Problems merging iCloud accounts

Hi,
My family have one iCloud account that we use for all of our devices, including mine and my sister's iPhones, so all of our music etc is synced across our devices. However, my problem is that both my sister and I have bought a new Macbook Air for university and thought it would be a good time to create new iCloud accounts to keep all of our things separate from now on. Is there anyway to transfer our music/apps from our old account onto our MacBooks and then keeping it once we connect our new accounts? I am also looking to use iMessage on my laptop, but my phone is currently attached to the old iCloud account, so won't let me use the new iCloud email as a recipient/sender option without getting rid of the iCloud on my phone, and all of its messages. Is there a way to transfer the messages (and email account?) from one iCloud account to another? I am also worried that if i do sync my iPhone to the new account I will lose my apps?
Please can you let me know if I have made any mistakes above, and what I can do to solve my problems. Thanks.

It is not possible to transfer the content of one account to another I am afraid. And, (as you are finding out) using an individual account for a family is a bad idea. 1 person can keep this account (and its content) everyone else will need an account for themselves.

  • Will there be a way to merge iCloud accounts for family sharing in iOS 8?

My family of four has 5 Apple IDs. Each of us has a personal one that we use for mail, contacts, and calendars and we all share an Apple ID for use with the iTunes and App Stores. This way, we can all currently share content without having to buy it four times. However, Apple has solved this problem in iOS 8 with family sharing.
My question is how should I handle this with my current lineup of Apple IDs. I know there's currently no way to merge two Apple IDs into one, and I don't want to just transfer my credit card to my personal Apple ID, as I will lose my purchase history. I know I could add my current "shared" ID to our family account in iOS 8, but I'd like not to have a duplicate of myself. Any advice would be appreciated!

It's not necessary to merge the iCloud and iTunes Store accounts. The Family Organizer should use their own iCloud account when setting up Family Sharing. You'll also be asked to supply the iTunes Store account you want to use to share music, movies, apps, etc., with your family during the setup process. It appears Apple has already addressed this common problem.

  • How to merge icloud accounts

I have two icloud accounts and want to merge them together. One account I bought storage on and the other I want to use as my main icloud. The goal of the merging is to have access to the storage I paid for.

You've nothing to lose by asking, but my guess is that you will be told you have to cancel the existing storage and purchase in the other account separately. You can only cancel the storage in the first 15 days after you bought it, or get a proportional refund in the following 30 days. After 45 days from the date of purchase you can't cancel it except to cancel the next year's subscription. Still, you never know your luck.

  • Big problem accessing icloud account

We have multiple devices connected to our iCloud account and just logged out using our Mac system. All devices are happily using iCloud but we can not log back into our account on the Mac and are told a mix of Can't log on at this time and ID and password not recognised.
We therefore attempted to renew the password and following the iForgot prompt got to enter the new password screen. On entering a new password we are being told that the account is currently in use and advises us to login...
Wasted time trying to use the support system as everytime I entered details of the problem in the support screens I end up with either - look at the System Status screen (which is all green) and absolutely no option to express concern.
Apple, with all the money you make, eitehr provide a robust iCloud service or at the minimum provide somewhere people can go when it starts to fall apart

Thanks Lanny, unfortunately when we encountered the problem, no issue was being shown on the status page as mentioned, our frustration is that although they include a contact support on that display if you have issues that are not shown, it just takes you back to the self help system with no means of reporting an issue anywhere...
    Thanks anyway...

  • Merging icloud accounts (with storage plans)

Hi all! For reasons I cannot possibly recall I now manage TWO different icloud accounts. With one account I have also purchased a storage plan, but the device is connected to the other one.
What I wish to do is to merge both accounts into the account I am logged in with on my device. However, this is NOT the account I have the storage plan purchased on. I believe I have to transfer the storage plan and the contents from the old account to the new one, and hopefully close (or simply desert) the one unused.
    Is that even possible?
    Thanks!

Sign out of the account you do not wish to use, sign into the one that you do wish to use.

  • How do I solve problem with iCloud account?

When I try  to sign in to my iCloud account at iCloud.com I get a message that I need to establish an account on my iPad.m,imhave an account on my iPad. Mi checked all the settings and they are on.  iCloud seems to be working on my iPad so I don't know  what to do about  this message I'm getting and why I cannot check my stuff stored there.

    OOOOOHHH! Okay.
Yeah, iCloud.com is useless on an iOS device. The website is only for accessing iCloud on a browser from a computer. No matter what you try, accessing iCloud.com on iOS will tell you to set it up.
You can access your iCloud contacts in the Address Book app, bookmarks in Safari, email in Mail, calendars in Calendar, etc. There is no need to visit iCloud.com. All of these can be turned on or off in the Settings app (under iCloud).

  • Is there a way to un-merge icloud accounts once its already been done?, is there a way to un-merge icloud accounts once its already been done?

I accidentally merged two acocunts and want to undo it. Is there anything I can do?

How did you merge them?  Unless you copied and synced all data from one account to another manually, there's no way to automatically merge two accounts.
But, if you did manually move files from one account to the other, you'll have to manually move files from the merged account that belong to the other.
If I've misunderstood your meaning, please post again, giving details on how you "merged" two accounts.

  • How to merge iCloud account and .mac email

On my iPhone 4S my "iCloud" account, in the "Account" field, is my Apple usnermane, which just so happens to be a personal email address (non Apple). But I want to have my .me email address on the iPhone, so I added it (iOS labels it .mac instead of .me, not sure why). But all that happens is that I end up with another mail account that has "[email protected]" in the "Account" field. I can't seem to get the iOS5 to see these as indistinguishible and as one mail account. Any ideas?

If the old ID is yours, and if it is an earlier version of your current ID, go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll.  When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

  • Merging icloud accounts

Hey! Is there a way to merge two icoulds together...or a way to delete one of them?

I'm afraid you can't merge accounts. You could of course manually transfer calendar, contacts and other data manually from one account to the other, but you can't move the email addresses between accounts.
You can't delete an account from the server - of course you can disconnect your Mac or device from it by signing out, and just forget about it.

  • How to undo the merge of two iCloud accounts?

I accidentally merged the account I created for my Son's Ipod with mine. Now all the texts he sends form it end up on my Icloud in my phone and MacBook. How can I undo?

You can't merge iCloud accounts and iMessage is nothing to do with iCloud anyway.
All you need to do is go into Settings > Messages > Send & Receive and change the AppleIDs you use to be different to have separate iMessages.

  • Mavericks, Mail 7.0, iCloud account problem

Upgraded to Mavericks, now iCloud mail is off line.  Problem with iCloud account.  It looks like it cannot save the password.
Any ideas how to fix this??
If I send out an email, it will ask for my password and then work fine.  If I close and reopen the problem reutrns.
I do not have this problem with my MBA. Upgrade went fine, all mail accounts work.
    I found the answer!!
Mail = Pref= Accounts = Advance = Pull down menu - chnage auth: from password to Apple token.

I've been having this same problem. It seems to occure in both Mail app and Text Edit.
When I have a body of text, and I try to select a part of it, or click to set my cursor somewhere in it, the new text that I begin to type suddenly appears down the row somewhere else -- obviously where I had no intention of typing it.
Another issue that sprung up at the same time as this, was that Mail app will not automatically attach a signature file to my mail anymore. It always has to be manually selected from the pull-down in the new message window.
Both of these issus began immediately when I upgraded to Mavericks, and have even transferred over to a brand new computer when the user account was migrated over.

  • Can i merge to icloud accounts

I just got the iphone 5 and want to merge my icloud acct.  It seems it's a different account email than when I set it up for my IPAD2 several months ago.  Any advice?

You can't merge iCloud accounts, but you can move it to your other account by going to Settings>iCloud and tapping Delete Account (if you need to migrate the data on your iPhone to the other account be sure to select Keep On iPhone at the prompt).  Then set up the other account on your iPhone and turn your syncing back to On, and when prompted, choose Merge.

  • How do I delete all iCloud accounts from different places to consolidate them? Also one of the email addresses is locked so will the material bought from iTunes there be acceptable? Thanks.

From the title of the above problems the iCloud accounts are on 2 PCs and one iPad2.

In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account").
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your computer, you need to sign out of the account from your computer first, then sign back in using your updated details. (System Preferences > iCloud, click the sign out button)
You'll need to decide whether to keep info on the device or merge it at the appropriate time when prompted.

  • I'm paying for the 25GB of iCloud memory for an old iCloud account.  how can i convert that over to my new account?

I have changed from a @me to @gmail login for iCloud.  my new one only has 5GB and my old one when I log in says that i have 25GB.  how do i convert the new one to the 25GB and not pay for the old one?

You can't merge iCloud accounts, nor can you actually delete an iCloud account. All you can do is stop using it. You manage storage as follows:
    Mac OS X
From the Apple () menu, choose System Preferences.
    Click the iCloud icon.
Click Manage in the lower-right corner.
Click View Account in the lower-left corner.
Enter the password for your iCloud account, then click View Account and follow the prompts.
    Note this from Apple:
"When you request a downgrade, it will take effect one year after your storage upgrade was initially purchased."
That would imply there are no refunds.
