Problems installing NW04 sneak preview (java)
hi,
when i run the SAPinst.bat, the status window SAPinst opens up and says this:
"SAPinst is getting started.
Please be patient ...

ERROR 2005-08-11 22:55:00 [iaxxgenimp.cpp:532]

ERROR 2005-08-11 22:55:00
FCO-00034 An error occurred during the installation. Problem: error in GUI server subsystem.

can someone help?
Hi,
The problem is because the SAPinst uses two ports 21212 and 21213 which are alredy in use.
Try the following :
1. Check if another instance of SAPinst is running if yes cancel it.
2.Check if SAPinst GUI java process is running if yes close it from windows task manager (javaw.exe)
Do let know if it helps.
You can also go through the following link where there are other ways to tackle the error other than given above.

SDM.jar Error when installing NW04 Sneak Preview in Phase 9
When installing the SP11 NW04 Sneak Preview I get on Phase 9 of the installation the error:
Unable to access jarfile C:\Programme\sapinst_instdir\NW04SR1\WEBAS_COPY\ONE_HOST/installsdm/SDM.jar
The mentioned directory is indeed empty. On the downloaded distribution I cannot find a file called SDM.jar.
Any ideas?Hello,
I have the same problem and rebooting doesn't solve this mess:

Where can I find or download this sdm.jar file?

Problem in Installing Netweaver Sneak Preview Java version
I am doing a full Local installation of the NW04 SP11 Java Sneak Preview.
I have installed J2SDK 1.4.2.09 & the loopback adaptor on MS windows 2000 SP3.
When I ran the installation of the WAS, the installer just stopped at the Step "Load Java Database Content". There is no error message neither did my system hang. But the installer just stays there and nothing happened.
Can someone please guide me through this. It's very frustrating now.
Regds
ThiruHi Thiru,
to which directory have you extracted the files? Give C:\temp a try because there are problems with to long Path names.

NW2004s Sneak Preview Java install never starts up
I've installed NW2004s Sneak Preview Java on Windows XP Media Centre Edition with 2Gb RAM and 8Gb swapfile but the server never finished starting up properly.
I've tried with JSDK 1.4.2_09, _11, _12 and with the recommended Sun JDK parameters but always the same problem.
The MMC reports the server has started up completely, with all green icons, but when I open a browser and point at http://localhost:50100/irj or anything else I get a 503 Service Unavailable or 503 The Application Is Currently Stopped errors.
The CPU usage of the J2E service processes keep chugging away at about 70% CPU utilisation, and I left it going for 24hrs but it never finishes.
There dont seem to be any errors in the logs that indicate why it doesnt finish starting up.
Has anyone managed to do an install on XP Media Centre Edition, or any version of XP?
Any suggestions?
SteveRich,
Thanks for the reply. I still get the same problem. MMC reports SDM, Server0 and Dispatcher all running, and http://localhost:50100/index.html gives:
503 Service Unavailable SAP J2EE Engine/7.00
Cannot process a request for dynamic resources.
Details: Web Container service is currently unavailable.
fter another 10 mins or so the error message is:
503 Service Unavailable SAP J2EE Engine/7.00
Application stopped.
Details: You have requested an application that is currently stopped
There are now a few hundred error messages in defaulttrace, which indicate 70 services failed, although it doesnt explain why. This is the first error in defaultTrace while starting:

NW04s full version Sneak Preview (java): License check failed
I've seen similar posts, but not exactly the same thing.
I installed the Sneak Preview Full Edition (Java), and finally installed it today. It shuts down after 30 minutes with an error from jcontrol.exe - the license check has failed.
It's not an expired license (I just downloaded it this week, and installed it today).
I've seen several posts related to using the Visual Administrator to manipulate licenses, but I haven't seen how to start this tool - there are no instructions I've found that are any more detailed than "start the Visual Administrator".
I feel like I'm almost getting it. Can anybody provide me that missing link? Finally got it going properly.
I adjusted my system clock to fall between the licence dates found in Visual Administrator and restarted the system.
It didn't work.
I uninstalled the sneak preview edition,
Set the system clock to 15/Dec/2005,
Reinstalled the the sneak preview edition.
It did worked this time.
I was surprised by the licence dates in Visual Administrator. This time that the start date was set properly from 15/Dec/2005 to expire on 15/Mar/2006.
However in the first installation, the licence dates are
from Nov/05 to May/06 which is 6 months.
This time i got the licence from Dec/05 to Mar/06 which is 3 months.
I observed 2 differences between these 2 installations.
1) After my first installation, while the jcontrol.exe is still starting some processes, I tried to login to VA couple of times unsuccessfully. In my next attempt to login to VA, it asked me to change my password and I did change it from abcd1234 to something else.
When I changed my password, may be jControl.exe didn't pick it up instantly and tried to use some services using the old password which might have caused the problem.
2) In my second installation, I changed my system date to 15/Dec/2005.So.. to prevent any sort of automatic date synchronization, I've disconnected the internet connection.
This time the installation date was taken into consideration by the installer to create the licence.
It is still a mystery to me why the licence date was set to some old dates in my first install. -

Error starting the Config Tool with NW04s Sneak Preview
All...
I am running the Java NW04s Sneak Preview (SP9).
When I try to start the config tool, I get the following error on the dos session
<b>The system cannot find the path specified.
Program terminated abnormally
Press any key to continue...</b>
I realize that this is probably a very simple problem to fix... so can anyone tell me how?
Also... when I log on to the Visual Administrator or the NetWeaver Administrator, I cannot edit any parameters. I have tried logging in as "Administrator" and as "admin". Is the Sneak Preview locked out, or am I doing something wrong?
RegardsSrikishan --
I did check the bat file, and it says:
%JAVA_CMD% -Dsun.java2d.noddraw=true -Duser.language=en -classpath .\lib\launcher.jar;. com.sap.engine.offline.OfflineToolStart com.sap.engine.configtool.visual.ConfigTool ./lib/
where JAVA_CMD should equal %JAVA_HOME%\bin\java.
I have JAVA_HOME set in my environment variables.
I did a "set" command in DOS to check, and it is there.
The properties file in its entirety says:

Update sneak preview Java Edition to SP13 or SP14?
Has anyone updated the sneak preview Java Edition (incl. EP 6) to SP13 or 14?
I have trouble installing SP13 (The installation of the Sneak Preview was smooth.).
Here is what I have downloaded and did. I found 4 SP groups for EP6 on Sap services:
- CM+Collaboration
- IGS (where SP12 seems to be the highest version)
- J2EE engine
- Portal platform
I have started with the update of the J2EE engine to SP13.
Unfortunately it hangs at step 17 deploy online.
Do I do something wrong here?
Any hints are appreciated.
Regards F.Hi Frank,
I updated the WAS preview to SP13 and it was a total mess and 4 week loss of lifetime. Never tried to do it with the portal demo though.
If the sdm hangs try the following:
- wait 5 min, then click retry
- if it happens again wait 5 min, then click retry
- if it happens again wait 5 min, then click retry
- if it happens again wait 5 min, then click retry
(no joke)
If this fails it will be most likely that your DB has run out of log space. The SAP system usually honors that with freezing without any apparent reason or log output. A colleague of mine has escalated this more than one week to SAP Support and event they didn't figure it out.
Try stopping the install and the sap system. When the sdm process keeps hanging and the DB will not shut down you are 99% likely to have the log problem. Get the win mysql DB manager, login to your db (default pw: control/control) and go to configuration->log volumes. Set the log strategy to "overwrite" (on test systems) restart and it should work.

Hi,
I am new to SAP NetWeaver. I want to learn EP and when NW Sneak Preview Java SP16 is available for download, I want to install it.
If all the other hardware requirements are met, can NW Sneak Preview Java SP16 be installed on an AMD 2.6 Ghz machine?
Does NW Sneak Preview Java slim version has EP and WebDynpro components?
Thank you.
Regards
Ayub.I don't see why the slim edition wouldn't run on the AMD.
The NW Sneak Preview Java slim version does not include EP. It includes the j2ee engine and NWDS. This is all you need in order to start developing WebDynpro Java applications.

System Landscape Directory is not accessible on NW04 Sneak Preview
Hi,
I installed Netweaver sneak preview Full Java edition on a server and when i access the NW administrator at the url http://...:50000/nwa.
In "Overview" of system management there are 2 warnings :
System Landscape Directory is not accessible
and
Only local system can be administered
But SLD is working i can assess it on http://...:50000/sld
Can anybody help me ...?Hi,
NWA works out of the box for the local Java stack. No SLD needed. Its just an information.
The second flavor of NWA is to act as a central monitoring tool. In that case, some things have to be configured (e.g. the connection between NWA and the SLD). Information about that can be found in SMD service.sap.com/nwa, or probably here

Error when install EP6 Sneak Preview
Hi,
Is there anyone can tell me why I got this error message when i install EP6 sneak preview and how to fix that?
The error message as follows:

Thanks,
BoHi.
This is related to the fact that database tables and database users are not removed when sapinst fails. I had the exact same problem with my installation.
You will find a thread about this using the seach function and looking for the thread titled "Problem: EP6 SP4 with MS SQL Server Dev.Edition German"
