Problems in Permissions of Portal

Hi All,
I am facing a problem on my Portal. Currently I am using SAP Enterprise Portal 6.0. After all the required permissions have been assigned to the Roles, Worksets and IViews, the application doesn't open on the Portal. After I check the permission for the IViews, I find that the assigned permissions are reset and the entire process of assignment has to be done again, Please let me know why does this happen and also the solution for the same,
Also the role Super_admin is assigned automatically when a new portal object is created. Please let me know the reason for it and also the use of the group "everyone"
Regards,
Poojith MV

Hi,
Assign everyone role permission to parent folder "Portal Content".
Right Click "Portal Content" folder and goto Open-> Permissions -> Search for Everyone Roles and assign.
we cant assign the super admin role to all users as it exposes portal administration to all users.so we assign general everyone permission to the parent folder which will be inheritated in all the subfolders and assign this everyone permission to users, then only that specific applications will be shown for the user.
With Regards,
Laksh.

  • Problem with Application Server Portal 9.0.2.0.1.

    I have a problem with Application Server Portal and Wireless 9.0.2.0.1.
    Firstly I've installed the infrastructure on a Pentium 3 866Mhz 512Mb of Ram, with Windows 2000 Server (Italian) service pack 2.
    I've maintained all predefined settings and I've chosen the UTF8 character set.
    After installation, my infrastructure and OID works fine. The OID has port 4032 (as set by Oracle Universal Installer) instead of predefined 389.
    After this I've installed Application Server Portal and Wireless on another host: a Pentium 3 733Mhz 384Mb of Ram, with Windows 2000 Server (Italian) service pack 2.
    I've also maintained all predefined settings and automatic configuration of Portal and Wireless. I've pointed to my Infrastructure.
    Try to test the Portal demonstration but an error occurred:
    "SERVICE TEMPORARILY UNAVAILABLE. The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to maintenance downtime or capacity problems. Please try again later."
    On my EM Console I see: component instances 'OC4J_Portal' and 'OC4J_Demos' are UP, instead 'Portal:portal:7777' is down.
    On the component lists I've clicked the link of component instance Portal:portal:7777, the 'control services' and 'Accessible Server SSO' are started, while 'Accessible Portal Repository' is down.
    What can I do to get my portal started?

    hi,
    i have exactly the same problem. did you solve yours?
    any suggestions or help how to do it?
    thanks

    Your early help will be highly appreciated.
    thanks and regards
    Hassan

    You said, "...+I would like to install Release 2(11.1.1.2.0)+ ...". Be careful. 11.1.1.2.0 is not Release 2. The version for Rel 2 is 11.1.2.0, notice that there is one less "1". Also, there is no way to patch from Release 1 to Release 2.
    In EDelivery, this is what you should find if you search on "Oracle Fusion Middleware" for "Microsoft Windows x64 (64-bit)":
    First look for this link then drill into it:
    Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g Media Pack for Microsoft Windows x64 (64-bit)
    In this section you will find the following:
    This is the full product installation of FMw 11 Release 2 (Forms & Reports)
    Oracle Forms and Reports 11g R2 (11.1.2.0.0) for Microsoft Windows x64 (64-bit) V28761-01
    This is the full product installation of FMw 11 Release 1 (includes Portal, Forms, Reports, and Disco)
    Oracle Portal, Forms, Reports and Discoverer 11g (11.1.1.2.0) for Microsoft Windows x86 (64-bit) (Part 1 of 4) V18785-01
    Oracle Portal, Forms, Reports and Discoverer 11g (11.1.1.2.0) for Microsoft Windows x86 (64-bit) (Part 2 of 4)
    Oracle Portal, Forms, Reports and Discoverer 11g (11.1.1.2.0) for Microsoft Windows x86 (64-bit) (Part 3 of 4)
    Oracle Portal, Forms, Reports and Discoverer 11g (11.1.1.2.0) for Microsoft Windows x86 (64-bit) (Part 4 of 4)
    This is the FMw 11 Release 1 patch set that will bring the above 11.1.1.2.0 installation to 11.1.1.6.  This is NOT a full product installation - just a patch
    Oracle Portal, Forms, Reports and Discoverer 11g Patch Set 5 (11.1.1.6.0) for Microsoft Windows x86 (64-bit) V29850-01
    There are no patch sets for Release 2 as of yet.

  • Problem with Permissions while accessing Portal Content

    Dear All,
    Im facing some problems with the permission in accessing the portal content.
    When i right click on any of the folders in the catalog displayed under the System Administration - > System Configuration -> System Landscape -> Content directory provided by SAP . I get the following Menu options on right click -> NEW -- > Folder, Change ID, Copy, Delete.
    I dont get a option such as NEW --> System(from template) which is important to configure the ABAP ECC 6.0 System with the EP 7.0 to enable logon through  the Portal to access the ABAP  Database through Web browser.
    I have installed EP 7.0 JAVA stack alone separately and ECC 6.0 ABAP stack alone separately.
    I have tried assigning System Admin Role, Super User Role, Group as Administrators. But nothing seems to work.
    Im not sure of the roles to be assigned.
    thanks,
    Deepak

  • Problems with permissions on file-repositories

    Hello Forum,
    i'm getting confused while i'm testing the differences between the acl/w2k security managers.
    My Konfig:
    Networkpath
    filehost\ep6
    user
    domain\j2ee
                        (this user has full-access to all docs)
    then i configured 3 File-Reps, all pointing to the same share (
    filehost\ep6):
    EP6            no  security-manager
    EP6_ACL        acl security manager
    EP6_W2K        w2k security manager
                   (Portal-User mapped to the windows-User)
    I expect:
    - EP6     access to all documents
    - EP6_ACL access to documents where i have granted access to my portal user via permissions in the KM-Content
    - EP6_W2K access to documents where the mapped windows user has been granted access on the filesystem
    This is what i get:
    All three Repostories behave in the same way.
    - my Portal User can only access Files, where the
    domain\user has been granted access
    - it seems, that the assigned security-managers didn't work
    - EP6_ACL it makes no difference if i assign restrictions to the KM-ACLs
    - EP6_W2K it makes no difference if i assign permisons for my windows-user on the os
    Where is my fault.
    Do I have to deal with some caching-problems?
    Do i have to use three different Locations on the filehost?
    Thanks in advance.
    Frank Winkler

    Hi Frank,
    in the rough context, check this new paper that describes how Windows File Servers can be integrated into the SAP KM platform using SSO and the WebDAV repository manager:
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/library/kmc/integration of windows file servers into the sap km platform using sso and the webdav repository manager.pdf

  • IUser problem with com.sapportals.portal.security.usermanagement

    I am trying to get the current user so I have written
    IUser user = request.getUser();
    I have imported com.sap.security.api.*;
    The compiler insists I need com.sapportals.portal.security.usermanagement.IUser
    I thought that version was deprecated or at least not the preferred method?
    It keeps saying my classpath is incomplete. Why can't it use the IUser from the com.sap.security.api?
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Paul

    Update
    The offending line appears to be IResourceContext myContext = new ResourceContext(user);
    when this line is added it causes the above error which I can only assume is because ResourceContext(user) accepts a different kind of user object. does anyone know if there is another way to do this? Here is the rest of the code to see where i am headed:
    IUser user = req.getUser();
    RID rid = RID.getRID("/temp");
    IResourceFactory factory = ResourceFactory.getInstance();
    IUserFactory uf = UMFactory.getUserFactory();
    IResourceContext myContext = new ResourceContext(user); //this is the line causing the problems.
    IResource resource = factory.getResource(rid, myContext);
    if(resource.isCollection())
    ICollection collection = (ICollection)resource;
    IResourceList children = collection.getChildren();
    Iterator i = children.listIterator();
    the point is i am trying to get the ACL permissions on the children of the rid

  • Permissions in portal

    Hi All,
    Below is my project requirement
    Once a user logs on to the portal Lets say that he will see a role  "ROLE1"
    Once he clicks on this "ROLE1" then he will see a folder structure in the deatiled navigation
    Lets say that there are around three folders
    FOLDER1,FOLDER2,FOLDER3
    Once he expands the folders he will see two iviews(iviwe1,iveiw2)
    Once he clicks on first iview1 he will be able to view the documents which are uploaded using ivew2.
    I am able to do this perfectly
    My,problem is that who ever the user has been assinged with "ROLE1" must only be able to view the documents but he will not be given the permission to upload the documents only adminstartor must have the permission to upload the documents
    Can anyone help me out how to restrict the user from uploading the documents...
    thanks in advance

    Hi,
    You can change the permissions given to the users to access a particular portal content.
    Go to System Administration -> Permissions. Open your ivew and change the permissions accordingly.
    Regards,
    Becky.

  • Problem of Query in Portal (web template)

    Hi BWs experts,
    I have a problem with a query.
    I'm working on BI7 (BI java patch 12 and BI  abap pacth 14).
    The query is good working in BEx Analyzer.
    Bus when  I execute it in a portal like a web template, it doesn't work. The following error occurs :
    Begin of message error

    In the default values (= filter) I'm using a variable for a characteristic C. If I delete this default value in query designer, the query works in portal. If i put a filter (constant or variable) to this characteristic C, the query bugs in portal.
    So I don't know why it doesn't work.
    I hope you can help me to resolve this problem.
    Points will be assigned.
    Best cheers,
    Vince.

    hi,
    we're now getting the same message although that is after applying the java patch 12.
    what exactly was the problem with the info-object? and what did you do to fix it?

  • Problem with ESS in portal

    Hello experts!
    I would appreciate a little help from you.
    We have configured recently ESS in our portal. The problem arised since that.
    We detected that all the connections between our portal and the gateway of the backend is all concentrated in the central instance.
    Let me explain you. Imagine a user logs in to the application server 1 (app1) of the portal. He makes something in ESS and we detect that the connection to the backend (erp) is not made through the application server. In fact, we appreciate that this connection goes through the central instance.
    JCo connection are load balanced. The problem seems to be in another configuration.
    As you can understand, as ESS gives a lot of workload to the system, and since it is being processed centrally in central instance, we're having a lot of performance issues (regarding cpu bottleneck) in central instance. The other 4 applications servers are just with a 10% CPU load.
    Could you help us please so that the requests from the application servers to the backend don't have to be processed in the central instance?
    regards,
    Filipe Vasconcelos

    Makes sure you SYSTEM object connections and JCO destinations are load balanced. That's your "links" to the backend. If that all checks, make sure your load balancer is actually set to do as you are expecting. I say this because in a past project, we had an issue like this but it was becuase the load balancer was actually sending all traffic to one server instead of dispersing the load.

  • Problem using iframe in portal

    Hi,
    I've used iframe in oracle portal. In a jsp, i gave the link as
    <iframe src ="<%=actionURL%>" width="50%"></iframe>
    There the actionURL will take the action to another jsp.Its like a jsp having another jsp. But there I need to fetch some values from database. Thats why i gave the url of an action instead of a jsp.
    In the jsp, i'm getting the PortletRenderRequest as null. But i need that request there to perform some opertaion. How to avoid this problem.
    Any help highly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Venky.

    Venky,
    perhaps you would be better off creating a portlet view on your JSP and integrating it as a portlet into Oracle Portal?
    Cheers,
    Mick.

  • Problem with users in portal - login conflict with LDAP.

    Hi.
    Let me describe our problem:
    We've a EP5 portal with LDAP conected to a central LDAP server, users access with the same user and password to all the different systems.
    The problem happens to users who have theyr passwords expired. We already set to 0 the password expiration days to avoid future problems but that didn't applied to the already expired ones.
    This affected users cannot change the password due to problems with the connection rights to LDAP server.
    We're trying to find the place there it's set that the user is in some kind of "password expired" status, directly in a database table if neccesary, to change the status manually, as system does not allow os to set it by user administration in portal.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    I had done the fallowing things with the Stnadard SUPER ADMIN USER
    1.created a system object for production server with fallowing parameters..
    <b>CONNECTOR</b>
    Application Host (server name )
    Gateway Host ( server name )
    Logical system Name  XXX
    RemoteHost Type  3
    SAP client   900
    SAP sytem ID  ECP
    SAP Sytem Number  00
    Server Port  3200
    System type   R/3
    <b>USER MANAGMENT</b>
    Logon Method  UIDPW
    User Mapping type  Admin, user
    <b>WEB APPLICATION SERVER</b>
    WAS Host name   (server name:8001)
    WAS Path            /sap/bc/bsp/sap
    Protocol                Http
    <b>ITS server</b>
    WAS Host name   (server name:8001)
    WAS Path            /sap/bc/gui/sap/its/webgui
    Protocol                Http
    Results
    1. The system ID is valid
    2. Retrieval of the system was successful
    3. The system object represents an SAP system
    4. The following parameters are valid: WAS Protocol (http) WAS Host Name (sakataep04:8001)
    5. HTTP/S connection successful
    Results
    1. The system ID is valid
    2. Retrieval of the system was successful
    3. Retrieval of the default alias was successful
    4. The system object represents an SAP system
    5. The following parameters are valid: ITS Protocol (http) ITS Host Name (sakataep04:8001)
    6. User mapping is valid
    7. HTTP/S connection successful
    2.activated ITS services for both  <b>EP WAS</b> and <b>Production server</b>  successfully and the URLs  are also working fine.As i am using integrated ITS
    i checked with the fallowing URL.
    http://server:port/sap/bc/gui/sap/its/webgui
    It had shown the screen of SAP WEB Application Server with portal SID and asking for credentials. after proving the credentials its shown SAP screen successfully.
    My aim is to make use of SAPGUI for HTML in the place of SAPGUI for WINDOWS.
    Now i had changed SAPGUI for HTML in transactional IVew and getting the same screen succesfully. as it ask for SAP user Id pwd. i had entered the same credentials wat i had entred earlier during the test. Now its showing an error like
    <b>Client, name, or password is not correct; log on again .</b>
    For your information we had setup the UME data source as AS ABAP.and  had face the problem of creating users from portal identity mangement. so created the users from WAS directly. But any ways right now  i am working with  the superadmin user only.
    what could be the problem ?why its not working in portal while working fine with URL ?

  • Problem with permissions after NOT installing 10.5.3

    A few weeks ago when Software Update asked me if I wanted to install 10.5.3 I said no, since I wanted to wait for a while to see if there were any problems first before I went ahead with it. According to Software Update, 10.5.3 has been downloaded on my computer, but not installed, although I can't find it anywhere.
    Ever since then things have been getting increasingly weird. I thought I had most of the problems solved after booting from the Leopard disk and repairing ACLs and permissions. However, after I shut my computer down for the night, and rebooted the next morning, all my problems were back and a few new ones. Now I have to log in each time I reboot the computer. I have to log in each time I open Mail. I can't unlock anything. I click the lock and nothing happens. Time Machine has stopped working again and is no longer backing up my data. When I click on "Get Info" for my HDs or apps, Sharing and Permissions says I have custom access - all the rest is greyed out, and I can't unlock anything. I seem to have lost permission to make any changes! Very frustrating!
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Yes, I can access the Time Machine application.
    Following up on your previous suggestion, even though I'm listed as admin in the Accounts pane, I thought it was worth a shot, so I followed the steps set out in the Apple article TS1278: "Mac OS X 10.5: Administrator user changes to standard".
    After booting from my Install DVD, and resetting the password for the System Administrator (root), I restarted from my Mac, selected "Other" in the login window, and tried to log in as System Administrator (root) with the password I'd chosen, but it wouldn't log me in. All that happened was the login window trembled a bit, then cleared, and that was that. I tried a number of times, with the same result. Do you have any idea what I can do to correct that? Because it sounded like the process described in this article could very well fix my permissions problems.
    Thanks for your help.
