Problems Involving text and FCP

I'm working on of the motion templates and the text that I am adding in motion, when I open the same project file in FCP the same text gets moved and is no longer in the same position.

This is a screen shot of what I am talking about. Notice the light blue text (Usion T(X)ENTY) is no longer in the same location in FCP as it was in Motion. Besides this I have noticed no other differences so I'm thinking it has something to do with the text. Thoughts?

I sometimes get this kind of issue with fonts moving or not looking right in fcp or on export. I can cure it by building the effect in a different way. For example applying as fade behaviour will sometimes result in a pixel shift of the text in and out of the fade. But if i manually keyframe the opacity of the text its all fine. Sometimes shifting effects to parent layers and clicking their fixed resolution will cure it as well.

Problems sending texts and connecting to 3G after 6.0.2 update

Since updating to 6.0.2 my iPhone 5 is having problems sending texts (often - but not always - says texts weren't sent and must hit "retry" a couple times) and having problems connecting to 3G even in zones with good coverage. In general it's much slower than before the update when connecting to 3G. I don't know if this is due to Sprint or due to the update? Yes, I have turned it on and off many times and reset my settings, but it hasn't helped. Anybody else experience this problem?

Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.

Is this a known problem - Panel text and combo boxes not repainting completely when scrolling in IE?

Looking for any insight as to what might be going on. Would appreciate any info if anyone knows about this or similar problems..
I have a panel with 18 children - text and combo boxes - that does not repaing correctly in IE when scrolling vertically. The 18 children do not fit in the panel, so a vertical scroll bar appears. The scroll works perfectly when i run through FireFox. But it does not work in IE in this case. The child controls appear as painted over parts of other controls.

Wow ... wow... Magic. Your last suggestion of removing the wmode attribute worked. The page looks great. The scroll works flawlessly where before it mangled the child controls on the page making it look like a hurricane scene.
The html was originally set with wmode as "opaque". I tried changing it to "transparent" after your first response, but this made no difference. What fixed the problem was removing the wmode attribute altogether.
We've built a rather large application. Is there anything we need to be aware of, or anything we need to look out for by removing the wmode setting?

IOS 7.1 Update problems with text and imessage

SInce I did the latest updates I've had problems with my text and iMessage. First I've never used iMessage in the past and always got my text messages and sent text just fine. Now it seems at though I can only have one or the other. If I have friends using iMessage and I have my iMesage turned off they wont get my message and if I have my iMessage turned on and I send to someone with and android they wont get my message either. It's like it can't figure out if it's and iMessage or a normal text. I have it set to send as SMS when iMessage is unavailbe but it doesnt sent as a text message.
So at this point I wont be ablet to get my messages from both iMessges and SMS..
Anyone else have this problems.

Font size problems between Motion and FCP

I created a custom Final Cut Pro title in Motion. I set the font size to 110 pixels. My custom title works great, with one exception. The 110 pixel font in my custom title doesn't match the size of 110 pixel fonts in other titles. I double checked the font specs between the two titles, and they are identical. But, the font in my custom title is much bigger (view screen shot). How do I fix this?

I found the problem. When I right click a text template in FCP and select "open in Motion", the template dimensions are 1920p X 1080p. My original custom templates were 1280p X 720p. So, I didn't realize I was toggling between different template sizes.

Design problem involving Wildcards and EJB-QL.

Could someone tell me if this is possible? (my syntax might be a bit off, but bear with me. It's the design I'm interested in, not the exact syntax)

Any supplied parameters are used, and those that are not supplied will use wildcard instead. I don't want to make a seperate query for every possible permutaion of supplied input parameters. Can this be done? If so, am I even close or out in left field? Is there a design pattern I should look into for this problem?

Yes, that makes sense, but the EJB-QL statements and finder methods in the home interface have to be defined at deployment time, correct? Once it is deployed, I can't dynamically create the EJB-QL statements and finder methods that are needed. That's the major hurdle I have right now.
Populating a big 'catch-all' query with wild cards and replacing them with supplied literal values is the only way I could think of to accomplish this dynamically. In my current work around I set a flag for each piece of data supplied. I then decide which (pre-defined) query is needed based on the supplied criteria flags. The problem is, I now have to have 2^n (n = number of possible input parameters) permutaions for the possible queries. For example: say i have: price, bedrooms and bathrooms. I'd need queries for the following cases:
1 price supplied only
2 bedrooms supplied only
3 bathrooms supplied only
4 price and bedrooms
5 price and bathrooms
6 bedrooms and bathrooms
7 price, bedrooms, bathrooms
8 nothing supplied (return everything)
Obviously this is going to break down really fast as the number of input parameters climbs.
Should I look at using some kind of JDBC code directly to build a query as I go? It seems like I am either approaching this the wrong way or missing something really obvious.

PDF forms have problems displaying text and only appears when the field is selected

I created some pdf forms to distribute to the company clients. But we are having some people complaining about the text visibility. When they have work in team, the pdf that they receive from a third person often appears unfill or without text, the text is only visible when the field is selected. I need to find a solution for this because our company products are base on this forms.
If there is any addition information that I should add to understand what is happening and how to fix it, I'll be happy to write it.
In the company, we all have mac and the forms where created innitially in Adobe acrobat 9 pro, but we have now Adobe acropabt XI pro.
The users have both Mac and Windows systems.

This is usually caused by the form being filled-in and saved by a Mac user who is using the Preview application to view the PDF. More information is here: http://kb2.adobe.com/community/publishing/885/cpsid_88564.html
It is a good idea to inform your users that Adobe Reader (or Acrobat) should be used to work with the forms.

Really, really weird problem involving iPhone and Exposé

Hey Mac users, try to figure this one out, this started happening to me today:
My iPhone is rarely near my Mac Pro, but today I set it on top of my Mac Pro to let it charge. When it's connected to the Edge network, and there's network activity, I get the usual "beepbeepbeep" through my system's speakers, except now there's a twist. Whenever I hear the network activity interference, Exposé on my Mac Pro flips out, and acts as if I pushed the "Show/Hide Desktop" button a whole bunch of times. It stops when the activity stops.
It's not reproducible all the time, and only happens every once in a while. But it definitely only happens during Edge network activity. I've never gotten it while in 3G or Wifi modes.
I am guessing that the Edge signal is interfering with my Apple Bluetooth Keyboard, or something. I don't have any keys mapped to "Show Desktop," though.
If anyone has any thoughts on this, I'd love to hear it. This isn't a really big problem, I just keep my phone away from my Mac Pro now.

If you go into settings - general - about it will give you the version, the latest one is 2.0.1. Updating your phone may solve the problems. Failing that, take it to your nearest Apple store for advice.

Problems with texting and calling

I have a problem with my phone, I just got it 2:nd hand so I do not know if it worked properly earlier.
I can't call anyone, the phone just disconnects and says "beep beep beep".
People calling me goes straight to voicemail.
I can not send or receive test messages unless it is iMessage.
3G data traffic works properly though, any thoughts? I have restored the entire phone 2 times and the network settings 2 times and it is still the same problem. When I tried to use the SIM-card on my old phone (android) it works as espected.

Your second-hand phone may have been hacked or jailbroken before you got it. Ask the person you bought it from.

I am having problems making calls and sending text messages and now getting my iphone activated.

I have a iPhone 4 and I had problems sending texts and making calls so I got a new one. I then gave my boyfriend my old iphone snd told him if he could get it to work he could have it. For some reason we are having problems getting it to activate. it wont let us make calles to verizon or anything on it. I do still have a warranty on the phone so would I be able to send it in and get a new one? or how does that work?

Problem with text resizing and moving

After much pain with this issue, I'm going to ask for help.
The whole issue(s) resolves around text upsizing, changing and moving in Muse.
No amount of grouping, layering and locking has stopped this issue for me.
I don't have divs that are a pixel off and whatnot. This happens even when I have a blank site and I test it (as seen in the example pic below).
The majority of the time, this is an issue when viewing Muse created sites on Android, although text does move when viewed on iOS.
Example 1:
I have a square div. I put text in the div that I want to stay contained in the div. Basic right?
View site on browsers and iOS devices it generally plays by the rules (although not always, there are some movement going on). When viewing this example text and div on an android device, the text resizes larger. This results in the text overlapping the div and moving EVERYTHING below it down. This makes it impossible to tightly design anything for a website.
I know Android has options within it for users to set text viewing size, but this worthless from a web designer standpoint. That is something I can't control.
Example 2:
I have 1 text field and set the typeface to 15. There is nothing else on the page, just a background image (under "Fill"). Viewed on browsers and iOS looks fine. When viewed on Android this text balloons to some enormous size (25+) that makes the website utterly useless. This random resizing makes it impossible to design to.
Example 2.5:
I take that same text from example 2, copy it into 2 of the same size text fields. They are placed next to each other, taking up the same width as Example 2. It now looks like 2 columns of text. Set the typeface to 15 again. I view it on Android and get the resizing issues from example 1 not example 2. It's noting to the extent of example 2 but like example 1, it still changes enough to ruins any design I'm trying to accomplish.
Is there any place in Muse to lock the text? I don't want to make the text into an image (obviously).
I been dealing with this in Muse for 6 months and haven't been able to find anything online or in forums about. I understand with the bevy of platforms out there nothing will look the same across the board, but right now I don't see how I can continue working with this issue.
Am I the only one dealing with this?

Welcome to the annoying realities of working with text on websites... Nothing you describe is unique to Muse.
Every browser has it's own text engine and thus each line breaks text differently. Even the exact same web page on the same computer with the same fonts will sometimes result in different line breaks in different browsers, or even in different versions of the same browser. It's just a side effect of the nature of determining a line break, where even the most miniscule difference in calculations can result in an entire word fitting, or not fitting.
There are two "tools" that are especially important to understand and use effectively in order to create designs that work as effectively as possible with the variation in line breaks from one site viewer to the next.
Text Frame Height Always Matters
If a text frame is drawn to the exact height of the text wthin the frame, then any increase in the number of lines of text due to changes in line breaks will result in the text frame growing and other objects below the text frame being moved down.
If a text frame is drawn larger than the height of the text then when line breaks change the text frame won't grow unless the changes in line breaks are severe enough to result in the flowed text being taller than the text frame was originally drawn.
If you resize a text frame smaller than the text within the frame in Muse Design view, the frame will snap back to be large enough to accommodate the text, but a dotted horizontal line will appear within the text frame indicating the "minimum height" for the text frame. If line breaks change in the browser the text frame will grow or shrink in height down to the minimum height indicated by this dotted line.
Careful sizing of text frames can go a long way to creating a design that will continue to work well even when line breaks, and thus text frame heights change.
Grouping Has Consequences
As part of the output process, Muse collections the objects you've drawn into a hierarchy of horizontal groupings, vertical groupings, or stacks. When line breaks change in different browsers and text frames change height, when the text frames are located in this output heirarchy determines what impact the change in height has on other objects (if any).
For example, if you have a layout that looks like a 2x2 grid of text frames, by default Muse will interpret it to act as two colums. So if the first text frame gets taller it will push the text frame below it down, but won't impact the location of the two text frames in the second column.
If that's not the behavior you want, the way to tell Muse to treat things differently would be to group the two items in the first "row". This would cause the top to to be treated as a horizontal group. If anything in the group grows taller than the group, the group resizes taller and pushes the objects below it down. Thus if the top to items are grouped, if either one of them grows taller than the group it would push both the text frames below downward.
The 2x2 grid is just a simple example of the concept. In most cases you don't have to do anything special to get the behavior you want, but it is important to understand grouping has this ramification. Grouping an arbitrary set of objects on your page can result in undesired behavior when text frames resize in the browser.
For the Andriod screenshot you've provided, I don't have an immediate explanation. For us to explain what's shown we need to know the exact browser, browser version, Android version and device the screenshot is for. It would also be immensely helpful to have the URL for the page, so we can attempt to reproduce what you're seeing and view the exact code involved.

Problem with lenght of text and footer elements displaced (bug?)

I have a problem with the footer of my pages. The footer is composed with elements of the master page and two elements that are page dependant so these elements are defined in each page. All the elements in the footer are marked as page footer elements so they should appear below the main content of the page and all in the same position relative to each other.
But the truth is the main content extends below the top of the footer overlapping it and the page dependant elements of the footer are displaced in the same amount and so these elements do not match in the space reserved for them in the footer.
I think the problem is caused by the text box in the main content being displayed with a bigger height than it appears in the editor. Even worse: every web browser shows the text with a different height so the footer elements all appear displaced differently. I have tried to define the height of the text in pixels (px) instead of percentage (%) but the result is the same. But even with this indetermination, the footer should always appear below the main content and not overlaping (or overlaped) by it, so either this is a bug or I am doing something wrong.
Here is how i see the page in the editor. The grayed out keywords and the "UK Photographers" link of the footer are in the current page. All other elements of the footer (horizontal line(rectangle of 1px height), "facebook - links - contact" links and Copyright notice) are in the master page:
This is how the page appears in Firefox 15 with the text zoom set to default. notice how the footer elements that are defined in the current page appear overlaping those defined in the master page (there should be a 27px space between the end of the text and the horizontal line) and moved down in the same amount than the main content exceeds the footer limit:

I am able to repro this on my end as well. Seems like a bug that we will be fixing in a future release.
Work around would be to make sure that the footer item on the individual pages are above the ones from the master page or put everything on the master page or the individual page.

Mavericlks Spelling and Grammar works in Pages when used manually. And it works automatically in Text and email.

Another autocorrect bug:
I type a lot of lyrics, which tend to cotain words like ’cause and ’em instead of because and them.
I've set up autocorrect instances to change a plain apostrophe with an ending, single curly quote for these words, but they are invariably changed to a beginning, single curly quote mark by Pages. The only way I can get the correct curly quote is to type over the wrong quote manually and hope that I don't have to edit the rest of the word again, as this would cause autocorrect to kick in again and change the quote to the wrong, beginning curly mark again.
Does anyone know how to get around this tedious problem?

Problems Aligning Text in Headers and Footers

I have tried to add headers and footers to documents and the alignment is wrong. The center footer/header should be center-aligned and the right header/footer should be right-aligned. Unfortunately, they are both left-aligned.
The preview shows the headers and footers aligned correctly, but when the headers/footers are inserted in the document, the alignment reverts to left aligned, although it is centered and on the right side of the page, as appropriate.
This is not a problem in Acrobat 7.
Please advise if this is a bug and is awaiting an update, or if there is something that I need to do to fix this problem.

Nope. The good folks at Adobe have neither addressed this issue (and I have
heard from others that it is a problem for them as well) nor have they been
very good about maintaining my account to be able to log in and follow up on
it.
The truth of the matter is that it appears to be a glitch in some, but not
all, versions of this product and clearly it is not a big enough problem for
them to want to fix it.
I wind up using Acrobat 7 when I need properly formatted headers and footers
or and this ought to get the attention of the folks at Adobe and maybe
prompt someone (anyone!) to take a look and fix this glitch you should
check out PDFPen. It does much of what Adobe can do including headers and
footers.
If I didn't already have Acrobat 7 (and 8 and now 9), I would ditch Acrobat
and just use Preview or PDFPen.
