Problems opening multiple images as layers from Lightroom 4 to Photoshop CS6

I'm having trouble bringing multiple photos from Lightroom 4 into Photoshop CS6 as layers. In LR4, I select the multiple photos I want to bring in, right click and from the pop-up menu select "Edit In", then "Open as Layers In Photoshop...". Photoshop CS6 then opens but the photos do not load in. I then get an error in LR4 about a minute later that says "The files could not be edited because Adobe Photoshop CS6 could not be launched." However Photoshop just opened before I got the error. How do I fix this?

Maybe a keyboard issue - shortcut key toggling multiple times. But, if you're sure your keyboard is fine, then try this:
Reset LR preferences:Windows 7/ Vista: The preference setting file is Lightroom 4 Preferences.agprefs, in C:\Users\[user name]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Lightroom\Preferences\. Rename/ move this file to a different location. LR will recreate preferences during next launch. See if this fixes the issue. The reason we're renaming or moving it is so that if it doesn't fix the error, you can move it back there so you don't have to recreate your in-application preferences again
Reset Photoshop preferences: Follow instructions here: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/375776
See if either or one of the above suggestions works.

  • Open one than more file from Lightroom to photoshop at the same time

    Hi,
i'm a PS Elements-User and i have a question. Is it possible to open more than 1 file from lightroom into photoshop with one click? Thank you in advance for helping me.
    SH

I use PSE9 and send several derivate files (TIFFs) from LR to PSE9 all the time to do panos.
I've recorded a little screen capture showing 4 images being sent to PSE9 from LR3.6. You can see the 4 tiffs being added to the catalog before calling PSE9 and then the 4 TIFFs arrive in PSE9.
What Operating System do you use? Can you show a screenshot of the external editor settings for PSE?

  • Can't open RAW file when moved from Lightroom to Photoshop CS4

I have a Canon 6D and recently purchased Lightroom 4.4 so that I could open my Canon RAW files. They do open in Lightroom, but when I move them to PHotoshop CS4 I can't open the files. I get a message telling me I can't open them. Any suggestions?

I don't know Macs so can't give you advice if CS6 will run on your Mac.
But since you have Lr5 you won't need to open Raw images in Photoshop. Lr5 gives you all the Raw editing capabilities that you need. I don't think CS6 will add anything to Raw editing capabilities that Lr5 doesn't have - although I don't know CS6 since I am still working with CS5.
You still can send images from Lr5 to CS4 for editing but you have to select <Render using Lightroom> in the dialog that says that the "Camera raw plug-in 8.1 may be required   ...". BTW: what this means is that the Camera raw plug-in 8.1 is required for Photoshop, not for Lr.
When you select <Render using Lightroom> Lr will create a TIFF / PSD from the Raw image and send it to CS4 for editing.
If you had CS6 Lr would send the Raw image to CS6 but on saving the edits in CS6 a TIFF / PSD would be created.
The only drawback with using CS4 is that the options <Merge to Panorama ...>, <Merge to HDR ...>, and <Open as layers> will be greyed-out and are not available.
If instead of selecting  <Render using Lightroom> in the dialog box you would select <Open anyway>, nothing would happen. CS4 would open but the image would not be displayed in CS4.

  • Trouble moving from lightroom to Photoshop CS6 raw editor

I am having trouble moving from my lightroom 4 to Photoshop camera raw. I can move directly to Photoshop but would like to use the raw editor in photoshop CS6 and not the lightroom editor

    Hi,
You could use Photo>Edit In>Open as Smart Object in Photoshop
(or right click on the photo and Edit In>Open as Smart Object in Photoshop)
Then double click on the smart object thumbnail in the layers panel to open camera raw.

  • Unable to open multiple images in preview from finder

I open a folder that contains a lot of .jpg photo files and select all and then open from the finder menu. In Leopard all the images are opened in one instance of preview. But after upgrade to Snow Leopard, only one or two of the selected images are opened. Will there be a fix for this?

I found another thread on this - the problem seems to be restricted to .jpg files downloaded after the upgrade to 10.6. I will try the workaround of deleting the files and then dragging them back from the trash.

  • Problem opening multiple images in external editor

I have Photoshop CS3 set as my external editor. In the past I cpould select multiple photos using shift-click OR command-click and select "Edit in external editor" and Photoshop will open all the images. I notice that in the latest version of iPhoto 7.1.3 (maybe in other 7.x versions) it will only open the first four images. If you use command-click to select non consecutive images it will only open the first consecutive set, up the the maximum of four as above, and none of the other non consecutive but selected images.
I have checked this with my separate TestAdmin account with the same result. Has anyone experienced a similar problem?
    Using OS 10.5.2, iPhoto 7.1.3, PS 10.0.1

    Mike
This is exactly as the makers of the application intended. It will only pass four pics at a time to the external editor. My guess is they made this decision to avoid the problem of inexperienced folk opening their entire library in PS by accident. Also, if I recall correctly, this has always been the case - and it certainly was in v6.
There is no workaround for this.

  • Problem opening photos with camera raw 7.1 with Photoshop CS6

I am using Windows 7 32 bit system with 4GB ram and graphics accelerator.
I have Photoshop CS5.1 installed in the same system at it works perfectly.
What happens is when I use the B+W function, I get an error message saying that I have not enough ram.
After that, when I open the next photo with Camera Raw, the raw image will not open.
I have already maximised the Ram that Photoshop can use to 1.7GB and there is more than enough space in my scratch disk.
Anyone can tell me what the problem is?

    Hi Noel,
    Thanks for your reply.
    Just to clarify.
I applied B+W layer adjustment on my photos.  It is part of an automated set of actions which I apply to all my photos.  I adjust the B&W layer to 50% overlay.  When I click on the B&W adjustment layer, there is an error message that tells me I have not enough ram. Once that happens, when I open the next photo in raw, I don't see the new photo but only the frame of the camera raw though which I see my photoshop desktop.
It doesn't occur with the first few photos.  But by the 3rd or 4th it happens.
I will adjust it to 50% and see what happens.

  • Is it possible to open multiple images in Photoshop as smart layers?

    Hi All,
After searching, I think I know the answer to this but thought I'd check, we have background plates with main images and love the open multiple images as layers option - but can you open multiple images as multiple smart object layers?
    Cheers

    This might work.
Edit: But it is a lot less sophisticated than the Load Files into StackScript.

  • Noise/grainy problems with images exported into photoshop cc from lightroom after photoshop & lightroom updates

I can't figure it out. After updating photoshop from the c6 version to the newer cc, and after also an update to lightroom through my creative cloud app, all photos exported now from lightroom into photoshop are extremely noisy and poor quality. I have adjusting settings I thought to back where I had them, but the images still don't look right.  Can you help me? Slammed with photos to edit for paid gigs! Panicking. These are raw files.

My interpretation of what the OP’s situation, that they are adjusting noise-reduction and sharpening to their liking in LR, the using Edit In PS (not Exporting despite using that word) into PS and what they see in PS is much nosier than what they saw in LR and are wondering why things look different between LR and PS.
My guess as to the problem is that they’re adjusting LR-Detail settings (Sharpness and NR) using Fit zoom instead of 1:1 zoom and then viewing the image in PS, perhaps at 1:1 zoom or even at Fit-to-Window zoom in PS, and that LR’s resampling and PS’s resampling of the image for fitting to the screen are a bit different and PS’s looks rougher.
Unless the OP is comparing LR and PS at 1:1 or 100% zoom, differences are to be expected.

  • Has anyone had difficulties opening up an image from Lightroom to Photoshop CC?

Has anyone had difficulties opening up an image from Lightroom to Photoshop CC?

    Hi Tom,
Kind of you to reply. My 'titles' conform, as they always have done.  I've used a few versions of PSE over the years. Pics edited in an older version opened up no probs on ipad.
When I upgraded my camera a few years ago I had to upgrade PSE because the updated codec for shooting raw was not available for downloading to earlier versions of the programme.  The same occurred again with another camera upgrade, which is why I am using PSE12 now.
    Cheers

  • Can't open a raw file from Lightroom to Photoshops ACR

I got used to using Lightroom 3 as a place to catalogue and store my images but still process my Raw files in Adobe Photoshops Raw Convertor. Now that I have Lightroom 5 I can't find out how to do this.  With version 3 I just highlighted say 3 files and hit command E.
I know I can open an image as a smart object and go about it that way but I can't open multiple images from Lightroom to ACR.
I know people will say '' hey well do your Raw work in Lightroom'' but I got used to using the Photoshop Raw convertor and I spent a lot of time and money learning it.
Surely there is a way to open say three images from L5 to ACR ???
Please help this has been driving me nuts, It's suggested I will need to start using Bridge but I'm bewildered and don't want to start learning something new.
    Thanks in advance.

It has been a long time since I even had Lightroom 3 installed on my computer.  I don't recall the behavior you are describing.  ACR is used to translate the adjustments made in Lightroom as the image is transferred to Photoshop.  You may have become accustomed to a certain behavior, but it doesn't work that way.  The process of moving from Lightroom to Photoshop works on the assumption that you have done your raw adjustments using Lightroom, and you are now passing that image to Photoshop.

  • How to open multiple images in photoshop cs3

Hey, what im trying to do is open multiple images in photoshop cs3 and then blend the images together. But the problem that i am facing is that i can only open one image at a time. Can someone tell me step by step how to do this.
    Thanks for the help
    Michael

i dont belive i have tabbed view, what i just did, was i draged one photo into phtoshop and then another. When i look to my right, only one iamge shows up in the layers and the other seems to have dissappeaed.
It seems that having a tabbed view is useful, how do i set photoshop to this?

  • Suddenly can't open multiple image files in CS5

I recently transferred LR 5.3 and CS5 (12.04x64X) onto a new PC (OS Windows 7 64-bit). Both programs are working fine individually. And single images in LR open just fine for editing in CS5. But when I try to open multiple images (to merge as a panoramic) or open multiple images as separate layers, nothing happens.  CS5 opens on top of LR, but the files themselves never open. No problems doing this a few days ago with my older computer (same programs, same operating system).
Any suggestions for fixing this would be much appreciated.

When you say nothing is showing up, do you mean it is as if you didn’t use File / Open, or is it more that there is something but it is gray or white or black without any image detail?  If the latter, perhaps something like a video driver update or system-level change has made things incompatible with how PSE11 tries to display images.
    Have you rebooted?
Have you reset your preferences?  You can do this by holding down Ctrl-Shift-Alt at the same time while PSE11 is starting up (or at least while the editor is starting up) and you’ll get a message about deleting the preferences file or not before you see the splash screen.   Various other key combinations will ask for an additional plug-ins folder or a different scratch disk location.  If you are going to delete your preferences file you might want to review the settings, first, in case there is something important you need to reconfigure once the preferences have been reset.

  • Photoshop CC crashes when opening multiple images

Has anyone else got this problem of PS CC crashing when trying to open multiple images? If you open one file at a time, there are no issues, but 2 or more and it crashes as shown below. I've tried it with JPG's, TIFF's and PSD's and still get the same problem.
I've also tried starting it while pressing alt/ctrl/shift, but still get the same problem.
PS CC is version 14.0, 32 bit, running on Windows 7 which is up to date. I do only have 4GB RAM, of which PS takes 60% of it according to the system info panel. Could this be one of the causes, or is it a bug in the software? I never had this problem before in CS6 or previous.
    Thanks in advance.

    Found it eventually!

  • Sending photos from Lightroom to Photoshop - covered with colours? Opening from Bridge they are fine

Sending photos from Lightroom to Photoshop - covered with colours? Opening from Bridge they are fine.  Does anyone know how to set up the monitor from advanced to basic?  Someone said that might be the issue but I can't find any area in control panel where it has the option?

You need to supply more information and screen shots of the problem would also be useful.
