Problems in OMS

how to connect the OMS(Oracle management Server)
i am using oracle 9i
when i try to connect the OMS, the oracle ask the following thing

I am running a pair of servers on Suse 9.3 Pro , Kernel 2.6.11.4-20a. Each has 3Gb Ram, 200Gb internal storage and 2x250Gb Ext Firewire drives. They quite happily run other things such 10gRAC on firewire, 10g R2, 10gAS and various other 9i/10g database with Dataguard (not necessarily all at the same time though - resources get a little stretched!). It was, until last week also happy running Grid R1.
I have tried most install options, including upgrading the R1 GRID. After deinstalling this, I have tried using the existing repository database (from GRID R1) and using a new database. They all end up with the same error as above. The agent only install will however succeed OK.
I have searched high and low for more details on the log4j and "No Appenders" errors including on ML, but most seem to be concentrated on using log4j in your own OC4J apps - something I know little about.

Having problems implementing OMS

Please be patient with me as I am new to Oracle,
I have not been able to configure and run OMS even though I
have followed the instructions I have found in several
locations including the OMS Configuration Guide and the Oracle
By Example Series.
I have tried running 9i Database in Windows XP Pro, Windows
2000 Pro, Windows 2000 Advanced Server, and now Windows .NET
Enterprise Server all with the same results. I have even tried
8i with the same results.
I have created a database specifically for OMS. I have run the
OEM Configuration Assistant to create my repository in that
database. I have made sure that the Database service is
running and the Database is open. I have made sure that the
Intelligent Agent service is running. I have configured a
static IP address.
The problem is that the OMS Service will not start. I don't
know if it is because OMS is not configured correctly, not
installed correctly, or is incompatible with my software or
hardware.
If anyone could point out what I have overlooked, or could
point me in the direction of a "baby-steps" kind of "how-to"
for implementing OMS, or tell me I am just plain ignorant, I
would greatly appreciate it.

After a couple of months and about 20 reinstallations I figured
it out.
When I installed Oracle 9i for the first time I tried to
install into Program Files\Oracle\Ora90 but the installer
complained that Oracle couldn't be installed into a location
that had a space in the path. So I substituted the DOS
compatible path for that directory Progra~1\Oracle\Ora90. OMS
started without a problem after I installed Oracle into a
directory without a space in it's name.

How to diagnode OMS problems

Greetings,
Over the weekend our OMS crashed and I am trying to determine the cause and have two questions.
1) I believe the emoms.log & emoms.trc files are the appropriate files to examine, is this correct?
2) Is there documentation anywhere which helps explain how to read the emoms files? There is so much information I am having difficulty determining what is relevant and what is not.
3) Are there other logs I should be looking at?

OMS log and trace files store important information that Oracle Support can later use to troubleshoot problems. OMS uses the following six types of log files:
Oracle Management Service log file (emoms.log) The Management Service saves information to the log file when it performs an action (such a starting or stopping) or when it generates an error. This is a log file for console application.
Oracle Management Service trace file (emoms.trc) OMS trace file provides an advanced method of troubleshooting that can provide support personnel with even more information about what actions the OMS was performing when a particular problem occurred. This is a trace file for Console application.
Oracle Management Service log file (emoms_pbs.log) The Management Service saves information to this log file for background modules such as the loader, job system, event system, notification system, and so on. This file contains messages logged at ERROR or WARN levels.
Oracle Management Service trace file (emoms_pbs.trc) This trace file provides additional logging for the background modules such as the loader, job system, event system, notification system, and so on when DEBUG or INFO level logging is enabled for these modules. This file can provide Support personnel with even more information about actions these modules were performing when a particular problem occurred.
Enterprise Manager Control log file (emctl.log) The information is saved to emctl.log file, when you run the Enterprise Manager Control commands. For more information about emctl.log file, see chapter Starting and Stopping Enterprise Manager Components.
Enterprise Manager Control message file (emctl.msg) This file is created by the HealthMonitor thread of the OMS when it restarts the OMS because of a critical error. This file is used for troubleshooting the OMS restart problem. It provides information such as the exact time when the OMS is restarted and which module has caused the crash.

Agent Configuration Problem

This in on an HPUX 64-bit system. I'm getting these errors during the configuration step. The install of 10.2.0.1 and Patch to 10.2.0.4 had no errors. We're not running IAS anywhere. I've confirmed that the files it says it can't find are there (right where it says it's looking). Don't know what the problem securing OMS is, trying to find other related log files....
Any help is appreciated.

Problem with agent10g upload

Hi Gurus,
I have installed Agent10g on a linux box the installation was successful and ran the root.sh, I am able to start agent successfully using emctl start agent but I could not see the host in target list of OMS. You can see the agent status below and please find the traces of emctl.trc and emagent.trc.
And the when installaing some of the things are failed, the command failed configuration was "oracle.sysman.emcp.agent.AgentPlugIn" I found this in /u01/app/oracle/OracleHomes/agent10g/cfgtoollogs/configToolFailedCommands
Please let me know the reason for my prblem and solution

thanks for your response.The repositary URL is working fine becasue I have used downloadAgent.linux script to install the agent10g on this linux box. I have used "oracle" user to install the agent and I am using oracle user to start the agent. So there is no question of acces problems as I know.
when tried to telnet from the linux box where I installed agent10g it is connecting I have used below comamnd

Nazim you asked for the emoms.trc file I looked into the trc file but I could not find anything related to the this agent upload problems other agents which are running on winows box are connected to OMS and uploading files as expected so I assume there is no problem with OMS. If you insist on seeing emoms.trc I can very well provide them.

I don't know much about this error. One thing is your OMS is not
in good shape. Configure OMS again by running the Configuration
assistant.While cinfiguring OMS, take note of these:
1. Use system/manager for the user with DBA privileges. If
system does not have SYSDBA privilege, grant them
2. For the repository user you can use any user other than SYS
or SYSTEM
Once configured, start OMS
If there is a problem , start OMS from the command line. If
there is an error, you get a detailed message here. I think for
9i the command is oemctl start oms (previously oemctrl start oms)

Starting OMS on Windows

Hi,
I can't start Oracle Management Server on a windows 2003 Server. (Oracle 9.2)
I used EMCA to create a repository for O.E.M.
I DID start the OEMREPService, the AgentService
When i try to start OMS, it seems to start, the progress bar achieved the 100%, then a popup indicates that the service started and stopped because it has nothing to do... ???

Hi were you able to fix the problem? I am also facing the same problem. OMS was running fine until I restarted the machine, then it started giving error saying that could not connect the repositarty. I checked the log files and found that it is becasue of JDBC connection probelm and it is giving Network Adapter error. I found that is because of TNS listener not started I tried to start but after starting it automatically stoped saying it has nothing to do. Can any one tell me what exactly happening?

Hi i'm receve this error to update gril control in new repository . first im install new database 11.1.0.7 and create a news database(install OMS together) . after i'm update install of grid control. i'm install a version 10.2.0.3 and make upgrade OMS for 10.2.0.5. Yes this is what I do, but still receive "Insufficient privileges to write to that location". So I am forced to use normal file system to be able to continue.

ORA-01017 error, when running Complete configuration of Maintenance Wizard

Hi Gurus,
Maintenance wizard version: 2.19 (latest)
DB: 10.2.0.1
Linux:
Upgrade assistance for R12
Im trying to complete the first step:
1-Complete configuration of Maintenance Wizard (Required)
It gives me errors:
Checking that Remote EOF_HOME is only a directory name, not a path...
ERROR:
ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied
SP2-0640: Not connected
SP2-0670: Internal number conversion failed

Yes this is what I do, but still receive "Insufficient privileges to write to that location". So I am forced to use normal file system to be able to continue.
After that I run into the current problem saying OMS configuration failed (see details....) and I try:
./opmnctl startall
opmnctl: starting opmn and all managed processes...

ORA-01017 Error when installing Grid Control 10.2.0.3

Hello all,
I have the following problem: I am installing the Grid Control on a Linux machine and when I get to the "Specify Repository Database Configuration" step and enter the SYS password I get an ORA-01017 error. I still can connect under SQLPLUS with the same pwd as SYSDBA.
Any clue how to get ride of this will be very appreciated.

Release 4 and Full Installer

Hi guys,
someone knows if will get out a Full Installer version of 10.2.0.4 Grid Release for Linux?
i've try patch installer from 10.2.0.3 to 4 but it has been disaster, there are many problems on OMS and Agents :(

sorry but i've read this note in README of 10204
patch installer:
Fresh Installation of Enterprise Manger 10g Grid
Control Release 3 and upgrading it to Release 4
In order to install Enterprise Manager 10g Grid
Control Release 4, you must install 10.2.0.3.0 Grid
Control and then upgrade it to 10.2.0.4 versionAnd I said above "Read the Install Guide that come with your download. It states the base install for each platform. They do not all have the same base install."

OMS Problem

I installed Oracle 8.1.7 Personal Edition & Started my Oracle Management Server as well. But few days back it started showing problem whenever I tried to start it. In the log file it's showing following problems including BootStrap Exception. My O/S is Windows 2000.

Problem while starting OMS (bin/emctl start oms)

Hi,
We are running oracle GC 10gr4(it's Release4 and not Release2 like below) since 1 year. It's working great, without having any problem ( even if the installation was a pain.....)
I rebooted my Linux RedHat ES4 this morning and now when im trying to start the OMS (oms10g/bin/emctl start oms) I have this short error msg:
-Unexpected error occurred. Check error and log files.
here is my first step after I rebooted the server
$ /home/oracle/grid10gr2/oms10g/opmn/bin/opmnctl startall
opmnctl: starting opmn and all managed processes...
Second Step
$ /home/oracle/grid10gr2/oms10g/bin/emctl start oms

I can start the Database well with sqlplus `/ as sysdba`
it's just that I can't start anymore the oms. I have a lot of available space. I worked all the day to fix this but i dont find any solution is someone have a clue?

Yes I just just tried the cmd and I Got:

Starting agent ........ started.
looks like the only thing that's starting is the Agent when im trying gcstartup start.

OMS and Agent Communication Problem?

I have installed OMS that have version 10.2.0.2 on windows server and Agent with version 10.1.0.4 on AIX.
Is it any problem with version of OMS and Agent?
