Problems in Vista x64

Hi
I have problem with crashes in Vista x64. I was blaming nvidia but removing my SB Fatalty card solves my problem.
What happens: When enabling SLI , sound crashes in games. Even without playing I get BSOD at boot (ramdom) this is ONLY when enabling SLI
Anyone had similar problem
My system:
q6600, XFX 780i mobo, 4x2GB Muskin, 2x WD Veloraptors raid0, 2x 8800GTS 320mb, Supernova kW PSU, SB Fatalty

Proxie_dk,
Also,
You might want to make sure that you have done the following to try and help resolve or workaround the problem more:
Make sure you have set the correct timinns and voltages for Mushkin memory in BIOS, more information at Mushkin website under support.
Make sure you have the latest version of the BIOS for your motherboard, as several manufacturers did release updates for the problems with NVIDIA and Creative compatability. Look at support section on the XFX support site.
Make sure you are using the latest motherboard chipset drivers available from NVIDIA. 5.25 is the latest, and the international package is here.
Make sure you are using the latest graphics drivers available from NVIDIA. 86.8 is the latest, and the international package is here.
Also, perhaps not as important as the above, make sure you have the latest Windows Updates installed using Microsoft Update.

  • T61 - problem with Vista x64 NVS 140M drivers

    Hi!
I have problems with Vista x64 and NVS 140M drivers. Thing is that if I install them, everything will be slideshow, even the audio shutters quite bad and CPU is constantly over 45%. I have tried different driver versions but nothing has helped yet. Any ideas?
I wonder if anyone has the old 7.15.11.0129 driver and could send it to me? Maybe that would help.

    Try the following test:
    - Go to Vista Sound Control Panel to view the S/PDIF out properties.
    - Click on the Supported Format tab page, select Dolby Digital and click Test.
    Is the test OK?

  • Problem with Vista x64 and Audible in iTunes

I've made a clean install of Vista x64.
Installed iTunes and started it off reloading my music. When it came to .aa files from Audible it prompted me for my audible login - which I gave. It then rejected my login and skipped all my audible stuff.
I've now tried several times to completely wipe iTunes from my system and reinstall it (even tracking down all the config stuff it installs and doesn't remove on removal) and still have no luck. I've also tried the vista permissions fix.
Problem is iTunes seems to think it's authorized on Audible as I have a 'DeAuthorize Audible account' option under advanced. If I enter my login under this, or when prompted when trying to add an Audible file I get a "Could not authorize this computer because an error occurred (-44012)" error message.
Anybody have any clue about this, because google hasn't.

I believe that's just to fix permissions if you can't play back music you've purchased from the music store.
I did try running it anyway, just to see if it made any difference, it didn't.

bq. If you go to to tahiti.oracle.com you can drill down to the complete doc set for your selected product. At that point you will be able to read the relevent installation guide, which will clearly state all prerequisites, including certified OS. This will also put you in the middle of all of the other documentation you will need. FWIW, by doing that myself, I see this in the installation guide for 11.1: \\ Oracle Database for 32-bit Windows is supported on the following operating systems:
    * Windows 2000 with Service Pack 1 or later. All editions, including \\ Terminal Services and Microsoft Windows 2000 MultiLanguage Edition \\ (MLE), are supported.* Windows Server 2003 - all editions* Windows Server 2003 R2 - all editions* Windows XP Professional* Windows Vista - Business, Enterprise, and Ultimate editionsWindows NT is not supported.

  • Problems Installing CS3 Web Premium on Windows Vista x64

I was (key word) having problems with my installation of CS3 on my brand new (3 days old) computer with Windows Vista x64. Finally after two days of installing and uninstalling, I called Adobe support. I was pleasantly surprised with how quickly they solved my problem (if only I had called sooner).
Having worked on this for 2 days I have seen and tried everything except of course the cure. So I wanted to put this out there for any one else that is having problems.
    The symptoms:
    - Everything seemed to install correctly (except acrobat which is another story. you can find lots of post about that.). No errors during installation. And when it finally completed installing, all that was left was to click "finish" which indicated to me that installation was successful.
    - Open Photoshop. PS would open and immediately stop working. Vista said it was not responding.
    - Open any of the other programs and the little vista circle would spin for 5 to 10 seconds then nothing. Program did not start to open. Just nothing.
The problem: Unbeknown to me (never saw an error message) "Licensing for this product had stopped working". When I described above symptoms tech support went straight to this.
The solution: Download the Licensing Service Update and run it. http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb401528
Once I ran this, Photoshop opened and let me enter serial number and activate CS3.
If after your installation, Photoshop or any of the other programs seem to get stuck or you never get the dialog box to enter serial number, the Licensing Service Update should fix things for you.

wow...thank you so much for this posting. I just got home & followed your steps and now I have CS3 up & running. After 4 days of stressing out, finally someone was able to assist. Why can't the Adobe Experts & Employees on these forums supply this much needed information?????
I seriously understand why people want to get crack versions of this software rather than paying hundreds of dollars like us and avoid all this BS and get no support whatsoever!
    Thank you again!!

  • Acrobat 8.1.5 on Vista x64 problem with PDF Printer

    Hi all
Forgive me if this is a newbie question... I *tried* to get direct support from Adobe and they spent the time telling me my support had "expired" rather than answer the question... nice... so thought maybe someone knows the answer.
I have the latest version of Acrobat 8 on Vista x64.  Anytime I use the "Adobe PDF" printer to print direct to PDF from an application, the PDF gets produced OK, however the print spooler for this printer retains a print job with status "Error - Printing".
The only way I can remove the job is to do it manually and a lot of times I have to Cancel it twice for it to work.
Any ideas how I can stop this from happening?
    Thanks
    Steve

Thanks... will give that a try and report back...
Reporting back... nope it did not fix the problem.  But the repair process did damage the install of Acronis True Image so that it wouldn't load... I did a Repair of that install too and at least now I am back to where I was...
Appreciate the help.  Anyone else have other suggestions?

  • GX 720 Vista x64 Problem

1st I would like to thank you for all the help you provided.
I have another question:Did someone install Vista x64 on the laptop gx720 . I get the same problem as 2 more guys on the forum. It freeze on the Log screen. Xp x32 and x64 is working OK
Did someone install Windows 7 x64 on the GX720 ?

I've no problems running Vista 64 on my GX720. With a proper install it should boot into Vista just fine. To get full
functionality you need to then install all necessary 64 bit drivers. Before installing Vista 64 I downloaded all the
drivers from MSI here - http://www.msi.com/index.php?func=downloaddetail&type=driver&maincat_no=135&prod_no=1521.
I then burned the drivers to a disk for installing after the Vista OS install. On the MSI driver download page they
only state the drivers as being 32 bit but the 64 bit drivers are in fact included. I did though have to install the
graphics drivers from the driver disk that came with my GX720-032US to get the Nvidia 9600 working, otherwise
it was just running generic graphics. You basically just need to put your driver disk in,go to device manager &
click on every device that has a  ?  & update the drivers from the disk. Just point it to look for them on the disk
& it will find & install the proper drivers. It may be that all the drivers on the driver disk that came with the laptop
also have the 64 bit version included but I downloaded from MSI anyway figuring they may be more up to date.

  • New topic on old problem - MacBook Pro Late'08 + Vista x64 Freeze

    Hi All,
I read many topics on freezes and have not found the solution. People are re-installing WiFi drivers and are solving problem with lags for audio.
    I've Vista x64 SP1 installed + Bootcamp + multitouch drivers from Apple.
When I use Standard VGA drivers - system works well (not 1-2 hours, but as much as I need - up to 2 days uptime). But when I use ANY nVidia driver (modded or no) I could get freeze after 30 minutes or after 3 hours.
    But I'm missing Aero + stand-by features.
So - had anybody found nVidia driver that is not crashing system?
As I understand WiFi driver is working well, because with standard video driver there are no crashes/freezes at all.

Download the latest official driver from NVidia and use an application called RIVATUNER to force a fixed performance level of "low-power 3D".
That keeps the NVidia driver from switching clock-rates and voltages dynamically and thus prevents three problems:
    1. Constantly changing voltages and thus power-draw from the battery/PSU and mainboard components. This should help stability.
    2. Audio dropouts (and likely other drivers and processes dropouts as well) due to extreme DPC spikes whenever clock-rates are switched.
    3. Possible audio dropouts (and likely other drivers and processes dropouts as well) due to too low GPU memory clock-rates in 2D mode.
Just to clarify that, even when you are only working in 2D the NVidia drivers keeps switching performance-levels/clock-rates up and down according to what it thinks is necessary. Sometimes just opening a web-page with video content can lead to the GPU switching to performance-3D (maximum voltage and heat) just to have it clock down over several steps again (each time producing a huge DPC Latency spike).
The Microsoft Standard VGA Driver runs at constant clock-rates, thus it's less susceptible to stability and performance problems.
I am using a Latebook 2.8 Ghz with Vista 64 myself here. Can you give any hints on how to reproduce a freeze (like any specific load/software)?

  • [Vista x64] Microphone problems with X-Fi and 2.15 drive

Hi guys,?I'm having a problem with the 2.5 drivers on my X-Fi Platinum card, under Vista x64. It seems the microphone inputs (both on the card and on the breakout box) have problems, any recordings stutter and pop rapidly, making any recordings (or voice chat)?quite useless. This issue doesn't occur with the 2.3 drivers. Is there any known solution to this problem yet?My system: e6600 CPU, Asus P5W-DH motherboard (975X chipset), 4GB RAM, 8800GTX, X-Fi Platinum. Thanks.

    hey Darkman,
since I never had this problem with installing this software, I cant really tell whats wrong, but you dont need it anyway to use the x-fi.
but you may want to try one thing, since it crashes at 27% something may still be in use, so check your task manager and close everything that has CT in its name. then try reinstalling again. If that still doesnt work, try to empty your temp folder, its located in documents and settings/user you are/local settings/temp
if that still doesnt work, try maybe something stupid, wait a bit longer than usual and keep the install window in the front to watch the process, maybe your pc is just a bit slowed down by other software so it may take longer than normal

  • Vista x64, CMSS, and Distortion Problems with Audigy Z

I have an Audigy ZS 2 Plantinum, and I recently upgraded from XP x86 to Vista x64. With XP, I had no problems with the most recent drivers. I used CMSS-3D to output to all my speakers, mainly to make my music sound better when I played it (so it surrounded me, not just in front, even though its just Stereo).
Well, after trying to install the drivers for Vista x64 and having a ton of difficulties getting it to even set to 5. speakers, whenever I have CMSS turned on, sounds within programs are scratchy/distorted (such as Aol Instant Messenger). Music is fine (I use MediaMonkey), and those sound .wav's from programs play fine when opened on their own in MM or WMP. When I turn CMSS off, there is no distortion.
Does anyone have a solution for this I would like to have music played through all my speakers, but I am always using other programs when listening to music and I don't want their sounds to be distorted.

If anyone else is having similar problems: For me it seems to be an incompatibility between Creative Audigy 2 ZS drivers and Philips amBX set drivers. I've started a thread on the amBX forums : http://ambx.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=3797
I still need help to fix these problems.

  • P6N diamond - Vista x64 install problem

    Hey.
I’m the happy owner of a MSI P6N Diamond, but I have some problems when I try to install Vista.
My system as it is now:
    CPU: E6600
    GFX: 7900GT
    RAM: 2x1gb Cell Shock PC6400
Running XP SP2 without problems on 2x36gb raptors in RAID0
Yesterday I decided to try Vista x64, because I have 2gb extra ram that I want to use. So I took one of my old IBM PATA 120gb HDDs, and tried to install vista x64, but then I ran into a problem. When I get to the point where it says "Completing Installation" and "Your Computer will restart several times during installation" It restarts but then nothing happens. The screen just went black (and the monitor is switching off), and I can hear the computer is still running (and there is still light in mouse and keyboard). If I try to restart, the the vista loading bar appears and then the same thing happens. Black screen and then nothing.
    What to do?
I have tried disconnecting all my other drives and I have tried with only one memory block (1gb)
    Hope somebody can help me
    /Christian

    Inside,
I had similar issues when I first installed Vista and I don't think it installed correctly as it is...
One thing I noticed was that the Memory in particular is undervolted with this board if the bios is set to auto. Make sure you manually set the voltage to your RAM manufacturers voltage. Do the same thing with the timings and speed...
I had everything set to auto at first and I couldn't even get Vista to unpack 100% until I manually set things...
I need to reinstall windows I think because my installation is still messed up as I didn't change the timings until I started getting BSOD on first boot... Try it let us know if it works.

  • Vista x64 and PCIe X-Fi Titanium Optical Problems

I am running Vista x64 SP and I have the 2.7.0004 drivers installed and when I try to use Dolby Li've or DTS, I can't use because everything says the current device is in use. I can't get optical to work with my Z-5500 speakers. It works fine on my XP SP3 though. I have dual boot XP/Vista x64.
    E8400
    ASUS Rampage Formula
    4GB DDR 066MHz
    HIS ATI HD4870
    X-Fi Titanium
    XP-32bit SP3/Vista Ultimate-64
    Logitech Z-5500

something else to check even tho you maby already have done is checking if the checkboxes for full controll of the SPDIF is on in windows 7 (I dont know anything about 2008 so cant comment on that) but i know that that 2 checkboxes need to be checked for the digital sound to pass trough to the analog 6 channel wich is needed for your speakers.
just to be clear were talking about the same checkboxes as im not sure how its called in english exactly.
in windows 7 in the lower right? rightclick ont eh speaker and select playback devices
then select SPDIF out and select properties.
then go to advanced and make sure both checkboxes under exclusi've mode are checked.
from my experience it also highly depends on what program you use as not all movie/mediaplayers decode the digital signal to 6 channel analog correctly.
i myself prefer classic media player and in that program i had to rightclick the screen select the audio options and set to to decode to speakers from spdif.
i not sure how exactly your setup is set up but i know figuring out how everything should be set or even finding some settings is a massi've pain.

  • PROBLEM RESOLVED: SATA RAID Vista x64 Driver Errors on P45 Platinum

I have installed 5 WD 640GB SATA drives on my P45 Platinum PC build. Using the Intel Matrix Storage BIOS program, I configured them as RAID 0 (480 GB) and RAID 5 (2 TB) volumes.
Now I am trying to install Vista (x64)--as expected, the Windows installer prompts me for a RAID driver floppy. I have downloaded the latest ICH10R drivers from the MSI Website and copied them to a USB key--the installer detects the drivers on the key but when I click Next, I get the following error message: "No new devices could be found. make sure the driver files are correct and loaded on the driver installation media."
Can anybody help--I'm fresh out of ideas?
The P45 Platinum board is a rev 1.1. I have not flashed the BIOS so I suspect that it is v1.0 but am not sure how to confirm this.

Quote from: Jack the Newbie on 30-October-08, 17:39:54
When one of the board's controllers is set to RAID mode, it does not even matter if there are actually hard drivers connected to it, or not.  Vista is not attempting to locate a RAID volume but simply needs proper drivers to be able to initialize the controller.
OK, makes sense. So when Vista was prompting me for drivers it was actually looking for the JMicron RAID drivers NOT the Intel RAID drivers. When I tried to install the Intel RAID drivers it--naturally--gave an error message.
It seems that it is no longer necessary to install Intel RAID drivers when you install Vista as these are already available to the OS (must be on the DVD).
