Problems Installing Discoverer Plus

I am trying to setup Discoverer Plus, but I am having all kinds of problems. I'm looking for the right forum to help with my problems. Here is what I am doing:
1. Installed an Oracle 11.2.0 database. This is OK.
2. Installed WebLogic 10.3.5.0 - Was able to connect to the Admin Server on Port 7001
3. Tried installed Application Server, the Discoverer portion. For some reason it wouldn't create the user accounts.
4. Removed all AS homes and created a Discoverer Account using RCU. It would not create the Portal account.
5. Now when I try to install AS it can't write to the ~rcu directories because of permissions.
I have uninstalled Weblogic, removing the Middleware home , and cleaning up accounts in the database.
I will then install WebLogic again. But I am not sure how to proceed afterwards.
Thanks and if this is the wrong forum, please point to the correct one.
John

  • Strange Problems with Discoverer Plus 10g

    Hello All -
I'm working an exercise to bring an application online which uses Discoverer Plus 10g as its client. This application is located in an area that I don't have access to, so the symptoms I'll describe have been reported to me by users.
    1) When users log into Discoverer Plus and it launches, it does so with the iconic menu buttons (located below the pull-down menus) disabled and grayed-out. The users are forced to do all operations using the pull-down menus. This is a problem that is consistent across different PCs.
    2) When users do File....Save As.... the "Save Workbook to Database" window opens and the user is unable to modify the filename in the "New name" text field. If the user toggles the "View:" setting at the top of the window, they can then change the filename. This problem has only been reported by 2 users, but it's happening for them consistently.
    3) When a user creates a new report using File....New... the Workbook Wizard opens and all is normal until the "Workbook Wizard - Step 2 of 5: Select Items" page appears. On the items tab, the user activates the pull-down list to select the business area they want to use, and the business area name disappears when the users mouses-over it. So the user must click on the blank business area name to continue. This is a problem that is consistent across different PCs.
A number of the users' PCs have two Java versions installed on them like this:
    Platform     Product
    1.4     1.5.0_14
    1.5     1.4.2_16
I had them make sure that 1.5.0_14 is the only one enabled, but that did not remedy any of the above problems.
At this point I don't know what to try next.
    All help is greatly appreciated.
    Patrick

    Try the 1.4.2_06 java version
I suggest you remove other java version and stay with just one.
I do not remember but from some point the java version will use the higher there is and java 1.5 from my experience
is not working with the discoverer so well.

  • Problem installing NetProtect Plus

Yesterday I upgraded to Windows 7 from XP on a desktop computer that previously had NetProtect running. After a clean install of the OS I tried to install NetProtect Plus via the "download BT Software" link. I created and logged in to a McAfee account, but when I ran the installer I got the message:
"We're sorry, but there are no programs that you can install from this McAfee account. Please log in with another McAfee account, and try installing again."
Net Protect is still running and updating OK on my netbook which is also running Windows 7, but this was installed before the requirement to register an account with McAfee.

I have successfully installed BT NetProtect Plus on two Packard Bell computers but when I try the method using a Dell Inspiron running XP the installation stops and informs me:

  • Problem connecting Discoverer plus to Oracle 10g DB

I have a problem connecting Disocverer Plus to DB 10g.
DB 10g is located on a different server than Discoverer. All windows environment. When I enter DB name it gives me ORA-12154 error.
Question – I searched all the documents and it doesn’t say how to configure DB 10g to work with Discoverer. Could some one help me pointing me in a right direction? Do I have to create Data Warehouse or can I connect to the DB directly.
I added Database connection on the DB 10g listener. Do I have to do it on the BI listener as well. So complicated and no guidance.
    thanks

In your Discoverer 10g home, navigate to:
    $OH/network/admin
    configure your tnsnames.ora alias's
or a shortcut... on Oracle BI Discoverer connection string enter:
    username
    pwd
db string like this (no breaks):
    (DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS_LIST=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=yourmachine.domain)(PORT=1523)))(CONNECT_DATA=(SID = vis)))
There is guidance. The Discoverer Configuration Guide
    or MetaLink Support notes.
The configuration guide specifically documents common problems
    http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/html/B13918_03/tshoot.htm#sthref1287
D.1.4 Discoverer reports the error ORA-12154
OracleBI Discoverer reports error ORA-12154: Could not resolve service name.
    Problem
OracleBI Discoverer cannot connect to the database alias specified by the connection details.
    Solution
    Make sure that:
the database alias is in the tnsnames.ora file on the middle tier
the database alias exists in the tnsnames.ora file on every machine that runs sessions
Hint: If you have SQL*Plus (or any other Oracle product) running on that machine, try connecting to the database with that product.
Hope that helps point you in the right direction.
    Regards,
    Steve.

  • Install Discoverer Plus

    Hi There,
Right now we have Discoverer Desktop installed in each user PC and connected to an ODS database machine.
What is the process and extra requirement to install the Discoverer Plus to current setup or need to re-install BI again?
Also what is the extra hardware requirement to install the Discoverer Plus?
    Thanks and Regards,
    Kevin C

    Hi,
You need to install Oracle Business Intelligence Standard Edition on a server. This could be a separate home on the database server, or it could be dedicated server. The users would then connect to Discoverer Plus/Viewer on this server which would manage the connections to the database.

  • HP Photosmart C4780 and Windows 8.1 -64-bit - Problems installing driver, plus wireless assistance

    Hello
Apologies, I am technically challenged, so I hope I can explain myself. I have the above All-In-One Printer/ Scanner and now have a newish laptop with Windows 8.1 etc etc. I have incurred ongoing problems trying to scan documents to my laptop. I have managed to deduce that my printer driver has not installed. I have followed instructions from one of your help pages and downloaded whatever I needed to, however the driver is still not present.
I read a solution offered through the Forum back in June 2014 about doing some form of reset. What exactly does this entail and will this result in me losing all settings/ favourites etc on my laptop?
I am just trying the 'unplug the printer for 60 seconds thing' as also suggested to someone in May 2014. In the meantime if someone could get back to me anyway, I'd be grateful. I desperately need to rectify this problem, which I've been putting off for a couple of months as I need to scan alot of documents urgently.
PS - can someone also talk me through how to get the wireless facility up and running after all these years!
    Many thanks, Amanda

Hello @AmandaGreyUK , and welcome to the HP Forums!
I see you're running into driver issues.  I would like to help.
I would suggest Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Once it is uninstalled, I would suggest putting your system into clean boot mode within the Microsoft configuration.  You can do so by following this document: How to perform a clean boot in Windows.
Once the computer is in clean boot mode, I would suggest reinstalling the HP Printer Install Wizard for Windows.
Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting steps. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!

  • Discoverer Plus 10gR2 not show data when the script of view have package

    Hi my friends.
I have a problem with discoverer plus, I don't know is a problem or I'm doing something wrong.
I have a four views, the views containg in the SELECT stament and WHERE clause packages, example:
    SELECT d.price,
    d.total,
    d.min,
    d.mx,
    TO_CHAR (SYSDATE, 'q') quarter,
    d.fid,
    k_xdcd_qry.f_xdc_obt_price (d.prod, d.id) --> package
    k_xpxpd_qry.f_xpeds_salary_ca_u (
    d.prod,
    d.id) xp --> package
    FROM px_prices_proc c,
    xp_sla_max d,
    xmp_sla_puc b
    WHERE a.prod = b.prod
    AND a.id = b.id
    AND a.prod = k_xps_tools.f_obt_prod --> package
When I used the views on discoverer plus for construct the report, when execute the query not show data.
Appreciate it if you could help or tell me I'm doing wrong or does not support Discoverer Plus package execution.

    Hi Tux,
This appears to be a grant issue. Apparently, you have granted execute with respect to this package to the EUL owner or the view would not have compiled. If you have not given EUL owner the grant option, I would recommend doing this as well.
This appears to be an Oracle APPS EUL (tell me if I am wrong). If this is the case, it goes without saying that APPS will need to be granted the execute privilege.
Also, by default, a stored package executes with the privileges of its owner. If your custom package was designed this way, are the objects which it references received the appropriate grant? I assume you tested this, but I am concerned that the line, a.prod = k_xps_tools.f_obt_prod, in the where clause could be resulting in the Null set being returned.

  • Discoverer plus initialisation error

    Hi!
When I try to launch Discover Plus I get the following error:
"Unable to connect to Oracle Discoverer Application Server
Attempt1: RMI Protocol over http transport:
    Incorrect response from (server name)"
We initially thought that this was a firewall issue, but it's not.
    Any ideas?
    Cheers,
    Martin

    Hi,
I've only ever heard of this problem with Discoverer Plus, as it's only Disco Plus that uses 'RMI protocol over JRMP Transport', which is a way for the Discoverer Plus applet to communicate with the server. Anyway, the solution as given by Oracle at http://otn.oracle.com/products/discoverer/htdocs/hints/htm/plus_Connect.htm is:-
"If you’re using Internet Explorer and try to establish a Discoverer plus 9.0.2.39.1 session, and you may encounter this error on some workstations:
“Unable to connect to the Oracle Discoverer Application Server: RMI protocol over JRMP transport: incorrect response from from servlet at http://yourmachinename.com:7778/discoverer/plus”
If the answer to either of the following questions is 'yes', then this document may help you correct your environment.
    Can you connect using Netscape?
Can you connect from other workstations?
    Solution:
Check your web listener error_log. In unix environments it is found in [ORACLE_HOME] /product/ias902/Apache/Apache/logs - filename: error_log.
Use “tail -f error_log” to view the contents of the error_log file.
If the server error_log contains “[OSSO] Warning: Failed to decrypt OHS_ID cookie value. Bailing ...”, then it is possible that cookies are being stored in the browser (not intended), whereas the cookies in question are designed to be non-persistent. To rectify this do as follows.
    · Enter Start -> settings -> Control Panel -> Internet options -> General -> Temporay Internet Files -> Settings – View Files
    or
    · [Driveletter]:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Cookies
Delete all Cookie files from ias server and sso server.
    For Example:
    Name
    Internet Address
    [email protected]
    Cookie:[email protected]/
    discoverer
    Cookie:[email protected]/discoverer
You can search for cookie files by using * wildcards i.e. *servername*, or anonymized:
    Name
    Internet Address
    [username]@servername.domainname
    Cookie:[username]@servername.domainname/
    discoverer
    Cookie:[username]@servername.domainname/discoverer
After cookie files have been deleted, please reboot your workstation and reconnect to Discoverer Plus. Now it should work."
    hope this helps

  • How to update discoverer plus

    Hello everyone,
i've been using for a lot of time discoverer desktop to develop reports and now i'm migrating to discoverer plus because of a better set of functionalities (but maybe a worse usability :-)). i've in my system an application server with installed discoverer plus but i would like to update it to the last version available without re-installing the whole application server.
I'm trying to find out a procedure to do that but no success till now.
Is it possible to do something like that?
And if yes where can i find detailed information about a single component installation?
    Thank you all.
    Have a nice day

    Hi,
With the latest version of Discoverer there are different ways of installing Oracle BI. You may be able (if you want to) use your existing AS configuration but it depends on what version you have, whether you are installing with eBS, whether you need an AS infrastruction etc. The documentation (http://download.oracle.com/docs/html/B13918_03/assoc.htm#sthref115) is a good starting.
You don't say much about your existing setup so it is difficult to be more precise.
