Problems installing Logitech wireless combo

Question

I cannot install a Logitech wirless combo mk270r on my HP Pavilion DM-1.  The HP recognises the transceiver but fails (many times!) to install the driver, telling me to contact the device manufacturer.  The Logitech works properly on other pcs, so presumably the problem lies with the HP.  The Device Manager recognises that the driver is missing, but cannot fix it.  Any suggestions?

I really apologize Jamo, I misunderstood what you were installing. The wireless adapter doesnt have anything to do with a keyboard combo.  That will teach me to pay more attention. Your keyboard combo is not installing when you plug in the dongle, correct? With the dongle plugged in, go back to the Device Manager and see if there is a yellow caution sign next to one of the USB devices under Universal Serial Bus Controllers down at the bottom.IF there is, right click on that one and click Uninstall.Restart the computer. IF the dongle still does not install the driver, go back to the Device Manger again but this time unplug the dongle first
1. Right click Computer and click on Properties. In the System window on the left side, click on Advanced System Properties.
Choose the Advanced tab and click on Environment Variables… button at the bottom.
Under System Variables, click on the New… button
Type this in the box that pops up. Variable Name: devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices and also give the Variable Value: 1
Click OK on all the open windows to close them out.
Go to Computer Management again and click on Device Manager. Go to View at the top of the window and click on Show Hidden Devices.
Click on the drop down arrow for Universal Serial Bus Controllers to open the list. Look for any USB Device that is hidden (greyed out) and delete it. There may be several and it’s ok to delete all those hidden USB Devices. They will install again as they get connected next time.
When you connect the dongle to the computer again, give it a minute to reinstall the driver.
