Problems installing nVidia WDM video capture drivers

I have a  MSI MS-StarForce GeForce4 Ti 4600 (NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4600) video card installed on my computer and I can't seem to figure out why when I try to install the WDM video capture drivers - I always get the same error message "This device cannot start. (Code 10)" Can someone...anyone please explain to me what code 10 means and why I'm having this problem?  My OS is Windows XP Pro.
I would be so appreciative for some support of any kind
Thanks

Funny you should ask about the Vivo connector...When I originally purchased the card, Upon arriving home,  I opened the box and after reading the manual for a few minutes- I noticed I didn’t see the TV out Video 4 in one connector that the manual said should be in the box.  I unpacked the box completely and searched my house entirely and there was no 4 in 1 connector.  Well….having purchased more than my fair share of peripherals from Fry’s Electronics, I already knew that I had more than likely purchased unknowingly a previously opened box and then repackaged to look new except with one flaw….a missing video connector.  The following day, I attempted to get Fry’s to claim some type of liability and after a heated discussion with the manager - I ended up leaving Fry’s without a new un-opened box or a replacement for the connector that had been missing.
Then months later I was on the PC Club’s website and came upon a Vivo connector that I thought might work with my card.  I ordered it and two months later! Literally! It arrived. (That’s another horror story!!!) The Vivo video in/out connector arrived and to my disappointment, didn’t work with my card.
So to make a long story short (TOO LATE!)  No the card doesn’t work with a Vivo connector but rather a MSI named TV in/out 4 in 1 connector.  But since I don’t have it anyway, my plan is to try capturing video with an S video cable and give that a whirl!

Just an update- I have now downloaded the software you have suggested and plan un- installing and then re-installing the drivers you had recommended  I'll let you know
Thanks again for all you're input.

  • Problems installing WDM Video Capture

I bought a complete new computer and I bought the MSI GF4TI4200 with 128 MB DDR RAM, when I installed the drivers for the card there were no problems, but when I installed the capture drivers, the computer gives an error on the Nvidia WDM Video Capture(Universal), it cannot be started he says (Code 10).  I use Windows XP.  I first tried with the cd, after that I deleted all the drivers and downloaded them from this site, but the problem remains.  Also the LiveUpdate doesn't do anything good.
And my computer reboots all the time, I think due to the bad installed card.  Sometimes frequently, and sometimes after a couple of hours, always when I do something else.
Can someone tel me what to do please?
    My computer:
    Pentium 4 2,53 Ghz
    ASUS P4S8X
    512 MB DDRRAM pc2700
    MSI GF4TI4200 128 MB
    Hercules Gamesurround Fortissimo III
    Seagate 80 GB 7200
    LG DVD player 16x48
    LiteOn 40x12x48

I've been there, been stupid (see previous reply).  Except in my case it took the third MSI Tech Support guy to sort it out.  To my knowledge the G4Ti4200 actually ends in "TD" not "VTD".  "VTD" is only available on the 4400 and 4600 models.  The "T" stands for TV out and the "D" stands for digital video out (flat screens) the "V" stands for video in or video capture.  The 4200 doesn't have video capture ugh!!!!
I should have put two and two together realizing MSI really is cutting corners with their one size fits all documentation and driver sets.  The thing that gets me is that they really went out of there way to cut costs (and ultimately confusing me) in that I looked at the connector on the back and it had the number pins consistant with video capture so I thought I had it.  Older versions with TV out only had the standard 4 pin S-video DIN electical receptical.  What they have done is invented a nonstandard DIN receptical so the standard 4 pin S-video plug would fit but they also crammed in a few additional pins for video capture.  Now they can use the same connector on the all cards with or without video capture capability.
They will ultimately pay I exchanged a perfectly good card for a new one and I bet I'm not the only one.

  • Ti4800SE-VTD8X & WDM video capture problem...

sheeesh... I did everything I know to solve the problem... I read every thread on this help forum having the word "WDM" using the search engine and also on other webpages and forums. I can see that I am not the only one having problem with the WDM drivers
Can anyone help me with this  ?(  :
The WDM driver fails to load and make my system boot up time to around 45 seconds to 1 minute which is normally booting in less than 18 seconds without the WDM driver installed. In the "Device Manager", I see a nice lil " ! " on the "nVidia WDM Video Capture (Universal)" codec.
Here is what I did to date :
    1) I had an MSI Ti4200-VTD8X on a different setup computer and had the same problem. I changed my 250 power supply to a 350 watts as I read it might solve some problem but it did not.
    2) I exchanged the Ti4200 for a brand new MSI GeForce4 Ti4800SE-VTD8X (MS-8900) and STILL have the same problem
    3) I completely change my "old" P4 1.8 to a brand new setup (see at bottom) AND STILL have the same problem.
    4) Why did I buy an nVidia product instead of ATI ?   dunno...
    5) I have tried to uninstall, reinstall, uninstall, reinstall, uninstall, reinstall... huh ?  ?(  oh yeah, the nVidia WDM drivers 1.21 and 1.22 still doesn't work. I even tried old WDM drivers as some said solved their problem. Installed 1.04, still the same problem.
    6) I have tried the WDM from MSI (was happy to see a newer version 1.27) and disaster  8o  computer crash with a nice blue screen and reset itself as soon XP loads this famous WDM driver during boot sequence. Had to start in safe mode using the last known working version... At least, that worked...
    7) The only way I can make this crappy driver to works (and that is at 50%) is this way
    a) in the device manage, I right clic the faulty codec (that XP kindly took the time to open for me to show me that this is not working...) and go to "update the driver"
    b) then I click "install from a specified location"
    c) then I click "do not search, I will chose the driver to install"
    d) then I can see "nVidia WDM Video Capture (Universal)" in the list so I click on it
    e) click "next" button
    f) XP reinstall the driver withtout the " ! " once I go back in the "Device Manager".
The only thing with that is that it is unstable. Sometimes it might work for 1 hour, sometimes 10 minutes. What it does is it completely crash the application which is using the WDM, for instance InterVideo WinProducer. And here is the kind and gentle warning message box from XP saying : "InterVideo WinProducer has to shut down. We are sorry blah blah blah blah..."   and of course you lose any recordings you were capturing or working on...
If I reboot the system, the codec is once again not loaded properly.
So, can some one help me with this ???
    Thank you !  :D

Try and download demo version, and see if you have use for it. I would like to use it, when I want, to watch DVD on my TV.
So now we need MSI or nVidia to make a WDM driver that works with nVidia VGA 44.03 driver.
    Thanks man !
I have tried the TV Tool and quite frankly, I don't really like it... For the moment that is... It messed up a little the video settings like resolution and refresh rate. I have had numerous errors also saying to update to the latest version but you already told me about that.
I have noticed something with 41.07 driver that I lost a nice feature that might interest you ! In fact, with this feature, I think you would not need the TV Tool.
I had the option before to maxize the TV out to full screen when the DVD player started or when I watched any video format.
I can have the Windows Media Player (using nVidia nDVD for DVD) running minimized on my main VGA monitor and get the S-Video out run full screen which was really nice. Sadly, this option looks to be nowhere to find with the Detonator 41.07 version.  :(
I don't know if there will be a serious revision about the newest Detonator drivers so it can support our card with full features like the full screen one...
When you fix a problem, there is a new one that come out  :O
If you get any hint on how to complaint at MSI or nVidia, it would be great to let them know that something has changed since the v.41.07 that makes a lot of nVidia users having problems with the WDM issue.
Thanks again, at least, I can capture some video ! But not able to watch it full screen anymore on the TV out
    Let's keep in touch !
    See ya !

  • Is my problem double WDM video captures???

Suddenly I can't capture AVI in VirtualDub anymore, when I choose "capture AVI" it says "Videounit already in use". Why does it say this? I've restarted my computer, reinstalled VirtualDub, reinstalled the capturedrivers of my graphic card and switched down all other running processes in the activityfield but still the same message.
I just found that under "Properties for sound and multimedia" I have two WDM video captures:
    nVidia WDM Video Capture (universal)
    and
    Older videorecordingunits:
WDM Video For Windows Capture Driver (Win32)
    Should I remove the latter???
    (I have MSI G4 TI-4400 and Windows 2000 Pro)

Forgett about it, I solved it myself, just reinstalled the program iuVCR and VirtualDub works fine again. Computers are a mystery sometimes...

  • Wdm video capture (universal)

ok can someone solve this problem once and for all.
    got a msi kt3ultra2-r mainboard
    just added a gti4200 128ddr video card,
boot my xp pro and detects these:
    - Nvidia WDM A/v Crossbar
    - Nvidia WDM T/V Audio Crossbar
    - Nvidia WDM TVTuner
    - NVidia WDM Video Capture (universal)
installed wdm drivers v1.22 no problem but for this:
    - Nvidia WDM A/v Crossbar             working
    - Nvidia WDM T/V Audio Crossbar       working
    - Nvidia WDM TVTuner                  working
    - NVidia WDM Video Capture (universal) CANNOT START CODE 10
if the card wasnt vivo, xp would not detect it.
but it has detected so my card is vivo.
why cant i get it working ?
any chance of msi explaining why ?
im not the only one with this problem there are 1000's more.
    please, anyone ?

Yes ive also seen this forum, but it appears it still isnt fixing the problem for some people,
i must admit i dont know the power rating for mine.
but still its no excuse for the device not to work,
replacing the power supply should not be the answer.
An updated driver would be so much cheaper.
They should sell the card like this.....
MSI GTi4200 128ddr only £130 (oh by the way you will need to splash out on a new power supply because we cant be arsed to fix a minor problem)
PS it works fine on a freinds ABIT mainboard !!!!!

  • New kernel and problems installing nvidia-legacy drivers

I just compiled new kernel, and I can't install nvidia-legacy drivers properly. Pacman installs them, but the module (nvidia.ko) goes to /lib/modules/2.6.19-ARCH, and I want it to 2.6.19.2.. It doesn't work if I just copy the module..
I've compiled kernel many times without problems when I was still using Slackware.  So, what do I need to configure to use the new module directory? I Propably made some small/stupid mistake..
I tried legacy drivers from nvidia.com, but they didnt compile.. weird, gonna try that again too..

You need to install the nvidia drivers, or any other non-kernel drivers, specifically for the kernel you are using. Arch packages the nvidia drivers to work with the Arch kernel packages, and the "Arch way" to deal with your situation is to modify the appropriate PKGBUILD to match your kernel, create a custom package with makepkg, and install it with pacman.
You can also use the nvidia installer, but in that case the nvidia files installed on your system will not be under pacman's control.

  • Can not start x after installing nvidia 173.14.x drivers [SOLVED]

After installing nvidia-beta (version 173.14.05-5) I am unable to start x. I receive the errors:

I have tried the installer directly from nVidia itself and I receive the same results. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

  • Webcam Video Capture/Drivers

I can't find any built-in software (eg. Windows Movie Maker) for recording video from the webcam. XP has WMM but Win7 does not?
Microsoft states that the Windows Live Movie Maker beta supports importing live video from connected video capture devices, but even this does not detect my webcam. Do I need to install the webcam drivers seperately? If so, kindly point me to the location on the web where they can be downloaded from.
    Thanks!

I got the exact same problem, video works....sound not...tried to install the drivers again but that failed on the part where you should plug in your camera and press ok.
Looks like I have a great paperweight right now...

  • [GeForceFX] WDM video capture image size and position

    Hello to all.
When I do video capture with my MSI FX5900-VTD128, the picture is not centered correctly and not at the right size either.
Let's take for example that I want to record TLC. I always get a black vertical bar on the left side of the capture video and the TLC watermark is also missing on the screen. In other words, if I could move video capture screen to the left, I would regain the full video frame.
One of my friend has a different video capture card and he is able to correct the screen size and position. Is this possible with my video card ???
I have a lot of shaded options in my nVidia WDM setup. Things that I cannot change. Any clue on how I can resize my capture video and how to eneble shaded option ???
    Thanks !

Man... I have VHS tapes that I want to put on DVD... It reallly does not work... It looks like if the image was zoomed in and a little bit to much on the left...
Does someone know if it is possible to adjust zoom level and image centering on the nVidia WDM capture video screen ???
    Need some help here !

    ---> Driver Details: 7-24-2002
    ---> Driver File Details: 5.2.0.0252-3.020
I have lost my soundblaster CD. So I downloaded SBL5_W9xME.exe(9.0MB) from the creative labs website. It extracts many files and creates the Sbl5.exe(it's a installation wizard, 4.88MB). Starting the wizard the following error message appears :
Setup was unable to detect a SB Li've! 5. card on your system. This software package is meant for SB Li've! 5. audio cards only. Setup will now exit.
But I do have a SB Li've! 5. card! The diagnostic tool
    C:\Programs\Creative\Diagnostics\CTCplFW.exe
says that a creative SB card is present on the computer. The Control panel device list says, that a "Creative EMU0K Audio Processor (WDM)" is present in the system.
I tried four different PCI slots, and the same error message appears.
The description on the europe.creative.com site says that the SBL5_W9xME.exe(9.0MB) file is for SB0060.
Now i am not sure if i can use this driver for my SB000 sound card, too.

    Problem :
My Center Channel Port from the Woofer doesn't work while playing songs or watching movies even though in the Creative Play Center.
But, it works while during the Creative Diagnostic Test - a voice such as "Center" alone gets heard

  • Satellite A660/07U - Problem installing nVidia driver for Win 7 64bit

    A660/07U Windows 7 64bit
To begin with, I need to install this driver as apparently it will solve an issue with the current driver that causes the computer to freeze when booting with an external monitor as the primary display.
I have downloaded the driver install file from the Toshiba web site and it is extracting ok but then when I run the program it just exits immediately without actually installing the drivers.
Device manager in windows doesn't seem to help either, because when I point it to the extracted folders it tells me I already have up-to-date drivers, even though my current driver version is a lower number than the downloaded one.
    Rebooting has made no difference.
    Any ideas/suggestions?
    Thanks in advance

Yes, that is exactly where I got it from and I have tried re-downloading the file but still have had no luck.
I was, however, able to get the driver directly from NVIDIA and it worked fine and has also resolved the issue with the external monitor bootup.
It is still strange that the file provided by Toshiba did not work.
