Problems iSync'ing my Ti PowerBook G4 with my Nokia N73?

Can anyone help me iSync my Ti PowerBook (OS 10.3.9) with my new Nokia N73 mobile phone? My mobile doesn't show up when I 'Add devices' in iSync.

Leopard's iSync & Nokia N73

Hi,
I used Leopard's (10.5.1) iSync flawlessly with my Nokia N73. But, when I upgraded N73's firmware to the 4.0735.3.0.2 version, iSync can't connect with N73.
I've tried to delete and recreate the pair between my MacBook Pro and the Nokia and it can't finish linking, with an infinite "Desovering device's services".

I upgraded my firmware on the N73 before seeing this thread & now have lost Bluetooth connectivity too. It seems like Nokia are aware of the problem but putting their fingers in their ears & risking the migration of a whole lot of Mac users...

Offline mode problem nokia N73

Hello, I have a problem with my Nokia N73, after having passed in Offline mode, it is impossible to change it. I carried out a hard reset by *#7370#, the phone posts general mode, but when i wants to connect to the network it posts phone in Offilne mode. I have try an firmware update using PC suite, but thephone must be in general mode before this operation can be carried out. what can i proceed. right now it is impossible to use my phone.

I am now on my 7th N73!
Yes, I am probably mad still giving this phone a go, but I Like the phone, so I keep giving it another go! (plus the fact that I cant find any other phone on the market right now that I really like)
My network operator has been great, and has always replaced it for me every time I have had problems, but I must say it is now getting a bit too much.
The last one I had, I got 2 weeks ago, and was a brand new one with the latest s/w update.
First time I put it into OFFLINE mode, it refused to change back to normal. (this was a new problem I did not have with the first 5 handsets so I have a feeling its a problem with the latest s/w)
a week ago I had it replaced once again with a brand new one.
Went away, and put it into OFFLINE mode again while on the plane, and guess what? it refused to change again.
Nothing helps; I have tried taking the battery out, taking the sim card in and out, nothing!!!!
Now they want to give me an N93, but it seems way to large to me, plus it probably has the same problem, using the same operation system.

Nokia N73 theme installation problem

Im new user of N73, initially i had install a handphone theme call "Full Form" provided the N73's cd. But after i changed a new MiniSD card, i failed to install back the theme. Anyone can provide this solution?

Professional Calibration for the Powerbook Pro with LED Monitor

This is what I have discovered: The new LED monitor/screen is a better technology for graphics pros because it's brighter, doesn't need to warm up like CRT and LCD, and it's more efficient. I have also discovered that the current Powerbook Pro with LED is not possible to calibrate with a spyder-type device because the computer itself doesn't allow the user to control overall R G and B levels at all...so as to achieve a prcise initial white point setup. Once RGB levels are balanced, only then can a spyder with it's assoc software continue it's recordings with precision. Other problems exist: Apparently the graphics cards in the Powerbook Pro (I have the newest machine, bought Nov 2008, with LED screen) are not able to permit any software (like Monaco Optix) from adjusting the brightness or color levels. As well, to my knowledge, there are not currently any spyders with software which offers LED as an option initially. I tried setting it to LED and LCD with my LED monitor, just to see the difference....and there was a huge one...so it's futile even to use the spyder if the software hasn't been developed with the LED screens in mind.
*What I did was this: I calibrated my LaCie electronBlueIV 22" professional monitor with the sypder...using Monaco Optix and it's XR spyder. Once that was established, I opened a photoshop sample image which has a blue sky, green pine trees, green/yellow grass, a red boat and some white snowcapped peaks. Made a duplicate of it....and placed one copy on the LaCie and the other on my powerbook's monitor just below (I'm running 2 monitors at the same time). Then I went through the "professional" mode of Apple's calibrator. Unfortunately it's not an exact science as one might think. No, you can't work it back and forth until the colors match because of certain ways in which Apple has made their calibrator function. For example, you only set the degrees kelvin at the end...which totally changes all the color levels you have done up until that point....it's complicated to explain, but if you go through it once, you will understand what I'm talking about. Anyhow, so what I did was go through it all the way.....then right before saving the profile....I would go back again (you can go backwards and forwards and it keeps the adjustments you've made already...luckily) and tweak these various adjustments...all the while...*keeping an eye on my 2 images...trying to nudge my powerbook colors/brightness/contrast as close as possible to my calibrated LaCie. Finally, I used the final adjustment (D50/5500/D65 etc....) to put some more warmth into the powerbook's monitor which seems to be much too cold if you only use the calibrator and have no other monitor for reference. I set mine around 5,200......when normally I would be at 5,500 with any other monitor.
It seems I did get my LED monitor pretty close to the values of my calibrated LaCie....as close as I could visually...considering, to my knowledge, there is no current device/software that will calibrate this LED monitor. We're waiting!!

For years you are aware that it is the creative professionals (photographers, graphic designers, visual artists, printers, architects, etc...) who have been the loyal backbone of your small market share. We have been the ones investing and reinvesting in Apple computers and peripherals since the beginning...before the ipod and the iphone when all of the other yahoos jumped onboard. Also please understand...we love the new generation of powerbooks but we're tired of having to drag around an extra monitor to insure correct colors for printing/color-matching. I'm a professional photographer who is always traveling internationally...and away from my calibrated monitor in my office. Yet, many times I have to retouch on the go and get the images to my clients..and it's just not possible to work on a calibrated monitor at these moments. Yet my work is precise work and the color values are critical to my clients in the world of fashion and beauty.
Realizing this point.....knowing your core clients are concerned with critical color values....why is it that you continue to create portables with absolutely no precise color controls?!!!!!!!! Would it be so difficult to add a utility which allows the user to digitally control RGB levels, contrast, and brightness (withe their associated numeric levels, (for example: brightness=78.3%.) As well, your own calibration assistant..."professional" mode??? HARDLY. Why not build onto this model with another mode...let's call it "super professional" mode (lol) which allows us to access overall RG&B....as well as brightness and even contrast???
That's what I know at this stage. If anyone has any advice which adds to what I have said, or maybe someone can educate me with a more accurate way to calibrate my monitor....I'm all ears...and I'm sure I'm not alone in this quagmire.

I've had the same concerns about the lack of any monitor controls (unless there's something I'm missing), but afraid I don't have any answers myself yet. Just wanted to ask do you mean "Powerbook Pro" or are you talking about a MacbookPro?

Powerbook pismo with OS 10.4.9 not display battery time

I was very curious why my newly upgraded powerbook pismo (400 MHz, 1 MB, 55 GB drive, firewire, etc) would no longer display "time remaining" when on battery or external voltage.
I was getting very close to ordering another battery (6600 mAH) for $150 but decided to do some research first. Lo & behold on the archives there were 30 entries about the same problem on OS 10.4. So in a nutshell, a powerbook pismo with OS 10.4 will not display battery time remaining no matter how many brand new batteries you mail order.
I'll learn how to use system profiler more often (remaining capacity mAh/amperage = time remaining).

There's nothing at all wrong with preferring APpleWorks and wanting to continue using it. It's a bit unfashionable these days, but there are many people who have discovered how powerful, flexible and easy it is to use and continue to use it despite the development of alternatives!
Of course, it does have the drawback of not being intel native, so performance on intel-based Macs will be relatively poor in comparison to iWork, but if that doesn't cause you any problems in use, then it's purely a matter of what you want to use not what anyone else thinks is appropriate!
That said, what exactly is the problem? Can you scroll by clicking the scroll arrows and dragging the scroll bar, but not by using the mouse wheel?

FCE 4 with Powerbook G4 with Canon HV30 HDV Camcorder

Just enquiring if it will be possible to work together a combination of Powerbook G4 with memory of 1.25GB and 1.33 GHz PowerPC G4 Processor, together with FCE 4. Also adding into the mix the new HDV Canon HV30.
Have previously been using an SD camcorder with the G4 and iMovie HD to produce a few movies/DVDs, but now want to upgrade to the Canon HV30. I am concerned that the Canon may not be compatible with using the iMovie HD, so am considering FCE 4, but am also concerned that this may not run well on the G4 and may also not run together well with the Canon.
The G4 is still fine so don't really want to have to buy a new laptop as well as a new camera.
Am a bit new to all this so any help/suggestions much appreciated.

FCE 4 will work well on your computer ........ look at what I'm using.
The only slight problem is that you may not be able to access the new FxPlug filters but as many of them are like the old FxScript ones, it shouldn't be too much to do without.
I can't comment on the camera though I would have thought it to be OK. HDV may be a bit of a strain with your old Mac.

Powerbook crashes with DSL modem voyager 105

Hi,
I use a Voyager 105 USB modem for broadband access. About every second or third time I use this, my Powerbook crashes with kernel panic and requires a reboot. Any ideas how to solve that?

As suggested by Daniel and Gareth, USB modems like the Voyager can be prone to driver issues. Problems can sometimes be resolved through updated drivers from the manufacturer.
However the best way to resolve the problem is to invest in an ethernet modem/router instead as these do not require any drivers. Most of them also allow you to share the internet connection with other computers on the network.
Assuming you are UK-based, there are many vendors who can supply perfectly capable ethernet-based products for comparatively low cost. Amongst them are ADSL Nation and DSL Source (I have no affiliation to either of them except being a customer).
You can also get further information on ADSL products and services from ADSLguide, which also has a dedicated Apple section (with some very helpful and knowledgeable people) on their discussions forum.

PowerBook G4 With No OS

Hello, I recently came across a 2001 Titanium PowerBook G4. I booted it up to the floder with the question mark, and out of querosity used linux on a cd to see if it would boot up to linux. But to my dismay the disk drive does not want to accept the disk and just spits it back out! So whats my next option? I have heard of Target Disk Mode, but I dont know what to do to start that process. I have a MacBook Pro 13", and a 2005 Dual PowerMac G5. Would any of these work in Target Disk Mode? PS I was hoping to use 10.3 but how would 10.4 work on this laptop?

400MHZ PowerPc G4
512MB of Ram
3.5 GIG HDD (40-80 GIG HDD's are cheap now days, not a problem)

1. The PowerMac will work with Target Disk mode. Connect them with a FireWire cable and start up the PowerBook G4 with the T key held down.
2. Mac OS X 10.3 and 10.4 will work on the PowerBook.

When i press command+I (Get Info) i see that there is 140 GB "Available Space" on my hard disk but when i click on my hard disk icon on the desktop, and then press "space" i only see 102 GB free!! What the f*???

I have the same problem recently. I bought my nokia 3220, 3 years ago and all was ok but now I download some free themes from a web site and suddenly I realized that my cellphone has less memory. In the phone options says that I have 2,2 MB in my Gallery when actually I have only 800 KB in my Gallery. I don't know what happen!! Maybe it's a virus or what is the solution?? Problem with Installing Nokia Ovi Store in E51

This means that the Ovi Store is currently installed in your E52 phone, what I can suggest is try checking under Application Manager > Installed Application, check if the Ovi Store is there. If you can't see it, try to perform the soft reset (press *#7780# on the main screen of the phone and it will prompt you restore all original phone settings? phone will restart. Press YES and it will ask you for the lock code 12345.) If anything else please reply to this message.

This means I can't use the computer anymore. How do I fix? I tried using the Command+F2 keyboard shortcut, but it doesnt' work. It's possible that since I reinstalled the OS, it still needs to be set up, so there's only a welcome screen (but since I can't see it I'm not sure).
