Problems not viewing full content on web browser

I'm working in Captivate 5.5. I've created a project in 1024 x 768 and re-scaled and tried it in a number of other (smaller) sizes.  I have three computers of varying age and screen size in the house.  When I re-play the project on the different computers I will often get it come up in a size which the browser won't support.
This has varied from only portraying a small 2" by 2" size image - to filling the screen so much that I can't get to the bottom task bars or forward/back buttons.  On one computer it has a scroll bar at the right and on the other is doesn't even have this.  It plays well on my widescreen laptop.  All my computers use IExplorer as the browser.  I have tried a number of the sizes in re-scaling and also changed the html text from 800 x 600 to 100% by 100%.  I still have this problem - and as I'm publishing onto a remote LMS through an external company to which I will re-direct learners - this is threatening to really scupper my whole project and business.  Can anyone help?  Is there a good fix.   I would be so grateful for any advice!

Thanks - I appreciate you help and comment.  I think it's a bit of a tough one - I will normally be publishing to an external LMS either on a remote organisations server or through a company that I have just signed up with to host on their LMS remotely (for which I pay a monthly fee).  I perhaps wrongly thought that if it was hosted in either of the above circumstances that it would automatically size against the original.  My problem will be that I will alway have a wide variety of users - with different computers and probably some different browsers.  I started as the ball park publishing in 1024 by 768 as that was the advice I was given for common PowerPoint etc. I am obviously not that skilled and perhaps naive?  I always use the Captivate generated platform for all content and am probably getting out of my depth playing around with the bits of HTML etc. Not sure if that answers your question - but I might have a problem understanding the full extent of the end users size needed?  Is there a lowest common denominator that you would suggest I work to?  Many thanks!

  • AdobeAcrobat/Reader that is running can not be used to view PDF Files in Web Browser...what do I need to do to fix this..

I just got Windows 7 and have been having problems since loading it. Most of my drivers only go to Vista and don't recognize 7.
I have trying to download some manuals from their website
and keep getting this message; Adobe Acrobat/reader that is running can not be used to view PDF files in Web Browser.

Could I suggest a workaround for PDFs until a solution is posted? Open them directly in the Adobe application rather than in a browser tab.
In your Adobe application(s), go to:
    Edit > Preferences > Internet
Then uncheck "Display PDF in browser"
(There are very few sites where having PDF integrated is really beneficial.)

  • Reader 8.1.2 does not allow reading PDF within Web browser???

Adobe updated my perfectly working reader with version 8.1.2, then I received the following message:
"Cannot use Adobe Reader to view PDF in your Web browser. Reader will now exit. Please exit your browser and try again."
I un-installed 8.1.2 and cleaned up the registry.
Re-installed 7.0.9 and finally I am back in business.
Now Adobe insists in wanting to install 8.1.1 AND IS CONSTANTLY placing a pop up to offer me the new version WHICH DOES NOT WORK!
How do I get that popup to go away?
    Thanks.

I believe that I found a fix for this by going into 'My Computer'>Tools>Folder Options>File Types, where I changed the 'destination' file used to open PDF files from the older Adobe that was listed to the most recently installed version (8.1.2) (which is AcroRd32.exe, not simply AcroRd.exe). This change now shows up when I'm opening a downloaded PDF file; the automatic program to do so is now indicated as the newly installed Adobe 8.1.2 (i.e. AcroRd32.exe). My other PDF files are now opening automatically as well.

  • Cannot use Adobe to view pdf in your web browser

Running Acrobat Standard 8 on a Windows 7 machine with 4 gig of memory.  Upon installing Acrobat 8 on Windows 7 I get a pop-up window everytime I try to open a pdf in a web browser.  Using IE8 and FF 3.5 both give me the same error.
"Cannot use Adobe Reader to view pdf in your web browser.  Reader will now exit.  Please exit your browser and try again. (attached)"
    Thanks in advance
    Darrell

I'm having the exact same problem. After clicking OK on the dialogue the pdf file loads just fine.
Checked the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\SOFTWARE\Adobe\Acrobat\Exe key - Acrobat is pointing to the right place. There are no references to acrord32.exe in the registry at all.
I've removed, reinstalled and installed all the latest patches, but nothing seems to help.

  • How to send really Chinese word, not the string "&# number " to web browser

Each Chinese word on page sending to web browser is translated to a string in form "&#<number>" by default, it's a problem when Chinese word is included in url. How to specify sending really Chinese word, not the string "&#<number>" to web browser?

Thanks that seems to make much more sense, still having some troubles though.
Ok so now the majority of it seems to be working and it seems to be sending the String just fine. And I'm having it send the String to the BufferedWriter "out" and then using the newLine() method to send a carriage return but the BufferedReader on "in" seems to not detect the carriage return.
I have it doing a readLine() so that (as I understand it) it should be blocking, waiting until an end of line character so I assume each call of newLine() should have it pick up something but a quick breakpoint shows that it never stops blocking on readLine().
I assume the connection is fine because the application running as server uses the socket object returned by the accept() method.
Is there something I've perhaps misunderstood about the BufferedReader's readLine() method?
Here's the new version of my netbeans project:
    http://rapidshare.com/files/371224512/KerazehDood.rar
Also on a different line of questioning, I'm just wondering about socket convention.
I was thinking it'd be useful in a game similar to what I'm attempting to make to not only send player position information but also client keypress information, I was just wondering, if you're doing something like that would it be frowned upon to use two separate ports? I think it would make the implementation far more legible and easy to structure but wasn't sure if applications usually try to stick to only one port or not.
    Thanks.

  • "Cannot use adobe reader to view pdf in your web browser" error in Windows 7 and Acrobat pro 8.1.7

I get the error "Cannot use adobe reader to view pdf in your web browser.  Reader will now exit.  Please exit your browser and try again" in Windows 7 x32 and Windows 7 x64 with Acrobat pro 8.1.7.  This happens when trying to open  a PDF file in Internet explorer 8.0.760 or when I open a PDF in Quickbooks 2008.  If I answer ok or cancel the file opens normally.  If I open acrobat 8 first then the pdf files open as expected.  I also tried a copy of Acrobat reader with no difference in the outcome.  Since this happens on two different computers one fresh copy of windows 7 x64 the other an upgrade to windows 7 x32 and they used to work before the change to windows 7, I assume there is some kind of incompatibility with windows 7 and acrobat.  Is this a known issue and will it be fixed in an update to acrobat in the near future?

tvandersluijs - I'm sorry if that screwed up your machine however:
    1. What version of Adobe Reader are you using because as you can see the registry entry is for Adobe Reader 9, if ur using Adobe Reader 8 then u need to specify ur version as PAllens entry suggested - "E.g. "C:\Program files\Adobe\Acrobat [version]\Reader\AcroRd32.exe""
    2. I've used this solution significantly because I have come across this specific issue for multiple users.
    3. All the registry entry does is tell Windows what program to use by default to open/view PDF documents.
My intention wasn't to screw up ur machine or anybody elses as I said I've used this solution many times however what I've should gave is the disclaimer to backup ur registry before u make mods so u can revert back in case. Also the ony other thing I can think of is that this solution was for Windows XP using registry editior 5, I'm noticing that the title of this thread is Windows 7.

Installed Acrobat XI but getting message from a website that I need "a later version of PDF viewer to view full contents of this document".  How to fix this?

THe message is misleading. Save the file to your desktop, even though all you see is the message. Then, open the saved file in Reader.

  • Acrobat X pro - Problem viewing PDF files in web browser

I've recently upgraded to the latest Imac and have experianced one or two teething problems with software compatibility with OS X 10.7.1 Lion (most now resolved)
My latest issue is viewing online PDF's which appear in my browser as just a blank black page. This happens in both Safari and Firefox (both latest versions)
My question is: Does anyone have any ideas on how to solve this?

I was able install and view the files in adobe reader 10.1.1 and in web browser window 7 64 bit machine.  But when I go to Edit-preferences-internet and  unchecking "display PDF in Browser" , I am not able to view the pdf files in ie 9 browser.  I have used this javscript to check for pdf version.
    Immediately after installing adobe--
when I do adobe test in ie 9---https://courses.worldcampus.psu.edu/public/diagnostics/Acrobat.html--  launches a test pdf file--Acro_Test.pdf
After unchecking-- it stays in the  https://courses.worldcampus.psu.edu/public/diagnostics/Acrobat.html instead of showing test pdf file--Acro_Test.pdf
Tried to go back to "display PDF in Browser"--it is showing it is checked(eventhough I did not check it)
    and in ie
it stays in the https://courses.worldcampus.psu.edu/public/diagnostics/Acrobat.html instead of showing test pdf file--Acro_Test.pdf

  • Viewing pvt calendars via web browser securely and remotely - not sharing

Everything in the iCal section is geared towards "sharing" which is...well...just weird. I need to be able to view my calendar info when I'm not at my imac desktop, and I need to do this from any computer web browser, over the net, securely. I don't want to publish my calendar info for anyone else but me to see. This seems like a fairly obvious application, not everyone carries a crackberry, but I see no way of doing this. I'm sure I'm just missing some obscure article somewhere...Thanks in advance!

My last comment on this is.
I'm using the gmail calendar, and have a program called "Spanning Sync"
    to synchronize them.
If .mac could provide me with a working Calendar functionality, I would
have bought it. But now I'm content with using gmail instead.
Of course .mac has other functionality, but I only need email and calendar,
sync:ed and accessible from work, home-mac and mobile.
I think eventually, Apple will realize that their Calendar solution can be
    improved and do this.

  • 39L4333DG - cannot display Flash content in web browser

    Hello,
When I try to access Flash sites the web browser shows 'Missing plugin' in the frame where flash player should display the content.
    Am I omitting anything?
I have installed the latest firmware: 7.1.90.34.01.1.
For a 2013 TV it is annoying not to have a full featured web browser on a SMART TV.
Is there any chance to have a full web browser in the next firmware version?
    Thank you.

When I had similar problems the response from Toshiba was that the browser is only intended for limited use. My problem was not being able to access any site which required a password. Not rocket science you would think!

  • Newb: cannot view PDF files in Web Browser

I have a new Windows 7 computer & have installed Acrobat Standard 9.3.2 and Reader 9.3.1.
Whenever I attempt to "download" (i.e. view) a PDF in IE browser (or Firefox 3.6), I get the following error message:
"The Adobe Acrobat/Reader that is running can not be used to view PDF files in a Web Browser.
Adobe Acrobat/Reader version 8 or 9 is required.  Please exit and try again."
The error remains the same regardless of whether Acrobat or Reader is running/not running prior to download attempt.  My work-around solution is to save the file to disk, & then open it.  This is a pain & should not be necessary.
Any advice that anyone can give me to correct this problem will be received with great thanks!

Thanks for your prompt & accurate response, John!
With hindsight, I realise that I downloaded Reader when another install program told me that I needed it.
It would have helped me if the Acrobat install program had warned me in big colored type, not to install Reader...
    I am happy now....

  • Gnome not recognising Ice Cat as web browser

I've installed a few days ago Ice Cat and I wanted to use it as my default web browser, the only problem is it doesn't appear in my settings as a browser.
I already made a .desktop file for it specifying it was a web browser and adding a %U to the Exec=appPath line and created the proper Mime files according to the Wiki.
The only thing I did different is that instead of being logged in as a user I'm always root (I know, not a great idea) so I used /usr/share/mime instead of ~/.local/share/mime but there shouldn't be any issues.
Does anyone know why could this be?

I don't want to beat a dead horse, but hopefully can clarify a point: most users will tell you that running X as root is bad; there is truth to that, but it is not some mystical rule.  Other users who really know what they are doing chose to run X as root.  But in neither case would someone run something as root simply because it doesn't work as a regular user.
    $ command
    Some unrecongnized error
    $ sudo command
That is a recipe for disaster.  If something doesn't work as you expected, learn about that thing, don't just hit it with a bigger hammer.  If something goes horribly wrong when running some new command as a regular user, you can fix it.  If something goes horribly wrong when running a new command as root, your only hope is that full system backup you just made.
As for the settings menu - is it supposed to show up there?  Doesn't the menu need to be configured to show what you want? How does the menu work, from where does it gather information for it's entries (I don't really know, I don't use gnome).

None of my photo gallery photos are showing up in a computer's Web browser?  They show up fine when you click "View Web Journal in Safari" on an iPad 2, but when I publish them to iCloud and Share the Web Journal Link, the photos don't show up??  It's happening with all of my Journals.  It doesn't work on a Mac or Windows?  What gives??

Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh, matey. They all show for me in Safari but require several page refreshes to get them all to display.  Those that don't display will if I click on it and then go back to the page.  However, when retuning to the first page will put be back at square one and require multiple refreshes to get them to display, but not always.
Also, the page links are all messed up.  Clicking on them just returns me to the first page. If I Option click on a page link from Page 1 I will get to the right page.
I am unable to get Firefox or Chrome to work at all on your gallery.
