Problems managing Messages in ios 8

My wife is using an iPhone 5C 32Gb, running iOS 8.1.  Apart from calling, she uses her iPhone primarily for Mail and Messages.  She likes to keep those apps clean, so she is constantly deleting unwanted messages, etc.. Ever since we upgraded to iOS 8, however, she has problems cleaning up and managing Messages.  She will mark a bunch of messages, but eventually the trash can icon disappears, and the only option left is to delete the entire conversation.  She then needs to start over, just a few at a time, until that doesn't work either.  Then she quits (swipes off) Messages and opens it again.  If that doesn't work, she shuts off the iPhone and restarts it.  Then she is back to trying to do a few at a time only. This can get very tedious.  I never manage my messages, so I don't have that issue, but for her it is very important.  Any ideas?
Now a new thing seems to be happening: She goes to add a photo to a Message and the keyboard does not go away, so she presses cancel and then the whole app seems to lock up.  I don't know if this is related to the deleting problem, but it is driving her — and therefore me — a bit crazy.
Any help is appreciated!

I just tested this out on my 5S on 8.1.  Open a group message - scrolled all the way to the top, Oct 28 held down on said text - more - then click on said text and then I went down the line and check every message up until today, my trash icon was still there, I delete 120 text conversation in that group message.
Is that how your wife is deleting the message?

    Hello Sue,
I have an iPad 3, iPad Mini and iPhone 5S and they are all sluggish on capitalisation using shift keys. I hope that Apple will solve the problem because it is driving me crazy.
I find using a Microsoft Surface and Windows 8 phone, which I also have, work as well as all the ios devices before the ios 7 upgrade.
It has something to do with the length of time that you need to hold the shift key down. The shift key needs to be held longer than the letter key for the capitalisation to work. For some reason, this is a major change in the way we have learnt to touch type on computers. I am having to relearn how to type!

  • My iTunes won't detect my iPhone that has to be restored via iTunes *because if pass code problems* and its running iOS 7.2

my iTunes won't detect my iPhone that has to be restored via iTunes *because if pass code problems* and its running iOS 7.0.4

If itunes is comming up and saying it can't read the device because it's locked with a passcode, you may have to put your device into recovery mode first.
To put your device in recovery mode: (Following these steps will erase your device and reset everything to factory defaults)
    1) press and hold the power button until you see the slide to power off option
    2) swipe to power off
    3) Press and hold the home button while the device is off and connect it to your computer. Continue holding the home button until you see a graphic with the iTunes logo with a picture of a USB cable below it.
    4) iTunes should give you a message that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click ok and then select Restore iPhone. iTunes will download a fresh copy of iOS and then wipe the device and restore it. Depending on the speed of your computer's internet connection this may take a while. Just leave the iphone connected to your computer until it's finished.
If itunes is not detecting it at all or is Not giving you the message that the phone is locked with a passcode, you may end up having to reinstall itunes. This seems to be a fairly common problem after the most recent itunes update (11.1.5)
If this is the case and you happen to be running a windows based computer you will have to uninstall itunes in this order from your programs and features option in control panel:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Then download and reinstall itunes from itunes.com try putting your device into recovery mode again and restore.
    Hope this helps.
    Cheers.

  • Problem with message count

    hello ,
I have problem with message count, in my inbox there are more than 0 messages but i got result of
    Folder inbox = store.getFolder("Inbox")
    int c =inbox.getMessageCount()
    of c is 0
    i.e i got c as zero rather than 5.

I am seeing the same thing and I agree with MathiasF's observation.  My count seems to increase when I do a search for mail on the server.  This has happened previously (iOS 5.x) but ending the Mail app always fixed it.  The only way I can correct the count now is if I turn off sync for Mail on the Exchange account and re-enable.  This clears my mail and causes my phone to go out and redownload.  Rebooting and resetting the iPhone has not helped.
    I'm on Sprint - 32GB White iPhone 4S running iOS 6.0 (10A403)

  • Problem after upgrading to iOS 6.1.3

I recently upgraded my iPhone 5 to iOS 6.1.3, and started facing the problem with incoming calls.
iPhone 5 is not able to recieve second call within 5-10 seconds of finishing the first call. The problem is hard to notice, as you wont get any error message or warning. The caller hears the user not reachable message. The problem is not with the carrier, as I have tried using almost all the operators available in India.
I even tried using 5 different handsets (all on iOS 6.1.3), and all had this problem. Luckily I got my iPhone replaced and checked for the issue before upgrading the iOS to 6.1.3, and it was working fine. Just to confirm if the problem was there with iOS, I again upgraded the iOS, and found the same thing happening again.
Want to know if this problem is specific to iPhones marketed in India? Was wondering if the issue is with iOS upgrade, it should be happening with all the handsets, but could not see any such post in the community. Or is it just hapening with my iPhone???

This is Apple's official answer: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1559
Also look to the More Like This box on the right for other's experience.
Two other suggestions I have seen (I have no personal experience with either):
Turn on Airplane mode, turn the phone off, wait 30 minutes, turn it back on.
Put it in a ziplock bag (to prevent condensation), put it in a freezer for 15 minutes.

  • Problem : My messages are not deleted

Hello everyone, (sorry for my english)
I have an iPhone iOS 7.0.4 and 5C, and I have a problem about messages.
When I delete a conversation (either with Messages or iMessage) it's impossible for me to send messages to anyone else, I absolutely have to turn off my iPhone, then, when I turn back on the messages, it is obviously not sent, and the conversation expected to be deleted reappear.
I tried to delete the messages and wait a whole night, when I restart the iPhone, conversations reappeared.
I wonder if this problem also happens for you.
Ps: When I delete only one message from the conversation, it's the same problem, I can not send sms then.
I look forward to your help

    SunGudzy;
I have tried that too and nothing is working. I've also tried to reset that i have seen other IPhone users post and still the same problem.

  • Centro + Exchange: There was a problem syncing messages

I followed the instructions on this page: http://kb.palm.com/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE/,/?St=116,E=0000000000145083804,K=5545,Sxi=18,Case=Obj(45113) and I'm having issues connecting. We use OWA and I can access that page from my phone and log in, but I get an error. I assume the error is just because the page is too large for the phone to load. I know the email address and password are right as I've entered them serveral times and tried multiple accounts. If I have SSL on and hit the test I get the error: Error connecting to server. Please check youre network or server settings and re-sync. If I turn SSL off I get the error: There was a problem syncing messages. If I put in what I know to be the wrong address with SSL off I get the Error connecting to server message, so I think I'm atleast getting the phone to see the server.
After some messing around, I managed to get a new error: ssl error no trusted root update ca list. After googing that, I found the PalmCertificatesTool and uploaded the certificate to the phone. Now I get the "Error connecting to server. Please check youre network or server settings and re-sync." error again with SSL enabled. With SSL off, I get: Did not let you make a connection. Please check your password and network security settings then retry.
So that tells me it's at least seeing the server, but there's some kind of issue with SSL... Any ideas?
    New activity log error:

Yeah, that certainly will make troubleshooting difficult.  If you have your own account on the server but no actual phone to work with, you can do as I did - grab the Centro simulator from Palm.  Go to the following site and register as a developer:  https://pdnet.palm.com/wps/portal/pdnet/developers
Grab the Sprint Centro simulator, install.  In the right-click menu, Settings, communications: toggle all netlib calls to host TCP/IP and you will have connectivity.
Set it up as if it were an actual handheld and you can test your email w/o needing the boss' wife's centro.
Hope this helps get things moving so we can get error codes and proceed.
If you have trouble with the simulator, you can post over here: http://forums.palm.com/palm/board/message?board.id=support_downloads&thread.id=7566 to keep that in its own thread.
edit - Or were you asking for more detailed Versamail setup information than that found here: http://www.palm.com/cgi-bin/cso_kbURL.cgi?ID=44998
    Post relates to: Centro (Sprint)

  • Problem managing apps

In iTunes 11.0.4.4, I have a problem managing apps of my two devices (iPad and iPhone).
In the iTunes menu, the Apps didn't show up in the left part of the box (iPad->Apps). In the right part, when I delete or move Apps and then synchronise the device, the Apps didn't disappear into the device.

    - You can only delete apps that were installed on the iPod. If the app came with the iPod/iOS then there is no X and you can't delete the app.
    - A Restriction can be set in Settings>General>Restrictions that prevent deleting apps.

  • Touch sensitivity problem after latest update iOS 6.1

    Hi guys,
does anyone else have the same problem? After updating my iPhone 5 to latest version iOS 6.1, touch screen stared to work wierd. I have to slide a few times just to unlock my screen. Can not poroperly open any application and when I want to scrool, that's pain in the ***.
Can anyone help me about this? Is that problem with the update iOS 6.1 or my iPhone5, 3 motnhs old become broken?
    Thanks in advance.

Hi. I have a 3 years old 3GS which i have updated whenever a new iOS was avaialble. This has been working with improvements besides the fact that the phone gradually is becomming slower with increased functions and especially from iOS 6.0 and up. It has however worked ok keeping in mind that it is a 3 years old phone. With the latest update to iOS 6.1, however, the use af the iphone has severely been affected, much like you other guys are experiencing. The below described behavior of the iphone has never happened before, until the faithfull morning of the 4th of februar, 2013 when i accepted to update the iOS to 6.1. Immediately after the update the problems started:
When sliding to unlock the phone it takes several attemps (sometimes 10 or more) before the slider actally follows my finger to the end and the iphone unlocks.
When typing  (eg. a text msg. or email message), it is now allmost impossible to type a meaningfull message because some of the keys do not respond and other only respond to a very hard press. Only when typing very slowly, making sure the touchscreen is actually responding, a usefull message can be made. It seems like the sesitivity of the touchscreen has been altered making it less sensitive.
The same behaviour is observed for other functions and Apps like games which are now impossible to use due to the poor response of the touch screen.
Now i only wish i could roll back the iOS to an earlier version (like 5.1.1) where the iphone was really working well.
I really hope that a new and improved iOS will be out soon to correct for this problem

  • Only getting my side of messages to iOS in Messages

It was working fine, but yesterday started only receiving my side of messages if I originate them on my mac or not. I just get empty bubbles from whomever I am talking with, which is totally useless!
I tried deleting the file com.apple.iChat.StatusMessages.plist but that didn't help.

Still having the same problem with Messages in Snow Lion. I only get my side of messages and an empty baloon where people reply, though they still show up on my iOS devices.

  • Problem (err = -3259) downloading iOS 5.0 software from iTunes (10.5.0.142)

Thereis a problem (err = -3259) downloading iOS 5.0 software from iTunes (10.5.0.142)to my iPhone4  (v4.3.5). Laptop OSWindows 7 x64 Business Edition Service Pack 1 (Build 7601). I have trieddisabling the firewall and Kaspersky but as it finishes downloading all 774.4MBit crashes with err = -3259 saying the network connection timed out! Highlyfrustrating as it takes a while to download the software, any suggestions?

Ok, so the trouble I experienced was last week during the fury of downloading from iPhone users all over Earth. I left the problem alone from 10/14-10/18. This morning, I started again. Turned my pc on from it's previously "Shut Down" state, opened iTunes, connected the phone, attempted to DL iOS5. After 20 minutes, I got a similar message, however, this time it wasn't marked 'err-3259'. It said only verbiage to the effect of "the network timed out." I then disabled my Kaspersky and Firewall. Without hope and with much reluctance, I tried the DL again. After several minutes, while I was working on something else, I noticed my phone went into "sync" mode. The rest is history! The DL and updates completed and now the phone is working as it should with the updates (It's an iPhone 4). Lastly, I reinstated protection from Anti-virus and Firewall. Give this a try and I hope it works for you.

    Hi

I have tried reseting the network settings and forgetting my wireless connection and re-connecting to it. I even backed up my phone on itunes and restored it, factory reseted it. Nothing seems to work.
Also after my upgrade to ios 8.1 my personal hotspot option under cellular data has disappeared.
Would you please help me out? I would really appreciate it.

    Hi..
