Problems loading iTunes on XP

I previously loaded iTunes on my Dell, Windows XP for my visiting brother using his software and it worked fine.
He left and I uninstalled the old iTunes/Quicktime from my computer.
I bought a nano and tried to load the iTunes software from the disc. The process goes through and the icon appears on my desk top but when I try to open it nothing happens. I have tried troubleshooting from apple.com. I have unistalled all iTunes programs, deleted from program files, used Windows Installed Cleanup, downloaded the web versions and standalone Quicktime, disabled antivirus etc., unistalling and rebooting after each unsuccessful attempt. Every time the iTunes and Quicktime icons appear but I can't open them.
Now loading from the disk does not complete and my computer restarts
Any suggestions?

1. Are you logged in as an administrator? If not, log in as an administrator and install iTunes for "all users" when prompted. If you are logged in as an administrator, proceed... FRANKLY, I AM NOT 100% CLEAR ON HOW I AM LOGGED IN SO I DID NOT PURSUE THIS ONE
2. Try downloading the latest version of iTunes from the apple website. This may be a minor glitch in that version and an updated version may help. I DOWNLOADED THIS FUN AND THEN WAS INVITED TO RUN THE APPLICATION BUT EXACTLY THE SAME HAPPENED AGAIN AT THE SAME STAGE IN THE PROCESS.
3. If neither of these work, I can explain to you in detail exactly how to add permissions for the "owner," which should definately fix your problem. Still, if you are uneasy with the third, try the others first. SO I GUESS THIS IS THE BEST WAY FORWARD UNLESS YOU CAN GIVE ME SOME GUIDANCE ON YOUR (1) ABOVE.

I am having a problem loading iTunes in Windows XP service pack 2. Every time I click on it, it seems to load for a little while, and then a window pops up saying "iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close". When I clicked on the details tab, it showed me a bunch of stuff I couldn't understand. Here's what it said:

The first question, Have you installed any of the following:
ACE & K-Lite mega codecs package, QT alternative, Storm codec, WinAVI video converter
These are know to cause troubel with Quicktime and must be uninstalled before proceding.
It is also a good idea to go to your Control Panel and try to launch QUicktime preferences - you need to be in classic view to see it.
Post any error message in full. This error message can give a clue to the presence of problem codecs if you are not sure.
Next do a removal of Quicktime with installer cleanup, followed by an install of the latest version.
I will give a method for complete removal, cleanup and reinstall of iTunes, Quicktime and related components, but in your case it may be possible to just do the QUicktime part. Don't forget to delete the recommended files from your system32 folder.

Remove any references you find to the programs you removed - strictly speaking you only need to worry about those programs where the uninstall failed.
restart your PC
Install the stand alone Quicktime and check that it works.
If it does, install iTunes.

Error screeen loading iTunes

Alright so I'm having a problem loading iTunes when I try to load it I get this error screen

I have tried every single help thing that I could available on the Itunes website and none of them worked. I was unable to install the quicktime that doesn't associate with Itunes because it wouldnt' let me uninstall the previous version I had. Why, I don't know. My Itunes worked and then one day last week just stopped. Any suggestions as to what I can do to fix this problem?? The help is greatly appreciate

next, we'll try to get a fresh copy of QuickTime into your PC by doing a repair install of itunes.
switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the repair install.
go into Add/Remove and select itunes. click "Change" and then click "Repair".
if the repair install goes through okay, restart the PC and try launching itunes again. does it launch properly now?

Agreed. No native linux support. The only ways you could run iTunes with a primary linux system would be to a) dual boot, b) virtualize Windows with VirtualBox, VMware, etc., or c) attempt to run iTunes in Wine (which doesn't usually work very well). Dual boot would give you the benefit of complete support and usage of hardware and software, but virtualizing is a bit more convenient, since you would not have to reboot your linux host.

I'm having problems getting iTunes Festival to work, I can click through shows but when i click on "play" for any particular one I get the dreaded "An Error Occured loading this content"
So far from what I've tried, most things work well, some things give me that error:
What works well:
Netflix
Podcast
Redbull TV
Bloomberg
What give me "an error occured loading this content":

(note: i havent tried everything yet)

1) restarting apple tv
2) resetting (pressing down and menu at the same time)
3) resetting my wifi router

I have the same problem I use a BT home hub the old white one and a iPad 4 if I reboot the hub it works ok for pics and some I player content then when I try to load a certain program it crashes and I need to reboot the hub again. Is this a problem with the hub?

The "power search" yields no results whatsoever when i attempt to search. Is this a problem with itunes or my computer? Everything else seems to load just fine involving the itunes store.

I am attempting to search for artists on itunes and for some reason it keeps telling me there are no results when I know I am tying in the correct artist. I have been trying this repeatedly and using different artists and song names and I am still getting no results. Is this a problem with itunes?

The only thing I would be concerned about is.
1st, Where did the media come from.
2nd, Was it clean and free of scratches.
Most of the CD&DVD Drives in Powerbooks seem to be very very picky about the media they like to play with.
Always be carefull of the Source from where it came.
Commercially produced Media is rarely a problem.
It doesn't take much eiter to make them act silly.

I tried all three of your suggestions, and happily the third suggestion worked. However, when I tried to use my internet, my connection was there but my browser couldn't locate my home pages.
I don't know which tabs to leave unchecked and which ones to check back after the steps you initially take to get it working. You are correct about changing it back, iTunes will no longer work when you default your settings after it works once.
I am still having problems with this... have you come up with anything else??

Problem with iTunes and iPhone Music organization. PLEASE READ AND HELP!

I have this problem concerning iTunes and my iPhone. When I add music, and I update the Artist title to organize it in my iPhone, It shows EDITED on my mac in iTunes, but not my iPhone. I took a screen shot of what It shows. The TOP is iTunes showing "Arie Dixon" and "Arie Dixon & Olivia Cipolla" two seperate CD's, yet different Artist Titles, just the way I want it. The BOTTOM shows how the file was originally, in 3 seperate titles, "Bebe Boohgz" "The Jackmove 3" and "Arie Dixon 'Bebe Boohgz' and Olivia Cipolla". The problem is that iTunes shows it in the correct title, but my iPhone won't. This is my 2nd iPhone 4 I have that has this problem. I'm not sure if it's the settings or encoding, can someone help me out? I can't be the only person with this problem. Apple rep looked at me like o_O
I also have music that won't appear in my iPhone, I manually have to search for, but appears on my iTunes in the correct title.
I also have everything updated, and have the new os x release.

As for the message about the media disappearing, of course it will. This is how iOS upgrades work. The device is wiped and the newest version of iOS for the device is installed as a "new" device then the device is restored using the backup created prior to the upgrade.
All the content on the device should already exist in iTunes on the computer.
If you want to move your iTunes library to a different drive for capacity reasons, do the following:
Close iTunes
Copy or Move the ENTIRE iTunes folder from the C drive to the other drive.
While holding SHIFT launch iTunes. iTunes will then prompt the user to select a library or create a new one. Point iTunes to the new iTunes folder location.

Problems with iTunes

I've recently started having a few problems with iTunes, and was wondering if anyone could offer advice on how to go about fixing them.
First of all, iTunes opens up (it takes quite a long time) and then everything goes slow. It keeps automatically updating the podcasts, of I press Ctrl + Alt + Delete, it says (under CPU) that iTunes is using (anywhere between)65 - 99% of the cpu. So if i stop it from updating the podcasts, the CPU usage goes down. Is there any way of resolving this?
Also, (whether CPU usage for iTunes in 99% or 0%) all my music is jumpy. It plays about a second, jumps, plays abother second, jumps... nothing willlay properly. This has only started happerning in the past few days.
I'm not sure if this came about after upgrading (i don't remeber if i upgraded iTunes recently or not).
One final problem that I've had for ages. (I think this might be more something wrong with my computer / windows) but iTunes wont always open straight away, If i double click on it, it will load for a few seconds then nothing will happern. So i forget about it, and start doing something else / leave the computer, then about 1/2 an hour later iTunes pops open. As I've said, I don't think that this is caused by iTunes, because if I restart my pc, it will (normally) open straight away.
I am using iTunes 6.0.4.2

I do not mean to be rude but considering the problem, What is your computers RAM Memory capacity if you are close to the maximum this could be part of your problem, also do you do disc clean up and defrag. regularly? there is also another facility that might help and that is a registry cleaner (do not start thinking massive outlay at this stage. The disc clean up and defrag should be part of your computers tools) The registry cleaner is available until later this year as a free item (Beta) from Microsoft. If you are fully clear there are all your 'cookies' clean out every day preferably 2-3 times per day they do mount up and take up disc space.

I had gotten a similar problem, except with "provider services", i believe, but i solved it by copying sqlite3.dll from E:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support to E:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support. doing that solved my first problem, but now i have been getting the error described in this topic (unable to load dataclass info... etc.). i tried reinstalling itunes (i already had 9.1.1, and thats what i reinstalled) by using the method described on apples site (using the "remove programs" tool in the control panel) and then downloading and installing itunes. when i opened it again, i still got the same error, and just now i got an error saying "the instruction at "0x00aadb6b" referenced memory at "0x00000008". the memory could not be read" it gave me the option to cancel and debug, or to press ok and terminate the program. I tried pressing cancel, and the popup went away but nothing else happened. a minute later the popup was back, so i pressed ok and itunes quit. Upon opening Itunes again, i got the very same error. sorry for the long post, but its really been bugging me. thanks for any help you might give, and if you need anymore info, feel free to contact me.

I just found that I can't Sync my Iphone either and it gave the same error code.... it must be a ITunes problem.

Let's start with iTunes.
Have you updated iTunes to 11.1.5, because the previous version did appear to have an issue about seeing iPods?
With iTunes 11.1.5 installed, look in Edit/Preferences/Devices, (or use the ALT key, followed by the E key and then the F key) and make sure that the box named Prevent iPods, iPhones and iPads from syncing automatically does not have a tick in the box.
Once you have doen those two things, check to see if the iPod is seen by iTunes.

OS stands for Operating System. (In computer speak, IO means Input/Output.)
iOS originally stood for iPhone Operating System, but it now refers to the iPod Touch and iPhone. The iPod Classic, which you have listed in your profile as your iPod, does not use iOS.
I assume that you have been listening to the Podcast in your iTunes on the computer as you cannot transfer it to your iPod. It's what I'd do.

When I've tried to load 10.5.2, I get an error message box stating there is a problem with my Windows installer. I've tried loading the windows installer hot fix KB942288-v3-x86, but it didn't help. thanks for the quick reply. I had the same idea already yesterday. I use Norton Internet Security for a long time now without any problems. I think this a Apple or Microsoft problem, because the popup window which appear come from Windows DEP. I got no message from the firewall with any problem. I check the log files from Norton and Windows already but find nothing. This is a very strange problem. In the past I have had a lot of other problems with iTunes upgrades. Everytime I accept the installation of the newest version I got errors regarding missing "msi" files.

I have Windows 7 and just recently experienced a problem with itunes freezing up when I clicked on the "apps" tab. Everything else seems to work okay in itunes. I have uninstalled it and reloaded it 4 or 5 times, but still freezes up.

Everything else in the itunes software seems to be working okay. The problem is in the part where you sync the newly purchased apps. The apps will all be blank that are downloaded and that part of the software crashes itunes or freezes up. I can get out of itunes okay after the freeze up, but it just stops me from syncing anything that I have newly added. If anyone has had this problem before or knows someone that has, please let me know how I can fix it. I have uninstalled and reloaded itunes 4 or 5 times, but the problem is still there. I might add that I have been using itunes and purchasing apps for 2 to 3 years without any problems. HELP.
