Echec <<<<So, when the Installer checked the OS Release, it didn't find the correct one.
The message said that you should have one of this OS:
Redhat-3, SuSE-9, Redhat-4, UnitedLinux-1.0, asianux-1 or asianux-2As previously posted, you should check from the Installation Guide that you have the right OS requirements before running the Installer.

Problem building Client JVM on RedHat Linux 7.1

Hi :)
I am trying to build the client VM on RedHat Linux 7.1. I have religiously followed all the pre-requirements, making sure that I meet them all.
Nevertheless, I get a bunch of error messages. They are divided into two categories:
- "cannot convert int * to socklen_t * in various methods in the file src/os/linux/vm/hpi_linux.hpp
- "class blah is implicitly friends with itself"; this one happens in various souce files, e.g. /share/vm/ci/ciObject.hpp
Any ideas?

Error while installing OWB on Redhat Linux

Hi,
I installed Oracle database on Linux , while installing oracle i got error
error while writing to directory /tmp/OraInstall<date> please ensure that this directory is writable and has atleast 60mb of disk space. Installation can not continue
then i did some thing and it went thru, now i am trying to install the OWB again i am getting the same error and i was browsing net past 2 days for a solution but i din't get one
while installing oracle i have not made any notes, that was my mistake
Please suggest me the possible solution or the Document which can guide me

Hi,
the problem is the logfile for the installation. Every oracle installtion writes a log file with this name in a predefined directory. Make the directory /tmp writable for oracle and extend the disk quota at least 60 MB.

Hello can anyone help. I am unable to install 8i on redhat 7.3. i have untar glibc118-v3 to /usr/local and done a link to files. But when i run "./runInstaller". I get "please wait initializing Java virtual machine" and it just sits there..

JVM problem during Oracle8i installation on Redhat Linux 9

I was trying to install Oracle8i Release 2 (8.1.6) for Linux on P4-1.7Ghz pc running Redhat Linux9.
I created a new user and gave appropriate piviliges also.When i gave the ./runInstaller command it gave me the error as follows..

More problems on installing 9i on RedHat 7.0

I have problems installing 9i at RH70 also. But in my case I
can't even start Oracle Installer, only generate a segmentation
fault. (I can't reproduce this behaviour installing 9iAS release
1, by the way) Two doubts:
- Can somebody confirm whether install 9i on RH7.0 is absolutely
impossible? I saw someone wrote that installation on 7.1 is
perfect, but no upgrading.
- How many RAM do I really need? I got 9i CDs from pack sent to
iDevelop 2001 public, but I found on docs that minimum is 256MB
("Oracle9i: Quick Installation Procedure" part number A90352-01)
and 512 MB also (last one on "Oracle 9i Installation Checklist"
part number A90455). I have exactly 256 MB RAM.

Here's how to find out which RH release you're running:
Do a
rpm -qa | grep -i redhat
On a RH 7.0 the output will contain the line
redhat-release-7.0-1
on a RH 7.2 it will read
redhat-release-7.2-1
I don't have a 7.1 system at hand but I assume it will read
redhat-release-7.1-1
there.

Hello. I just start to install 4-nodes RAC system using VMplayer 3. The host Operating System is Windows 7.
The Guest OS is Oracle Linux 6.2.
Because my computer's hard disk does not have enough space, I install the Guest OS Oracle Linux 6.2 into a external hard disk. But its speed is very slow. It has taken more than 24 hours by now, but still don't finish installing Oracle Linux 6.2.
Do any folk understand what's going on ? Is there any problem on Oracle Linux 6.2 ?

Actually that Linux version is not supported for 10g. You may try starting the installer as
$ ./runInstaller -ignoreSysPrereqs
BTW, not sure you won't have any problems afterwards, but it should work.

I am trying a silent install of the Oracle SOA Suite on Linus. I get the following content as the silentlog

Problem in Installing Oracle 10g on Linux Enterprise Edition RHEL 3

Hi All,
I am trying to install Oracle10g Rel 2 on RHEL 3, but the installer fails for some OS packages (rpms I think) for being of older edition like gcc etc.
Whats the workaround for this or do I need to install for a more latest Version of Red Hat linux.

Problem in Instalation of Oracle8i on Linux

Hi,
I hav downloaded the oracle8i from linux from oracle site.
Performed all the pre-configuration steps of
set env variables like PATH, ORACLE_BASE, ORACLE_HOME, ORACLE_SID and LD_ASSUME_KERNEL after connecting as oracle.
made for mount points namely /u01, /u02, /u03, /u04
made users (oinstall and oracle) and groups (oinstall, dba, etc)
as root user executed the command xhost +
after doing all this when I run the script /runInstaller it does not displays OUI.
It does not give any error, and shows a grey coloured rectangular box, and that is it.
jre process runs in the background taking more than 95% of CPU time.
plz help me on this. thanx-a-ton in adavnce.

I'm not an expert but i had the same problem when I untarred the download file and burned a CD in windows. I would suggest that you put the tar file on a CD and untar it in unix/linux
