Problems launching photoshop - can anyone help?
It was fine on Saturday and I haven't done much with one my mac since then. Then today photoshop wont open up. This is the report :

Firefox frequently 'not responding' having auto-installed version 10 yesterday. No previous problems. Have disabled all plugins and uninstalled and then re-installed Firefox several times today. Why it's like that I don't think that Apple have said (these are user-to-user forums). If you haven't downloaded it on your iPad then have you checked to see if you can download it on your computer's iTunes (Store > Check For Available Downloads menu option) or Apple TV ?
If it doesn't show on either of them then you can try contacting iTunes Support and see if they will let you download it on a different computer/device or refund or credit you : http://reportaproblem.apple.com

Ok... the problem is... my computer doesn't shut Off! I've installed the Windows Xp and SP2 from new, bu when I'm choosing the option "Shut Down" win windows, the pc shutt down only 3 seconds!!!

Check your power button connector to the mobo and see if it was fixed properly or you can try turning the connector 180 degrees around and fix it in and see if the same problem replicates.
Next you can also try to clear CMOS.

My 27" Imac (A1312/EMC2390) keeps shutting down unexpectedly with no warning or "screen of death". So far I reset the SMC, and zapped the PRAM. I even replaced the power supply but the problem continues. My error and system logs seem unhelpful too. Can anyone help me out?
You can get a shutdown like that if the computer gets too hot. Make sure the air intakes on the bottom and the exhaust vent on the top are clean and are not blocked by something in your workspace like papers or the back of the computer being too close to part of the furniture. You need a good six inches (15cm) of clearance between the exhaust slot and other objects or surfaces.
Anti-virus/internet security software, especially the "pay for" kinds, can increase operating temps. So can third-party backup software furnished with many "name-brand" external hard drives.
Fan motors and/or temperature sensors can fail. If you have the original grey disks that shipped with your iMac, find the on that has Apple Hardware Test (AHT) and run it. If you have a failed heat sensor or fan motor, it will detect it with an error code containing "SNS" if it's a bad sensor or "MOT" if its a bad fan motor.

I plugged in my Iphone 3g into Itunes to update some music and it will stay connected for about a minute or so and then it will all of a sudden get disconnected without me touching the usb cable. I updated my Iphone and Itunes so everything is up to date. I tried turning off my iphone for several minutes then starting the process again but the same thing happens. Can anyone give me a suggestion or is anyone having the same problems?

30-40 Bounces to launch Safari--can anyone help??
I have 10.4.6 on a 17" Powerbook and Safari is taking 30-40 bounces to launch. This started about two months ago....I know this isn't normal because on my dual G5 it takes only about 2-3 bounces. Also, in general, safari seems to take a long time to render a very simple page....if anyone could help me I would be so thankful!

Do you have internet apps SpeedDownload, iGetter, PithHelmet, Acid Search, Safari Enhancer ? Or Norton or Virex? Sometimes non-apple internet apps need updating or uninstalling. If you do, let us know which ones and which version, please.
Have you done these?
1. Empty your cache & History settings via the Safari menu
2. Trash your Icons Folder:
HD>Users>Home>YourName>Library>Safari -->Icons
Restart Safari and a new folder will be automatically regenerated.
(This folder saves favicons of all the sites you visit. Needs cleaning periodically -- or you can change that file's preferences to "Read Only"
rather than "Read & Write." This will keep it from growing in size.)
3. Launch Font Book and check all fonts for duplicates. A duplicated font will have a bullet beside the font family and you can resolve duplicates by selecting the font and at the menu bar, go to Edit > Resolve Duplicates.
Do this for each font with a bullet next to it.
If you're still having problems:
4. Shut down your computer . . . unplug the computer, modem, and router, if you have one. Let everything sit for 2-3 minutes. Plug everything back in, start up your modem & router, then restart your computer.

A couple of days ago I installed Mavericks on top of my existing Mountain Lion OS. Not before I backed up the ML version with Time Machine, though.... :-)
Initially I thought everthing was fine, but then started to notice a few things that bothered me, which have not gone away. In fact, I think this install is now a potential problem. Unlike many other people, elsewhere on this forum, I have not noticed the calamitous slowing down and general unusability of Mavericks. I'm using a prety new i7 iMac ( the new flat one) with 32 GB of RAM.Everytihng worked great with Mountain Lion. However, The following anomalies have cropped up: Mail is taking over 30" to send a simple email. In ML it was almost instantaneous. I feel that Mail is not performing as it did in ML, and the same goes for Safari. It "feels" odd and slow and can take an age to load up pages. In fact one particular page would not load properly at all, but worked fine in Firefox. In the end got it to work in Sfari, but ithis type of behaviour doesn't instill confidence. Things got wierder...
An update to iMovie got " stuck" in the dowload process,and was perpetually downloading in Launchpad. It kept oscillating from approx 61 MB to aprrox 84 MB of a 1.94 GB file. Then I did a disk utiltiy test of my system drive and it suddenly stated that the drive need repairing. I booted up in Recovery Mode and tested the drive, which came back all clear! I booted up normally again and now the disk utility won't even complete a full diagnosis of the drive!It will diagnos all my other drives fine though.... :-s It keeps getting stuck on: Checking Volume Bitmap, and won't go any further. So, I did what some other person did on another thread, which seemed to clear up his problems; namely: simply reinstalled Mavericks from Recovery mode. This did not improve anything for me. The same issues remain. In fact as I type this, I notice that I'm using nearly 23 GB of my 32 GB of RAM, and all I have open is Safari, Disk Utility and Mail ! To quote Hans Solo: " I've got a b-a-a-a-d feeling about this..."
So, this is my long-winded way of asking: what shall I do? I would like to boot in Recovery Mode and reinstall my back up from an external drive. Does anyone have any advice about this,please? If I restore from my backup, will I actually get the ML OS back on the computer, or will I be stuck with Mavericks trying to impose itself ,as some people reported? I do want to use Mavericks, but not in the condition it's in right now. Also, really don't want to perfom a clean install and migrate everything over from the Time Machine back up....
Thanks for any advice.I don't think that a software update from Apple will solve the issues that you are having. You have a rogue installation. After you posted I have just done the following:
Disk Utility can verify my partitioned Volume (including my boot disk) AND REPAIR the non-boot disks on the same Volume without a glitch. It repairs the non-boot disks containing data smoothly.
I have used Mail to send some mails from some Yahoo and Hotmail accounts to my Thunderbird client containing GMail accounts - absolutely normal.
I have iLife '09 but my iMovie '09 and iPhoto '09 open in a jiffy and I see no issues here. I have 6GB RAM (Maximum) on an early 2008 Macbook Pro with a 750GB hard drive partitioned with 120GB reserved for the Boot Drive.
I am sorry that I cannot help further but I am sure there must be a way to reinstall the software without having to revert to restoring your ML backup. I have two clones and if you have such I would attempt to do that through that rather than through Time Machine - that is of course if you have a cloned drive.

Start by going to the add/remove control panel. Then go to start>search>for files and folders, all files and folders. And click on More advanced options and put checks in- Search system folders,Search hidden files and folders,Search subfolders. Now do a search for QuickTime, and delete what was left over after using the add/remove programs.
Download a new QT installer and run it. If it don't install post back and I'll go thru this with you, If you want, untill it installs. -

I have a iBook G4 and a first-generation iPod. I purchased 2 lengthy audio books from the iTunes store and synchronized them to my iPod.
When the books play on the iPod, the sound is garbled. It is like 2 voices are interposed, one on top of another. This problem does not manifest when the audio book is played on the mac.
I can't burn the audio books to a CD, because each section is over an hour long, and iTunes won't let me. Basically, I'm running into a DRM problem of some kind, and Apple support refuses to answer my emails.
Has anyone had this happen? Any ideas? Standard mp3 audio books work fine when synchronized with the iPod.

The Math.random() is a static method that returns a double value with a positive sign, greater than or equal to 0.0 and less than 1.0.
It does not return an array or a int. If you use the Math.random method, you will have to cast your double into an int. Also you need to create a for loop to fill your array and add code to check that the value returned from the Math.random method has not already been used. -
Problem with Archboot - can anyone help?
Right now there is a huge problem with Archboot's installer. During an install, packages' install scripts invariably fail to work properly. Two of them give an error about /bin/true not existing; udev's install script claims that /sbin/migrate-udev isn't there; perl's borks with a string of errors related to the symlinking it's supposed to do - it doesn't see the directories that it's supposed to create symlinks to.
This is quite a bit like what I saw with archbootstrap, so I think it may be a chroot-related issue, but if anyone has any clue as to the cause, please tell...
(And while we're at it, try Archboot when you get the chance. 8) )My larch scripts do a very 'straight' from-nothing-up installation, as also is the case in my 'newarch' script for a sort-of bootstrap installation - see http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Qui … stallation (I've just updated it).
The only really noticeable error is two "install script couldn't find /bin/true" failures, both for 'db' (its pre- and its post-install scripts, gcc hasn't got an install script), and I am pretty sure these are no problem at all.
Otherwise, the creation of kernel26.img seems not to work properly, but this is also no big deal - you can use kernel26-fallback.img and regenerate the former when you boot into the new system.
I built a larch CD a few days ago with all the latest stuff, and it works fine. Congratulations to the devs on making the recent migrations so smooth! -
Another "can't connect" problem... can anyone help?
My wife and I have been iChating with our daughter, who is in a dorm room, with no problems... until now. We get the "invite declined" screen or "failed to accept." It does not work either with AIM or a .mac account. It works fine within my own home network.

If on your Mac in System Preferences > Network > Airport > TCP/IP tab you see
your IP as 10.0.1.2
And it says +Using DHCP+ then we can safely assume that the Airport is issuing IP addresses (DHCP)
Now in Applications/Utilities you will find the Airport Admin Utility
This will let you access your Airport's set up screens.
In the Internet tab you will see similar info to the System Preferences but for the Airport to Modem connection.
Sprint does not appear as a Brand of Modem or router in this list http://portforward.com/routers.htm so I presume this is your ISP.
WE will need to the make and model they have given you.
The IP that shows as the "Router" IP in the Airport will be the IP you can use in a web browser but most likely you will need a User ID and Password as well.
This is why we send people tot he Port Forward site as part of the info there is the Default Access info.
If you find yours and use the info in a web browser you then need to find out if the device does UPnP.

Really Strange Airport Problem...Can Anyone Help?
We have 3 Macs in the house and two Xboxes using Airport. Everything works fine.
Tonight, for some bizarre reason, two of the Macs lost their connection to the home Airport network. The Xbox still connects fine (and is the farthest away!), the Macs say they can't connect.
I've restarted the modem, and Airport, and the Macs. Still the same.
Is there any way this can be a Bellsouth problem (my carrier)...?

TomI am having a similar problem as of late. I purchased my MacBook in November 2009 along with a Time Capsule. Never had a problem connecting wirelessly. But, over the past 60 days, my MB has been either losing it's connection to the TC or is connected to my wireless network but not seeing an IP address. I have two PC's that are connected wirelessly and have internet connection when my MB does not. I can, however, gain internet access via plugging into the ethernet port. I have checked and rechecked the settings and have all updates. In the beginning, all I had to do was to turn off the Airport on my MB and turn it back on. I would reconnect. Then, when that stopped working, I had to reboot my MB to reconnect. Now, I have to reboot my TC so my MB can reconnect. I get the feeling that the Airport on my MB is failing. Any suggestions?

I tried the obvious link last night but the download only asked for the premiere serial number not the photoshop serial number and cannot seem to find another one -am I doing something wrong?

Why won't ATV play HD video from iMovie?
This question incorporates two different systems (ATV and Imovie) but I thought I would start here. ATV will play HD movies rented through Itunes. Why then can I not Save/Export movies from Imovie in HD and view them on ATV? Any thoughts? Thanks, Eh
