Problems Opening Adobe Photoshop

I just installed Adobe Photoshop Elements 3.0, a seemingly ancient version, but one I'm quite content with. Unfortunately I keep getting an error saying "Could not complete your request because of missing or invalid personalization information." and the program will not open. I haven't a clue on how to find out what information I am missing and how to correct it.
I'm not sure if it's relevant or not, but I had it previously installed on my PC laptop, it worked perfectly fine until my hard drive died and my screen exploded forcing me to get a new computer, which is a Mac desktop.
I've been scouring the forums and support threads with no luck, any input would be greatly appreciated.

I am having exactly the same problem with my install. I have had Elements 3 on my PC and wanted to install it on my new Macbook as it is compatible with both. (This came with my Wacom.) It loads, says it is installed and then when I try to open it I get the "Cannot complete...etc."  The only suggestion I have seen that I haven't tried was creating a new user account- I have seen a few other suggestions but it seems they are for people who have had another version installed and then tried to install this version. I finally gave up! It seems like a simple issue. I have also read that the program was designed pre-Intel for the Mac operating system. I am new to Macs so I have no idea if this is the problem. I understood Rosetta is supposed to take care of that? I too like this program despite its age-if it ain't broke...

Problem opening Adobe Photoshop Elements 13

After unzipping Photoshop Elements 13, I received a error message saying
that PSE had detected an impending shutdown of my computer, and that I
should shutdown and restart the computer.  I had two button choices:
ignore or quit.  Given those choices, I quit, then shutdown the computer
and restarted.  I again unzipped PSE and attempted an install.  This time I
got a error message saying an installer was already running and I should
shut it down.  Having no clue as to how to shut down an installer, I
attempted (FOR 6 HOURS) to obtain assistance from Adobe technical support
and either waited for a return call, waited on hold, attempted to
communicate with someone who I could not understand from India, or was told
technical support was not available on the phone for PSE.  I finally gave
up and went to Chat.  There, attempting to explain what the problem was,
(see above), I guess I took too long to respond, the chatter closed the
chat, and I was not able to reconnect to chat.  After 5 attempts were
denied, I contacted a friend who has computer operations experience.  After
an hour of attempting various things, he told me to hit "ignore".  PSE
installed correctly and I'm now using it.  This was an extremely shoddy
performance by Adobe -- first a glitch in the install process, and then no
    help from tech support.

This answer may be somewhat late, but just in case other have the same issues, I went to site listed below and it solved the problem.  No need to reinstall CS5 product.  I hope this works for you.

Hi, after installing Adobe CC I tried opening Adobe Photoshop. This failed.
I get the opening window where it says installing plugins searching etc, after which PS opens in full screen.
Just moments after that there's a failure warning, no code number, only the warning that PS failed to open and PS will close.
I tried downloading it for a second time, but this did'nt solve the problem.
Befor the CC version I used a one year student version of Adobe CS6.
    What can I do?

Regarding the Flash Player problem, disable Hardware Acceleration to circumvent driver incompatibilities.

  • Why do i get an error 16 when i try to open adobe photoshop cs6 on my mac?? plz and thank you

when i try to open adobe photoshop cs6 on my mac an error 16 pops up. can anynone tell me the solution??plz

When it happened to me, it turned out that my permissions to the Application Support folder was unintentionally changed during an update, causing the problem.
A Terminal command fixed it.  Copy and paste into Terminal. You need to be allowed to administer this computer from your account.
If you are asked to enter a password, enter it blindly, because usually there are no dots and cursor movement when you do.
    sudo chmod -R 777 /Library/Application\ Support/Adobe

Rosetta can have a 2GB RAM "tax" to manage PowerPC code as well as how that affects performance.
I think real world performance shows both statements to be wrong; consider this:
If that were the case, how come Apple does not include that information in its Snow Leopard installation requirements, since Rosetta is an optional install?
Also, running a PowerPC app on an 2011 i7 Mac with Snow Leopard will run faster than running that PowerPC app on a PowerPC Mac.

  • I recently did a system update and installed Yosemite on my Mac. Now I am unable to open CS5 at all. The error message I get is this: "To open Adobe Photoshop CS5.1, you need to install legacy Java SE 6 runtime." I have tried downloading this and it still

I recently did a system update and installed Yosemite on my Mac. Now I am unable to open CS5 at all. The error message I get is this: "To open Adobe Photoshop CS5.1, you need to install legacy Java SE 6 runtime." I have tried downloading this and it still gives me the same mess

In the details it is mentioned that it is an outdated version of Java.
Is this a security risk that i need to live with to get CS5 to run with Yosemite?
Also i need to reject messages from Java in the future about updates, or not?
    thx for any input

  • I'm having problems installing Adobe Photoshop Elements 12.

I'm having problems installing Adobe Photoshop Elements 12.
The problem is right at the end of installation, it (the Install Shield Wizard) says status is registering and then immediately does an action rollback.
    The message I get is:
'The wizard was interrupted before Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 could be completely installed. Your system has not been modified. To complete installation at another time, please run the installation again.'
If anyone can offer some help, please, that would be great.
    Thanks.
    Grant.

  • Problems installing Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 - Rollback action issue.

Im having problems installing Adobe Photoshop Elements 9.

The message "The wizard was interrupted before Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 could be completely installed. Your system has not been modified. To complete installation at another time, please run setup again."
I have also created a new administrator account and after rebooting tried to install it but with the same result. It appears to get to the end of the program install but falls over just before the Organiser install. There are no error messages. AV and surplus programs have been stopped. Desktop clean up run.  XP machine well within required spec.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • To open "Adobe Photoshop CS4" you need to install the legacy Java SE 6 runtime.

I have updated my system to Yosemite and when I try to open Adobe CS$ i get this message. To open “Adobe Photoshop CS4” you need to install the legacy Java SE 6 runtime.  I have followed the links and installed Java for OS X 2014-001 includes installation improvements, and supersedes all previous versions of Java for OS X. This package installs the same version of Java 6 included in Java for OS X 2013-005.
When I again try to open CS4 I get the  same message To open “Adobe Photoshop CS4” you need to install the legacy Java SE 6 runtime.
    Can anyone assist please?
    Thanks Colin

you may need to uninstall CS then reboot, try to see if it allows you to update your JAVA
    APPLE'S JAVA
    Java for OS X 2014-001
    SUN MICROSYSTEMS JAVA
    http://www.java.com/en/download/help/mac_install.xml
    then reinstall CS4
I ran into something similar with CS6 where it needed to come off and go back on
technically CS4 is not supported by Adobe and reported to be problematic with Yosemite.
