Problems installing Lightroom 3.2 update

Hi
I have tried, unsuccessfully to date, to download the above update. I am running L.3 on an iMac and every time I click on the file I get a message 'Illegal seek'.
Does anyone know what this means and if there's anything I can do to stop it happening?
Thanks in advance.

Did you download from here: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4788
or from within the popup in LR?

Installed Lightroom 5.7 Update and Camera RAW 8.7 But still will not recognise my Canon 7D MkK ll even though this is now on the list- what can I do?
    Operating System OSx Yosemite IMac.

What exactly does "not recognise" mean, Kathy?
You're on Mac (thanks for providing that detail): are you getting a "could not be read" message? If you are, it's a write permissions issue with the destination. Change the permission, and all should be well.

I don't know what to tell you. I get the same crap. I have been into computers for about 25 years now and it really ticks me off that after all these years these companys can not put out something that works. It seems like they put it out then expect the buyer to fix there screw ups. Why should we have to do there jobs and have to pay for it too?

  • Problem running Lightroom 4.4 update

I'm at present running LR 4.4RC and I wanted to update to the released version.
Downloaded the file and at the end of the download I get a message that says "WARNING: This program was reported as unsafe."
( I'm not sure what program is generating this message.)
I ignore the message and click on "Run as administrator" and I get the message that it will extract the files to my desktop.
After a short pause I get the message "A problem has occurred while extracting some files. Check available space on your computer and write priviledges of the destination folder"
The download has installed a folder on my desktop entitled "Adobe", inside which are two sub folders PhotoShop Lightroom 4.3 and PhotoShop Lightroom 4.4.
If I open the 4.4 folder there are 3 more files:Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4 (folder), "Install Lightroom 4" and "Lightroom 4 read Me" (pdf)
Clicking "Install Lightroom4" (which is an old file, dated from March) does nothing.
The "read me" pdf opens OK.
If I open the Lightroom 4 folder there are two applications, Setup 32 and Setup 64.
Setup 32 is reported as being 112,150KB and Setup 64 is 0KB.
I need the 64-bit version and it does not appear to be there.
I'm running Windows 7 64-bit and  LR4.4 RC runs just fine.
I also had no problem installing the 4.4 RC update from my original LR4.3.
I cannot understand what is going on.
I've tried downloading the file twice with the same result each time.
The downloaded file is titled Lightroom_4_LS11_win_4.4 and shows a size of 787MB (826,229,963 bytes)
Is there a checksum available that will verify the download?
    Thanks,
    Brian.

I had no trouble installing v4.4 RC (or beta, if you like) after v4.3, which was installed the "old fashioned" way from a CD, not downloaded.
I have no idea what Adobe Application Manager is, and as far as I'm aware I don't have it.
Yesterday I did a "check for updates" within the program, and I received the message that the final version of 4.4 was available, which I duly downloaded from the Adobe link.
    That's when the problems started.
I cannot see any point in uninstalling anything at the moment, since it appears that the download does not contain the (64-bit) files that I need, and therefore I have nothing to actually install.
Is there any other place I can download the v4.4 files from?

I was finally able to uninstall CS4 - it takes forever - and reinstall the original CS4 master suite on Windows 7.  Then I used the help menu update tool to update directly from 4.0 - a download 930 MBs - that took a long time too - there must have been a huge number of folks downloading from Adobe last night.  This morning, the updates worked and the 4.1 update is working smoothly with AVCHD and HDV and other functions all working.
Thanks everyone. As far as back up goes, I back up everything on separate drives.  So if I'm currently working on a project, I'll have all the footage and project files duplicated on a separate drive.  And, if it's a huge job, I may get paranoid and triple back it up
As far as backing up the system drive on my production machine - there's not much to back up - nothing other than CS4 and other plugins - in fact, I'll intentionally do a clean re-install once every 6 months or at least once a year just to humor myself.
But my test machine - now I have a deconstructionist approach - I'll try to break it just so I can then see what it takes to fix it!

  • Despite English selected, I get "There was a problem installing Lightroom..." while installing 5.3

    Found the announcement and KB-article [1] + other posts on the topic, but my problem is slithgly off;
I see in the Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5 5.3 12-30-2013.log that the MSI issue happens:
Install MSI payload failed with error: 1624 - Error applying transforms.
Third party payload installer Adobe_Lightroom_x64.msi failed with exit code: 1624
My Adobe Creative Cloud app has "English (International)" set as the app language, though.
Any hope for me to complete the upgrade?
    [1] http://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/error-installing-lightroom-53.html

Got excellent help from Dilip on Adobe chat!
    Trick was roughtly;
Sign out of and close CC
Empty temp folder (run -> %temp%)
    Sign back in to CC
Restart LR-install, it will fail again. Don't touch
In temp-folder, search for sub-folder called Lightroom_5_CCM_LS1_win6, with the file Adobe_Lightroom_x64.msi in it.
Execute install from mentioned file - that works (should work, and did for me) OK
    Sign out and close CC
Sign back in -> now Lightroom 5.3 is listed as installed and up to date!
    Thanks a lot, Dilip!

  • Problem installing Mac OS X Update 10.7.4

I have tried several times to install the Mac OSX Update Version 10.7.4.
Each time the comptuer will not restart and I have to use the Time Machine backup (prior to the update download) to fix it. Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be?

    Hello:
A question.....how long did you wait for the computer to restart?
In any event, I think I would download the update again and then apply it.

Here is a solution for you that should work:
Boot into Windows XP and get to the desktop.
    Click on the START Button
    Click on RUN
Type Regedit in the windows and click on OK
    *Navigate to*
    HKEYLOCALMACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup
    HKEYLOCALMACHINE
    \Software
    \Microsoft
    \Windows
    \CurrentVersion
    \Setup
In the right pane, Right-click and select New - String value
Name it as “BootDir” and set its value to “C:\”
Try installing SP3 now and it should work.

Calmc what error message do you receive when you try to open Photoshop Lightroom?  Also which operating system are you using?

  • Problems with Lightroom 3.6 update

After installling LR 3.6 update, LR will no longer recognize Photoshop CS5 64 bit as an external editor. After adding it again manually, it still will not let me use various Photoshop plugin features. No 'merge to panorama' or "merge to HDR" or "open as Smart object" or "open as layer". I was able to add Photoshop C5 back as an editor manually but the options are still greyed out and any photos will not re-import back into Lightroon after editing. I'm running Windows 7 64 bit. Absolutely no issues before installing LR 3.6.  Any suggestions? I don't want to re-install Photoshop CS5 and I'm not sure uninstalling LR 3.6 will fix the issue....
    Anyonwe else having this problem?

I had same issue with my Win 7 i7 desktop system added CS5 manually but things just were not right so reinstalled Photoshop CS5 and now all is well. List issue I had with a Lightroom update was back in 2.4. On a side note ran same update on my Win 7 i5 laptop no issue what so ever.

  • Cannot install Lightroom 5.4 update

I have tried several times to install the current update but I get the "A problem occurred while extracting the archive...." error.
Other answers from similar problems that Do Not work here are disabling anti-virus and using 7-zip.
Using 7-Zip got 90% extraction (83 files - all broken) then it stops.
    Using windows 7/64
    Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Tim, can I ask why you use 7zip to unpack? The normal installer include it's own extractor:
    http://download.adobe.com/pub/adobe/lightroom/win/5.x/Lightroom_5_LS11_win_5_4.exe
    http://download.adobe.com/pub/adobe/lightroom/win/5.x/Lightroom_5_LS11_win_5_5.exe
Do you have enough space to unpack? clean your %tmp% folder to free some space.
Can you try to install on a full admin account? Log in using built in-administrator | Create local administrator account | Windows 7, 8, Vista
    Good luck!

  • Errors trying to install Lightroom 3.5 update

Everytime I try to install the Lightroom update I get this error dialog:
Could not reload Installer.app to be compatible with the required install plugins.
This install package requires install plugins that are not supported on this computer. This is either because the install package is too old or Installer.app is damaged.
I've re-downloaded several times, restarted the computer, repaired permissions.
No luck. Very frustrating and a big waste of time.
    Newest Lion on Mac.

We haven't been able to reproduce this, but our theory is that your system is somehow stumbling on an installer plugin we use to validate that you're running a supported OS.Please try this:
From the window showing Adobe Lightroom 3.pkg and the readme file:
    1. Drag Adobe Lightroom 3.pkg out of the disk image window, onto your desktop
    2. Right-click on Adobe Lightroom 3.pkg
    3. Choose "Show Package Contents"
    4. Open the Contents folder and delete the folder called Plugins
    5. Close any windows you've just opened
    6. Now double-click this modified version of Adobe Lightroom 3.pkg on your desktop.
    Does that help?
