Problems Installing Mountain Lion on Another Family Computer

I purchased Mac OS X Mountain Lion and installed in on my personal laptop.
I'm trying to install Mac OS X Mountain Lion on a family laptop that my wife and I jointly use - a Macbook Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.4 GHz, with 2 GB of memory, running OS 10.6.8. In other words, it meets the specifications I found online to upgrade to Mountain Lion.
I created a new admin user account for us, logged into it, went to the App Store, logged in with my Apple ID, went to purchases, clicked downloads, and at the top was OS X Mountain Lion.
I clicked Download, and it starts well enough, gets to about 10mb, and then restarts at zero. It proceeds to do this about five times before an error comes up:
"The application could not be downloaded.
The application you tried to download could not be downloaded. Check your internet connection and try again."
I'm drawing plenty of data with our internet. Any ideas on what to do?
I also have in my purchase history OS X Lion. Should I try to download that first, and then try to download Mac OS X Mountain Lion from there?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Can I buy mountain lion in another Macbook computer, and then Re install it in mine?
I'm stock in the re install mode of the Mountain Lion system and I obviosly didn't buy it for this Macbook, and I was wondering if I can purchase Mountain Lion in on of my friends Macbook, and then install it in mine, with my apple ID of course. Thank you.

Well, I can check with mine when it need to be updated and then I can signed with my ID again on his mac to update it, right? Just wondering if it's not going to create any conflicts with other software's, specially with iCloud and iTunes, because of his iPhone and iPad.
    Thanks for the answer.

Open the Mac App Store on the other Mac and in the Quick Links sign into your account. See if the Mountain Lion purchase is among hidden apps in the iCloud area of your account info.

  • I have bought a new imac late 2012 and I want to wipe clean my 2008 mac and install Mountain Lion on the old computer for my kids to have

I have bought a new imac late 2012 and I want to wipe clean my 2008 mac and install Mountain Lion on the old computer for my kids to have.
What do I need to do?

Boot your Mac from the System Install DVD that came with it, and erase the HD using Disk Utility. Then, reinstall the OS from the disc. Give the disc to your kids since it must always accompany the Mac it came with.
After the OS installation is complete and the Mac restarts to begin its new owner setup procedure, just shut down the Mac. Your kids can take it from there.
If you purchased Lion or Mountain Lion from the App Store, you cannot transfer it. The Apple ID you used to purchase it is required to maintain and / or reinstall the OS. Unless you want to supply your own Apple ID to your children for their use, they must purchase their own copy of Mountain Lion using their own Apple ID.
If they do not already have an Apple ID and you want them to have Mountain Lion, you will need to create one on their behalf. This does not change the above procedure - just give them the Apple ID and password you create in addition to the Mac and its discs.

  • Problems installing Mountain Lion

I have a MacBook mid 2010. I downloaded Mountain Lion and restarted the computer. At the screen Installing Mac OS the computer shows that is examining the disks to install the program and then says ERROR IT CANT BE INSTALL, PLEASE RESTART THE COMPUTER AGAIN. I did that a lot of times and no luck. I went to the Disk Utilities to check the disk and it says it has an error. I click to repair the error and it says that the error it cant be repair. After a lot of tries a finally got into the computer to get all my files out and I try to reinstall the original Mac Os to the computer with the Disk that came with. But after the computers does the restart the Apple symbol appears in a gray screen and I can hear the CD running to install but after a while shows the black screen with different languages saying to press the Restart button or Hold the Off button to turn off. I do that and then goes through the whole process again and again, without luck. Also, I cant get the Apple Installation CD out of the computer. PLEASE!!!! I NEED HELP!!!!

This sounds like a failing/failed hard disk. Set up an appointment at the Genius Bar.

  • I am having major problems installing Mountain Lion.  After downloading successfully and attempting to install the process froze after restarting - ended up hanging on the OSX Recovery screen. Wouldn't restart properly without me selecting a startup disc.

Three times I went through this same process for the same outcome. I have redownloaded Mountian Lion three times. I removed the Lion install package from the Applications folder in case this was causing a problem. Deleted and remounted the Mountain Lion package each time. Finally got the package to run through the install, restart and begin the file install - at the end it failed and I was left with a blank startup disc and no data. I have backed up. Through the OSX Recovery screen I selected a Lion reinstall - checked my credential against the app store -fine. But then failed on the reinstall.  Now doing a recovery from current backup but wondering the **** is going on. Wasted over 24 hours of processor time.

  • Install Mountain Lion on a second computer

I purchased mountain lion a few months ago and now want to install it on a second computer.  The app store will not let me install it however, saying that it is not available in the US store.  Aren't I supposed to be able to download and install software that I've already paid for?  I don't want to buy it again.  What are my options?  Thanks!

    Try contacting App Store support.

  • Stuck on start up screen after installing Mountain Lion.

I installed Mountain Lion and when my computer restarted it will not go pass the start up page. Any ideas?

The fact that your version of Photoshop is incompatible with Mountain Lion is completely unreleated to why your installation had an error. If you'd like to read more about Apple's incompatible software functions heres an article on it:

Additionally when you upgrade and have third party applications, it'd be wise to look around before doing a major operating system upgrade. Just searching for 30 seconds I found this from Adobe's blog:

It's on you to take personal accountability for what you add to your Mac. Sorry.

I installed Mountain Lion on my iMac. Now I cannot access the Internet. All the other computers and tablets on the network have no problem. I did PRAM and MC reset, modem reset, etc., all the usual ju-ju. I also cannot connect on my local network to any other computer. Yet Network control panel says I am connect to the modem, and Network Diagnosis says I am connected to the Internet. It's like the blind man who has eyes that cannot see. BTW, I am not some newbee. I have been a Machead since the early nineties and set up a half dozen networks, including the one I am using at home to which the iMac mysteriously is there but not. This has me stumped! I am considering going back to 10.7!

  • Bluetooth inactive after installing mountain lion - your computer restarted because of a problem

    Good day
I read up on forums, and I think my reboot error is due to my bluetooth that is inactive, which happened after installing Mountain Lion
My Bluetooth worked before under Snow Leopard
I have deleted the file under library to no avail
I have rebooted with cmd option P R to no avail
I have repaired permissions and this is the only message that pops up, and bluetooth still does not work after reboot.

The mail doesn't work properly and the cursor freezes up and I get the color wheel whenever I start typing and have to wait for it to catch up.  All this started after downloading the wonderful upgrade Mountain Lion.  Is there a way to go back.  I was happier then.

    clicked continue
Hp Installer determines that computer is connected to a wireless network
    correct net name indicated

    Get the following message:
    Device not connected
To configure the network settings of the selected device, please connect it temporarily via usb. The device can be disconnected from the usb once the network setting are transferred
click okay, but cannot continue because printer is already connected by usb.
Ran wireless net test by pressing scan button
    No filtering FAILS
I can print using USB cable
Can anybody out there help Graciegirl and I?
