Problems Installing After Effects CS6

I'm trying to install After Effects CS6 and it gets to 18% and just hangs there, I have tried about 6 times and it still hangs there.
Can anybody help me please?

turn off antivirus/antimalware and run the install file as an administrator.
if that fails run the cleaner, http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html
restart your computer
reinstall

Unistall any ACR Betas on your system you may have used. Also simply run the Creative Suite Cleaner Tool and reinstall everything Adobe.

Trouble installing After Effects cs6 on my new Yosemite system.

I then attempted to install all the software from my old computer. Installed Entire cs6 suite, after effects is greyed out.
When i tried to open, i received an error " You can’t use this version of the application “Adobe After Effects CS6” with this version of OS X. You have “Adobe After Effects CS6” 11.0. "
I then read online that there was fix by updating to After Effects to 11.4. Due to the fact that i cant open program to update from within i downloaded update and tried to install via the installer. I acts like it it will start even giving a timeline of how long it will take then closes and says update failed.
It then says you can look at error log, when i do it says " Adobe After Effects CS6 (11.0.4) update Update is not applicable. Error Code: U44M2P28 ".
Anyone knows how i can fix this issue and get after effects working? Thanks in advance

There have been a few people having problems getting updates and a few different solutions. It all depends on what's messed up on your machine.
It could be as simple as fixing permissions: fixing permissions problem that impedes start of Adobe applications
Somewhat advanced, but it worked for somebody: Unable to upgrade to 11.0.1 for AE CS6
You may have to defeat a daemon... Newly installed After Effects CS6 won't launch.
One solution for a different OS and AE version, but might solve it: Mavericks and AE 12.0/12.1/12.2

Not Able To Install After Effects Cs6 Trial

I am currently using a macbook pro 13 inch with mountain lion software at version 10.8.2
I am not able to install the after effects cs6 trial
I tried to turn off my proxies and vpn, but it still does not work
I also tried to restart my computer and tried to install it again but still nothing happens

I was able to install the trial on my imac with the same account, it opened normally
How come my macbook pro could not install it

And not to point out the obvious: a 13" MBP may not meet the system requirements due to the limited screen resolution.

Hola, tengo un problema al iniciar el programa "after effects CS6" :
Cuando se inicia y se carga se detiene en la carpeta "Resources" y aparece una advertencia que dice "Unknown Exception" luego tienes la posivilidad de clikar "ok" y se abre sin ningun problema aparente.
Mi sistema operativo es Mac OS X 10.8

AMD FX 8150 problem on After Effects CS6

After effects cs6 detects only 1 core of my 8-core processor. How can I fix this? TIA!

I'm experiencing very similar problems. When I hit RAM preview it takes between 7 and 30 seconds to start the render process, which is fast once it starts. For large projects this is maddening. I've tried every setting I can think of it has 0 affect on the issue.
I don't expect to get a real solution as over the years I've just learned to live with AE quirks. I'm sure some will want to blame the system which is a 3770k running at (4.4ghz) 32GB RAM, Asus p8z77a-v deluxe board and an nivida GTX 660 2GB hardware enabled (hacked) video card all running on a Samsung SSD. Others apps are lightning fast and even Premiere performs fantastic, but of course as I live in AE it tortures me to no end now.
But no, you are not alone with this. I also get strange behavior at times where dozens of AE windows flash on the task bar for a few seconds before locking in and rendering whatever it is I'm working with. Current settings are NO disk cache, NO render multiple frames. Projects start off smooth with instant previews but when it gets busy with many different clips things get like I've described above. Should mention I work mostly with Canon XF100 footage for HDV projects maybe the codec has an impact.

I downloaded the After Effects CS6 trial, but when I tried to run the patch installer, it told me to download adobe app manager. I did so, but when I try and run the patch installer again, it says in app manager that "Update failed. Update could not be applied." Please, I have really important work that I need to do, and I just cant get this thing to work. PLEASE HELP

it says I need to update, but when I click on updates within aam, it just says "you're good! No new updates" Is there somewhere specific I need to go to update? Because the only options I have are all & Updates :/

Multiple problems installing After Effects 12.2.1.5 trail on os x 10.9.3

iMac 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7 - 16 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
I downloaded the CC app and then downloaded After Effects 12.2
Installed the 12.2.1.5 update.
I feel that all my issues are interrelated so I'm posting them together.
Here are the problems:
After Effects warning: Could not rename the file '/Users/...../Library/Preferences/Adobe/AfterEffects/12.2/Workspaces......xml' to Workspaces.xml'. My workaround: i changed the 12.0, 12.1, and 12.2 folder permissions to Read & Write for system,wheel,everyone + all enclosed folders.
Start up time takes 4 minutes because it hangs on Initializing MediaCore.
'Quicktime component not installed on this system...' error message. Strange because QT works for AE CS5
Quicktime not available in Render Queue
Render Queue: Missing lossless, alpha only, lossless with alpha, quicktime, and ram preview formats
Ram preview only works for a few frames then stops.
Preferences : After Effects Multiprocessing: Number of actual cpu's used is stuck at 0. Can’t be changed.
Preferences don't save after restart
Instead of hunting down solutions for each problem I feel there is one solution to them all.
My hunch is there is a permissions problem that stops After Effects from installing and working properly.

And there have been a number of threads about it. You may have a couple of different issues occurring and I've seen some good threads on both.
Permissions issues are mentioned a lot with OS upgrades. Do a forum search and I'm sure you'll find some answers.
Also there's this page on Quicktime issues: troubleshooting QuickTime errors with After Effects that you should probably take a look at.

Newly installed After Effects CS6 won't launch.

Mac OS X v10.6.8, v10.7, or v10.8** All other applications in Production Premium launch and function as normal.

Updated AE CS6 to version 11.0.4. Did the trick! (Of course, I had to defeat the AdobeCrashDaemon using the Mac Activity utility before the update would install).

Problem Install After Effects CC on OS X Mavericks 10.9

I get an error try to update after effect CC manually on OS X Mavericks . According to this page: http://helpx.adobe.com/after-effects/kb/effects-launch-mac-os-109.html I have to download and instal an update manually. But when I try to install the patch, this error occurs: Error Code: U44M2P15. Any help?

There are dozens of threads that people have already created about Mavericks issues. They all have the same info repeated in them. Here's a page of info and, if it doesn't help, read it more carefully. If that still doesn't help, check out some of the other threads about it and try what's suggested there.

Audio Problem In After effects cs6

i have a very bad peoblem. i really need help. when i import my clip into after effects there is no audio whatever i do. i have tried ram preview and many other settings. my clip has sound when i play it itn windows media player and quicktime but not when it in after effects someone please help me i would appreciate it. also there is no speaker icon next to the clip like there usually is.

RAM preview IS regular playback in After Effects. Spacebar is pointless (and I'm not even sure why it works at all). You have to remember, as Rick pointed out, that After Effects is completely different from an NLE.
Now, if you want to just play the audio without having to render, you can press the decimal key (.) on your numeric keypad. During audio playback, you can press the * key on your keypad to leave markers. If a layer's selected, it'll leave layer markers and if no layer is selected, it will leave composition markers.
As someone new to After Effects, you should really start here. The resources linked there cover all of the basic things you need to know about AE including how to preview. Getting a good foundation in the fundamentals will help you avoid much frustration in the future.

Export problems in After Effects CS6 (WMV8)

Hello everyone,
I recently discovered a strange problem with AE CS6:
for a broadcasting system (used in public transportation) I have to export videos as WMV with the WMV8 codec and a Variable Bitrate (WMV9 is not supported by the system).
All videos have a length of 10 seconds, sometimes 15 seconds. They mainly consist of animated JPGs/PNGs - text, vector shapes, masks etc. are sometimes also added directly in AE.
When I export the AE sequence as a WMV, AE cuts of the last 2-5 seconds of the output file. So the exported video is not 10 seconds but only 6 or 8.
I tried various settings for the WMV8 but nothing helped.
For troubleshooting I also tried to export to WMV9 with VBR - and that worked just perfectly.
So I guess it's a codec problem - but can it be that WMV8 and AE are not quite compatible?
I already came up with a workaround, but this is not a real solution.
Workaround is as follows: first I export my sequence as an uncompressed AVI, then I import the AVI into Premiere Pro CS6, and then I directly export it from there to an WMV8 with VBR. I also tried to export it directly from the MediaEncoder but that ended like the export from AE: 2-5 seconds were missing in the output video.
I'm confused that it works in Premiere but neither in AE nor in MediaEncoder.
The Workaround is tedious and it doesn't always function with an AVI file (sometimes I have to export MOV, MP4 or WMV9 to get a correct result - that's another strange thing) - it's really experimenting.
I also tried it on different computers - it's always the same.
Has any of you discovered issues like that? (I searched the internet but I couldn't find anything, so this is my last hope )

Could be that this is a bug in Windows Media itself. I vaguely recall a similar issue in CS5 or even CS4, where the WMV encoder would not allow anything other than 29.97 fps with WMV 8. Something to do with that "Audiences" stuff and the predefined profiles, I believe... If so, I don't think you can do anything about it otehr than continue to use your workaround, but perhaps try investigating this on a broader level. perhaps you may need to install a specific older version of the WM libraries on your system liek some alternate media players/ encoders use it. just be careful to not screw your CoDecs...

Can I install After Effects CS6 and CC12 on the same computer?

I'm using CS6 in a class, and one of my students used CC12 to complete his project. Since CS6 can't open a CC12 project, I want to install CC12 onto my computer to open and view it, but I want to make sure that it won't screw up my ability to open up everyone else's projects who are using CS6. Also, I don't want to use CC12 because our school only has CS6, and I don't want to do anything at home that I can't bring to school.
In the past, I've had trouble with installing dupliate versions of a software, and don't want to have to uninstall, and reinstall CS6...

This is standard practice for most users when they upgrade. There are no conflicts.
