Sun Management Center 4.0 requires an encrypted security key for communication
between processes. The security key is generated based on a unique password
seed you provide. The same security key is used for the server and all
agents. You must ensure that you use the same seed for all the machines you
install.
Enter the seed to generate keys:
Re-enter the seed to confirm:

  • Problem installing Oracle 9.2 on RedHat Linux 7.1 and 9.0

    Hi everyone,
As the subject line says, I tried installing Oracle 9.2 on
RedHat Linux 7.1 and 9.0, strictly following instructions
    written by Werner Puschitz
    (http://www.puschitz.com/InstallingOracle9i.shtml). Both
    attempts failed with identical symptoms:
    - the installer asks for Disk 2
    - after the disk is inserted, it hangs. It turns out that
kernel is writing messages similar to these in
    /var/log/messages:
    Jun 16 02:45:19 boston kernel: 16:00: rw=0, want=317696, limit=149920
Jun 16 02:45:19 boston kernel: attempt to access beyond end of device
Unless interrupted, this continues until the /tmp filesystem gets full.
Has anyone experienced this? I haven't been able to find
    an explanation so far.
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Regards,
    Ljubomir Buturovic

Providing a thread-bare configuration of your machine on which you are trying to install Oracle on Linux (and mind you - which kernel/distro, coz that's important) would definitely help you elicit more responses to your messages.

So, actually the database is up!
I'm quite puzzled by this. I'm an oracle dba myself, but the SMC has
installed this 817 database in quite a specific way. Debugging why it's
not starting could take quite some time. But what really concerns me is
why this has happened at all on a standard installation on Solaris 10.
Has anyone else seen this particular situation? Any help would be much
    appreciated at this point.
    regards
    Paul Stuart

I am pretty certain it is the existence of the smcorau user and or the smcorag group at the time of the subsequent install. As best as I can tell, subsequent installs end up bumping the userid of smcorau's gid and smcorag and smcorau get out of sync with the filesystem, and then oracle won't start.
I have successfully performed re-installs of SMC without removing everything by removing the smcorau user and the smcorag group. But I have taken to aggressively removing everything if I need to re-install.
NB The install script for the perf mon (i think) database requests a small, medium, large choice, and then asks for a dir on a filesystem with "at lease X MBytes free." That fs must be ufs. Not, that fs can't be nfs. So, you can't use zfs. There are perhaps 2 ways around this:
    I know this works: find a spare disk; newfs it; mount it at (say) /var/smcoradb and after smc installs, shut it down and dump/restore the dirs to a zfs filesystem, and then zfs set mountpoint=/var/smcoradb pool/filesystem;
I think this works, but only if installing all of SMC at once: mkdir /var/smcoradb, and then zfs create pool/symondb; zfs set mountpoint=/var/smcoradb/SUNWsymon pool/symondb
    Cheers!

The OracleXMLSave class WAS resolved correctly earlier in the loadup, which is why this is so confusing. How can I clean all of that stuff out of the DB I was working to start over?
Is it necessary to run env.csh prior to loading this up? I was not planning on using the client side so ignored that.

  • Problem installing windows 8.1 Pro into my G702PC Dominator

    Hello,
so, I bought my dominator and 2 SSDs as first thing I bought a Windows 8.1 Pro as well, cause it is not possible to buy dominator already with preinstalled windows 8.1 Pro and I need to use domain and hyper-v functionality as well.
I´ve tried to do a pure Windows 8.1 Pro installation (formated C:\ deleted all partitions etc.) and it was looking ok. but afterwards I´ve found, that windows have been already activated and the version was non-pro, simple Windows 8.1 without Pro functionality so the previous version I bought the dominator with. How the heck is that possible? Does somebody perhaps know how to fix that? When I´m trying to install it, it is still not asking for new windows KEY ...so  I´m not continuing then  because it is clear, that the result will be the same again and again.
I´m wondering, that this can be problem somewhere in UEFI, because this can be the only place where can be the old key saved and again reused despite my new installation attempts. But I don´t want to lose the modern booting methods and go back to slower legacy. Is that actualy slower right? Please can somebody help me with this issue? Thank you very much.

How did you re-install the OS? Did you use the installation disk of your windows 8.1 pro?
Hello, yes, exactly. As first after launching the Windows installer from DVD I removed all partitions from SSD, then I have defined new and then I installed the system like usualy. I was bit surprised that I have nod been asked for key ... but I thought, that i can do that afterwards directly from system or something like that but then I was surprised again :/ M.

  • Problem installing App Server 8.1 on Linux

I've got App server 8.1 that came with a Messaging Server bundle. I tried installing on a new machine, and it wouldn't go through with the full configuation at the time of install, so I took the "configure later" option.
I'm now trying to manually configure and start the App server, which usually is in /var/opt/sun/appserver/bin.
However, there's nothing in there except a PointBase directory, and there's no installer file for the appserver in /opt/sun. Anyone know where the manual installer script for the app server gets kept?

Okay - it looks like I've found the answer to my own question, unless anyone has a better answer:
    http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/819-2328/6n4khb8jl?a=view
This document goes over the post-install instructions for Sun Java Application server. It assumes you were able to run the installer, and then choose the "configure now" option to enter in all of the values right then and there for the install.
If you choose the "configure later" option, and don't enter in all of the server values right there, you are pretty much up a creek as I've found no way to actually do the post-install after this. There is literally no executible which does this.
The only thing I was able to do that worked was to try (and fail) to run the uninstall script, and then -- when that bombed out and wouldn't actually un-install everything, I did an rpm -qa | grep sun-, and then on EVERYTHING in that list, I did an rpm -e to remove it. That finally worked and allowed me to re-run the install.
Does anyone else have better advice on this one?

Please also read the install documentation. This has been noted as a requirement for oracle-xe (you need one more lib ;) ) This also helps you setup your DB, etc, etc.

  • Packaged CCE unable to force Agent into RONA

I'm running PCCE 10.0 platform and I'm running into the problem of forcing the reserved Agent into Not-Ready after four to six rings.
I've entered the RONA routines in my script after the call enters the Precision Queue. After about 60 seconds of ring cycle to the reserved agent the agent is finally forced into Not-Ready and the call is re-routed back into queue.
Can someone assist me in locating where I change the parameter for the RONA time?
All my document I've been trained on is for UCCE.
    Mike

    1. you have to set RNA in agent desk setting configuration for agent (keep RONA DN to none if you are using CVP)
    2. As David said, set the RNA time in CVP call server under SIP configuration for agent Extension patterns (this will enforce SIP timer to expire at given time and CVP can take back the call from Agent and submit re-query to ICM)
the Agent Desk Setting Timer < CVP SIP RNA Timer
because PG has to mark Agent not ready before CVP takes the call back from Agent Device.

  • FRU11.3.1 problems installing

    Hi All,
I had my primary and only server (I know, I know) running 11.2.4 and upgraded to 11.3. I had problems install/deploying the new agent to 11.2.4 machine. Then I noticed there have been 2 updates since 11.3 - 11.3.1 and FRU 11.3.1. I thought in my innocence that Aha-- these must resolve client deployment issues, surely. I proceeded to update my Primary from 11.3 to 11.3.1 and then FRU 11.3.1. I assume that deploying FRU 11.3.1 will roll up 11.3.1 ( double reboot required) but I am still having issues rolling out this agent to my test machines (32bit and 64bit).
My own machine which has 11.2.4 installed is returning the error "One or more pre-requisite updates failed to install to this device. Ensure all pre-requisite updates have been applied successfully and try again." and the other test machine which is running 11.3.0 (had to remove old 11.2.4 agent to put this on as the deployment didn't work) is also returning the error "One or more pre-requisite updates failed to install to this device. Ensure all pre-requisite updates have been applied successfully and try again.". And this is before general roll out. It's a bit scary to say the least as I anticipate this error on all our machines if I do a general deployment..
Have I missed something somewhere along the way? Dotnet4 is installed on the test machines. How do I find out where it is failing?

Update trying to deploy 11.3.1 after installing dotnet4.5 (which by the way crashed my GroupWise client a couple of times it would appear):
ZCC reports "An unknown error has occurred during the deployment. Check the system-update.log on the device for details." - a classic error commonly encountered.
