Someone could help me as I install the graphics card.
Thanks in advance
Carlos

Try card in another machine. If not possible add system specs following >>Posting Guide<< (That means don't use software like above as that won't tell us anything about the psu for example)

  • Getting the name of the installed video card

I'm trying to discover if exists any way in java to get the name (ATI, nVidia, Creative) and other properties (version, memory size,...) of the installed video card where the jvm is running.
    Thanks in advance,
    Joan

Definitely not directly with Java APIs....
    2 approaches...
    1. get another external program to do the work for you, and export it to a text file.
then you parse then text file.
On WinXP, there's a program called msinfo32.exe in
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\MSInfo
type msinfo32 /? for a list of command line options.
Looks like you can route it to a text file.
    2. Write a low level JNI library in native Windows C++, which somehow finds that hardware specific information from the Windows API.

  • How can I switch between 2 installed video cards?

I have an HP Pavilion dv7-6135dx Entertainment Notebook PC, Windows 7 64-bit. It has two video cards, one is a Mobile Intel(R) HD Graphics card attached to the motherboard, the other is an AMD Radeon HD 6490M video card meant for gaming. The problem is that the computer and all the games and software I install on it only pickup on the Intel HD card, not the Radeon. I have the Catalyst Control Center for the Radeon card and it shows up in the device manager meaning the computer recognizes the card, but I can't download any drivers for the Radeon card from the Internet and nothing else seems to recognize it. This Radeon card series, 6400M, has OpenGL 4.1 and 3D graphics, the amd.com site specifically states this, but games with 3D or which require OpenGL, such as Bethesda's Brink, won't play. The errors say my graphics card does not support 3D or, in Brink's case, it doesn't have OpenGL 3.1 or higher. I'm assuming something is blocking the Radeon Card from working or I need to set the computer to use the Radeon card 24/7. Any help what so ever would be very much appreciated.

Yes I just used HP to install the drivers. It worked unlike the AMD website, but it still doesn't seem to be working. It has all the updates now, but games stil don't seem to recognize the Radeon card, just the Intel HD video card.

  • Mega 180 - Install Video Card or Install Video Driver

I just spent 6 hours at a customer's house trying to fix the Mega 180 I built for her.
As I stated in a previous thread, the machine was working fine and then she experienced the BLACK SCREEN OF DEATH.  This is when your machine POSTS, loads Windows and just before Windows starts, the monitor goes dead.  Windows still loads and if you remember where icons are on the desktop, you can click them and stuff happens.  The monitor just stops getting a signal.  However, if you hold down F8 during boot and chose VGA mode, you can use Windows in VGA mode.  The monitor being used is a Sony Multiscan200ES.
Once in Windows, if you look under device manager, you'll see a listing of Unknown and under that it lists nVidia GeForce4 MX Integrated CPU.
So, I've tried the following fixes:
    1) Uninstalled all chipset & viideo drivers, reboot, reinstall chipset drivers, reboot, reinstall video driver, reboot.  BLACK SCREEN OF DEATH.
    2) Uninstall video driver, reboot.  Windows starts under the generic driver.  I install the video driver, reboot, BLACK SCREEN OF DEATH.
    3)  Figuring there had to be an easier solution to this problem, I installed an ATI Radeon 8500 card that I had laying around (I know this card works) figuring that I'll just sidestep the whole video driver issue by not using the onboard video.  Things just aren't that easy because after I installed the card the machine won't even POST.  It turns on but nothing happens.  ARRRR!!!  I try reseating the card, nope - nothing.  I take the card out and use the onboard graphics to make sure everything is ok in BIOS.  I read that if the BIOS detects an AGP card it will automatically disable the onboard graphics but it doesn't seem like that's happening.  So I look around BIOS and there is no way to disable the onboard graphics.  I have it set to boot AGP first, etc. and nothing works.
I guess the last thing I can do is reformat the drive, reinstall windows, and reinstall everything else.  But I don't want to do this because the machine is all set up, been used for a while, and it takes so long to reinstall everything.
My question is this.  How can I either reinstall the video driver so it works or how can I install a video card so it works?  Ideas???

    Quote
I'm going to hunt over at nVidia's website to see if they have a cleaner utility (ATI does for its Radeon drivers - rids the system of every last trace).
nVidia don't need a cleaner utility cos their software is better written!
stab in the dark - the vga lead is connected to PRIMARY vga port?
go to add/remove programs and Remove "Nvidia Display Driver" in Safe mode
restart your computer and it should boot into VGA mode, and prompt with Found New Hardware. cancel this.
the nvidia software will leave the install stuff on your computer, usually in C:\NVIDIA. browse to here and find and run the setup.exe to reinstall the software.
if its been working before, then its probably not a memory issue - it might also be worth making sure the latest nforce drivers (3.13) are installed too.
oh and customers usually WON'T admit to messing around to stuff they shouldn't - in my experience anyway!!

  • How to install video card driver?

I download a video card driver, after uncompress, i have 6 files as below:
    glx.so
    libGL.so.1
    riva_install
    libGL.so
    LibGL.so.1.0
    XF86_SVGA
It seems that only riva_install and XF86_SVGA is executable files, so i run them. But there are some problems cause i can not continue:
    1. when i run riva_install, screen displays:
Enter path to the X server tree.
    If unsure, press <Enter>.
    -n Path [usr/X11R6] :
Then i press <Enter>, it displays as follow:
    /My_Download/VideoCard/X-GLX-libc5-i386-dyn/riva_install: test: argument expected
At this point, what should i input?
    2. When i try to run XF86_SVGA, screen displays:
    XF86_SVGA: Cannot find /lib/ld-linux.so.1
    3. I use netscape to view webpage. Usually when i open a new page, netscape always ask me to install cookies again and agin, i press ok, and next time, it still ask the same question, even i press ok for N times to accept install cookies.
Could you please kindly answer me?
    Thanks
    Joanna

After run kdmconfig, i have following description:
Video Device: NVIDIA RIVA TNT2 (32MB)
    Screen Size: 16-inch (41cm)
    Resolution/Colors: 1024x768 - 256 colors @ 85Hz
Which means the system recognize my video card, i don't need to install extra driver for that, right?
But how come i can't see picture clearly?
And whenever i open a new page, netscape often ask me to install cookies again and again?
    Thanks

  • Issue installing video card on S5-1414

Before I start I want to let it be known this system is out of warranty, so I am not worried about voiding warranties.
    That said.
I came into position of a HP S5-1414, the case was smashed, however the motherboard (Joshua H61) was in perfect order.
I installed it in an other case, put a Antec TP-750 Blue PSU, 2 4 gig Corsair Vengence DDR 3 12800, 4 SATA 3 HD"s and one Samsung SSD Pluged into the Mini PCIe port that the Wireless adapter was installed in. None of those is causing the issue.
The problem I am having is that every time I install a PCIe Video Card (in this case a VisionTek AMD Radeon HD 5450 VIdeo card) the computer will boot once and then when I reboot it (for example I boot into the BIOS and when I chose Save and exit) I get 6 beeps and the Yellow HD activity light flashes 6 times. Now I know it isn't the video card because I can install it in my other computers and they boot fine. I have cleaned the contacts, make sure there was power going to the Video card from the PSU, made sure it was plugged into the PCIe slot and made sure the PCIe ports were active inthe BIOS.
What am I missing or doing wrong?
    This question was solved.

    Hi,
Post the HP documentation that shows that a SSD will work when plugged into the mini-pcie port.  If not, then remove the SSD from the mini-pcie port.
Remove the video card and boot up.  If your PC boots OK then open up the RUN window and enter: MSINFO32

  • Problem with video cards and posterization effect

    Hello everyone,
I have problem with posterization effect in Lightroom 4.4 and 5.
When monitor uses integrated video card (Radeon HD 4300) everything is ok. But when I plug in other video card (tested on GeForce GT630 and Radeon HD 7770) I have posterization effect in shadows in every Lightroom module. When picture is exported to jpg then everything is ok. Here is screenshot with NEF in Lightroom and jpg in IrfanView: https://www.dropbox.com/s/yftnnk6w1guii70/Lightroom_problem.png . Of course with colour images I have the same problem. Anyone have an idea what can I do? I have installed the newest drivers for video cards but it didn't help.

For how and why this could have happened, would you mind sharing your capture and sequence settings?
As far as applying parameters to multiple clips, I think you can make use of the Paste Attributes function in FCP...
Alter one of your problematic clips
Select that clip in the Timeline, then press Command-C (or control-click and choose Copy from the contextual menu)
Select the remainder of your problematic clips
With your clips selected press Option-V (or control-click on one of them and select Paste Attributes from the contextual menu) to bring up the Paste Attributes dialog
Select Basic Motion - under the Video options, on your left-hand side - then click OK
(Basic Motion because, if I understand your solution correctly, you altered the Center property - either in the Motion tab of the Viewer or manually in the Canvas - of your clips. You nudged them all up a bit, right? If you did, then that would fall under the Basic Motion attribute.)
All your selected clips should be nudged up appropriately.
But, again, I'm making a bit of leap since I'm not entirely sure what caused your issue in the first place.

  • Satellite L650-1M6 and problem with video card

    Good evening!
I have new Satellite L650-1M6 with no OS. When i made a fresh Windows 7 32bit installation i got several device problems. Most of them i manage to resolve my self (like wlan drivers) but now i need your professional help.
At this moment i had left this Problem Devices (from System information):

Adapter Description Standard VGA Graphics Adapter
Would appreciate any help on this.
    Thank you in advance.

    Hello
As I can see you got notebook without operating system and you try to install and configure your own OS.
In many postings I wrote here I write again and again that most important thing is to install all drives and Toshiba specific stuff following right installation order so here is installation order for your notebook model:
    Win7
    TOSHIBA Assist 3.00.10_O
TOSHIBA Extended Tiles for Windows Mobility Center V1.01

    Intel Management Engine Interface 6.0.30.1203
    Display Driver
Intel Turbo Boost Technology Driver 1.1.1.1007
Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver 9.5.7.1002
    Conexant Audio Driver 4.119.0.61
    TOSHIBA Value Added Package 1.3.3_64
    LAN Driver

    Conexant Modem Driver 7.80.4.50
Bluetooth Stack for Windows by Toshiba v7.10.10(T)
    Wireless LAN Driver

I recommend you to install Win7 again and continue with all other stuff flowing this install order and I hope everything will be OK.

  • Series of problems: Dedicated Video Cards turning ON AND OFF

Hi guys. It's been a long time. I'm back with yet some more problems.
After weeks of happiness with my wonderful computer (Toshiba Qosmio X305-Q706) I started finding some more issues with it. My laptop has three video cards as can be seen in this post: [Click ME].
One set is the integrated graphics card, an nVidia 9400M, and the other set consists of two dedicated nVidia 9800M GTX working in SLI.
What is the problem? At any given point the dedicated cards activate and deactivate continuously four or five times. This cycle can repeat itself two or up to four times a day.
Is that it? No. The set of cards are acticated&deactivated because the Windows Power Plans are being changed by an unkown agent. Whenever this thing starts it's because something is cycling through the power plans in an order I haven't bother to check but I know it goes through all three of them: Balanced, Power Saver and High Performance. I figured this out because while it was happening I had the Power Plan popup open and saw the radio buttons switching by themselves.
Is that it? No. When I wrote unkown agent, it wasn't so unkown. At one point I tried to run the Task Manager and keep a close eye on the list of processes running. Oh incredible is me. I found that for each time the power plan was changed, a process that went by "dllhost.exe" was causing the pain. See here:
At one point there were more than four of dllhosts. I looked it up and found that dllhost is a neutral Legit Microsoft file but can be manipulated to do "bad things". A few days later I still had the problem and checked the running processes with another program that replaces the task manager called "Free Extended Task Manager" by Extensoft. What surprised me was that when the thing was going on where there were supposed to be dllhosts therewere rundll32s instead. Should there still be rundll32 in Vista 64bit?
Sometimes, after the cycle is over, this error window will pop up:
I have no idea what it means. Sometimes it accompanies every turn the dedicated graphics set is trying to turn off. I suspect it pops up when the cards weren't able to shut down.
When I switch from the dedicated set back to the integrated card the fans won't shut down. Even after 12 hours they're still running at full speed and the air they're blowing out is practically cold.
That's all I gathered. I hope somebody can help out.

No, I am not saying it is bloatware.  Actually bloatware is anything that you don't need...
In this case I meant try that as a troubleshooting method.  If it is the case, then we can try reinstalling it.
You don't have to use the Tsohiba power management, or many other Toshiba software services.  It just comes down to if you need what those things do.  When they are working fine they don't seem to be CPU hogs so i usually leave them alone.  I did remove Toshiba power management on one laptop because it caused a problem and I was too lazy to do troubleshooting.  Also I was using the laptop as a desktop, always powered, so power management was not an issue.
    This signature left intentionally blank.

  • Selecting from multiple installed video cards

I have a ATI video card in slot 1 and the factory card in slot 3. My machine is a G5 Quad powerpc. Is there a way to tell specific applications which card to use? For example, I am running iTunes and want to use slot 1 card and have Motion use slot 3 card?

Yes I just used HP to install the drivers. It worked unlike the AMD website, but it still doesn't seem to be working. It has all the updates now, but games stil don't seem to recognize the Radeon card, just the Intel HD video card.

  • PCI port problems with video card

I have been running 2 video cards (ati 9800pro and 7500) fine for about 2 months now.  Over the weekend I came home to find the monitor with my second card garbled with black lines running up and down the screen, shifting left and right.  Also, there was a problem with my promise controller (had a question mark next to it in device manager)  I reinstalled that and it works fine now.  My second card continues to give me problems though.  Device manager picks it up and says that my card is working fine but in display settings my card does not show up.  I believe it a problem with the motherboard as I have tried 2 nvidia cards with the same result.  It is also not related to windows as if I change the boot config to load my second card first (pci) the black lines/wavy picture loads up with the msi screen and in the bios setup as well (totally unreadable).  I've also made sure that my monitor is working fine.  Any suggestions????  Thanks.
    Ian

Well to tell you the truth, I don't like the sound of this ...especially since you said that you tried another card, and had the same result....Well I would first go into the BIOS and on the PNP/PCI page, check the Clear NVRAM to enabled..As this will reset all the PNP devices...See if that works ...Have you tried to switch the AGP/PCI initiation sequence in the BIOS? back and forth?...You can also see if there are any IRQ conflicts.(but you probaly did this allready)...You can also try to increase the PCI latency, If it is set to 32 go up to 64 and try...Do you have any other PCI cards with problems?...Have you tried a different PCI slot?.....Well maybee another member or moderator has some advice ...Let us know.....Sean REILLY875

  • Problems with video card in CS4

I'm having what I think is video problems since I switched to CS4. No problems with CS3 before, or any other programs except CS4, now. Frequent apparent redraws leave remnants on screen, panels move back and forth, etc.
I have a Dell Precision 490 with 4gb ram and a nVidia Quadra fx 550 with 128 megs of ram. Open GL is enabled. I have loaded all the latest nVidia drivers.
If this sounds like a video card problem, can anyone recommend a good, not too expensive card? I don't play any games, just use the machine for PS. ID and Flash mostly.

  • OS 9 won't respond after installing video card

I haven't found this question on here. Well, not quite anyway. I've been running a B&W G3 with a partitioned drive for years. The partitions are: OS 10.4.9; OS 10.3.9; and OS 9.2.2.
I just bought and installed an ATI 9200 video card. It works great in both OSX partitions; but not in OS 9.
The mouse will let me move the cursor; but I can't click anything.
I've tried: resetting pram, repairing the drive from OSX, and booting from a cd and repairing the drive.
What else can I do besides reinstalling OS 9?

Use Apple Menu > Control Panels > Extensions Manager ...
.. to find it and uncheck it.
When you close the Extensions Manager window the extensions you de-selected will be moved to the Extensions (Disabled ) folder. At next Startup, they will not be loaded.
If you ever need them again, Extensions Manager can put them back into the Extensions folder when you check their checkboxes and a Restart will make them active again.
