Problems!!! Major Music Problems!!

I downloaded iTunes 5.0 and i renamed some of my songs because when i downloaded them they had wierd names but when i plug my ipod into my computer iTunes says Updating Do Not... but when it says OK to discon... none of the songs on my iPod are renamed and the ones I did renamed just skip until the iPod finds one that hasn't been renamed how do i get it to work?

I would try putting your iPod into manual mode, delete the songs that the iPod doesn't play and then reload those songs from iTunes. If that doesn't do it you will probably need to try restoring you iPod. Unless someone else has any ideas.

  • Major Music app bugs w/ iTunes Match

I have iTunes Match and the Music app on my iPhone is almost un-usable.  Two major bugs are causing this:
    1.  Sometimes, a song will fail to play if it's not downloaded.  I'll have it on shuffle-all and a song will come up and the app will pause for a minute (as if it's building the cache, which is fine), but then the song will fail to play and the next track will begin.  If I go back to that song, it will immediately skip it.  The only way to play the song, is to download it manually (with the little cloud icon) and it will play fine.  HUGE pain in the butt when I'm driving.
    2.  More often than the first bug, a song will begin to play and when it get's to the 1-minute mark, it will skip to the next track for five seconds and then come back.  When it comes back to the original track the counter will start ticking, but no music will play.  The only way to get it to play again is to seek to before the 1 minute mark and hope it doesn't happen again (about 30% chance of getting through it).  If it doesn't happen at the 1 minute mark it will sometimes happen at the 2 or 3 minute mark (+/- 5 seconds).
    Is it just me?

Okay, so since I'm the only one experiencing this problem... is there something I'm doing wrong?  Is there a way to submit a bug report?

  • Since ios7 Major Music Issues

I have an iPad 2 and ever since I updated to ios7 my iTunes library has been a mess it will not play, there are these red boxes with red circles on each song and every time I try to play a certain album, it deletes it from my library. I have lost over 500 songs already, I have tried to sync almost 10 times to my PC's iTune library and it will not reload the missing alblums. Please help......

Similar issue here. This was my fix:
Altered from original solution from Emily P:
Okay, mine now works here is what I did.
plug in the iPhone, iPad etc
in iTunes select the phone or iPad
Under Summary uncheck "Sync with this....."
Under "Music" uncheck the "Sync Music"
    Sync
Let it remove all the songs, dont worry it will come back no problems.
Once that is all done all the music on the phone or ipad should be gone.
Now check them both back on, sync, and everything should copy back onto it.
    Working now !!!!!

  • Playing iTunes music elsewhere?

So... the music I put on my mp3 player doesn't work. It is in m4p format, I assume that is the problem. Got a way to make it work and convert it that is allowed, or is the "free song" in the box of cereal a scam to get people to buy iPods? No chance I'm doing that, I don't have much music, and my 64 Meg MuVo that came with the computer functions perfectly.

All major music download sites have some type of protection on the files to prevent illegal file sharing. This is required by the record companies before they will make any songs/albums available for download ANYWHERE. The second most common type of file protection is protected WMA format which is not compatible with an iPod, so if I tried to use Napster for example, I would be in the same boat. My Napster purchases would not be compatible with my iPod & I would have to burn them to an audio CD, which you can use to re-import into iTunes. I've told you how you can get your purchases to your Nomad, that is the only thing you can do.

  • Downloading music+creating a playlist

Complete novice here! I have created a slideshow in iPhoto and would like to add background music. I don't know where to find music, how to download it or how to create a playlist. Can someone tell me - in very simple terms - or point me in the direction of sites I can visit to get instructions?
    Thanks,
    Sauble

One of the safest ways to legally download music is the iTunes Store.
It is the largest one at this moment for digital downloads.
It doesn't have much choice in 'obscure' music though, although many 'Indie' artists (not associated with a major record company) offer their music here.
Other major music sites (Napster, Rhapsody, MSN Music) don't either I guess.
I don't have any experience with other sites, so I can't give you any recommendations from my own experience.
If music sites offer secure payment, then it usually is safe to buy.
I don't recommend sites that let you pay for a subscription.
If for some reason the subscription ends, you're not able to play the music again.
Also, I don't recommend to download protected WMA files on a Mac.
They usually only are playable on a Windows machine.
If you're looking for something special, 'Google' around and I'm sure you will find what you're looking for, although the large number of found results may prevent you from finding the right site.
Usually the first results lead to the desired result, but often you have to refine your search criteria.
The next took me a few minutes to find. It took much more time to write it down
I searched for: "canadian anthem" +instrumental
    (including the quotes)
    Found about 448 results
    Second result: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/O_Canada
At the bottom of this page are a few downloads
The 'Instrumental (1916)' file is a monophonic performance of the anthem.
It is an .ogg file however, which is not supported by iTunes.
I downloaded it by control-clicking on the link and choosing 'download Linked File', then opened it with Audacity. It can be exported as AIFF or MP3 to be playable in iTunes.
My second search was: "2 unlimited" +"No Limits"
    Found about 56,000 results
    First result: http://www.the2unlimited.com/
Click on 'enter', on the next page click on 'Recordstore' to show the links where it is available (CDs only I think, not downloads)
To find a way for a legal digital download, the search has to be refined, but I leave that to you if you don't mind.

  • Compose Audio Tracks for Full/Minus Vocal Music Video DVD

    Hi everyone.
I've recorded, mixed my song in Sonar, mastered the stereo audio file in Wavelab, edit video in Premiere CS4 for a dvd music video project. Anyone can help me how to compose the audio tracks so that finally listener can choose for full song or minus the main vocal with their remote controller.
Heard people telling about vocal on the right channel and music on left channel which will make the original stereo music mono. i'm trying to avoid this. any other way of doing that?...2 tracks together in a song, 1 full 1 without vocal? How do you do this?
    Thanks, all the best everyone.
    Mal

    Mal,
One can do this very easily in Encore. While it's more an Encore question, let me try to tackle it here.
DVD-Video and BD, allow for multiple Audio Streams. These are user selectable from either a Menu, or the Audio button on the remote.
What I would do would be to Export your Sequence in elemental/elementary streams, i.e. one Video-only and then, in your case, two Audio-only files. One will be the full-mix with vocals, and the other with just the instrumental. These files can be either Exported from PrPro, or from your audio-editing program. There is one warning, that I will give you later on.
Now, you have three files: Video-only (silent), and two versions of your Audio. Import the Video-only into Encore, as a Timeline. Import the two Audio-only files as Assets.
In the Project Panel in Encore, drag one of your Audio-only files to that Timeline, where it will be Audio Track 1. Drag the other to that same Timeline, where it will be Audio Track 2. Audio Track 1 will be the main Audio, so you get to choose which one you deem more important, or which you want to be the default. The other, Audio Track 2, will be the supplemental Audio.
I would use a Menu, that had Buttons for the User to choose which Audio version they wanted. One Button would be specifically linked to the Timeline with Audio Track 1 chosen, and the second to that same Timeline, but with Audio Track 2 specifically chosen (drop-down in Properties Panel for those Buttons, will let you choose this). Most remotes will allow the user to choose on the fly, with the Audio button, but I would still do this Menu. I do similar, when I have DD 5.1 SS on Audio Track 1, and the DTS encoded version on Audio Track 2.
Then, just set up your other Menus, as is required.
For more Encore-specific questions, here is the Encore Forum. Some of the same folk there, as here, but there are some different folk, who only post/read there. One, Neil Wilkes is a major music DVD/BD producer, and knows his way around music mixing and authoring.
Now, that one warning mentioned above. Both DVD-Video and BD are centered around Video. If you are Exporting from PrPro, make 100% certain that your Audio is EXACTLY the same Duration as your Video, or slightly shorter. I usually leave about 1-2 sec. of silent Audio. Even 1 Audio Unit more in the Audio file can be an issue. Exact, or slightly shorter for the Audio. This holds for Exporting from your Audio-editing program too. Just check that Duration very carefully.
Also, if you are doing DD 5.1 SS, you might want to make sure that you have 02 sec. of silence, before the first note in your Audio, to give a DVD player time to lock onto the signal. This is more likely to be needed with higher-end DVD players. I always begin my Video with 02 sec. of Black Video and end it with 02 sec. of Black Video. My Audio does not begin until the end of the first, and ends before the end of the latter.
Good luck, and hope that this helps,
    Hunt

  • Major problem: adding artwork alters music in mp3 file

I have a CD worth of mp3s in iTunes. I highlight all of the songs from that CD, then copy/paste (or drag to the artwork box). Then it updates all of the songs with this artwork, but after processing I always have a few songs that the artwork doesn't appear on. When I play those songs with the missing artwork, they always have a skip/stutter and restarts the song someplace between second 1 & 12 in the beginning of the song. I thought iTunes was just restarting the song, but you can see and confirm in other programs that the mp3 has been altered such that the first few seconds have been duplicated (ie. the song length also gets longer). Discovering this was difficult - kept on thinking that I had poorly ripped the albums (it's very annoying), but this isn't the case.
This has been happening for almost a year now. I've been hoping it would be fixed with all of the numerous updates to iTunes and since I haven't found others with this problem it makes me believe there's something "special" about my hardware. I have a lot of mp3s - 80GB from 13742 files in my iTunes library - and I keep them all on an external firewire hard drive.
I've learned to keep a copy of all my files so I can replace them after iTunes messes them up. I have to often try it multiple times before it works correctly. It's a ridiculous problem, but I rely a lot on my iPod so I can't see moving to another music player... yet.
Any advice? Apple folks please feel free to contact me.
    Thanks,

I downloaded Tag&Rename, took a CD worth of mp3s that were already in iTunes without any artwork, then redid all of the tags in Tag&Rename, then all of these tags were noticably updated in iTunes... but the same problem happened with the artwork.
Since Tag&Rename requires $ to get non-demo version in order to save artwork to the tags (or for some reason it wouldn't let me do it even after I saved the picture as a file), I did this again in iTunes. It was completely random which songs the artwork wouldn't "stick" to, and again those songs had errors in the first few seconds of play. I would replace a song with my backup, add the artwork, if it didn't stick, I'd repeat until it stayed. Very frustrating!
Lastly, I do wish iTunes had a way of "cleaning up" the tags if what you say is true - a shame that one would need outside software to do the relatively straightforward task of completing the tags. I tried this with several different CDs worth of mp3s that were encoded differently (though most of my stuff gets ripped from Exact Audio Copy).

  • Major ipod problem, glitched music. help.

Ok, so here goes the story. 2nd gen ipod, 16GB. this just randomly happened- around a week after i homeshared with my friend and bought some new music.
THERE ARE NO DUPLICATES IN MY LIBRARY CONCERNING THIS MUSIC!!!
Around a week ago, I bought the album Moulin Rouge. I bought it with a gift card on he computer, then re-bought it on my ipod (a mistake, I know) It was completely normal, played normally, no problems. Far before this, I got a song from inception off of itunes, (we built our own world). It was also normal, save the fact that there was a sound at the beginning of it every time it played- like a clap. It started doubling before the moulin did.
The album and song are now behaving oddly. They are doubling themselves up. Like, when I have the Moulin album checked, two of each song pop up in the album. then when I uncheck the album, there still remains the whole album; so it seems there are two copies, one glitched stuck on my ipod, one normal from itunes. Moulin also has very weird ******** album art; the art is like a genius mix cover with another random album. Both of these symptoms are the same with the inception song.
And also, sometimes the moulin picks up random cover art from completely different albums, cover art I have added to songs I have gotten from limewire (NONE OF THE LIMEWIRE SONGS I GOT ARE GLITCHED OR BEHAVING ODDLY)
So, I have reset my iPod several times. I plugged my ipod in, wen under the music tab, and unchecked the 'Sync Music' box. So now the only music that is on my ipod is the weird, glitch music that doesn't seem to be originating from my iTunes library.
I don't even know if restoring my ipod will work with this. I have absolutely no ay of getting this music off my ipod. The 'regular' versions of the song + album are behaving fine, I can still listen to everything on my library.
Please help me. I need to get this iPod through a month or so more, and it just really annoys me to have something like this. I know I can simply create playlists and listen from there, but I kinda need to have my music organized.

You need to repost this in the iTunes discussion group.

  • Major 160GB ipod problems, no music, no files, no recognition, no resetting

been using my ipod for a while but yesterday, I opened the ipod to find it says there is no music on the ipod, but on the setting section in the ipod it says, that I do actually have space used on my ipod.
I tried to connect the ipod to the computer, but nothing shows on itunes. I opened "My Computer" it says that there is a removable disk, but nothing shows up when I try to click it (given that I have some files and documents stored in it)
when I connect the ipod to the computer, the ipod shows the "Connected" screen, but when I eject the ipod, it goes to the silver apple screen for a long while, and the ipod does a weird clicking noise.
tried doing the 5R's but cant because the itunes doesnt even recognise the ipod.
PLEASE any help would be greatly apprecated, I'm not very technical when it comes to electronics, but this is the best amount of detail I can give for now. if there is any more info needed, I'll gladly give

I a really similar issue a while back, where I turned on my iPod only to find everything gone, but it would still say that something is on it. However, my iTunes would still recognize it, although no music or movies would appear in the the menu. I tried resetting, but no luck. I ultimately had to end up factory resetting it to fix it. Since then, I've had no problems.
Since the case is that not even your iTunes recognizes it, I would take it in to the Genius bar and see what they can do. Hopefully they don't give you their default answer of "it's an internal/logic board problem," which means you're basically stuck and you'll have to pay them to fix it or buy a new iPod.

  • Major problem.. I need to transfer the music from my ipod to my computer. but it seems that iTunes will only let transfer purchased songs from the itunes store?? :S

my computer recently crashed and i lost everything from it, literally.

  • Major Problems With Music Store

I keep getting kicked out of the music store. It might enable me to search or purchase one song, and then it comes up with the error message and shuts i-tunes down. Any ideas? Also, can you please answer this question for me - can you transfer music from one I-Pod to another? I have been trying to get the music off my son's IPOD and put it into MY library but it won't let me do it. It will let me take music from the library and put it onto his IPOD, but not the other way around. I have been working on this situation for hours. These are IPOD Nano's. Thanks.

The way I've transferred music from one IPOD to another is with a flash drive. Ex. I copy my songs from my computer and then hand the flash drive to my friend and they put the flash drive in their computer and copy the files to their computer. And you have to copy the music to the computer. Not directly to iTunes. Copy the files to the computer and then upload them into iTunes. So far, that's the best way I can figure out how to do it. Hope that helps.

  • Cannot find file, would you like to locate it?

I know others have seen this message and they have found where the song or songs were located, but I cannot find where they are located. It has not happened to all of the songs but about 25% of them. How do I locate them so I can play them again? How do I prevent it from happening again?
Please advise. you can also email me at [email protected]

You might have changed the name of a folder in which you stored much of your music. I recently changed the name of a major music folder in my computer, and I had to recover all of the files. Think: Have you changed any folder names recently? If nothing else, search for the name of one of the songs on Windows. This will help you find the other ones. Since they were all lost at the same time, they're bound to be related by a parent folder. Recovering each individual song is a pain, though. You may want to just upload them by the folder once you re-locate them, rather than telling iTunes where each and every song is individually.
You could've also deleted the folder that the music was located in. If you've emptied it out of your recycling bin, say bye-bye to your music.

  • General iTunes Plus Question

When iTunes Plus initially started, I was under the impression that it was an alternate format for songs that you could buy for a little extra price. Now it seems everything is in iTunes plus at the regular price. Is this true? Is anything with the iTunes plus sign in the DRM-Free format? I have bought some stuff like this and they play in this music game I have, Audiosurf, whereas my older albums won't show up because they are protected. I'm assuming all new albums on the store are in iTunes plus by default, at the regular price, but I just want to make sure, especially since I have a very simple music editing software, Audacity, that cannot edit any song from iTunes period, new or old. I do not so much care about editing songs (especially since I mainly used it to cut out 20 second snippets for ringtones) but it has cast some doubt on the DRM-freeness of the songs. Just hoping for some clarification about this iTunes plus.
Are all albums with the plus sign in the DRM-free format and at the normal price, .99 a song?

Is anything with the iTunes plus sign in the DRM-Free format?
ALL of it is DRM free.
Are all albums with the plus sign in the DRM-free format and at the normal price, .99 a song?
    Most are.
-> Changes Coming to the iTunes Store
"SAN FRANCISCO—January 6, 2009—Apple® today announced several changes to the iTunes® Store (www.itunes.com). Beginning today, all four major music labels—Universal Music Group, Sony BMG, Warner Music Group and EMI, along with thousands of independent labels, are now offering their music in iTunes Plus, Apple’s DRM-free format with higher-quality 256 kbps AAC encoding for audio quality virtually indistinguishable from the original recordings. iTunes customers can also choose to download their favorite songs from the world’s largest music catalog directly onto their iPhone™ 3G over their 3G network just as they do with Wi-Fi today, for the same price as downloading to their computer. And beginning in April, based on what the music labels charge Apple, songs on iTunes will be available at one of three price points: 69 cents, 99 cents and $1.29, with most albums still priced at $9.99."
