Problems on publishing projects in PWA 2013

Hi everybody,
I've got an issue with publishing my projects on pwa 2013.
At first it seems that everything is in good
order but after
we realize that instead of the total
hours allocated to the milestone is
equal to 0.
Then we go
on the project, we edit it and
publish it again, ma it appears the following screenshot:
How can I fix this issue? In my queue Jobs itdoesn't
appears nothing to indicate the failure to publish.

We've installed Service Pack 1 on our Project Server 2013,
at first it seemed
to have solved the problembut today it
has come back again.
We realized it because the report of TimesheetActualshad less hours than expected
and we found that this
difference was due to the non-publication
of the project.
Do you have any other ideas??

Just to clarify, are you looking to create a project in PWA once a PO has been approved? If that's the case you can use the 'Create Projects' option available in Project Server 2013. Also you can create the projects through the SharePoint workflows

Predecessors alignment with multiple Enterprise Projects in PWA 2013

Dear All,
I was writing about Process alignment concept for my org. At one instance , something came in my mind that if we create 5 different Projects called as Enterprise Project Template then how we can assign Predecessors to task as all these 5 EP having some task
which are connected with each other for scheduling .
So is there any possibility to connect them from each other w.r.t Task even though they are separate EP templates in PWA 2013?

If I understood your question correctly, the tasks in 5 project plans can be linked (via MS Project) once the projects have been created based on the project plan templates (the links will not be saved correctly in the project plan templates).
An alternative would be to create and event handler/some custom code to link of the tasks in the 5 projects, once the project have been created based on the project plan templates. The question would be (mainly for your processes) how would the projects
be identified or maybe you already have an order in which the projects are created?

assuming you want to use Project Server 2013 (there is no 2012).
If you want to get everything from 2007 into 2013, you should perform a migration:

If you only need to get certain projects, you can save them as local file from 2007 and re-save them to 2013.

Error Message when opening Project Plan on Project Professional from PWA 2013 using either Google Chrome or Firefox

One of our clients uses Google Chrome
as their standard navigator to open PWA 2013 that we have deployed for them.
Every thing went fine until we tried to open a project plan using Project Professional 2013 from PWA using the Edit in Project Professional option, we had the below error:
"Project Web App was unable to find the specified Project.
the project was not found on Project Web App. some possible reasons include:
The Project has not yet been saved successfully to the server.
The Project has been deleted on the server.
you don’t have adequate permissions to open this project.
if the project is available in the local cache, you can click the globe in the status bar and select "Work offline", and then open the project, if the problem continues, contact
your administrator."
Please note that IE is working fine with this scenario,
the belwo screenshot shows the error that appears to the users.

(why don't you just tell the PM to use Internet Explorer instead of Google Chrome?
I suspect that this problem reveals that PWA does not work perfectly in browsers other than the Internet

so I would simply mandate that all PMs and TMs need to use Internet Explorer for Project Server.

Problem after installation Project Server 2013 CU September 9, 2014

Dear All,
I have some problems after installation
Project Server 2013 CU September 9, 2014 (Hotfix 2883072) on 3 level farm
Before installing CU, I have installed
SP1 for Project Server 2013, installation and configuration was successful.
Then I have installed CU and I have not get any errors during installation process. Then I have restarted servers and in SharePoint health analyzer got an error about patch/installation status
on WFE server.
I checked in Windows installed updates and hotfix is installed. I checked in SharePoint Update and Upgrade history and there were no errors during installation. But when I checked in Manage
Patch Status list I found an information:

The problem was solved !
I solve it using two ways:
1. I have installed the hotfix for Project Server - Hotfix for Project Server 2013 October 14, 2014 KB 2889959 (Projectserverwfe-x-none.msp, Projectservermui-Language-Code.msp)
2. using command
Psconfig -cmd upgrade -inplace b2b -force -cmd applicationcontent -install -cmd installfeatures -cmd installcheck -noinstallcheck
After two actions I was able to run SharePoint Configuration Wizard and upgrade database. Configuration completed successful.

it may be your browser. CHeck the folloinwg
1) Turn on Compatibilty mode
2) Security Options / Make it a local trusted site
3) Turn of Protected Mode in the browser under Security

Project server 2013 PWA - Can't open project in PWA

When attempting to open a project in PWA the following message is generated:
An error occurred while opening your project. Give us a few minutes and try again. If this happens again, contact your administrator.
It happens in all PWA sites.
In addition you can open and edit the projects using Project Pro without any problem.
Any suggestions?

Can you run the below command in SharePoint Management shell:
set-spprojectpcssettings -maximumworkerscount 260
Once done restart the Project Services and then check the behavior.

Unable to save/publish Projects on Project Server 2010() using Project Pro 2007 and 2010

Hi,
Recently we have upgraded from Project Server 2007 to 2010 SP-2 (BCM enabled) environment and from last few days we are getting issue with Project Plans where PMs are not able to update Projects means save and publish the Project using MS Project 2010/2007.
Whenever PMs try to open project using MS Project 2010 SP-2, it gets load successfully but when they hit save and publish no jobs are getting fired up nothing is happening. Only way to get out from MS Project 2010 window is to close the Project window and
and click discard changes. No error and exception windows are popping out in MS Project 2010, no error/problem/issue clue at all from MS Project 2010.
But when I try to update this Project plan for very first time using MS Project 2007 Sp-2 then I am getting below error
for any subsequent save and publish using MS Project 2007-SP2 getting below error
As an alternative I have tried to open this Project Plan using web and there it is getting opened saved and published successfully from PWA absolutely no issue.
Also I have saved this Project locally as XML and saved and published it on Server successfully. But after someday again this project got corrupt PMs started getting same problem again
I have also looked at ULS logs but not getting anything useful there.
So any guesses why this could happen that can give me pointers to find actual root cause, please let me know.

Used below steps to fix the Projects on MSP 2010.
1) Open corrupted project in MS Project connected to PS 2010 Prod env.
2) Goto > Resource > Add Resource > Build Team From Enterprise
3) Check is there any local resource who has not replaced with corresponding enterprise resource. If yes then replace all those local resources with enterprise resource. If not then move to next step.
4) Open resource sheet view and sort or filter by local resources.
5) Then add few columns in resource sheet view like "Windows User Account, Email Address , Base Calendar etc".
6) Now check has any local resource having enterprise attribute assigned to it, if yes then delete or assign local value as appropriate.
7) Then GoTo > File > Save & Send > Save as project file > Save for sharing (at local location)
8) Close project plan window and click "Yes" to save changes.
9) Restart MS Project 2010 and open your project from local location.
10) Then Goto > File > Save & Send > "Publish to Project Server". This will open "Import Project Wizard" to validate Resources and Task in Project.
11) Then in Import Project Wizard window at left hand side click "Map Resource" to validate project resources.
12) This will "Map Project Resource to Enterprise Resource " check all the resources highlighted with "Red" font and map "Standard" calendar to local resources.
Note: Don't worry about local resource assigned "Standard calendar" but still highlighted "Red".
13) Then click "OK" and click on "Continue to step 2" at bottom of "Import Project Wizard".
14) Make sure you get number of errors 0 in step 2, else click on validate resource and take proper corrective action as explained in step 6.
15) If you leave at least one resource as a local resource (unmapped to an enterprise resource), you will see the local resource in the Import Resource grid on the right side
of the Confirm Resources page.
Examine the value in the "Import" column (if not able to see this column then insert this as new column) for the local resource .
The default value is "Yes", then change the value in the "Import" column
to "No", else system will import the local resource as an enterprise
resource.
16) Then "Continue to step 3, 4 and 5".
17) Then at Step 5 , Save project to Project Server by clicking "Save as" link.
18) Then publish the project to update the plan at PWA 2010.

Approvals grid in PWA 2013 receives an exception for a user

I have a user that is no longer able to view their approvals from PWA 2013. They are getting a General Unhandled Exception error instead. Nothing is writing to the queue or the ULS logs when this occurs. The message they are getting on
the screen is "General Unhandled Exception in _Statusing.ReadStatusApprovalsForProjectForGridJson_". Does anyone know how to fix this problem or identify what is causing it to occur? There is no custom development at this time and everything
is Out of the Box. Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

This could be because of ASSN_TRANS_TYPE_ENUM value was set to 7.
Can you execute the following query on the PWA database to find if there are any assignment transactions with value 7
select * from pub.MSP_ASSIGNMENT_TRANSACTIONS where ASSN_TRANS_TYPE_ENUM=7
In case the query returns any value then I would suggest that you raise a support ticket with Microsoft as we might have to clear the erroneous entries
from the PWA DB.

Could I lose work by opening a project from PWA instead of Project?

Here is the scenario:
Due to network problems PMs are using autosave to save the project every 15 minutes.
Project manager1 creates a plan, edits it and publishes the plan from Project Pro. They close and check in the plan.
Project manager2 opens the plan, edits it and saves the plan in Project Pro. Makes lots of changes, but DOESN'T publish the plan.
Project manager1 reopens the plan for editing in Project Pro FROM PWA, doesn't see any of the changes made by PM2, but continues to edit and save the project every 5 minutes.
Project manager1 realizes the plan appears different. Is it? Did PM1 get the published version from opening from PWA, and by editing and saving that in PWA did they overwrite the changes that PM2 made back over the version in the Draft
database?
In the real world, it appears that is what happened. Luckily the previous draft version was backed up in archive, so we were able to restore that one, and only lose a little work.
I thought I had seen every way a plan could get mangled, but this was an interesting nuance I would like to understand.
For some reason, even though I know that the published version displays on PWA, I thought that if I opened a project from PWA in Project Pro for editing, I would get the draft version by default. Is that not the case?
Would love some thoughts from the experts out there...

Your understanding is correct. You should open it in Draft (assuming it was in Edit mode). It's possible that they opened the PDP but forgot to hit Edit - in which case they wouldn't see unpublished changes.

Project Online (PWA) Task Notes not visible

Hi,
Im using Microsoft Project 2013 Pro to manage projects.
Now i started to let my engineers use MS Project Online (Office365) to work on their tasks through PWA.
I have several projects created with tasks and on every task there is a Note with the description of the work that needs to be done.
My engineers dont use the Full version of MS Project 2013 and cant see these notes within the Web portal of Project Online (PWA).
Where can i find these notes online?
I tried to change the view but cant find any option to add the notes.
Opening a task doesnt give me the notes either.

This is available in both Project Online and Project Server 2013 - this functionality is the same.
To update the PWA Project view, login as a user that has admin access to PWA and navigate to PWA Settings then Manage Views. Choose the view/s where you wish users to see the task notes and click it, this will take you to the view settings. You will see
a list of fields available. You will see "Notes" available in the list of fields.
On the Tasks page (accessible from the PWA Homepage - Tasks link on the quick launch or the Tasks tile), click the task name and scroll down the page, the notes will be near the bottom.

I create an enterprise project template in Project Professional but when I go to create a project in PWA the formattting does not carry through to the project

I created an enterprise template in Project Professional and formatted it and set the font to Gill Sans MT, I then pointed the Project type to this project template.
When I created the new project type in PWA the formatting and font did not carry through to the new project.
Has anyone seen this behaviour before?

Do you find that if you create a project in project professional using a template and then save it the formatting is shown OK? So you only see this problem when you are creating the project from PWA and the plan template is picked up via the Enterprise Project

ALBPM5.7: Problem in executing Project on Enterprise

I'm trying to execute a ALBPM project(fpr) on enterprise.
My Project includes some external jar files and when I execute the project it throws me "class not found" exception for the classes in jar file.
I got around the problem of publishing my project by putting the jasrs at these locations(install/ext, webapps/webconsole/WEB-INF/lib).
Please help.Thanks.

In order to reference imported JAR-files in a Enterprise, include them
in the user domain itself. If I remember correctly it is in the ext or
lib directory.
