Problems installing audio drivers

Hi,
I have a x61 notebook, and after reinstalling Win XP (pro, SP3) I can't get the audio to work. I have tried to install the drivers from Lenovos web site (7ka113ww.exe) but get an error message saying: "The HDA Audio bus driver is required and not found".
In device manager I have two uninstalled devices, one PCI Device and on Unknown device. Where can I download the HDA Audio bus driver?
Some threads (e.g.http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=195883) says that I shall install Universal Audio Architecture (UAA) High Definition Audio class driver (Q888111) for Windows XP, but I only find this for SP 1 or 2, not for SP3 as I have. If I try to install the one for SP2, I get another error message saying "the service pack version is newer then the update you are applying". Anyone know where I can find the correct drivers?
Edit: I sent an email to Microsoft to obtain the 888111 hotfix, but got a response back saying that this hotfix is included in Windows XP SP3, so I should already have it on my machine.
Thanks, TJ

You'd likely have to install the UAA driver before you but on SP3.
If it's already included in SP3 then find the .inf file, or whatever file, name and point the unknown device in the device manager to that.
But yes... it seems as if there are problems with high-definition audio and SP3; maybe try this:

  • MSI 785GM-E51 can't install audio drivers

Hey, I would be grateful if you could help me with this problem.
When I try to install the audio drivers of this mobo(785GM-E51), Windows 7 can't find them. It offers me another set of drivers - that of VIA's, but it should be Realtek's. Normally it wouldn't be a problem, but I have a an issue with front panel microphone jack(it's not working), so I want to install the proper drivers. I tried disabling auto-installing option of Windows 7, and then install the drivers that MSI offers officially , but still the computer acts as if I didn't install anything.
EDIT: It seems that I have a different motherboard - in the document I have(about the parts of PC), it says that the computer has MSI 785GM-E51, but now that I checked the informationa about motherboard in the Windows itself, it appaars that ASrock M3A770DE is in the case. So I guess the fact that I can't install the MSI's drivers is because of different mobo. I have no idea how  this could've  happened.

Why don't you open up a case and read the model? Is the computer secured with some sort of sticker that voids warranty if opened?

  • HP ENVY TS 15 Notebook PC: Problems installing audio driver (High Definition Audio device)

    Hello all,
My product is the HP ENVY TS 15 Notebook PC.
    Product number: E3B65PA#AR6
    OS: Windows 8.1 64-bit
A few days ago, I  upgraded my windows from windows 8 to windows 8.1 and found that no sound coming from the HDTV when connecting my HDMI cable however video is perfectly fine. I was completely baffled because the audio was working perfectly fine before upgrading to Windows 8.1. I have tried several solutions posted on other forums, such as installing other drivers, and uninstalling the IDT High Definition Audio Driver and then scanning for a hardware change. I have checked the HDMI cable and it is working fine with other laptop.
Device manager is showing 2 device :
High Definition audio device ( Showing yellow traingle)
      IDT High Definition Audio CODEC
When I am opening the properties of High Definition audio device it is showing :
This device cannot start (code 10)
    {Operation Failed}
    The requested operation was unsuccessful.
If anyone knows how to fix the problem, please help me
    thanks in advance

    Hi:
The IDT audio driver (notebook speakers) appears to be working fine.
The problem is probably with the Intel graphics driver which  controls the HDMI audio.
My recommendation would be to install the latest Intel graphics driver from the link below and see if that fixes the problem.

have you tried to install drivers on safe mode or manually?
after you locate the .inf file for the driver that you want to install, manually install the new driver. to do this, follow these steps:
    - click start, right-click computer, and then click properties.in the tasks pane, click device manager.
    - if you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type your password or click continue.
    - in device manager, locate the device for which you want to install the driver.
note to display hidden devices, click show hidden devices on the view menu.
    - right-click the device, and then click update driver software.
    - click browse my computer for driver software, click let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer, and then click have disk.
    - in the install from disk dialog box, click browse, locate an .inf file for the device driver that you want to install, and then click open.
    - follow the steps in the update driver software devicename dialog box to update the driver

  • [Vox] MSI VOX TV BOX USB 2.0 problem with audio drivers compatibility

    Ok,let's go...
I have a DELL Latitude d510 laptop with a centrino 1.73 GHz procesor and a soundcard supported by Sigmatel software Sigmatel C-Major audio.I bought MSI VOX TV BOX USB 2.0 and tried to install it on my lap top.Yes,I had problems with SP2 on my XP and the MSIVPS software from the instalation CD was crashing every time I tried to start it,but I solved those problems by downloading the latest drivers and the 3.xx version of MSIPVS.But...I still have a problem with audio. To be precise it seems that my audio drivers are incompatible with the VOX drivers. So now I have video but I don't have audio. Also I installed the tv card on my desktop machine and it worked like a charm(everything workes:audio, video, the old MSIPVS which I like better than the new one cause it supports my remote, has better way of managing scanned channels,e.t.c ,but I have USB 1.1 on my MB so the image quality is very poor).I did a lot of experimenting, for example i uninstaled my audio drivers(that Sigmatel C-Major thing),and installed the old MSIVPS and guess what...IT WORKED but there is no use from this cause I don't have audio On the other hand if I have everything installed then in the MSIVPS (the 3.xx version not the old one) under audio I get CD Player as an input audio device(what happened with microphone...?).To cut the long story short I tried a bunch of things and still no audio. Is there any other case of DELL audio software-VOX incompatibility?Any ideas,or solutions?

thank you for answering me. y have no pci card working, only usb 2.0 and sata devices. also, the MSI geforce 9600gt PExp 2.0 gpu. the only usb 2.0 devices which work, are the flash (pen) drives, keyboard and mouse. but no way that the WLAn adapter and TVcapture, both usb 2.0 work.i've  tested them front side and rear side and is the same failure: if i use a pendrive, works ok. if i insert the wlan or the tv capture stop work as the 2.0 and a advertising window tell me to change to a 2.0 port, means the ports are working slower, at 1.1.  i still have the other PC, built on the MSI K9N4-slif mobo, tested them and both devices work at perfection.  i have 2 screenshots to show you:
this, is the device manager (sorry, in spanish but you understand that's about the nVIDIA EHCI USB 2.0 controller. the 2nd one seems to be more sensitive (works worth) then the first one. when the tvcapture begin work, then fails, i'm trying to update this controller, does it ok but then the devicemanager-window freeze. i must stroke the "enter" key to "accept" / finish the update. then, fails again:
the other one is from everest corporate edition:
both drivers marked with purple colour!
i think i should update this Win XP drivers, but how? the usbport.inf file (C:\Windows\inf) don't change anything. i don't want to switch xp to vista, i'm happy whit it.
i'm thinking also on another possibility: could be an energy failure? some usb devices, like the big usb flash dives. 250-320gb, fail because the 5v/usb are receiving it's not enough. could be, but that means this mobo has no solution and i'll loose my money.
thank you very much and i'll stay alert of your suggestions. by

  • Problems with Audio Drivers on K8MM-ILSR

    Newbie alert.
I think I'm posting this in the right area, but forgive me if I've messed up.
I have this Gateway refurb computer I've just bought, and I've had no luck getting it running with Gateway's bundled software (and neither has Gateway support... what a waste), so I've decided to go it alone (glad I did... it's much faster now).
Anyhow, I have the latest MSI bios loaded, and everything seems to be working ok except for my on board audio.  I have made sure the audio is enabled in the BIOS.  When I try to load the latest driver from the MSI website, or the Realtek website, I get the message that the "Data is invalid" and that the drivers could not be installed.  Ive tried uninstalling and reinstalling them in and out of safe mode.  I've also tried copying over the driver.cab file from the XP installation disk (read about this on the MS support site) to no avail.  I'm not terribly experienced in building computers apart from adding memory/replacing broken parts, and stuff like that.  I searched this site, and Googled all around, but I still can't seem to solve this.  Any help would be appreicated.
    Thanks in advance,
    Eric

    Thank you foxxww.
I gave it a little more thought and realized that nothing had changed since my fresh install of XP EXCEPT I flashed my BIOS.  Duh!  I since re-loaded XP and on-board sound is up and running.  Incidentally it also resolved a previous complication I had with my on-board video driver.  Now If I could just get the spontaneous re-boot issue figured out... Ah but that's for another post I suppose. Thanks to all that offered suggestions.

Hello, I have problem with conexant audio drivers. I have notebook Lenovo 3000 N500 4233-3DG. I installed these audio drivers (http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-71000) but it doesnt work. Can somebody help me please? Thanks.

Manually uninstall both drivers in device manager and restart the system.  If Windows tries to redetect the devices, abort the procedure.
Install KB888111 to reinstall the Microsoft UAA Bus Driver.  You can download it here:

  • Downgrade to win7 problem with audio drivers. beats audio software for win7?

I recently purchased the HP Envy 700-074 from best buy.  it was necessary to downgrade to windows 7 for some work software and I would like proper audio drivers/software for windows 7. Right now it seems to be detecting as Nvidia audio driver but in this case it doesnt allow my front panel audio ports to output audio. I would also like to have beats working.
here are the hardware ID's associated with the card
    HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10DE&DEV_001C&SUBSYS_38423619&REV_1001
    HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10DE&DEV_001C&SUBSYS_38423619
and here's a quick screenshot of the driver that is associating with it right now..
    http://gyazo.com/23499c19d5e2a21f81b9124ad822c07d.png
even those VEN_10DE's seem to associate to nvidia, but from HP the driver is meant to be IDT high definition audio? is something going on here?
the only change i've made to the computer is upgraded to an EVGA Nvidia GT 610 video card.,

    Hi, Paul.
    I have similar problem here.
I bought HP Envy 810-200nr and I hate W8, so I installed Windows Server 2008 R2, which is my favourite.
Then I solved numerous problems with chipset drivers and finally it all works, but Audio (IDT HD Audio) does not work.
    Completely silent.
    HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_111D&DEV_76C7&SUBSYS_103C2AF3&REV_1001
    HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_111D&DEV_76C7&SUBSYS_103C2AF3
It looks okay, when playing audio - indicator blinks and shows level, volume can be adjusted, all parametrers - speakers, etc seems okay but silent!
I tried numerous drivers for W8 and W7 64 but they give "Incompatible version" error.
Can you advise me what to do? I really want WS2008R2 here, but this audio is weird..

I have tried several solutions posted on other forums, such as installing other drivers, and uninstalling the IDT High Definition Audio Driver and then scanning for a hardware change. Hello skyeisthelimit. I understand there is no sound produced by the notebook. Based on the description, I believe that the issue is software-based. However, I'm not going to eliminate faulty hardware from my mind. You have attempted some troubleshooting, which is great. I am going to provide some troubleshooting as well (certain steps you already completed). Please follow all troubleshooting in the order I suggest:
First, there is Microsoft Wizard Tutorial that troubleshoots sound issues in Windows 8.1. Please follow the wizard until it is finished. You can locate this wizard here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-CA/windows/no-sound-help#no-sound=windows-8&v1h=win8tab1&v2h=win7tab...
Second, follow all of the troubleshooting, suggest in this HP document: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&docname=c03257712
Eventually, you will be asked to reinstall updated drivers. Please install this one: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-124012-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en...
Assuming the issue is not resolved, the next step is to refresh Windows 8. This will force the computer to return to Windows 8. It will also clean up the computer, to a certain extent (it is not as powerful as a recovery). For more information on how to refresh Windows, please reference this Microsoft document: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-CA/windows-8/restore-refresh-reset-pc
If refreshing the operating system does not resolve the issue, reinstall the operating system is the next step. Ensure you backup all of your data beforehand.
For information on how to effectively backup your computer, please reference this document: http://h10010.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&docname=c03270359
For information on how to perform a system recovery, please reference this document: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&docname=c03489643
Please respond with the results of your troubleshooting. I'm only here to help!
