Problems open word files gmail

When I want to save an attached Word file from gmail, want to save the program with a completely different and really long file name - desutom can not file to either save or open, it works the other hand, in Outlook.Jag have managed to save a ye go on my desktop but then saved it as an HTML page and not as a word document.
To uninstall Firefox and use explorer 9 but I still have the same problem.

You use to open Word document with the FREE Application "OpenOffice" I use it myself an it's great. You can find it via Google.

Problems opening word files with Word 2011 from a Windows 2012 server volume

Here is what we are seeing. Open any Word document on our server with Word 2011 (mac) results in an excruciating delay. Even a simple one page document will take over a minute to open up. The same document opened from the desktop of the mac opens in
2 seconds.
In troubleshooting this I turned on invisibles for my mac and watched the folder on the server where the file resides. Here is what I noticed.
1. If I open that file from a windows computer there is an invisible temp file created for the file that disappears when I close the document. The file opens on the Windows 7 machine with Office 2010 very quickly (2 seconds)
2. If I open the file from my mac with the preview of Word 2016 the same temp file is created and the file opens very quickly. (2 seconds).
3. If I open the file from my mac with Word 2011 it takes over a minute and I don't get a temp file on the server. Closing the document takes just as long.
So, what I am guessing is that Word 2011 is trying to create the temp file, tries for a minute, and finally gives up and opens the file anyway. When I close the file I am guessing it is looking for that temp file and finally gives up after a minute and closes
the file anyway.
Any insights as to what is going on would be appreciated. Our users are very frustrated with this situations.

I just upgraded to Yosemite and could no longer open some of my word document files. Is there anybody having the same problem? How do I fix this?

What version of Word are you using? Try un-installing Office and re-installing it.

Hi Everyone,
I cannot open Word File because "there are problems with the contents" unspecified error; Location: 2. Please help as I need this doc for work meeting this morning. Nothing special about this doc but links were copied into it??? However I do that all the time. I have never had this happen before. I am on a 2010 machine. I just ran a disk permissions repaired and emptied the trash but still no dice. I had several other word docs up as well when I got up this morning but they are all fine. I do not have Time Capsule turned on (which I need to do but that will be another thread/question).

Ok, I found a way to open this but not sure what happened to begin with and the formatting setup is different now, almost like text editor? Not sure what happened here but hope it doesn't happen again?

Opening Word Files in pages

Sorry if this has been asked before......
I recently converted from PC to iMac and bought myself a copy of Pages as part of iWork which (for me) is much nicer than MS word. One question though, is there any rules about what you can and can't open in terms of PC created word .doc files? I did a bit of experimenting and found that files on a USB memory stick open fine but when I look at my old PC's files across the network I get a message saying unable to open. Do files need to be local i.e I need to transfer to my HD? Is there a setting I need to change etc.?

i've had no problems opening word docs from any version including .docx in pages. however you can't save them in .docx format.
i have also no experienced the problem you have with network files. i can open files on a network share in pages (be they word docs or pages documents) without issue.
could it be someone was editing the word doc you tried to open or you opened the temp file created by doc for autosaving? i've noticed the new version of word on the pc does not do a good job of cleaning those temp files up and have tried opening a few of them myself.

If you are in fact running Mac OS 9 or earlier, which is from 2001 or earlier, .dmg files are disk image files like the .smi files used under Mac OS 9, but they are only Mac OS X compatible. They are frequently used to store Mac OS X only installer disk image files. .exe files are are Windows and MS-DOS executable files which can only run with Windows or DOS virtualization:

Most Mac OS 9 programs you'll be able to download either have a .sea, .sit, or .hqx suffix in their file name and are able to be opened with the old Mac OS 9 copy of Stuffit Expander.

Can't open word files sent from my 9500 to E90

Can some one please help me,
word documents sent to my E90 from my 9500 won't open,
message says :Unable to open file not supported,
It all started with data mover, Contact & Calendar entries are fine but document folders are recognised but won't open,
Nokia suggested using drag & drop, using Pc suit
with the 9500 connected drag all wanted files from the phone into my Pc then connect the E90 and reverse the process, files appear but I can't open them,
Then I was told to e-mail from my Pc as an attachment,
did'nt work either, doesn't matter how you get the files into the E90 you don't seem to be able to open them.
So, is it possable to get word files into an E90 from a 9500

Me again, opened and a file in my 9500 and saved it in MS Word 97 then using Pc Suit copied it from one phone into the other, but once again I get the same message (Unable to open.. File type not supported)
I don't know if all E90's come with the same programs pre-loaded, in mine I have a program entitled Quick Office in which it says you can open and manipulate Word files along with Excel and also Lotus Notes but first you have to purchase and download software from Nokia to activate it,
I have found that if I go into Quick Office and write a document in word then save it, I get the same message as above when I try to open it,
As I said in my previous message, I suspect I will have to purchase the Quick Office software from Nokia,

Problem opening PDF files for Adobe Reader.
I installed the latest adobe reader for my Mac. Everything is set up. Every time i go to open a pdf file, this shows up...
"Before viewing PDF documents in this browser you must launch adobe reader and accept the End User Licence Agreement, then quit and relaunch the browser."
I installed it through the adobe reader website for free. And even though it says 'by clicking "install now" you are agreeing to accept the user licence agreement terms and conditions' it still says i need to accept the T&C's.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling it and same thing over and over again.
Can someone help!?!?!

Did you actually try doing what the message suggests? Open Adobe Reader and accept the EULA?

My clients that are using Macs are having problems opening password protected PDFs that I created in Windows. Any suggestions?

Are your clients using Adobe Reader on Mac, or the built-in Mac OS Preview? Preview does NOT support the full PDF standard :(.

Problems opening pdf-files from KM of portal

Hi,
we store documents in our portal in KM. When I use pdf-files that where not saved with Office2007 tools I get the problem, that I can open the file once. If I open it the second time I get the error message "file doesn't start with "%PDF-". and the file will not be opend. If I delete the temporary files in the internet explorer, the file can be opended, again.
If I open the file directly in the internet explorer I don't have those problems, so it seems, that the portal uses a different viewer than the internet explorer itself.
Has anyone an idea how to solve this problem?

I think this is a known issue.
Affected versions:
o KMC SAP NetWeaver 7.0 (formerly named 2004s) SP 14
o KMC SAP NetWeaver 7.0 (formerly named 2004s) SP 15
If you have the above KMC and SP Versions then you need to follow the below SAP note:
Note 1146711 - Problem opening PDF files.
Have you checked the belowSAP Note?

I cannot get adobe to open my pdf files. Not from internet nor from desktop.
I downloads fine,. I have installed and reinstalled several times.
If I try to open it looks like it opens but closes immediately. I tried to open adobe, but nothing. A grey screen and that's it. I cannot access the help button

Problem opening .dmg files?

Hi all,
I've recently been having problems opening .dmg files -- specifically for a recent Adobe update, and the latest VLC update.
Checking with their support, it seems that it's not a problem that others are experiencing.
I get the following message:
I'm on the 2007 27" iMac, with my OS (SL) being up to date.

Could be either.
Check out your own stuff as far as you can. Your router diagnostics page should be able to tell you what sort of download speed you're getting, or you can use SpeedTest http://speedtest.net/
Check your phone line from the main terminal to the router for loose connections, kinks that may be hiding broken wires and such. Check or replace the line filter that seperates the modem line from the phone.
Then get your ISP to check out their end, and the phone company likewise.
Hope you can find the source.

Try this:
1. Close all apps in the Task Bar. Double-click the Home button and hold apps down for a second or two. Tap the minus sign to close app.
2. Hold the Sleep and Home button down until you see the Apple Logo.
