Problems loading Panther on beige G3

I have been trying to install panther (10.3)on my 266 beige for a couple months (every time I have a few hours to play with it), without success. I have used XPF and the install is alomost complete when I get the "an error has occurred. Please try installing again". After reading various comments from a lot of users about what to do and what I need, here is where I am at:
I have a Sonnet G4 processor card, a partitioned 80 GB hard drive, a PCI card for USB (and had to press the CUDA button to make that work), and 2 RAM cards to get me past 500MB of RAM. I bought the beige in '97, and have never replaced the PRAM battery, so that is on my list. I tried pulling the RAM cards, and tried to install, but the error message was that 10.3 wanted more than 32 MB of ram to install(I did not pull the pci card when attempting this latest install). When I startup, now I hear a broken glass sound with a blank screen, but I can restart and all seems to work. I have zapped the pram and reset open firmware; but the broken glass sound is still there from a cold start (never on a restart). I know my other problem was XPF v.4, instead of 3.1.
Besides getting the new pram battery, how can I satisfy the RAM needs of panther for install if I have to pull the cards I put in? Do I need to yank the pci card as well? After doing that, do I need to reset anything prior to attempting to install panther.

Tina is absolutely correct about the RAM and she's given you links to reputable dealers.
I was a bit confused by your terminology, "ram cards". I'm assuming you mean the RAM DIMM's, simply this is RAM that you install in the computer. The Beige can take up to 756MB of RAM. I'm assuming you've installed two 256MB DIMMs for a total of 512MB?
You might check to make sure that the DIMMs are properly seated. Once you've set them into the slot, put one finger on each end of the DIMM and press down firmly. The DIMM should go all the way into the slot and you'll hear a definite click. The tabs at either ends of the slot should be fully closed against the DIMMs.
After checking that or possibly reseating the DIMMs, press the cuda button as Tina has suggested. The run DIMM First Aid in OS9. Ideally, you'll have PC100 CL222 or at least CL322 DIMMs installed.
I've recently reinstalled Panther back onto my Beige. I did not remove any PCI cards, RAM or anything else from my Beige. I have a 200Gb hard drive hooked up to an ATA100/133 PCI card. I did reformat the drive (with the zero option chosen) as I'd had a couple of failed Tiger attempts.
I installed OS9.2.2 on the second partition. I used XPF v3.1 with the "helper" drive option set to the OS9 partition. I had the OSX disk in the DVD drive. Once I told XPF to install OSX, it did the rest. I do know that my first attempt which did not have the "helper" option failed.

Problems Loading Programs

Hi, I'm having some problems loading programs, specifically the game Neverwinter Nights 2.
It has been working fine for a month or so. Now when I click to load, the icon jumps a few times then nothing.
- I have reinstalled the game, but with no success.
- I have tried to repair the disk permissions in Safe Boot mode.
- I have unsuccessfully searched for Plist files connected to the game (found none).
- I have tried to load the game via a New Login account, with no success.
Im Reluctant to do an 'Archive and Install', as I have no idea where have my app disks are.
Has anyone an other idea's? Loosing the ability to play the game is annoying but I'm more worried that this may happen to other more important applications in the future!
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated!

Don't even think about deleting Quicktime, it's an integrated part of the OS.
If that (or any other) game is that important to you, and you are prepared to lose the security fixes in QT 7.6, then it is possible to revert to an earlier version of Quicktime:
If you wish to downgrade Quicktime to 7.5.5, (even though you will lose the important security fixes contained in the 7.6 update, and you will also find that parts of iTunes 7.6, iMovie and iChat may not now work without QT 7.6) there are two methods for doing this (note that attempting to manually delete Quicktime from your hard disk is doomed to failure. QT has components all over the place as it is used by many applications):
(Note: I am running 10.4.11. Some things may be different in Leopard, but the principle should be the same.)
First: Go to HD/Library/Receipts and drag the file QuickTime750_Tiger.pkg to the trash, and delete it.
1. Perform an Archive and Install process to remove all of the QuickTime update's (and potentially problem-causing) components, and replace them with the components of the older release. Unfortunately, this means you will lose some system settings and some or all third-party system add-ons. This method is therefore longwinded and inconvenient, but will ultimately work. Because QT is an integral part of OS X using an archive and install to also downgrade to a previous version of OS X so that the various versions can work in the intended tandem, is the safest way to do it. 2. Install Quicktime 7.5. in such a way that it overwrites the QT 7.6 files without interfering with your other system settings and third-party add-ons. This can be done using a shareware (you can use it a few times for free, but worth paying for and having) application called Pacifist. This method works perfectly:

You will now have Quicktime 7.5.5.x installed.
N.B. Repair permissions and restart both before and after installation.

Cannot directly open the browser from the icon. "problem loading webpage" and "timed out" are the messages. Access was accomplished by using yahoo messenger and opening my email. if I attempt to open a new page, I recieve the aforementioned warnings.

A lot of tabs loads and tells me there was a problem loading the page. How can I stop all the tabs loading because ist slows down Firefox.

When I open Firefox, a lot of tabs try to open at the same time. They all say Problem loading the page. It happened after I tried to download a owners manual for Harley Davidson motor cycles. How can I stop all but one tab from opening.

1) Try to remove the addin and then add again.(Before doing this close all the excel process from the task Manager)
2) Check weather essexcln.xll and essxleqd.xla are corrupted.

Problem loading data into write optimized dso.....

Hi ,
I am having problem loading the data from PSA to write optimised DSO
I have changed the normal DSO into a Write Optimised DSO. I have 2 data sources to be loaded into the write optimized DSO. One for Demand and one for Inventory.
The loading of Demand data from PSA to DSO happens fine with out any error.
Now while loading the Inventory data from PSA to DSO , i get the below errors
"Data Structures were changed. Start Transaction before hand"
Execption CX_RS_FAILED Logged
I have tried reactivating the DSO, Transformation, DTP and tried to load the data again to the write optimised DSO, but no luck, I get the above error message always.
Can some one please suggest me what could be done to avoid the above error messages and load the data successfully.

Check the transformations is there any routines written.
Check your Data struture of cube and DS as well.
Is there any changes in structure.
Data will load upto PSA normally, if is there any changes in struture of DSO, then the error may occur.just check it.

Is anyone having problems loading the newest version of iTunes (10.6.3) using Windows Vista? My current iTunes program version 10.6.1 keeps telling me there is an update but when I try to load it the information box goes away and nothing happens. I have tried downloading the new version from Apple web site but it brings up a warning screen of " iTunes setup.exe is not commonly downloaded and could harm your computer." I select the action of run anyway and get the next error "iTunes Setup.exe is not a valid Win32 application." What Gives?

Ok. Here's the results. I tried all the music videos I wanted to put onto the IPod and the results were:
I was able to get good results with 2 full length music videos and 2 video singles(only 2 videos on each disk). For a total of 4 videos.
I was able to encode 5 full length music videos, but the results were distorted (video and audio).
I was unable to copy 2 full length videos due to error failures. 1 was a "No Title Found" error, the other was a "NAVDAT" error.
I guess my next question is: Do you know of any other program(s) that I might try, to see if I can get good results with the videos that didn't work with Handbrake?

Hello,
I installed Photoshop CS3 Trial and whenever I run it and choose to begin my trial period I get the following error message:
"Problem with Trial - problem loading trial period for Adobe Photoshop CS3".
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, and even ran the Adobe CS3Clean Script but nothing seems to help.
I should note I never installed any earlier version of Photoshop on my system (I use a fresh copy of Windows XP with only a few programs installed).
Any suggestions will be appreciated.

i had the trial of photoshop on and the trial has run out my friend has given me a disk with adobe photoshop on and i cant do it beacause of the regestry code the photoshop puts in after the trial has ended to tell my pc that i cant have photoshop on my computer again :(:( now i have herd that you can remove the codes but it is quite hard well iam willing for this challenge and if anyone could help me i would reall welcome your help or if anybody has got the link to a tutorial to tell me hoe to do it i would aprecitae that to thank you all very much and post bak soon please

I just spent 3 days with this issue as well. I finally fixed it by reluctantly adding yet another add-on called ADBLOCK
I was able to selectively block google-analytics. Now pages that weren't loading before are now loading.
eg vimeo.com starbucks.com & other random sites.
This was a tough one to fix because there is NO ERROR MESSAGE..page just shows it's loading...forever..& the bottom of my browser says 'waiting for google analytics'. I finally figured out google analytics is the culprit. Ironically, some help pages in trying to find a fix wouldn't load for me due to google analytics arghhh!
Im on a macbookpro & Safari worked fine for these same sites. It was just Firefox. I nearly switched back to Safari because of this stupid issue.

Cannot open grooveshark due to a supposed problem loading flash. (I have the latest version of both (Mozilla and Flash)

Everything with firefox works ok except Grooveshark. An error message appears saying: We had problems loading flash, you might have any blocker etc etc.
I don´t have any blocker and as a matter of fact i have the latest versions for both mozilla and flash. Neither version of flash test nor reinstallation process nor checking add ons or firewall settings solved my problem.

To double-check your Flash permissions for the site, you can click the globe or padlock icon to the left of the address, click More Information, then click the Permissions tab. The "Activate Plugins" section would be the one to check.
I understand you have checked your add-ons, but in case there is an unexpected interaction, could you test the page in Firefox's Safe Mode just to confirm that extensions are not the problem?
