  • Appropriate iPhoto for Snow Leopard?

I primarily use Snow Leopard, OS X 10.6.8.  I'd like to use iPhoto but can't - trying to launch iPhoto 9.4.2 tells me that I need os 10.4 and above, and trying to use iPhoto 8.1.2 tells me that there is a problem and then shows lots of diagnostic information.  Some where  in the discussions I learned that I need iPhoto 9.2.3.  So, I went to the App store and searched for iPhoto 9.2.3 and got no results.  So, two questions:  is iPhoto the appropriate iPhoto for Snow Leopard?  If so, where can I get it?

I'm sorry but I'm not clear on what version of the OS you actually have.
With 10.6.8 you can go to iPhoto v9.3.2 - to get that you'll need to purchase an iLife 11 install disk. The App Store only has the latest version, (v9.4.2) which only runs on 10.7.5 or later.

  • What is current version iPhoto for Snow Leopard?

What is the current version of iPhoto for Snow Leopard?  I have used iPhoto ever since 10.6.8 was installed --use Software Update all the time, my current iPhoto says it's v. 8.3.1.  Now, suddenly, when I try to open iPhoto, messages says : " The photo library needs to be upgraded to work with this version of iPhoto. Your photo library will not be readable by previous versions of iPhoto after the upgrade. The upgrade process may take several minutes depending on the number of photos in the library.  (choices are)  Quit - - Upgrade"
I am fearful to click the upgrade because I have assumed iPhoto was up-to-date for this OS 10.6.8.  Fearful, because I envision losing the whole iPhoto library.   I was in our local reseller/retailer yesterday and was encouraged  to "just go ahead and click it!"  but tho' I'm not a nerd, I need to understand what's going on here !  WIll appreciate any thoughtful counsel . . .

9.2.3, which is part of iLife '11.

  • Hacker problems so I reloaded Snow Leopard. Afterwards, Mac had to delete 798 items. Now looping on 4 items to delete for the past 2 weeks. Can't reboot, reload, or restart. I have to let the battery run down for it to turn off. How to fix this, please?

I had hacker problems so I reloaded Snow Leopard. Afterwards, Mac had to delete 798 items. Now it is looping on 4 items to delete for the past 2 weeks. I can't reboot, reload, or restart. I have to let the battery run down for it to turn off. I think a big part of the problem is that someon one the internet (the hacker) was mirroring my hard drive. It seems to have locked up my system. I could be wrong about this guess, though. All I do know is that it is now looping on the last 4 iems, and I can't do anything.
Well, I can get it to turn on, but all it does is continously try to delete the last 4 items. When I try to reload Snow Leopard, it tells me my hard drive is full and that I need to delete items.
Can anyone help? I am so lost without my Mac. I am back on the PC, and though it works, I'm sure many of you will understand when I say it's just not a Mac.
    Thanks.

I installed Snow Leopard using my Apple external Superdrive. I followed directions I found on the Apple site. Here is the article info:  Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard: How to Erase and Install
                     Article HT3910
                     located at: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3910
Everything was going smoothly until I got to the reinstall part. I had to choose to reinstall on a hard drive or network drive. I've never used a network drive; just the hard drive. It seems that's where the troubles began. I selected the hard drive. It seemed to go well, and then I got the message that I needed to delete some files because I was out of space. I chose to get rid of my music files, but, there were only 636. I don't know what the rest of the files were. I was using the Secure Empty Trash command.
That was my first time doing an erase and install. I tried to do it again, but I now get a continuous error telling me that my hard drive is full and I must delete files. Only I can't delete files because 4 files are still being deleted and my computer won't let me stop the process.
I found out about the hackers mostly by the fact that whenever I used to watch something like Hulu or Netflix, I never had problems with internet connection or speed. Lately, I had internet connection problems. I went in to check my settings for my internet provider and found out the settings had been changed to public and all these extra computers were connected to my network.

  • I upgraded to snow leopard but iphoto was not included. How do I install iphoto on snow leopard 10.6.8?

i upgraded to snow leopard but iphoto was not included. How do I install iphoto on snow leopard 10.6.8?

IPhoto is not included in any OS upgrade. It is a seperate application. Unless you choose to erase your drive when you upgrade no application including iPhoto is affected by the upgrade (except potential compatibility issues). If you need to reinstall iPhoto for and reason you do it from the original source. Either
1- the restore disks that came with your computer
    Or
2- the iLife DVD upgrade that you purchased
    Or
    3- the App store

  • Why am i having problems since changing from snow leopard loading maverick

why am i having problems since changing from snow leopard downloading maverick

Yes you solved your own question, use printer handles color, whcih shodul have been the default. If you do want to experiment with Photohsop manages color, try the CMYK profiles, and send a cmyk file. Only exception is if you print to one of the few RGB printers like a lambda.

  • Can I avoid Iphoto problems in upgrading from Snow Leopard 10.6.8 to Mavericks?

I've read that upgrading to Mavericks involves problems with Iphoto. I have an older version of Iphoto (7.1.5). Should I upgrade to a newer version of Iphoto BEFORE I upgrade to Mavericks? If so, do I have a choice and to what version? Is there any reasonable way to avoid IPhoto difficulties in moving to Mavericks?

This screenshot shows which previous versions of iPhoto are compatible with Mavericks.  It also indicates which versions qualify for a free upgrade to iPhoto 9.5.1 and which require a purchase:
Note 1:  every day more users are reporting problems with iPhoto 8.1.2 so I've included it in the non compatible category.
Note 2:  If your previous version of iPhoto was iPhoto 7 (08) or earlier you'll need to download and run the iPhoto Library Upgrader 1.1 application on the library before opening it with iPhoto 9.5.1.

  • IPHOTO 09+SNOW LEOPARD= TOTAL CRASH !

Last july I upgraded from Tiger , iphoto 06, Powerbook G4 to the newest MBP 2,26,2 gb, 500 gb, iphoto 09 and now Snow Leopard.
The first migration was not so bad. But There were many duplicates and many Thumbnails without original pictures. so the library became of 95,000 jpgs (originally 25,000). after Trying to clean it (using Duplicator annihilator, and the script to delete vacuum spaces) i decide to create another library, re-importing pictures from the PB, now with more carefully.
The new library was ok, only 25,000 pics. Another time i got thumbnail without pictures and it was very slow, I tried to rebuilt the library and after this I found thumbnails and related pictures.
A week ago, i upgrade to snow leopard... TOTAL CRASH!
Opening Iphoto and trying to open a picture... crash
...In Italy we say "dalla padella nella brace"...
After reading many posts and forums
    I tried to:
    - Rebuilt library
    - Trash iphoto and re-install it
    - Upgrading Ilife 09 with the last support
    - Check permissions of Iphoto and of all the disk
    - create another user, (using the same library)
Nothing to do to Iphoto, is still Crashing.
I'm thinking to my old powerbook...
Now i'm using Aperture, Trial version, using iphoto library. It's no bad, but a little bit slow, But next month i'll must to pay It!
Please help Me!.. I loved iphoto (the old one)
    and sorry for my English
    many greetings from Naples, italy...

"+Try trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder."
*Done. Still slow, but not stopped. A little bit better.*
(Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)+
*How i can reset my account options? Some things are different in Italian language.*
    +Doing this:+
+create another user, (using the same library)+
+Is pointless as the problem is the Library. In the new account simply create a new Library to see if it works.+
    +Post the Crash Log.+
*It's not a really crash, but an endless waiting with the multicolor circle. After many minutes i have to make an hard exit (commandoptionesc)*
+Happened because you imported one library to another, as opposed to simply updating it.+
*How I can do a simply update? Using "import" in the archive menu?*
*But so I must move the library to import in another folder, because i can't import from other iphoto library folder. I will try it.*
    *thank's Terence, You're great.*

  • Black screen in Iphoto after Snow Leopard upgrade

Hi, I've just upgraded the OS to Snow Leopard and now when I try to view or edit in iphoto the photo appears and then the window goes black - has anyone else seen this? Any suggestions how to fix, I've rebuilt the photo library but this hasnt helped.

Sometimes it helps to know you're not alone. I'm facing the same thing. Called Apple Support. They told me to reinstall iPhoto '09 (which I did), rebuild the libraries (which I did). Still getting the same problem.
I also find often that when I attempt to crop a photo, the screen image distorts and stretches to the desired size, instead of crops.
Something to do with the way Snow Leopard uses Open GL?

  • Can't open Aperture after Snow Leopard to Mavericks upgrade.

Upgraded to Mavericks from Snow Leopard. Now, the Aperture icon in the dock is greyed out. When I try to open it I get the message that I have Aperture 3.2.4 and it can't be opened with Mavericks. I purchased Aperture from the App Store when I had Snow Leopard and it shows in my purchases list, but when I check for available updates nothing shows. I have US English in my preferences, and Aperture is in my Applications file. I tried to update Aperture with 3.4.4 as an interim step from the Apple website, but got the message that I had to update from the App Store.
    Any help appreciated.
    Russ

Could there be anything interfering with the App Store connecting to Apple's servers? Firewall, antivirus filters? Any problems with your AppleID? Credit card expired, the answers to your security questions too short, an too simple password?
In some cases it will help, to boot into Safe Mode before connecting to the AppStore. Try to load the updates page while booted into Safe mode, see:  Mac OS X: Starting up in Safe Mode

  • Problems saving files in Snow Leopard

I've just upgraded from Leopard to Snow Leopard (I know I'm a dinosaur...) and am now having major problems saving Appleworks files.
When I'm doing corrections, I sometimes need to save a file over 10 times and my helpful "Do you want to replace this file?" box has gone and instead it's saving as a new file and adding another 'full stop' at the end of the file name.  It's driving me nuts!
Is there any way to get back to just over-writing the file?
    Any help gratefully received...
    Thanks
    Take care
    Marianne

This is turning out to be really crazy. I haven't added any third party application at all.
Last night I tried Roger's 'command-S' and it worked on a different document I opened.  I tried the same document, changed it, 'Saved As' and it asked me if I wanted to over-write the file.
I then opened the original document I was having trouble with, hit 'Save As' and the same thing happened; it just made multiple copies of the file.  It seems to be a problem with this particular client and all his files; unfortunately, he's the client I do the most work for.
Now I don't know why it's happening on some documents and not on others.
Any further ideas?  Can I do something to this client's files, re-save them or whatever, so I don't have this problem?
    Thanks again...

  • Problems with FCP after Snow Leopard Installation

I'm editing canon 5d footage in FCP. I use MPEG Streamclip to properly convert the footage before importing to fcp. Everything was working absolutely fine until I installed snow leopard.  Now, all of the clips in the timeline have those weird lines as if I imported the footage without converting it.  I have a deadline and if I have to re-edit this entire project it's not going to be pretty.  I have installed all of the updates for FCP and Snow Leopard.  I tried a test by creating a new batch in MPEG streamclip and the footage is fine. It appears that I might have to re-edit everything.   Can someone PLEASE offer some assistance?  I can't afford to re-edit this project.
    Thank you

Yes... I am aware of the canon plug in for converting 5d/7d footage.  I either use that plug in or MPEG stream clip and they both have been working fine.   "Properly" meaning... FCP does not recognize H.264 (5d and 7d) therefor we need to convert the video using either MPEG stream clip or the free canon plug in.  The best codec to edit this footage is ProRes 422LT  ProRes422 - I only use the 5d and or 7d cameras for my projects and have been editing this way for some time without any problems what so ever.  The problems immediately arose after upgrading to Snow Leopard. The problem lies in my EXISTING FCP projects that are already in the works.  I am still able to convert footage for new projects without a problem.  I am using the latest updated versions of SL and FCP. I did the following to trouble shoot:
    1. Did a clean reinstall of FCP - STILL HAPPENING
    2. On an existing project I deleted a few of the problem clips.  Took the original and converted it again using MPEG Stream clip.  Renamed it and from the FCP project, I located the new clip.  SAME PROBLEM
    3. On an existing project, I deleted a few of the clips completely. Converted the original again using MPEG SC.  Imported the entire new clip in FCP, re-edited it and dragged it into the time line.  NO PROBLEM WORKS FINE
    4. Opened a new project in FCP.   Took some of the original problematic clips.  Converted them using MPEG SC. Dragged into the timeline.  NO PROBLEM, WORKS FINE
    5. Played both the original clips (before conversion) and the converted clips in Quick Time - NO PROBLEM WORKS FINE
    6.  Exported part of a problematic project to Quick Time - NO PROBLEM WORKS FINE
    7. Opened up one of the same projects from the same hard drive on my other mac (Mac Book Pro) and there are NO PROBLEMS.  THEY WORK FINE
Based on everything I've listed above, the problem seems to be happening in the Viewer  and Canvas on my I-Mac which I just upgraded to Snow Leopard.  The exported projects are fine.  Am I to assume that I should continue working with these existing projects and everything will be fine?  I've spoke to 5 or 6 friends that are experienced and no one can come up with an answer.

  • Lower DVD drive won't open/close since Snow Leopard upgrade

    Hello,
I have 2 optical drives in my Mac Pro: 1 Superdrive in the upper slot and 1 DVD-ROM drive in the lower slot (a HITACHI DVD-ROM GD-7000 which came with my old Dual G4 450).
Since upgrading to Snow Leopard, I can't use the lower drive anymore, it won't open or close (I used the alt-eject keys, nothing happens). The drive also is not listed in the eject-menu in the menue bar, but it appears in system profiler as:
    HITACHI DVD-ROM GD-7000:
    Modell: HITACHI DVD-ROM GD-7000
    Version: 016J
    Seriennummer:
    Absteckbares Laufwerk: Nein
    Protokoll: ATAPI
    Einheiten-Nummer: 1
    Socket-Typ: Intern
    Low-Power-Polling: Nein
    Ausschalten: Nein
Anybody any ideas what I can do to get that 2nd drive to work again?
    Thanks in advance,
    Peter

Today I had a little time do do some testing:
The tip with the SMC RESET button didn't help.
Zapping the PRAM/NVRAM didn't help either.
The jumpers were on "cable select" on both drives, I tried to set one as "master" and the other one as "slave". Problem still exists.
I changed the position of the drives to check if the cable is ok. Still the same.
I unplugged the other (working) drive and had just the one plugged in. It shows up in system profiler but not in the drives menue nor in the disk utility application.
I booted from my 10.5 installation DVD and tried the disk utility from there. It's not on the list.
    Any other ideas?
    Peter

  • Cannot open Dreamweaver in Snow Leopard

I have a MacBook (alum 2009) that I just changed out the hard drive (the original failed). At the same time I installed Snow Leopard 10.6 on the new drive. Ever since I cannot open Dreamweaver CS4 (or Photoshop CS3 for that matter). I get a 150.30 error code having to do with the licensing failing. I contacted Customer Service and have had NO help sent my way that has solved the problem. It seams the tech support people have no clue.
Can anyone out there help me with this problem?
The latest help sent to me by tech support is the following. It did not work and seems to be for Leopard 10.4 or 10.5:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/405/kb405970.html

    Thanks Snakeyez02.
I did have the drive replaced under warranty. The Apple Dealer I went to allowed me to upgrade my old 250gb drive to a Western Digital 320gb (of course charging me the difference in price). I had backed up all the data on my old drive on a Time Machine. I purchased the Family pack of Snow Leopard and did a clean install on the new drive. I then restored my data from the Time Machine.
This is when I could not use DW and PS. Both give the same error message ( 150.30: see below ) and then the program shuts down. I tried to call Adobe Support and gave up after being put on hold for two 1/2 hour attempts. BTW, I have Acrobat 8 and it works just fine on the new setup.
I then went the on-line route and am in the process of talking back and forth with some guy that can barely write English. Adobe's support is beginning to frustrate me!
I am using the most current install from Adobe (from a download) and am using a new password given to me by Adobe Support. I have done all the things given in the Knowledge Base article linked in my original post. And I have fixed Permissions in Apple's Disk Utility. All with out luck.
I will upgrade SL to 10.6.1 and see if that works, but I do not have confidence that it will. I feel that somewhere on my computer is an old DW file that will not go away when I uninstall the program (yes, I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times using both AppZaper and DW's uninstall program).
    Any thoughts??
p.s. Adobe has always had a terrible licensing system from day one. I have been a loyal customer for over a decade, but I am really getting tired of their restrictive licensing that punishes those who pay for their programs.

  • Problem with airport after snow leopard upgrade.

I know there are several threads about this already but none of the "answers" to those threads fix my problem. I just upgraded snow leopard and installed the new update. Since then I can connect to my wifi, but nothing will load. My airport says that I am connected and that I have a full signal, but whenever I open my internet browser (firefox, safari), nothing will load, it just stays on the screen that says "loading" at the top. I've tried deleting the "Automatic" airport option and creating my own but that has not worked. Any suggestions as to how to fix this?? Right now the only way i can access the internet is be plugging directly into the router.

    Hi swftrules,
It's probably worth trying just to ensure that the issue is (or isn't) location specific. Preferably to go somewhere that you've never connected before and has free WiFi without crazy encryption. An Apple Store is a great location to try.
If it does work at the new location, I'd be inclined to reset the router and set it back up (open network) and see if that works and then add encryption from there.
If it doesn't work at the new location, then I'd consider reloading the OS if you've already tried the new network location.
