - AMD Radeon HD 6770M 512 MB
    - HDD 1TB
    - 2nd External HDD WD My Book 3 TB USB 3.0
    - OS Yosemite 10.10
I'm in panic. And I really don't know how to resolve this problem....
Thanks for every little help you will give me.

    And you're using managed media?
Did you repair permissions for the drive?
What OS are you using? Did you update to Yosemite? Did you do a clean install?

  • Having problems importing my .mov file.

I am having problems importing several .mov files into iMovie. I also can't import .wmv files and I have been utterly confused. I know I have to convert the files but I don't want to pay for a program because I will only be converting 4 files. Please help!

    What is Mpeg Streamclip
It is a free conversion application that accesses the QT structure and all installed QT components without having to pay the $30 for QT Pro or purchasing GarageBand. It's "engine" is MPEG-based, so it can do some things that QT Pro cannot do ( e.g., retaining audio content when converting multiplexed compression formats). On the other hand, it cannot perform layer operations like QT Pro can so these applications are somewhat complementary.
and is there anyway you can send me a link to download this program please?

  • Problems importing .mov file

I am all of a sudden having problems importing .mov files from my camera in iPhoto '08. Can't get them to import in Image Capture either...On the import preview screen, all that comes up are empty "boxes". If I highlight one of the boxes, it shows that it is .mov file, the size of the file, etc. but if i try to do the import, iPhoto just locks up.

iPhoto does not like very large movie files for importing directly from the camera. If you get it on the desktop you should be able to import it. I've imported 200MB movies with no problem.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
