Problems Installation OEM 12c on Oracle Linux 6.3 64Bit
Hi
I am seeing the following messages in the logs during installation, it happens when it gets to 20%

All the checks are successfull and I don't understand why its trying to copy from "/", is it a bug ? I am instlling it as oracle user, I don't get any errors on the installation screen but it gets stuck at 20% and nothing happens afterwards
Thanks for your help.

I moved the the software to a different directory and it worked - strange enough !

Problems installing OEM Cloud control 12c in Oracle Linux 6.X
Hi
I'm triying to install Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud 12c in a Oracle Linux 6.4
Looking at the installation documentation in in http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E24628_01/install.121/e22624/preinstall_req_packages.htm#CHDEJAFA it sys that I need the packages :
glibc-devel-2.5-49-i686 (This is a 32-bit package)
glibc-devel-2.5-49-x86_64 (This is a 64-bit package)
But I cant find them in the yum repositories.
If I query to my linux wihch version of glibc-devel are installed the output is
[root@emc tmp]# rpm -qa |grep glibc-devel
glibc-devel-2.12-1.107.el6.x86_64
And if i try to install it i receive an error compiling ins_sqlplus.mk due to ld because it can't find crt1.o
Can anybody help me?
thanksWhat is the version of EM that you are trying to Install? Is it 12.1.0.1 EM ?
a) If this is em 12.1.0.1 then its a know issues to us which is fixed in next release ( you can refer bug:13833746 from MOS or open an SR to get more detail on this bug)
Run this below to make usre you have the packages.
# rpm -qa --queryformat "%{NAME}-%{VERSION}-%{RELEASE}(%{ARCH})\n" | grep glibc-dev
glibc-devel-2.12-1.80.el6(i686)
glibc-devel-2.12-1.80.el6(x86_64)
Checking the pre-requisites step fails as it is looking for i386 instead of i686. (On OEL6, prefix i686 denotes the 32 bit package - and not i386). If the 32 bit and 64 bit glibc-devel packages are present on the system ( check it manually) this Warning can be safely Ignored. Continue with the installation. If you are not sure, pls log an SR with Oracle support and they will help you. Donot ignore the warning in case of any doubts, work with support to get it solved. If you ignore the warning and packages are not on the host then you will get linking error during the install.
b) If this is em 12.1.0.2, pls log an SR and send me the SR number.

Error installing OEM 12 in Oracle Linux x86 32bit-Error Starting EMGC_OMS1
Dear all.
I've got a issue that I'm not able to figure out what's going on anymore. I'm preparing a new server to be the Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c Server. I've installed Oracle Database 11g Enterprise, 11g Grid Infrastructure, create a database (SID=oem12rep) using +ASM instance to the disks. Now I'm trying to install OEM 12c and when the installer gets 89% done, I'm stuck in Start OMS process. I don't undestand much about Weblogic but when I have a look to the logs I can see the message "Error Starting server EMGC_OMS1: weblogic.nodemanager.NMException: Exception while starting server 'EMGC_OMS1'" and then the process fails with the message "timed out waiting for EMGC_OMS1 to be RUNNING".
My server:
Oracle Enterprise Linux 5 Update 7
Database: Oracle Enterprise Edition 11g
Grid Infrastructure: 11g
Could anyone please help me with this issue? The logs I have are:

Thanks in advance
Bruno PalmaSo ...
After a lot of searches, it was necessary a help from a Weblogic Administrator to find out what was going on with the installation process. The problem was with the memory allocation to the Weblogic VM. The process EMGC_OMS1 could not be started cos it was not possible to create a VM into SERVERADMIN.
With just my DB experience I could not find any logs besides emctl.log and that one that it's shown in OEM Installler interface. The Weblogic Administrator was browsing the HOME where the Weblogic was installed and he found logs that showed the error telling where the problem was. Even downloading the OEM 12c 32bit, it was allocated memory to the java as if it was 64bit. The solution was decreasing the values of memory and clicking in Retry. So, my OEM Cloud Control 12c it's working now.

New installation woes - SQLDeveloper on Oracle Linux x64 and Oracle 11g XE
Note that as an experienced Oracle developer in enterprise environments running MS Windows OS, I am familiar with SQLDeveloper for Windows. I don't have a lot of experience with Linux however. I don't find it intimidating, I just don't have a lot of accumulated knowledge.
I have recently been trying to set up a development environment on my Windows7 Professional x64 laptop.
1. Installed Oracle VBox
2. Installed Oracle Linux 5.2 inside the VBox (because Oracle 11g XE is not certified on 64 bit Windows, needed to go with a Linux OS)
3. Installed Oracle DB 11.2 XE
4. Installed JDK as instructed in the SQLDeveloper release notes for Linux x64
5. Installed SQLDeveloper 3.1.07.42-1
No apparent issues with any of the installations.
Problem : I can run SQL Plus from the command line, but when I click on the icon for SQLDeveloper, nothing happens. No error messages, nothing else.
Question #1 : Unsure how to debug/troubleshoot this. Will read through the installation and release notes for SQLDeveloper, but any suggestions would be welcome.
Question #2 : Could this be due to an issue with the JDK installation? It appeared to be successful (no obvious issues) but I can't see anything in the Oracle Linux menu system that tells me the JDK was installed successfully. How can I confirm that the JDK installation was successful?
Edited by: Peter Hartgerink on Jun 19, 2012 9:12 AM>
The Linux x64 version of SQLDeveloper doesn't come bundled with JDK. There is a version of JDK recommended, with an advisory to install it before installing SQLDeveloper. This I did, with apparent success. I guess I'll have to install the JDK again and check my Java versions afterwards. Thanks.
>
I don't know what JDK you downloaded since you didn't say. What version was it? Post the link.
I find it hard to believe that the JDK version recommended was 1.4.2 since that is an ANCIENT version of Java, you have to hunt to even find it for download and most importantly the sql developer main download page clearly announces what version of Java is needed.

JDK Support
Oracle SQL Developer 3.1 is shipped with JDK1.6.0_11. However, you can connect to and use any JDK 1.6.0_11 or above. To use an existing JDK, download the zip files listed below "with JDK already installed."
>
As you can see you need JDK 1.6.0_11 or above.
If the version you say was recommended was actually 1.4.2 then that is an error; post the details so the developers can get that error fixed.
I don't know what is on your system and can only go by the information you provide
>
4. Installed JDK as instructed in the SQLDeveloper release notes for Linux x64
java version "1.4.2"
>
You either downloaded version 1.4.2, which seems unlikely, or your Linux included 1.4.2 and it is being used when you try to launch sql developer.
Perhaps your system now has multiple versions of Java on it but the version being used by sql developer is the wrong one. If so that is the issue you need to resolve. -
Oracle Linux 6.2 64bit install problem
Hi all,
I had a installation problem of 64bit Oracle Linux 6.2 with HP proliant dl380 g7 (build-in P410i array controller),
when i try to install the OS, it will keep in black screen after loading the vmlinuz.
I had try the 5.8 32bit version it can pass the vmlinuz.
So, I guess it may be related to driver.
Does any one can help me fix this problem.
thanks,
KennyI suggest to try the following:
When the bootloader screen prompts you to press any key to enter the menu... press any key.
Move the cursor to your default Linux kernel, normally Oracle Linux UEK and press the letter 'e'.
Move the cursor down 1 line to the kernel parameter and press the letter 'e' again.
Add the word "nomodset".
If you want to see more details, remove "rhgb quiet"
Press the Enter key when done
Press the letter 'b' to boot the system
If all works, edit /etc/grub.conf and modify the kernel parameter line for a permanent change. -
Problem on Installing RAC System - Oracle Linux 6.2 and 11gR2
Folks,
Hello. I just start to install 4-nodes RAC system using VMplayer 3. The host Operating System is Windows 7.
The Guest OS is Oracle Linux 6.2.
Because my computer's hard disk does not have enough space, I install the Guest OS Oracle Linux 6.2 into a external hard disk. But its speed is very slow. It has taken more than 24 hours by now, but still don't finish installing Oracle Linux 6.2.
Do any folk understand what's going on ? Is there any problem on Oracle Linux 6.2 ?user8860348 wrote:

Hi,
When we install Acroread 32 bit on oracle linux 6.1 64 bit vm's losing access to VNC console, seeing just black screen in console. I think 32 bit libraries is causing the issue. I would like to know if 64 bit Acroread is available to install on Oracle linux 6.1 64 bit vm's. We are using Oracle Application for printing pdf files which used acroread to open pdf files. Please suggest on this.

Oracle Linux: Probleme mit Paketinstallation
Hallo,
Weiß jemand, was ich falsch mache?
KieselHallo,
please note this is an English Forum. I'll give you a quick hint in German, in the hope to get you started.

Hi all,
We are in the process of building our new enterprise environment and tried to install the following:
Oracle Linux 6.0
Grid Infrastructure 11.2.0.2
ASM
OCFS2
Oracle RDBMS 11.2.0.2
Installation of Grid Infrastructure failed on Oracle Linux 6.0 and 5.6 as well. Is it because it's not yet certified for these Oracle Linux versions? Where can we find compatibility matrixes or certification information to find out which versions do work together? Been trying to find them with no success.
Thanks for any help!Dude wrote:
I have recently installed Oracle 11.2.0.2 including ASM, which also installs Grid infrastructure under Oracle Linux 5.6 (default UEK kernel) without any problems. I installed the oracle-validated package prior to the Oracle installation.OEL 5.6 and 11.2..02 Grid Infrastructure installation (for x86_64) failed in our case. Have opened a SR several weeks ago for it, but no resolution. We since reverted back to OEL 5.5 for building and running this specific RAC.
There's also errors in OEL 5.6's Infiniband s/w stack. The openibd service fails to apply errata correctly because the o/s command used has since changed command line parameters. My guess is that testing happened solely on new h/w where this errata did not have to be applied, thus were not tested. Also, this service failed to start the srp_daemon (is critical for making sure that the storage layer works each and every time and does not cause stale connections that lead to command rejections from the storage server after a reboot of a RAC node)
I not only had to fix the openibd service to correctly apply the errata, but also write a separate srpd service that dealt with starting up and shutting down the srp_daemon.
Not very impressed with OEL 5.6 at all and it will be unlikely that we'll use it. And it raises a lot of concern whether OEL 6 would be a robust enough o/s for running our RAC systems. -
Install Oracle eBusiness 12 on Oracle Linux 5.7
Hi All,
My name is John and I have some questions in relation to the installation of Oracle eBusiness 12 on Oracle Linusx 5.7 64bit. Here is what I've done so far:
- I installed Window 7 on my Macbook Pro Retina Display using Boot camp.
- I installed VMware Player 5.00 on the Window 7 host.
- I installed Oracle Linux 5.7 64bit Guest in the VMware Player 5.00
- I performed 'yum update' on the Oracle Linux 5.7 Guest
- When I ran 'uname -r' it returned '2.6.32-300.39.1.el5uek'
- I updated the latest Rapid Install patch as described in Oracle Applications Release Notes, Release 12.1.1 (My Oracle Support Document 798258.1) and now the RapidWizVersion returned is 12.1.1.13.
My question is in Moc 761566.1, it stated that the following packages must be installed from the Oracle Linux 5 or RHEL 5 distribution media on both application and database tiers:
•gcc-4.1.2-14.el5.x86_64
•gcc-c++-4.1.2-14.el5.x86_64

Since I'm not a Linux guru so I just ran a 'rpm -qa > all_rpm.txt' and open that output file and find whether I have all of those above installed rpms before installing Oracle eBusiness Suite.
First, I discovered that I do not have any 'gcc-c++-4.1.2-14.el5.x86_64' rpm installed on my Linux 5.7 64 bit guest system. Could you please advise how do I install this particular rpm because I thought after running the 'yum update' command, it would already have installed this rpm (gcc-c++-4.1.2-14.el5.x86_64) for me.
Also, is there any 'pre-test' that I can carry out to ensure that the Oracle eBusiness installation would be successful. Because in the past, I have attempted to install Oracle eBusiness twice but on both occasions, they have failed miserably with the Linux just hung and I have to perform the whole process again. Thank you for your assistance as I really want to have it installed on my Mac Book Pro successfully.
Regards,
JohnHi Hussein,
Thank you for the quick reply but here were that results when I followed your suggestion and I believe none of three have worked successfully and can you advise what I've done wrong or what I've forgotten to do, thank you for your assistance.

package-cleanup --dupes
rpm -Va nofiles nodigest
The program package-cleanup is found in the yum-utils package.

Installing Oracle Linux 5.8 on Virtual Box
I'm trying to install Oracle Linux 5.8 on Virtual Box. I have downloaded V31120-01 and burned to the DVD, I think successfully.
However, when I start the Virtual machine, I get the Opening screen, "Oracle Linux" the little picture of the penguin guy, etc, so I think my DVD is good.
The screen says, "To install or upgrade in graphical mode, press the <enter> key." So I do.
Several lines of text flow across the screen, but then the process seems to stop with no prompt on what to do next or any indication that an error has occurred, it just stops.
The last lines I can see are:
ACPI: bus type pci registered
PCI: Using configuration type 1
ACPI: Interpreter enabled
ACPI: Using PIC for interrupt routing
ACPI: No dock devices found
ACPI: PCI Root Bridge [PCI0] (0000:00)

I'm not sure if it's waiting for some input from me, or if there is a problem, but nothing happens beyond this point until I power down the virtual machine. There is no need to burn a DVD because Virtualbox can directly mount and boot from the .iso image you downloaded. It is usually a good idea to check the md5 checksum of your download with the number provided by the download page to verify your download is not corrupted. There are no problems installing any version of Oracle Linux under Virtualbox provided you have the right hardware. I suggest to check the Virtualbox documentation.
Note: This is not a Virtualbox forum.
