Anyone having issues importing movies into iTunes after the current update?

Problems importing .mov file

I am all of a sudden having problems importing .mov files from my camera in iPhoto '08. Can't get them to import in Image Capture either...On the import preview screen, all that comes up are empty "boxes". If I highlight one of the boxes, it shows that it is .mov file, the size of the file, etc. but if i try to do the import, iPhoto just locks up.

iPhoto does not like very large movie files for importing directly from the camera. If you get it on the desktop you should be able to import it. I've imported 200MB movies with no problem.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Problem loading pages after update to Firefox 36

After updating from Firefox 35.0.1 to version 36, I am unable to load any pages in Firefox. (My internet connection is fine and I can use other browsers on the same computer.)
I've already tried many troubleshooting routines to fix the problem but none have worked. I've tried the instructions here:

I've also tried the more general and extensive troubleshooting here:

NONE of the suggestions in any of those pages solved the problem. Opening Firefox is Safe Mode did not help either. I was unable to load pages even in Safe Mode.
After following all of the steps in all of those troubleshooting guides and still failing, I uninstalled Firefox completely. (I followed all official directions on how to uninstall.) Then I re-installed Firefox VERSION 35.0.1. Firefox again worked fine with the older version.
Then I restored my profile from a backup using MozBackup. (My most recent backup was done when I had Ver. 35.0.1 installed.) Everything was still fine; Firefox worked fine and all of my settings were back to my preferences.
Finally, I again tried to update to version 36 - and the same thing happened! Unable to load any pages!
One other thing I've noticed: With version 36 installed, there is something wrong with my Options dialog. The first time I upgraded, I had only blank tabs for "General" and "Advanced"; with my second try, after updating to V 36 my Options dialog has blank tabs for "General" and "Search" (although Advanced is now showing.)
I am going to uninstall again, and again go back to V 35.0.1. But I would like to be able to update to the newest version. What can I do?
(I am a long-time Firefox user, and reasonably computer savvy. I have many extensions installed as I use Firefox as an important tool in my job as a website designer. I have Firefox extensively fine-tuned to my liking to optimize my work-flow.)

For users who have one or more builds from mozilla.org this will not work.
It would be best to have the full path so if you had placed the untared contents
in a folder in /home it would be /home/<username>/foldername/firefox/firefox –P
An easy way would be not to do it in a terminal but in say a launcher since
you have to point it to the firefox script in Firefox folder you can then add –P
on end. You can also have the exact "profilename" after the -P so Firefox
will start with that Profile.

I'm having problems with itunes after updating. I've lost all my playlists,,finally played around with it and got the songs back but some have an exclamation point beside them and can't be located. they are songs i've purchased. I'm not very computer literate so this is a major problem. I have spent hours with this. I just want all my songs to play even though I'm not happy that I have to recreate my playlists. It would be so much easier if I knew and understood how to correct this. Has anyone else had this problem and if so..is there an easy way to correct it?

Problems importing movies into Keynote

I have been using Keynote for a couple of years (now using Keynote 08 on a MacBook running 10.5.5). I recently started having problems importing movie files into my Keynote presentations. I usually just drag a .mov file and it plays with no problems, but lately when I do this it doesn't appear on the Keynote slide and when I play the presentation I get only audio w/ no video. I tried importing the files to quicktime and exporting them again to be sure they were in the correct format. This seemed to work a few times, but now that isn't working either. Any suggestions?

I'm having what sounds like the same problem. I have Quick Time video from a Flip Cam that I want to use in a KeyNote presentation. I added the movie successfully at first, but when I opened the file to continue work, it appeared as a black box. It has sound, but no image. I can see it ok in the navigator. I've searched the forum for answers, but haven't found anything that works yet.
Does the display setting have anything to do with this? One of the computers I work on has the display set to use with a LED projector. Thanks

Perform a hard reboot
Hold down the Home button and Power button on your iPhone or iPad and keep holding them until you see the Apple logo. Once you do, you can let go. When your device boots back up, go ahead and check to see if the apps have started re-downloading. If they still appear to be stuck, continue on.

Im using a Playbook SN 1344-6061-5356. After update to firmware 2.1.0.1753 the audio function is not working if I am connected with USB speakers.
Pairing is okay, but the audio stream comes with no volume.

This problem can be resolved by rebooting your iPod touch. Hold down the power button and wait for the upper red slider. Then slide it to shut down, and after a minute, click the power button for 5 seconds to boot it up.

Problems with Gband after updating to iTUnes 7 and Quicktime

many times in the past, a quicktime and/or iTunes update has caused some weird stuff. Did you repair permissions after the update? Sometimes that will clear it up. Other times, many folks have gone back to the previous versions until a fix was found.

Hey guys, I am having a bit of bother with my iphone. Basically i was given an iphone 3g and I'm not really sure where it came from but it had a vodafone sim, I am on an orange contract so i took out the vodafone sim and put the orange one in and to my surprise it worked, it has been working fine for months but tonight I decided to do an update on itunes and now it is telling me that the "sim card in this phone does not appear to be supported" and and my phone is stuck on a screen with the usb cord and the itunes logo telling me to connect it, also i can only make emergency calls. What on earth have i done? I no longer have the original sim so cant use that to activate it
Is there any way to fix this? I had no idea doing an update would cause this trouble and atm my phone is useless.

The problem also appeared for some people after updating to 7.0, and for some after updating to 6.1.3, or 6.1.2, or to 5.1, 5.0, etc. and some first saw it without updating at all. Which argues against it being a software problem with 7.1 specifically.
Restore your phone using iTunes and set it up as a new phone. It you still have the problem it is a hardware failure.

I have used gnome3 about 3 week ago, but after my last update I have some problems.
I use 2 monitors (notebook and external). When I have external monitor connected gdm will crashes. I can see only black screen after gdm is started. But when I have external monitor disconected gdm runs normalI can connect external monitor before login or after login and it is still ok. Before update it was ok.
Seccond: when I click shut down at gnome3, gnome is comming down but system not. Monitors has no signal (graphic output is switch off) but notebook is still switch on. Only squeeze switch off button is help me. Before update it was ok.
