Problems loading Elements 10 editor workspace on Windows 8

I recently reinstalled Elements 10 on my new Windows 8 laptop, but can't get the editor workspace to load. I get the message: unable to continue because of a hardware or system error. Sorry but this error is unrecoverable.
I contacted Adobe chat support, but they were unable to resolve the issue. Does anyone else have a solution?

The laptop is a 64 bit. As far as I can tell the installation was complete - the icon appeared on the desktop and opens the welcome screen. The only option I have when I run setup.exe is to uninstall the program. I tried to install it on another laptop running Windows 7 to see if the problem might be with the laptop running Windows 8, but I came up with the same message: "unable to continue because of a hardware or system error. Sorry but this error is unrecoverable."
Re. your previous question about PhototshopElementsEditor.exe. Would it be possible to copy it from my PC to the laptop?

I have a very similar problem.
Elements 10 Editor fails to open.  I do not get any error codes simply the message that reads "Adobel Photoshop Elements 10 has stopped working.  A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.  Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available".    (Seen that message lots of times in various programs, can't recall Windows ever getting back to me with a solution so I'm not holding my breath that I will ever get notified of a solution, but I digress).
I tried reinstalling Elements (and Premier as I have the dual package programs), uninstalled by clicking on Install on the DVD (strange way to get the uninstall to work but thats how it is).  I understand this way is best so I don't lose the ability to reinstall the program due to limited number of installs.  I reinstalled.  Same error.  Repeated the uninstall and then this time also went to Control Panel and uninstalled everything with Adobe in the name.  Reboot, re-install retry, no effect same erro.  Repeat the above two uninstalling processes and then this time to into the Registry and remove all reference to Adobe Elements (and was surprised by how many references to Elements continued to exist even after the un-installing.  Thought this would work.  I was wrong.  After the reinstall I get exactly the same error. I tried to watch when Elements Editor tries to open to see if I could read what it is doing when it fails, it seems to fail just as the window opens after its run through all those things it loads in the blue window.  The blue window disappears, the gray window opens, and then crash.
I have tried each of the solutions offered above to the OP.  I don't see any reply indicating it worked for him either.
Funny thing is that Elements 10 used to work on this Windows 8 system  (FYI it is Windows 8 Pro edition, 64bit).  I've had to reinstall Windows 8 a few times since I 'up'-graded to Windows 8 in the fall, it seems to be a rather fragile OS, previous re-installs did not hurt Elements 10, but this most recent one did.
Is there a patch to improve Elements 10's compatibility with Windows 8?
Is there a setting in Windows 8 that is more Elements 10 friendly?

  • Problems launching Elements 11 Editor

Hi, Is anyone else having a problem opening elements 11 editor? It only appears to have been happening since the advert for elements 12 has come up.
All I get is a Runtime Error! message, stating This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Andaleeb,
Many thanks for your reply... I lost patience with it yesterday and uninstalled and reinstalled it which seems to have cleared the problem for now.
I don't really know too much about computers, but I have an older version of Adobe Elements also installed on this computer and I was wondering if maybe that has been interfering with launching Elements 11 Editor?
Anyway, Thanks again for your advice.... I've made a note of it ..... so if it happens again I'll try your way of correcting it.

  • Photoshop Elements 13 Editor workspace won't launch

Hi, I have recently downloaded Elements 13 for my windows 8 64 bit PC. I can launch the organiser ok but when I try to launch the Editor it asks me to sign in, this then comes up with the licensing window and when I accept, I get the message launching editor workspace, this stays on for a few seconds before disappearing with nothing happening. If I try again, the same thing happens. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software to no avail
    Please help

    Hi,
Can you please share the logs?
You can use the Adobe  Log Collector tool (Log Collector Tool) and share the corresponding zip file @ [email protected]

  • Elements 10 Editor Workspace

    Hi
I just wondered if there is a way to ensure that when you've added/ removed and moved panels around Elements 10 Editor panel bin etc that they will stay there when you next open the program after a computer shutdown?
I see in the adobe help with workspaces that it refers to
"Note:  If you want panels to always open in their default positions in the Edit workspace, choose Edit > Preferences > General in Windows (Photoshop Elements > Preferences > General in Mac), and then deselect Save Panel Locations. The change takes effect the next time you start the application."
I checked to make sure that this option isn't deselected but found that I don't seem to have this option! So I presumed that my new workspace layout would just stay there - but it didn't!
    Any clues?
    Thanks
    CK

No, that's pretty much it.  What I did was not to drag them to their positions, but rather start with none of them showing and then use "Window" on the main menu bar to show each one in turn in the order that I wanted to have them displayed.
If that doesn't work for you, you can always re-set the Preferences:  Hold down the Ctrl+Alt+Shift keys when starting the Editor and answer "Yes" to the prompt about deleting the Preferences.  They will be re-built.  Often that cures anomalies in PSE.

  • Frequent  crashes in Photoshop Elements 13 Editor on a Windows 8 PC

Photoshop Elements 13 Editor crashes often. Can someone help?

if you follow all 7 steps you can directly download a trial here:  Adobe Photoshop Elements 13 Direct Download Links, Premiere too | ProDesignTools
and activate with your serial number.
if you have a problem starting the download, you didn't follow all 7 steps, or your browser does not accept cookies.
the most common problem is caused by failing to meticulously follow steps 1,2 and/or 3 (which adds a cookie to your system enabling you to download the correct version from adobe.com).
failure to obtain that cookie results in an error page being displayed after clicking a link on prodesigntools.com or initiates the download of an incorrect (eg, current) version.
or this is the download site using the akamai download manager, www.adobe.com/cfusion/tdrc/index.cfm?product=premiere_elements

  • Problems loading Elements 10 -

it had been working fine this morning, now it won't open.
Organiser seems to be working ok.

It says that Runtime has tried to close the program in an unusual way. Windows looks for a solution, but then closes the program. It was the same whichever way I opened it.
This morning I can't open Organiser either. I had reset the setting to open Organiser rather than the welcome screen, as that was  the only way I could get to Organiser otherwise. It takes forever to load, then I get this error message
    [Window Title]
    Elements 10 Organizer
    [Main Instruction]
Elements 10 Organizer is not responding
    [Content]
Windows is checking for a solution to the problem...
    [Cancel]
    and it closes down.
I hope the next response is a little swifter than the last. I am in the middle of an important project. I have an unusable project and it's impossible to contact someone.

  • Problem printing elements 12 to epson r1800 windows 8.1

I have  been successfully using PSE to print to epson  with windows xp and windows 8.1.  I got a new computer (HP i7) also 8.1 and now the color and lighting are awful.  I have taken all the usual steps (color management, printer head cleaning and alignment, updated drivers and icc profiles) and nothing works.  When I print to a general purpose canon printer, however, the photos are near perfect.  Anyone else have this issue?  I am about ready to give the printer to someone or organization and get a new canon wide format photo printer.

    a. Premiere Elements needs to be run on your computer from a User Account with Administrative Privileges. QuickTime (latest version) is
a requirement for Premiere Elements, and both require being used from a User Account with Administrative Privileges.
I do have administrative priveledges on that particular computer.  I  have also checked that QuickTime is installed.
    b. Your school district computer probably has security means (antivirus, firewall(s), special protection programs) which are interfering
with Premiere Elements accessing needed files.
This could be an issue; however, Adobe Elements 12 ran just perfectly all last year.  It was not until I started this year that it was giving me issues.  Even before we upgraded to 8.1, it was not working at the beginning of this year.  Again, though, it worked just fine on our system from January until May.
Do you have an IT specialist who maintains your school network? If so, would it be possible for you to consult with that person to
    evaluate "a" and "b"?
I will have my IT guy continue to pursue the problems.  I have spent hours and followed every little suggestion and link...sigh...all of the step by steps that were provided were excellently done, they just didn't solve any of the problems.  thanks!

  • Problem loading element from a xmlHttpRequest

I must be losing my mind... But this is what I am facing:
I have a site that's basically built around the xmlHttpRequest object.
Homepage --> xmlHttpRequest --> loads pageA.php into element of Homepage
Homepage loads pageA.php to populate a tag. Once pageA.php is loaded, a user can make another xmlHttpRequest call to load another page to populate another element within the "pageA.php" page.
pageA.php (now within homepage) --> xmlHttpRequest --> loads pageB.php into element of pageA.php
This is when sh*t hit the fan... Safari (as well as Shiira, which uses Safari's rendering engine as I understand it... but strangely, Camino takes it ok) complains with an error "TypeError - null value". Has anyone had this kind of problem happened to them before?
My initial guess is that when is loaded, Safari is actually blind to it. So when pageA.php makes the xmlHttpRequest call to the server to populate it, Safari thinks that never existed and complains that it's a null value...
Any help/suggestion/workaround or just a rebuttal theory (or to correct my baseless assumption) is welcome...

I was having a similar problem. Are you using innerHTML or appending a childNode? I was appending a childNode each time but trying to use the same ID without deleting the first one. Here is how I solved mine with some help from ##javascript on freenode.
    var removeMe = document.getElementById('someID');
    if(removeMe){ removeMe.parentNode.removeChild(removeMe); }
then proceed with your ajax routine.

  • Organizer problems with Elements 12---running a PC windows 7 ---cannot set up new places subcategory and elements does not recognize that I am on the internet

Has anyone had similar problems to the above and what is the fix??
    Thanks

The fix was to completely remove all Apple Software following guides in previous posts.
Then download and re-install latest iTunes 64-bit, making sure to Run As Administrator.
This fixed it. Now the next thing seems to be that as I move from one device to another to close and restart iTunes between each one. Treat it gently. It seems to break easily and a lot.

If you go to the Desktop app, then to the File Explorer icon in its taskbar, then right click Computer to select Properties, what do you see for:
    Windows Edition
    and
    System
If you have Windows 8 64 bit, you should see that. If you have 32 bit Windows 8, the System reading should tell you that.
When you talk about software box are you referring to the box that the disc came packaged in.
If you have Windows 8 32 bit, then your Premiere Elements 11 will install as a 32 bit application running in the 32 bit compatibility mode of a 64 bit application and will have all the resource limitations of a 32 bit system. If you have Windows 8 64 bit, using that same installation disc, you should then have Premiere Elements 11 as a 64 bit application running of 64 bit system, capable of taking advantage of the 64 bit resources. Although I do not believe this to be linked to your Shared Technologies install issue, this detail should be clarified.
Have you read through all the varied fixes suggested for your type of problem. One of them will work. Which one for you is the question.
We will be watching for further developments.
    Thanks.

When you click on the Playclaw's Encoder tab, what do you see in the next dialog for Video Compression when the Container field in that dialog is set to .avi?
Since you are seeing some video at all in Premiere Elements (glitchy as it is), I am assuming the video compression is not AVCHD. If that were the case, I would expect you not to be able to import the file at all. By any chance is the video compression Xvid or DivX?
It appears that Video compression could also be "H.264 Intel QuickSync" with a mkv file extension. That seems ruled out since you say your file extension is .avi and not mkv.
So, with the .avi file extension
what is listed as Video Compression and what have you done, if anything, under the Encoder Setup button?
Do you have the same issues with and without the antivirus and firewall(s) disabled?
Also, if you took footage that worked before in Premiere Elements back into today's Premiere Elements, problems or no problems?
At this time, can you import a bunch of jpg photos into a project and work without this type of issue?
    Thanks.

can someone help me with this issue?

Two suggestions:  the first one is a workaround. You just have to drill down your program file tree to Adobe Photoshop Elements Organizer and find the .exe file - the one specifically for Organizer, not Elements.  Make a shortcut to that file on your desktop and it will open Organizer. The second suggestion resolved the problem altogether for me. I actually called Dell and after working with several different techs over several different days, I talked to a tech in premium support who was excellent. I discovered from them that it is actually a problem with the windows system files. I have 8.1.  I went through a "refresh" on my computer which rebuilt all the files. Then reinstalled Adobe as well as my other programs again and Photoshop Elements Organizer works from the standard desktop shortcut.

  • Following Windows Update, Photoshop elements 10 editor fails to start.  Can I Uninstall and then reinstall without loosing any catalogues?

Using Windows 7 Home, and until today have had no problems.
Windows deleted a whole load of files and now I have problems opening Elements editor.
Is it safe to simply uninstall Elements and then reinstall?

Thanks Jeff.  I will install from disc 2 but presumably first i need to uninstall my first attempt (from Disc 1).  However, will uninstalling the product use up one of the licenses as I would like to install on two computers and I don't want to use up both licenses on the same computer.  I have read on this forum about the need to de-activate the program before uninstalling but some clarification on what "de-activating" actually does would be welcome.  Could someone please confirm the steps I need to take to solve this problem.  As I understand it I need to 1) de-activate the first incorrect install (from disc 1), 2) uninstall the product and 3) re-install using disc 2 and then disc 4.  It seems discs 1, 3 & 5 are not needed for my install of Photoshop Elements 10 and Premier Elements 10 on a Windows 7 64 bit computer.
Following these steps will use up one of my licenses (hopefully not both) and I can then install the programme on my desktop for my second license.
Comments / suggestions welcome and appreciated.  Thanks
