Problems installing and uninstalling itunes

I migrated from another desktop to this new win 7. When I tried to run iTunes it said that I needed to upgrade to 64-bit. I downloaded the 64 bit version and when I tried to install it I got this message: "This iTunes installer is intended for 32-bit versions of Windows. Please download and install the 64-bit iTunes installer instead. The iTunes file I downloaded is: iTunes64Setup, the version is 9.2.0.61
I have tried the troubleshooting steps described in the iTunes support. I get the same message when I try to uninstall iTunes.

The iTunes file I downloaded is: iTunes64Setup, the version is 9.2.0.61
Yes, that's a 64-bit installer.
With the message you're getting from it, usually the installer has gotten damaged during the download. What Web browser were you using for the download? Does it make any difference if you use Firefox instead of IE, or vice versa?

  • HT1349 I have installed and uninstalled iTunes on multiple occasions, but keep getting the error message that "Apple Application Support is required to run iTunes ..... Error 2 (Windows Error 2)".  Can't find any useful solution.  Can anyone help?  Pleeee

I have instlled and uninstalled iTunes on multiple occasions but iTunes fails to start with message "Apple Application support is required to run iTunes .......... Error 2 (Windows error 2)".  Most most frustrating.  Can anyone help, pleeeeeeease!!

iTunes "Apple Application Support is required... Error 2" and possible fix.
    Hi Redgilly (and others).
I just resolved this on Win Vista (should apply equally for Win7 too). Please uninstall iTunes before proceeding though. I'll walk you through the process I followed, if you like you can jump straight to the Solution section.
    Problems:
The initial error during the installation of iTunes was:
An error occurred during the installation of assembly 'Microsoft.VC80.CRT,version="8.0.50727.4053",type="win32",publicKeyToken='1fc8b 3b9a1e18e3b",processorarchitecture="x86". Please refer to Help and Support for more information. HRESULT:0x8007054F
The error (after installing iTunes) when trying to run iTunes was:
Apple Application Support is required to run iTunes. Please uninstall iTunes, then install iTunes again. Error 2 (Windows error 2).
After trying various fixes around the forums I came across this MSKB article, which relates to the first installation error:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2688946
This lead me to trying to install MS Visual C++ but I received the following error trying to install that:
    Error 1935.An error occurred during the installation of assembly ‘Microsoft.VC80.ATL,type=”win32”,version=”8.0.50727.762”,publicKeyToken=”1fc8b3 b9a1e18e3b”,processorArchitecture=”amd64”’. Please refer to Help and Support for more information. HRESULT: 0x80070BC9. Assembly interface: IassemblyCacheItem, function: Commit, component: {837BF1EB-D770-94EB-A01F-C8B3B9A1E18E}
Note: The installation of VC++ rolls back when it fails.
    Solution:
Through this error I found this MSKB article:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/946414
The Automated MS "Fix It" msi package didn’t work.
Note: Please backup your registry first (see the above MSKB article for instructions).
I opened the registry and (as instructed in the MSKB article) deleted the following keys:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\COMPONENTS\
    PendingXmlIdentifier
    NextQueueEntryIndex
    AdvancedInstallersNeedResolving
    Reboot and reinstall iTunes.
    I hope this helps.

  • TS3212 I have now installed and uninstalled iTunes 10.7.0.21 about 5 times and still iTunes app will not launch.  I have uninstalled my Norton AV and still nothing seems to work.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I'm having problems installing iTunes on a Win 7 machine.  The app will not launch correctly.  It was working at one time, but now I have no idea why it would not work.  I tried uninstalling some applications and still nothing.  I did have to delete the Quicktime folders because it did not show up as being installed. Should I reinstall it since it doesnot look like iTunes reinstalled it?

Are you getting an error message when you try to launch iTunes? If so, what does it say? (Precise text, please.)

  • (sorry for double thread) I have problems installing and uninstalling

sorry that i posted 2 things in one day but  whenever i uninstall After effects it gives me a message at the end that says "some problems occured while uninstalling please look below" there are no messages below and i cant do anything about it. also after i try uninstalling its still there in the uninstall/remove programs and if i try to uninstall that it says "choose the stuff you want to uninstall" and it will usually give me a list of things but it doesnt. and if i proceed to uninstall it odesnt do anything and stops responding. When i tried to install it the first time it said said there were somethings that werent installed please restart and retry it again and the more info button shows a list of things that went wrong like templates, 3 party content, 16x9 dv movie, footage and projects, all of those things have an error and some sort of fatal error i think 1609 or something i dont want to reinstall Vista i just did 2 days ago and AAE has never done this before please reply i appreciate it.

Well, the lesson here is to never use system restore with activated Adobe apps. Doing so changes the fingerprint of the harddrive and the licensing system and the installer do not particularly like this and Vista's own security stuff certainly doesn't make things easier. if you haven't already, run the CS3 Clean Script and remove evbery shred orf Adobe you have on the system, then re-install. If it still refuses to properly acknowledge your serial, then indeed calling support is the only way to get this sorted out. This stuff falls into the "black box full of magic" category, that noone else can help you with, unfortunately.

  • Problems installing and uninstalling Flashplayer 64bit 11.1.102.55. Please Help?

    Hi Adobe Forum.
I am having serious difficulties installing the latest version of flash player (which apparently I HAVE TO install). I 'click here' to download, click 'run' and it starts installing. Then tells me to close Internet Explorer (which I do) and everything that could be using Flashplayer. I then click retry and nothing happens at all. I cancel the download, checked my control panel and looked at my list of programs, it hasn't installed properly. I then go to uninstall programs and Flashplayer 64bit 11.1.102.55 is there. I try and uninstall it and again it tells me to close Internet Explorer. Again I close everything down and AGAIN nothing happens. I have read and done all the possible problems with settings, etc, but nothing changes. I'm not paying Adobe for a product update that they have imposed on me. I just want to watch videos. Can someone please help me. My computer is a Samsung Windows 7 64bit and I am using Internet Explorer 64bit. NB. I have just purchased Norton Internet Security. Could a setting in that be causing the issue?
    Thank you!

    Go  to this site: http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
In the Version Information box, what version is installed?
What files are in C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash and C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash ?

  • Problems installing and uninstalling Cannon 620 printer

I tried to install a Cannon 620 printer.  It seemed to go ok, showed up on the printer list when I tried to send a job, but it wouldn't come online and print.  I fiddled around (bad idea) and changed the printer sharing parameters, and now whenever I try to go into system preferences, printer/fax, it freezes and I have to force quite.  Same with other apps when I try to do something with the printer (like word). I tried to uninstall, but can't get to the driver to uninstall it, as it is in systems preferences.  Any suggestions for how to uninstall even though I can't get into the system pref printer options?  Thank you!

Hi Kappy, thanks for the advice.  Unfortunately, the problem is I can't even get into Print & Fax to select the installed printer, as soon as I click on it I get the spinning wheel and not responding, and have to force quit.
The freezing up is also now happening in word (which I used to try to print a document to the new printer).  Any other thoughts?  Thank you!

  • Problems installing and uninstalling Java

I am using XP as my operating system, and I was trying to install Java the other day and it starts to install, but I keep getting an error message saying that I already have have this version of JRE installed. Please uninstall the product through your add/remove programs utility before reinstalling. When I go to add or remove programs and try to uninstall it. it tells me: you already have have this version of JRE installed. Please uninstall the product through your add/remove programs utility before reinstalling! Then I get another error message that says fatal error during installation. Either way I go I can not do anything with Java. I also can not afford to do a complete system recovery because I will lose a lot of important software. Thanks in advance for your help.

you should try to do a kind of "manual" deinstallation, since the registry entries of your system seem to be inconsistent.
backup your registry, backup your jre dir, clean your registry with regcleaner (or another registry cleaner), i.e. remove the jre related entries. try installing again...
(i'm not responsible for any damages to your system)!
by the way, do you have reasons to assume that your system is lying when telling you, that the jre version is alreasdy installed?

  • I recently installed and uninstalled iTunes, and now I am unable to install again; the installer reads "Errors occurred before iTunes could be installed." Any Suggestions?

  • Error on iTunes library file after installing and uninstalling 8.1

I downloaded 8.1 after being prompted. After installing 8.1, I could not synch my IPod. I uninstalled 8.1, reinstalled 8.02, and now I am getting this error.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to correct this? I have about 39 Gigs of music, and will have problems trying to restore this to a hard drive.

I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this; i'm new; after i installed the latest version of itunes, i get a library error message each time i open it up; it tells me i have an invalid library, then it creates a backup and calls it 'damaged1'; i have installed and uninstalled itunes 3 times now; each time, i erase all traces of past libraries, so that i start 'new'; the first time i open up itunes, i don't get the error message; i do absolutely nothing with the program, just close it; wait 5 seconds; open it up, and immediately i get the error message, and it creates a 'damaged1' back up; each time i open it, it creates a newer backup, and keeps adding 'movie, genius, dj' etc to my playlist; if i open it 10 times, i've got 10 of all these folders - HELP ME!

  • I have recently tried to access my itunes account but am unable to.  I installed and uninstalled the new download several times.  I know I have a balance from itunes cards on my account as I received an email recently.  I have an ipod shuffle

I have tried to access the itunes store by many different means.  I know I have account balance as I put in 2 gift cards back in March and have not used them all.  I recently installed and uninstalled itunes several times but I still cannot open it on my computer.  When plugging in my ipod shuffle it does not automatically load either although my computer says it's working correctly.

Click on the "Start" button. Click "Run." Type the word "cmd" in the open box. When the DOS screen comes up, type "netsh winsock reset." Press "Enter." Type "exit" to close the DOS window and go back to Windows.
    Restart the computer.

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features(Later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (If this won't uninstall press on)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
See also HT1925: Removing and Reinstalling iTunes for Windows XP or HT1923: Removing and reinstalling iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
Should you get the error iTunes.exe - Entry Point Not Found after the above reinstall then copy QTMovieWin.dll from:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
    and paste into:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
The above paths would be for a 64-bit machine. Hopefully the same fix with the " (x86)" omitted would work on 32-bit systems with the same error.
